person_n at_o least_o in_o part_n for_o that_o meritoriousnesse_n of_o his_o death_n which_o may_v stand_v the_o world_n in_o stead_n for_o their_o justification_n so_o that_o there_o be_v no_o necessity_n at_o all_o of_o have_v recourse_n to_o the_o pretend_a imputation_n for_o salve_v the_o necessity_n or_o usefulness_n of_o it_o by_o what_o we_o have_v reason_v in_o this_o last_o passage_n it_o appear_v how_o little_a substance_n of_o truth_n there_o be_v in_o that_o which_o some_o much_o insist_v upon_o sect_n 9_o as_o a_o confirmation_n of_o the_o argument_n now_o under_o debate_n viz._n that_o the_o bare_a union_n of_o the_o godhead_n with_o the_o flesh_n or_o humane_a nature_n of_o christ_n do_v sufficient_o qualify_v it_o for_o a_o sacrifice_n they_o mean_v for_o christ_n may_v have_v suffer_v in_o the_o womb_n and_o that_o this_o suffering_n of_o his_o have_v be_v as_o full_o satisfactory_a for_o the_o world_n as_o those_o suffering_n be_v which_o he_o have_v now_o endure_v yet_o have_v he_o be_v as_o perfect_o righteous_a in_o this_o case_n and_o consequent_o have_v observe_v and_o keep_v the_o law_n as_o perfect_o as_o now_o he_o have_v do_v for_o the_o law_n require_v of_o infant_n during_o their_o infancy_n nothing_o but_o integrity_n and_o holiness_n of_o nature_n which_o doubtless_o the_o lord_n christ_n have_v from_o the_o first_o moment_n of_o his_o conception_n &_o a_o child_n or_o infant_n thus_o qualify_v i_o mean_v with_o holiness_n &_o integrity_n of_o nature_n keep_v the_o law_n as_o perfect_o &_o exact_o as_o a_o man_n live_v to_o be_v no_o reason_n why_o any_o difference_n shall_v be_v make_v in_o this_o case_n and_o consequent_o the_o fulfil_n of_o the_o law_n by_o christ_n be_v impute_v to_o we_o and_o account_v we_o but_o we_o may_v true_o be_v say_v to_o be_v dead_a and_o crucify_v and_o quicken_v &_o raise_v again_o and_o to_o sit_v with_o christ_n in_o heavenly_a place_n the_o scripture_n affirm_v all_o this_o ergo._n my_o answer_n to_o this_o argument_n be_v a_o protestation_n against_o the_o consequence_n of_o the_o major_a proposition_n answer_v as_o be_v insufficient_a our_o be_v dead_a and_o rise_v have_v fulfil_v the_o law_n with_o christ_n in_o the_o sense_n demand_v be_v this_o when_o the_o scripture_n say_v we_o be_v dead_a we_o be_v crucify_v we_o be_v quicken_v or_o rise_v again_o with_o christ_n etc._n etc._n the_o meaning_n be_v not_o that_o god_n look_v upon_o we_o as_o if_o we_o have_v lay_v down_o our_o natural_a life_n by_o death_n when_o he_o lay_v down_o his_o and_o as_o if_o this_o laâ—ing_a down_o ourlive_n be_v a_o fatisfaction_n to_o his_o justice_n for_o our_o sin_n for_o than_o we_o may_v aswell_o be_v say_v to_o have_v satisfy_v for_o ourselves_o or_o to_o have_v redeem_v ourselves_o with_o christ_n as_o to_o have_v die_v or_o be_v crucify_v with_o he_o such_o expression_n as_o these_o only_a import_n either_o a_o profession_n of_o such_o a_o death_n in_o we_o which_o hold_v proportion_n and_o have_v a_o spiritual_a kind_n of_o resemblance_n and_o likeness_n with_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n which_o be_v usual_o call_v a_o death_n or_o die_v unto_o sin_n and_o to_o the_o world_n rom._n 6.5_o or_o else_o this_o death_n itself_o real_o effect_v and_o wrought_v in_o we_o by_o that_o death_n of_o christ_n be_v therefore_o call_v the_o communion_n or_o fellowship_n of_o his_o suffering_n aswell_o as_o a_o conformity_n to_o his_o death_n phil._n 3.10_o you_o have_v the_o expression_n use_v in_o the_o former_a sense_n rom._n 6._o â—_o how_o shall_v we_o that_o be_v dead_a to_o sin_n that_o be_v who_o profess_v a_o be_v dead_a unto_o sin_n with_o christ_n live_v yet_o therein_o and_o so_o be_v a_o reproach_n to_o our_o profession_n in_o the_o the_o meaning_n be_v not_o that_o god_n look_v upon_o they_o as_o quicken_v from_o a_o natural_a or_o corporal_a death_n to_o a_o natural_a or_o glorify_a life_n and_o condition_n as_o christ_n quicken_a and_o rise_v again_o be_v which_o yet_o must_v be_v the_o meaning_n if_o any_o thing_n be_v make_v of_o it_o to_o strengthen_v the_o proposition_n now_o under_o assault_n but_o the_o clear_a meaning_n of_o such_o expression_n be_v either_o to_o signify_v the_o profession_n that_o be_v make_v by_o we_o of_o that_o newness_n of_o life_n which_o in_o way_n of_o a_o spiritual_a analogy_n and_o likeness_n answer_v that_o life_n whereunto_o christ_n be_v quicken_v and_o rise_v again_o from_o the_o death_n rom._n 6.5_o or_o else_o the_o new_a life_n itself_o raise_v and_o wrought_v in_o we_o by_o that_o quicken_a and_o rise_v again_o of_o christ_n from_o the_o dead_a in_o the_o former_a sense_n you_o shall_v find_v one_o of_o they_o use_v colos_n 3.1_o if_o you_o be_v rise_v with_o christ_n that_o be_v since_o you_o make_v profession_n of_o that_o new_a and_o excellent_a life_n which_o answer_v the_o life_n which_o christ_n live_v upon_o and_o after_o his_o resurrection_n give_v this_o account_n and_o evidence_n of_o it_o unto_o the_o world_n seek_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v above_o etc._n etc._n in_o the_o latter_a sense_n you_o may_v find_v the_o other_o eph._n 2.5_o even_o when_o we_o be_v dead_a in_o sin_n have_v quicken_v we_o together_o with_o christ_n mean_v that_o god_n by_o the_o quicken_a and_o raise_v of_o christ_n from_o the_o dead_a have_v beget_v they_o as_o peter_n speak_v to_o such_o a_o life_n which_o spiritual_o answer_v that_o quicken_a and_o rise_v again_o of_o christ_n but_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n as_o there_o be_v no_o such_o expression_n in_o scripture_n as_o this_o we_o have_v fulfil_v the_o law_n
