against_o the_o day_n of_o wrath_n and_o to_o make_v up_o a_o grea_a measure_n of_o his_o sin_n that_o god_n may_v make_v up_o a_o great_a measure_n of_o vengeance_n so_o that_o the_o great_a promotion_n for_o reprobate_n be_v to_o die_v so_o soon_o as_o they_o be_v bear_v for_o the_o long_o they_o live_v the_o more_o sin_n they_o commit_v and_o the_o more_o shall_v be_v their_o torment_n for_o the_o godly_a if_o god_n take_v they_o away_o soon_o it_o be_v to_o take_v they_o to_o a_o better_a place_n that_o they_o may_v be_v take_v from_o the_o evil_a
he_o to_o come_v out_o of_o his_o place_n and_o be_v a_o witness_n to_o such_o matter_n therefore_o unless_o it_o be_v matter_n of_o weight_n that_o tend_v to_o some_o glory_n of_o god_n or_o some_o name_n he_o be_v to_o take_v in_o his_o mouth_n he_o have_v fail_v in_o his_o swear_n and_o have_v take_v god_n name_n in_o vain_a and_o be_v to_o be_v humble_v for_o it_o for_o in_o the_o psal_n he_o say_v serve_v the_o lord_n with_o fear_n now_o if_o a_o man_n must_v not_o undertake_v any_o service_n of_o god_n without_o fear_n and_o reverence_n much_o less_o must_v he_o call_v god_n to_o be_v a_o special_a witness_n and_o after_o a_o special_a manner_n set_v himself_o before_o he_o without_o tremble_v and_o a_o special_a awe_n of_o his_o magestie_n and_o thus_o much_o for_o the_o a_o matter_n of_o it_o be_v it_o a_o small_a thing_n to_o fall_v into_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n nay_o there_o be_v some_o of_o god_n people_n that_o can_v say_v true_o through_o god_n mercy_n they_o have_v rather_o choose_v to_o have_v their_o soul_n drop_n from_o their_o body_n than_o a_o unaduised_a and_o passionate_a oath_n from_o their_o mouth_n for_o if_o god_n have_v threaten_v to_o bring_v damnation_n upon_o light_a swearer_n then_o where_o shall_v mad_a and_o frantic_a swearer_n appear_v these_o bitter_a swearer_n how_o great_a a_o damnation_n must_v they_o look_v for_o unless_o whereas_o other_o of_o the_o commandment_n for_o the_o most_o part_n have_v no_o reason_n annex_v to_o they_o in_o the_o decalogue_n though_o in_o the_o scripture_n else_o where_o they_o have_v this_o and_o the_o second_o commandment_n have_v diverse_a reason_n add_v unto_o they_o that_o man_n may_v have_v a_o great_a regard_n unto_o it_o therefore_o if_o we_o will_v do_v any_o thing_n for_o god_n sake_n then_o do_v this_o for_o his_o sake_n if_o a_o friend_n shall_v come_v to_o we_o and_o say_v i_o have_v some_o ten_o errand_n which_o i_o will_v have_v you_o do_v for_o i_o and_o i_o will_v special_a charge_n especial_o if_o his_o friend_n shall_v in_o most_o of_o the_o other_o give_v but_o the_o bare_a commandment_n and_o thing_n set_v down_o without_o any_o more_o word_n but_o shall_v insist_v upon_o that_o and_o give_v he_o reason_n upon_o reason_n why_o he_o shall_v have_v a_o special_a care_n of_o it_o but_o so_o god_n say_v to_o we_o he_o give_v we_o warn_v before_o show_v that_o we_o be_v ready_a to_o forget_v it_o but_o he_o will_v have_v we_o strive_v against_o this_o forgetfulness_n and_o then_o because_o we_o shall_v not_o forget_v but_o do_v it_o he_o urge_v it_o with_o many_o reason_n now_o then_o to_o forget_v this_o be_v it_o not_o a_o plain_a contempt_n and_o neglect_n it_o follow_v to_o keep_v it_o holy_a now_o the_o lord_n show_v what_o