to_o be_v so_o indifferent_a in_o the_o administration_n of_o grace_n as_o to_o cast_v it_o thus_o away_o and_o can_v any_o reasonable_o think_v that_o at_o one_o and_o the_o same_o time_n the_o the_o covenant_n of_o redemption_n and_o for_o the_o refutation_n of_o a_o contrary_a error_n as_o we_o have_v somewhat_o of_o many_o error_n practical_o in_o our_o heart_n so_o have_v we_o this_o among_o the_o rest_n that_o christ_n die_v for_o all_o sinner_n which_o foster_v people_n security_n and_o their_o groundless_a hope_n of_o admission_n to_o heaven_n but_o here_o we_o see_v that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n in_o lay_v down_o his_o life_n intend_v the_o satisfaction_n of_o divine_a justice_n for_o none_o but_o for_o his_o elect_a people_n and_o if_o so_o there_o be_v many_o for_o who_o he_o never_o intend_v the_o benefit_n of_o his_o death_n there_o be_v three_o particular_a branch_n of_o the_o error_n which_o this_o doctrine_n confute_v 1._o their_o opinion_n which_o be_v more_o lax_n and_o take_v in_o the_o sin_n of_o all_o man_n and_o woman_n in_o the_o world_n and_o give_v they_o a_o equal_a share_n in_o christ_n suffering_n as_o if_o in_o his_o intention_n in_o lay_v down_o of_o his_o life_n and_o in_o god_n purpose_n he_o have_v suffer_v and_o die_v for_o all_o for_o he_o that_o go_v to_o hell_n as_o well_o as_o for_o he_o that_o go_v to_o heaven_n but_o if_o christ_n stand_v as_o cautioner_n for_o the_o elect_a only_o then_o sure_a this_o opinion_n can_v hold_v for_o all_o be_v not_o god_n elect_v and_o therefore_o all_o be_v not_o indifferent_o redeem_v and_o though_o it_o may_v be_v that_o some_o of_o you_o think_v that_o this_o look_v like_a grace_n yet_o it_o be_v not_o only_o absurd_a as_o be_v contrary_a to_o truth_n but_o its_o absurd_a also_o even_o with_o respect_n to_o grace_n for_o 1._o it_o make_v grace_v a_o common_a thing_n a_o man_n that_o be_v in_o hell_n to_o be_v as_o much_o oblige_v to_o christ_n as_o one_o that_o be_v in_o heaven_n and_o though_o it_o plausible_o pretend_v to_o give_v grace_n abroad_o and_o large_a extent_n yet_o it_o take_v away_o the_o power_n of_o it_o for_o if_o grace_n be_v thus_o large_o extend_v it_o be_v not_o grace_n that_o make_v the_o application_n of_o grace_n but_o the_o free_a will_n of_o the_o creature_n for_o grace_n according_a to_o this_o opinion_n leave_v man_n to_o be_v save_v or_o not_o as_o they_o please_v and_o leave_v itself_o to_o be_v overcome_v by_o man_n will_n and_o therefore_o these_o error_n divide_v not_o but_o go_v together_o hand_n in_o hand_n for_o where_o grace_n be_v make_v so_o large_a freewill_n be_v make_v to_o have_v a_o dominion_n over_o it_o and_o thus_o the_o weight_n of_o grace_n and_o of_o election_n be_v lay_v upon_o it_o 2._o it_o lessenâ—â—_n the_o estimation_n of_o god_n grace_n in_o the_o mind_n of_o people_n for_o thus_o they_o think_v little_a of_o heaven_n and_o suppose_v that_o it_o be_v a_o easy_a matter_n to_o win_v at_o it_o and_o it_o breed_v in_o they_o a_o fearlessness_n of_o hell_n and_o of_o god_n wrath_n and_o if_o many_o of_o you_o have_v not_o drunken_a in_o this_o error_n practical_o you_o will_v not_o be_v so_o confident_a of_o nor_o so_o obstinate_o maintain_v your_o hope_n of_o heaven_n without_o
