stand_v in_o these_o two_o thing_n first_o in_o a_o man_n examine_v himself_o after_o he_o be_v come_v from_o the_o sacrament_n let_v a_o man_n examine_v himself_o and_o so_o let_v he_o eat_v and_o so_o let_v he_o drink_v so_o also_o let_v a_o man_n eat_v and_o drink_v and_o so_o let_v he_o examine_v himself_o a_o man_n be_v serious_o and_o faithful_o after_o he_o have_v be_v at_o the_o lord_n table_n to_o consider_v between_o god_n and_o his_o own_o soul_n what_o entertainment_n and_o welcome_a god_n have_v give_v he_o whether_o god_n have_v deal_v with_o he_o at_o this_o supper_n as_o mary_n deal_v with_o christ_n at_o that_o supper_n john_n 12._o 2_o 3._o whether_o the_o lord_n have_v pour_v any_o precious_a ointment_n upon_o he_o or_o not_o what_o comfort_n and_o increase_v of_o faith_n and_o grace_n he_o have_v receive_v what_o quicken_n what_o refreshment_n what_o friendship_n and_o communion_n with_o christ_n what_o virtue_n he_o have_v find_v to_o flow_v out_o of_o christ_n into_o his_o own_o soul_n now_o upon_o such_o examination_n a_o man_n shall_v find_v that_o it_o have_v be_v well_o with_o he_o at_o the_o sacrament_n or_o it_o have_v not_o he_o have_v have_v a_o good_a day_n of_o it_o or_o no_o good_a day_n and_o according_o as_o he_o find_v so_o he_o be_v to_o proceed_v first_o then_o if_o a_o man_n have_v find_v no_o joy_n comfort_n enlargement_n no_o communion_n with_o nor_o answer_v from_o christ_n but_o upon_o examination_n find_v that_o he_o have_v be_v unfruitful_a and_o that_o his_o heart_n be_v full_a of_o deadness_n hardness_n and_o dulness_n of_o spirit_n then_o two_o thing_n be_v to_o be_v do_v first_o suspect_v thyself_o that_o some_o miscarriage_n have_v be_v in_o thou_o either_o in_o thy_o preparation_n to_o or_o in_o thy_o performance_n of_o the_o duty_n labour_v therefore_o to_o find_v out_o where_o the_o fail_n be_v and_o what_o it_o be_v that_o hinder_v the_o efficacy_n of_o the_o sacrament_n that_o cause_v god_n to_o keep_v his_o hand_n close_o that_o cause_v he_o to_o deny_v to_o anoint_v thou_o with_o fresh_a oil_n and_o have_v find_v out_o what_o hinder_v and_o deaden_v the_o sacrament_n judge_v thyself_o for_o that_o and_o be_v serious_o humble_v for_o it_o and_o this_o be_v thus_o do_v so_o that_o after_o our_o receive_n we_o can_v but_o be_v sensible_a of_o our_o own_o senselessness_n of_o heart_n in_o that_o holy_a duty_n and_o can_v mourn_v for_o it_o and_o complain_v to_o god_n of_o it_o and_o of_o ourselves_o we_o need_v not_o be_v overmuch_o dismay_v and_o cast_v down_o because_o this_o be_v one_o fruit_n of_o the_o life_n of_o christ_n which_o be_v undoubted_o receive_v in_o the_o sacrament_n though_o thou_o have_v not_o that_o thou_o will_v have_v have_v yet_o thou_o have_v that_o which_o be_v worth_a the_o go_n for_o construe_v this_o very_a thing_n as_o a_o fruit_n of_o go_v to_o the_o sacrament_n and_o be_v thankful_a for_o that_o second_o endeavour_v by_o after_o pain_n in_o prayer_n and_o humiliation_n to_o quicken_v and_o awaken_v the_o efficacy_n of_o the_o sacrament_n for_o this_o we_o must_v know_v as_o a_o point_n of_o great_a use_n and_o comfort_n that_o sacrament_n do_v not_o always_o work_v for_o the_o present_a but_o the_o efficacy_n may_v come_v afterward_o it_o be_v in_o this_o case_n as_o in_o that_o 1_o sam._n 10._o 1._o 6_o 9_o samuel_n anoint_a saul_n and_o say_v the_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n will_v come_v upon_o thou_o etc._n etc._n and_o it_o be_v so_o that_o when_o have_v turn_v his_o back_n to_o go_v from_o samuel_n god_n give_v he_o another_o heart_n the_o spirit_n of_o god_n come_v not_o upon_o he_o in_o the_o anoint_v but_o afterward_o when_o he_o be_v depart_v from_o samuel_n the_o action_n of_o god_n be_v of_o eternal_a efficacy_n though_o he_o put_v forth_o that_o efficacy_n in_o such_o time_n and_o season_n as_o he_o see_v good_a though_o the_o sacrament_n work_v not_o for_o the_o present_a in_o the_o administration_n yet_o if_o we_o be_v after_o touch_v with_o a_o