be_v to_o be_v do_v on_o the_o sabbath_n day_n namely_o we_o must_v keep_v it_o holy_a it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o forbear_v our_o own_o work_n and_o so_o to_o keep_v it_o idle_o but_o we_o must_v be_v as_o careful_a to_o do_v god_n work_v and_o so_o to_o keep_v it_o holy_a hence_o than_o we_o learn_v this_o doctrine_n that_o the_o sabbath_n must_v be_v employ_v in_o holy_a exercise_n it_o must_v not_o be_v a_o bare_a rest_n but_o a_o sanctify_a rest_n so_o cease_v from_o worldly_a thing_n as_o that_o we_o be_v take_v up_o in_o heavenly_a thing_n for_o idleness_n be_v a_o sin_n every_o day_n but_o much_o more_o on_o the_o sabbath_n no_o man_n have_v allowance_n in_o god_n word_n to_o spend_v any_o time_n idle_o but_o it_o be_v a_o damnable_a sin_n in_o the_o week_n day_n much_o less_o be_v we_o warrant_v to_o spend_v god_n time_n unprofitablie_o and_o idle_o of_o the_o twain_o it_o be_v better_o leave_v one_o own_o work_n undo_v upon_o one_o own_o day_n permit_v for_o his_o labour_n than_o god_n work_n on_o god_n day_n appoint_v for_o his_o service_n now_o the_o reason_n why_o this_o must_v be_v spend_v only_o in_o holy_a exercise_n be_v take_v from_o the_o ill_a effect_n that_o will_v follow_v if_o we_o do_v not_o spend_v it_o in_o these_o work_n these_o ill_a effect_n we_o shall_v see_v in_o exod._n 31._o 12._o where_o god_n command_v they_o that_o they_o shall_v abstain_v from_o all_o work_n and_o keep_v it_o a_o holy_a for_o if_o they_o do_v work_v even_o in_o make_v garment_n and_o thing_n for_o the_o temple_n which_o seem_v to_o pertain_v to_o god_n much_o more_o in_o thing_n of_o their_o own_o these_o two_o evil_n will_v follow_v first_o they_o shall_v die_v the_o death_n their_o life_n shall_v be_v take_v away_o they_o must_v die_v a_o natural_a death_n and_o then_o second_o they_o must_v be_v cut_v off_o from_o their_o people_n i_o be_v subject_n to_o the_o curse_n of_o god_n and_o be_v cast_v off_o from_o the_o people_n of_o god_n by_o solemn_a excommunication_n these_o be_v the_o punishment_n of_o pollute_v the_o sabbath_n no_o small_a punishment_n and_o these_o god_n do_v execute_v daily_o even_o among_o we_o for_o though_o the_o law_n of_o the_o land_n take_v not_o hold_v on_o such_o person_n to_o put_v they_o to_o death_n yet_o god_n give_v they_o over_o to_o commit_v some_o sin_n which_o man_n law_n punish_v with_o death_n and_o the_o first_o cause_n of_o all_o and_o that_o at_o which_o god_n strike_v and_o which_o their_o own_o soul_n feel_v most_o heavy_a as_o appear_v by_o the_o daily_a complaint_n when_o they_o be_v bring_v to_o execution_n be_v that_o they_o never_o regard_v the_o sabbath_n have_v no_o care_n to_o hear_v god_n word_n &_o to_o spend_v the_o day_n in_o duty_n of_o religion_n &_o in_o prayer_n of_o commendation_n and_o a_o testimony_n of_o his_o humble_a and_o love_a heart_n that_o where_o he_o come_v he_o be_v very_o courteous_a to_o all_o man_n even_o infidel_n man_n of_o a_o false_a religion_n and_o do_v carry_v himself_o in_o all_o good_a sort_n unto_o they_o who_o ever_o as_o when_o he_o have_v to_o do_v with_o the_o hittite_n first_o he_o bow_v himself_o in_o all_o courteous_a sort_n and_o then_o his_o word_n be_v gentle_a and_o nothing_o savour_v of_o a_o proud_a command_a but_o with_o all_o mild_a and_o kind_a persuasion_n