and_o it_o plead_v much_o for_o they_o that_o never_o hear_v the_o gospel_n yea_o possible_o for_o all_o if_o they_o be_v not_o oblige_v to_o believe_v the_o gospel_n as_o it_o be_v hard_a to_o say_v they_o be_v who_o never_o hear_v of_o it_o 4._o there_o be_v many_o in_o hell_n this_o day_n who_o know_v and_o feel_v this_o to_o be_v a_o untruth_n be_v condemn_v for_o sin_n against_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n therefore_o he_o undertake_v not_o their_o debt_n nor_o pay_v for_o they_o and_o when_o the_o book_n shall_v be_v cast_v open_a there_o will_v be_v many_o other_o sin_n sound_v to_o be_v reckon_v for_o then_o sin_n against_o the_o gospel_n be_v not_o whoremonger_n adulterer_n murderer_n thief_n &c_n &c_n to_o to_o reckon_v for_o these_o sin_n it_o be_v very_o sad_a that_o so_o he_o may_v be_v satisfy_v or_o if_o you_o slight_v he_o you_o not_o only_o destroy_v and_o cause_n to_o perish_v your_o own_o soul_n but_o you_o refuse_v to_o satisfy_v chirst_n for_o his_o soul-travel_n and_o do_v what_o in_o you_o lie_v to_o mar_v and_o defeat_v the_o end_n and_o design_n of_o his_o suffering_n and_o be_v not_o this_o a_o great_a and_o strong_o push_v dilemma_n the_o result_n of_o your_o receive_n or_o reject_v of_o christ_n will_v be_v this_o if_o you_o receive_v he_o you_o satisfy_v he_o if_o you_o reject_v he_o you_o say_v you_o be_v not_o content_a that_o he_o shall_v be_v satisfy_v and_o what_o can_v be_v expect_v to_o come_v of_o it_o when_o christ_n suffer_v so_o much_o and_o when_o all_o that_o be_v crave_v of_o you_o be_v to_o make_v use_n of_o he_o and_o when_o it_o be_v tell_v that_o that_o will_v satisfy_v he_o and_o yet_o that_o be_v refuse_v what_o a_o horrible_a challenge_n will_v this_o be_v in_o the_o great_a day_n and_o therefore_o to_o press_v this_o use_v a_o little_a we_o shall_v show_v you_o here_o 1._o what_o it_o be_v that_o we_o exhort_v you_o to_o and_o 2._o what_o be_v the_o force_n of_o this_o motive_n 1._o we_o will_v commend_v to_o you_o in_o general_a that_o you_o will_v endeavour_v the_o salvation_n of_o your_o own_o soul_n this_o be_v it_o he_o cry_v to_o you_o prov._n 1.22_o how_o long_o you_o simple_a one_o will_v you_o love_v simplicity_n and_o you_o scorner_n delight_v in_o scorn_v turn_v you_o at_o my_o reproof_n etc._n etc._n he_o aim_v at_o this_o that_o you_o shall_v get_v your_o soul_n save_v from_o wrath_n and_o this_o shall_v not_o be_v prejudicial_a nor_o at_o the_o long_o run_v unsatisfy_v to_o yourselves_o and_o it_o will_v be_v very_o satisfy_v to_o he_o 2._o it_o be_v not_o only_o to_o aim_v at_o salvation_n simple_o but_o to_o aim_v at_o it_o by_o he_o to_o aim_v at_o pardon_n of_o sin_n and_o justification_n through_o his_o righteousness_n and_o satisfaction_n and_o that_o you_o will_v bring_v no_o other_o argument_n before_o god_n to_o plead_v upon_o for_o your_o peace_n with_o he_o but_o this_o and_o that_o you_o will_v aim_v at_o holiness_n as_o a_o fruit_n of_o his_o death_n he_o have_v purchase_v a_o peculiar_a people_n to_o himself_o to_o be_v zealous_a of_o good_a work_n as_o it_o be_v tit._n 2.14_o and_o that_o you_o will_v aim_v to_o do_v holy_a duty_n by_o his_o strengthen_n of_o you_o and_o that_o you_o will_v live_v by_o faith_n in_o