rather_o choose_v to_o suffer_v death_n since_o he_o hold_v it_o not_o convenient_a for_o a_o man_n of_o his_o age_n to_o dissemble_v for_o a_o little_a time_n of_o a_o corruptible_a life_n whereby_o many_o young_a people_n may_v come_v to_o be_v scandalize_v and_o deceive_v for_o although_o at_o the_o present_a i_o may_v say_v he_o be_v deliver_v from_o the_o punishment_n of_o man_n yet_o neither_o alive_a nor_o dead_a shall_v i_o escape_v the_o hand_n of_o the_o almighty_a but_o in_o depart_v manful_o out_o of_o this_o life_n i_o shall_v appear_v worthy_a of_o my_o old_a age_n and_o the_o memory_n of_o his_o death_n for_o a_o example_n of_o virtue_n and_o fortitude_n and_o thus_o have_v we_o the_o clear_a relation_n of_o this_o glorious_a martyrdom_n draw_v out_o of_o the_o second_o book_n of_o the_o maccabee_n which_o in_o some_o sort_n may_v teach_v duty_n and_o resolution_n to_o all_o manner_n of_o condition_n since_o neither_o age_n nor_o honour_n can_v be_v privilege_v much_o less_o ought_v any_o to_o give_v up_o their_o faith_n or_o corrupt_v their_o manner_n under_o what_o pretence_n soever_o either_o of_o pleasure_n or_o conveniency_n those_o being_n nothing_o else_o but_o the_o devil_n golden_a bait_n to_o draw_v people_n to_o hell_n in_o luxurious_a chariot_n in_o testimony_n of_o which_o we_o will_v relate_v one_o of_o the_o most_o remarkable_a martyrdom_n that_o ever_o be_v record_v either_o by_o divine_a or_o profane_a writer_n since_o not_o only_a sex_n but_o very_a nature_n itself_o seem_v to_o contend_v for_o a_o prerogative_n in_o the_o service_n of_o almighty_a god_n in_o despite_n of_o horror_n and_o all_o the_o appetite_n of_o flesh_n blood_n affection_n and_o any_o other_o humane_a inclination_n or_o worldly_a satisfaction_n whatsoever_o and_o with_o so_o high_a and_o religious_a a_o magnanimity_n that_o my_o own_o thought_n i_o must_v confess_v be_v confound_v in_o the_o relation_n with_o wonder_n and_o admiration_n however_o i_o know_v the_o same_o duty_n of_o suffering_n belong_v to_o every_o person_n if_o god_n be_v please_v to_o call_v such_o to_o the_o trial_n though_o of_o the_o otherside_n i_o be_o again_o comfort_v and_o encourage_v with_o these_o say_n that_o he_o will_v at_o no_o time_n tempt_v any_o beyond_o his_o strength_n and_o therefore_o we_o may_v be_v confident_a by_o his_o divine_a grace_n we_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o do_v all_o thing_n though_o this_o grace_n can_v be_v procure_v unless_o ourselves_o diligent_o comply_v with_o our_o best_a endeavour_n which_o make_v one_o say_v it_o be_v hard_a for_o god_n almighty_a to_o save_v a_o soul_n then_o to_o create_v a_o new_a world_n for_o man_n himself_o must_v concur_v in_o the_o one_o and_o god_n alone_o can_v perfect_v the_o other_o by_o his_o omnipotency_n strange_a suffering_n of_o a_o woman_n and_o her_o seven_o son_n there_o be_v as_o the_o holy_a scripture_n say_v seven_o brethren_n with_o their_o mother_n apprehend_v by_o the_o commandment_n of_o king_n antiochus_n to_o be_v compel_v to_o eat_v swine_n flesh_n by_o whip_n scourge_n and_o other_o torment_n but_o the_o first_o of_o they_o say_v