and_o entreaty_n and_o then_o when_o they_o wild_a he_o to_o bury_v the_o dead_a in_o any_o of_o their_o sepulcher_n give_v they_o hearty_a thanks_n and_o with_o the_o like_a courtesy_n and_o good_a speech_n as_o a_o fore_n propound_v his_o request_n and_o this_o gentle_a deal_n do_v so_o win_v the_o heart_n of_o these_o heathen_a people_n and_o make_v he_o so_o well_o account_n and_o esteem_v among_o they_o as_o they_o say_v to_o he_o thou_o be_v a_o prince_n of_o god_n amongst_o we_o and_o will_v deny_v he_o nothing_o and_o so_o when_o he_o meet_v the_o angel_n which_o he_o take_v for_o no_o other_o but_o for_o common_a traveller_n he_o salute_v they_o bow_v his_o body_n in_o all_o dutiful_a sort_n and_o give_v they_o good_a term_n and_o call_v they_o lord_n and_o entreat_v they_o to_o eat_v a_o morsel_n with_o he_o and_o by_o this_o affability_n and_o kind_a usage_n of_o himself_o he_o do_v not_o only_o get_v favour_n and_o good_a account_n among_o those_o with_o who_o he_o live_v but_o have_v get_v credit_n till_o this_o day_n and_o shall_v to_o the_o world_n end_n that_o be_v a_o man_n of_o such_o worth_a and_o good_a desert_n so_o well_o grace_v and_o of_o such_o place_n and_o wealth_n all_o this_o do_v not_o make_v he_o sour_a careless_a or_o disdainful_a but_o he_o show_v he_o kind_a and_o amiable_a even_o to_o the_o mean_a for_o indeed_o proud_a look_n haughty_a look_n and_o a_o scornful_a and_o a_o disdainful_a eye_n that_o be_v such_o a_o thing_n as_o god_n abhor_v he_o do_v abhor_v a_o haughty_a eye_n and_o arrogant_a look_n as_o he_o say_v in_o the_o proverb_n but_o we_o see_v this_o be_v such_o a_o thing_n as_o many_o do_v it_o for_o their_o credit_n and_o think_v to_o get_v credit_n by_o this_o look_n on_o high_a those_o among_o we_o that_o be_v man_n of_o no_o worth_n that_o have_v no_o good_a quality_n or_o property_n nothing_o commendable_a or_o worth_a esteem_n inward_a or_o outward_a no_o grace_n to_o praise_v they_o no_o wealth_n to_o set_v they_o out_o no_o parentage_n to_o make_v they_o have_v in_o account_n swaggerer_n ruffian_n profane_a beast_n &_o filthy_a drunken_a swine_n that_o make_v their_o belly_n their_o god_n these_o abject_a base_a person_n the_o scum_n and_o froth_n of_o the_o whole_a earth_n rude_a in_o behaviour_n wicked_a in_o heart_n and_o careless_a in_o life_n think_v if_o they_o can_v look_v big_a and_o carry_v a_o proud_a and_o disdainful_a face_n and_o overcrow_v every_o man_n and_o care_n for_o no_o man_n scorn_v their_o better_n and_o prefer_v themselves_o before_o all_o then_o forsooth_o they_o be_v man_n of_o some_o name_n they_o shall_v be_v account_v of_o &_o they_o be_v worthy_a to_o be_v look_v after_o that_o think_v to_o get_v credit_n by_o contemn_v every_o body_n and_o to_o be_v have_v in_o account_n by_o make_v no_o account_n of_o any_o one_o this_o be_v these_o courage_n this_o be_v their_o valour_n and_o they_o have_v nothing_o to_o grace_v themselves_o but_o this_o kind_n of_o rudeness_n but_o in_o truth_n this_o disgrace_v this_o discredit_v this_o proclaim_v their_o shame_n and_o show_v that_o they_o be_v light_n &_o empty_a of_o all_o goodness_n and_o if_o they_o have_v many_o other_o good_a part_n yet_o this_o will_v hurie_v all_o and_o make_v they_o contemn_v in_o every_o man_n heart_n and_o eye_n to_o be_v so_o scornful_a &_o contemptuous_a to_o every_o one_o this_o be_v ismaels_n kind_n of_o life_n his_o hand_n be_v against_o every_o man_n he_o regard_v none_o nor_o care_v for_o none_o but_o set_v they_o all_o at_o defiance_n and_o at_o naught_o therefore_o every_o man_n poor_a he_o be_v a_o father_n to_o the_o fatherless_a &_o husband_n to_o the_o widow_n and_o this_o do_v comfort_v he_o in_o time_n of_o his_o trouble_n more_o than_o all_o wealth_n in_o the_o world_n this_o be_v command_v proverb_n 24._o 11._o deliver_v they_o that_o be_v draw_v to_o death_n and_o will_v thou_o not_o deliver_v they_o that_o be_v lead_v to_o be_v slay_v if_o thou_o say_v behold_v our_o excuse_n that_o man_n be_v ready_a to_o speak_v in_o such_o case_n alas_o i_o know_v not_o that_o he_o have_v such_o need_n of_o my_o help_n and_o if_o i_o shall_v meddle_v i_o may_v bring_v a_o old_a house_n upon_o my_o own_o head_n and_o trouble_v myself_o when_o i_o need_v not_o but_o he_o cut_v of_o all_o say_n do_v not_o god_n see_v thou_o and_o know_v thy_o heart_n as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v well_o these_o excuse_n may_v dazzle_v man_n eye_n and_o make_v a_o fair_a show_n with_o they_o that_o can_v see_v nothing_o but_o show_n but_o god_n he_o look_v not_o so_o much_o to_o the_o tongue_n and_o what_o one_o can_v say_v for_o himself_o but_o he_o ponder_v the_o heart_n do_v not_o see_v it_o light_o but_o consider_v &_o know_v every_o particular_a thing_n and_o circumstance_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v no_o shift_a and_o double_v when_o he_o come_v to_o take_v a_o trial_n of_o we_o and_o he_o know_v that_o all_o these_o excuse_n come_v from_o selfelove_n and_o love_n of_o lucre_n and_o commodity_n that_o one_o will_v spare_v cost_v and_o live_v at_o case_n and_o rather_o see_v a_o other_o oppress_v with_o wrong_n then_o stir_v himself_o a_o little_a to_o help_v he_o and_o last_o of_o all_o he_o say_v you_o that_o be_v so_o loath_a to_o suffer_v a_o little_a trouble_n and_o at_o a_o little_a charge_n to_o help_v a_o other_o man_n in_o his_o misery_n know_v you_o not_o that_o god_n recompense_v man_n according_a to_o their_o work_n that_o he_o cause_v they_o to_o reap_v like_a for_o like_a and_o may_v not_o you_o come_v to_o the_o like_a misery_n yourself_o and_o then_o because_o you_o have_v no_o heart_n not_o will_n to_o help_v a_o other_o you_o shall_v see_v other_o sit_v as_o quiet_o by_o you_o and_o not_o venture_v to_o give_v you_o any_o help_n but_o now_o man_n be_v come_v to_o that_o selfelove_n and_o want_v of_o other_o man_n wrong_n as_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n do_v in_o a_o far_a country_n and_o in_o a_o other_o age_n as_o though_o it_o nothing_o pertain_v to_o they_o they_o have_v nothing_o to_o do_v with_o it_o but_o those_o that_o be_v of_o the_o better_a sort_n will_v only_o have_v a_o little_a idle_a pity_n and_o mercy_n of_o the_o mouth_n in_o a_o few_o word_n alas_o i_o be_o sorry_a and_o it_o be_v pity_v that_o honest_a man_n shall_v be_v thus_o wrong_v but_o never_o put_v to_o a_o hand_n to_o help_v nor_o stir_v a_o finger_n to_o do_v any_o good_a to_o their_o relief_n neither_o