he_o which_o be_v your_o victory_n over_o the_o world_n and_o the_o very_a soul_n of_o the_o practice_n of_o all_o holy_a duty_n and_o 3._o that_o you_o aim_v to_o have_v a_o comfortable_a refreshfull_a and_o cheerful_a life_n in_o he_o and_o by_o what_o be_v in_o he_o as_o if_o it_o be_v your_o own_o it_o be_v holiness_n though_o your_o own_o soul_n shall_v never_o be_v save_v nor_o he_o satisfy_v or_o his_o soul-travel_n this_o of_o all_o other_o challenge_n will_v be_v the_o sharp_a and_o most_o bitting_a and_o upon_o the_o other_o hand_n it_o may_v be_v most_o comfort_v to_o a_o poor_a body_n that_o be_v sensible_a of_o sin_n and_o afraid_a of_o wrath_n be_v there_o or_o can_v there_o be_v hazard_n shake_v it_o off_o in_o time_n 2_o if_o it_o be_v such_o a_o burden_n make_v this_o twofold_a use_n of_o it_o 1._o beware_v of_o keep_v still_o upon_o you_o the_o burden_n of_o by-gone_a sin_n but_o take_v with_o they_o seek_v to_o be_v suitable_o affect_v with_o they_o betake_v yourselves_o with_o all_o speed_n to_o christ_n and_o cast_v yourselves_o and_o your_o burden_n on_o he_o it_o be_v put_v to_o bear_v their_o iniquity_n and_o that_o they_o be_v not_o only_o nor_o main_o for_o example_n though_o we_o may_v well_o make_v that_o use_n of_o they_o but_o he_o be_v make_v liable_a for_o and_o if_o there_o be_v no_o way_n to_o make_v it_o sure_a that_o he_o have_v bear_v our_o iniquity_n but_o by_o believe_v it_o be_v a_o needless_a stir_n and_o noise_n that_o be_v make_v about_o the_o knowledge_n of_o election_n and_o of_o christ_n intention_n in_o his_o death_n for_o though_o we_o will_v say_v that_o he_o die_v for_o all_o it_o will_v not_o comfort_v except_o we_o say_v also_o that_o all_o go_v to_o heaven_n but_o be_v you_o burden_v with_o sin_n and_o have_v you_o by_o faith_n flee_v unto_o christ_n and_o do_v you_o actual_o rest_n upon_o he_o then_o you_o may_v on_o that_o ground_n conclude_v your_o interest_n in_o christ_n death_n and_o from_o that_o ascend_v to_o election_n that_o which_o make_v many_o believer_n to_o be_v in_o hesitation_n as_o to_o this_o be_v their_o never_o through_a and_o make_v it_o clear_a to_o themselves_o whether_o they_o have_v believe_v and_o therefore_o if_o you_o will_v see_v your_o election_n and_o interest_n in_o christ_n death_n put_v the_o matter_n of_o your_o believe_v to_o a_o point_n for_o it_o be_v the_o door_n whereby_o you_o win_v in_o to_o other_o secret_n of_o god_n such_o as_o election_n be_v and_o there_o be_v no_o other_o way_n to_o win_v to_o it_o therefore_o these_o two_o be_v knit_v together_o john_n 6.39_o 40._o this_o be_v the_o will_n of_o he_o that_o send_v i_o that_o of_o all_o that_o as_o if_o he_o have_v hear_v the_o transaction_n of_o redemption_n read_v over_o and_o have_v see_v his_o name_n in_o the_o book_n of_o life_n for_o our_o lord_n say_v john_n 3.16_o god_n so_o love_v the_o world_n that_o he_o give_v his_o only_a beget_v son_n that_o whosoever_o believe_v in_o he_o shall_v not_o perish_v but_o have_v eternal_a life_n if_o thou_o be_v a_o believer_n thy_o name_n be_v there_o christ_n have_v bear_v thy_o iniquity_n and_o what_o consolation_n be_v that_o to_o they_o who_o be_v clear_a anent_o their_o faith_n but_o alace_o it_o say_v there_o be_v much_o rot_a