of_o he_o or_o any_o thing_n belong_v to_o he_o but_o with_o desire_n of_o his_o good_a every_o way_n to_o covet_v signify_v to_o have_v a_o motion_n of_o the_o heart_n without_o consent_n of_o will_n from_o this_o than_o that_o god_n forbid_v covet_v we_o learn_v that_o the_o first_o motion_n and_o inclination_n of_o the_o heart_n to_o any_o sin_n though_o a_o man_n never_o yield_v to_o it_o or_o plot_n and_o cast_v about_o how_o to_o bring_v it_o to_o pass_v be_v a_o sin_n and_o the_o reason_n be_v plain_a first_o because_o god_n have_v forbid_v it_o as_o in_o rom_n 7._o paul_n say_v he_o have_v not_o know_v lust_n to_o be_v a_o sin_n but_o that_o the_o law_n say_v thou_o shall_v not_o lust_n he_o know_v and_o many_o heathen_a man_n that_o never_o hear_v of_o god_n law_n do_v confess_v that_o the_o inward_a thought_n join_v with_o consent_n and_o full_a purpose_n to_o do_v they_o if_o occasion_n serve_v be_v sin_n but_o for_o those_o that_o do_v but_o as_o it_o be_v pass_v through_o rule_n do_v as_o you_o will_v be_v do_v by_o he_o shall_v see_v that_o they_o agree_v not_o with_o it_o for_o no_o man_n will_v be_v willing_a to_o have_v a_o other_o man_n conceive_v the_o least_o proceed_v from_o natural_a corruption_n now_o who_o can_v draw_v a_o clean_a thing_n out_o of_o a_o unclean_a thing_n who_o can_v pull_v good_a fruit_n out_o of_o a_o bad_a tree_n be_v then_o effect_n of_o our_o natural_a pollution_n that_o we_o receive_v from_o adam_n for_o if_o we_o have_v continue_v in_o innocence_n we_o shall_v have_v be_v perfect_a without_o any_o such_o motion_n of_o the_o inward_a heart_n they_o be_v naught_o for_o what_o ever_o come_v from_o sin_n be_v sin_n last_o if_o the_o effect_n be_v mark_v they_o shall_v appear_v to_o be_v evil_a now_o saint_n james._n 1._o 14._o set_n down_o the_o effect_n of_o these_o evil_a thought_n &_o motion_n every_o man_n say_v he_o be_v tempt_v when_o he_o be_v draw_v away_o by_o his_o own_o concupiscence_n and_o be_v entice_v this_o saint_n james_n show_v that_o let_v one_o make_v as_o little_a account_n of_o these_o thought_n as_o he_o please_v and_o count_v they_o small_a mattter_n yet_o the_o work_n that_o they_o do_v be_v not_o small_a for_o they_o draw_v on_o a_o side_n from_o behold_v god_n they_o turn_v the_o heart_n from_o consider_v god_n to_o mark_v those_o thing_n that_o he_o shall_v not_o &_o then_o when_o he_o be_v pull_v from_o look_v unto_o god_n he_o fall_v to_o according_a and_o practise_v and_o then_o sin_n bring_v death_n so_o that_o these_o be_v like_o a_o little_a spark_n of_o fire_n light_v upon_o tinder_n or_o toe_n &_o such_o like_a that_o if_o they_o be_v not_o quick_o quench_v will_v grow_v to_o a_o great_a flame_n so_o the_o danger_n be_v great_a that_o come_v from_o every_o one_o of_o these_o that_o we_o so_o little_a regard_n for_o there_o be_v not_o the_o least_o but_o it_o harden_v the_o hart_n and_o withdraw_v it_o from_o god_n and_o make_v it_o more_o unfit_a to_o pray_v or_o hear_v or_o do_v any_o thing_n that_o be_v good_a but_o more_o easy_o to_o be_v draw_v to_o any_o sin_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o slight_o to_o be_v pass_v over_o so_o that_o because_o they_o break_v god_n commandment_n &_o be_v against_o the_o law_n of_o charity_n and_o cane_n from_o a_o evil_a cause_n &_o bring_v with_o they_o such_o evil_a effect_n therefore_o the_o least_o imagination_n arise_v in_o the_o heart_n without_o any_o agree_n of_o the_o mind_n to_o put_v it_o in_o practice_n be_v sin_n and_o deserve_v death_n the_o use_n that_o we_o shall_v make_v of_o this_o be_v for_o our_o continual_a humiliation_n that_o our_o nature_n &_o the_o whole_a frame_n of_o our_o soul_n &_o body_n be_v such_o as_o no_o minute_n almost_o go_v over_o our_o head_n but_o some_o sin_n some_o evil_a and_o vain_a motion_n or_o other_o go_v through_o our_o hart_n &_o arise_v from_o the_o puddle_n of_o our_o flesh_n our_o nature_n be_v like_o some_o great_a fireband_n that_o if_o it_o be_v never_o so_o little_o stir_v send_v forth_o many_o spark_n on_o every_o side_n therefore_o we_o must_v learn_v in_o this_o regard_n to_o deny_v ourselves_o &_o to_o fall_v down_o before_o god_n beseech_v he_o to_o heal_v our_o nature_n &_o to_o wash_v and_o cleanse_v it_o more_o &_o more_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n than_o one_o have_v make_v one_o good_a use_n of_o the_o law_n when_o he_o be_v so_o touch_v with_o the_o sight_n of_o his_o sin_n as_o that_o he_o go_v quite_o out_o of_o himself_o when_o the_o law_n have_v so_o stop_v his_o mouth_n as_o that_o he_o can_v allege_v nothing_o in_o himself_o wherefore_o he_o shall_v not_o be_v damn_v but_o rely_v and_o cast_v himself_o only_o on_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n in_o the_o merit_n of_o christ_n again_o this_o teach_v to_o use_v all_o good_a mean_n to_o keep_v our_o heart_n from_o these_o ill_a motion_n and_o hinder_v this_o firebrand_n from_o spark_v first_o make_v a_o cournanant_n with_o our_o eye_n to_o look_v upon_o nothing_o &_o our_o ear_n to_o hear_v nothing_o and_o all_o our_o sense_n to_o admit_v nothing_o into_o the_o heart_n that_o may_v stir_v up_o and_o provoke_v the_o naughtiness_n of_o it_o second_o take_v down_o the_o flesh_n often_o by_o fast_v and_o prayer_n &_o hear_v and_o such_o spiritual_a exercise_n for_o this_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o it_o grow_v so_o strong_a because_o we_o do_v not_o set_v ourselves_o to_o resist_v it_o and_o fight_v against_o it_o for_o if_o we_o will_v beseech_v god_n to_o give_v a_o blessing_n and_o use_v all_o the_o good_a mean_n that_o he_o have_v appoint_v to_o kill_v and_o crucify_v it_o it_o will_v be_v a_o good_a help_n to_o we_o and_o we_o shall_v prevail_v more_o against_o it_o three_o learn_v to_o set_v our_o mind_n on_o work_n always_o in_o his_o hart_n for_o our_o sake_n willing_o to_o bestow_v his_o soul_n &_o body_n and_o give_v his_o body_n to_o death_n and_o his_o soul_n to_o suffer_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n and_o shall_v we_o account_v it_o a_o burden_n to_o bestow_v one_o day_n in_o seven_o upon_o he_o to_o be_v make_v partaker_n especial_o of_o such_o benefit_n and_o god_n have_v willing_o give_v we_o six_o for_o our_o to_o god_n because_o have_v be_v idle_a and_o unthriftie_a on_o the_o six_o they_o have_v neglect_v some_o business_n that_o now_o lie_v upon_o they_o the_o seven_o day_n and_o then_o it_o be_v a_o their_o heart_n thank_v god_n that_o he_o have_v give_v they_o one_o day_n wherein_o they_o may_v lighten_v their_o heart_n of_o all_o worldly_a care_n and_o throw_v of_o all_o grief_n &_o thought_n of_o debt_n or_o such_o like_a to_o give_v themselves_o whole_o to_o seek_v comfort_n in_o he_o that_o will_v provide_v for_o they_o in_o due_a time_n and_o have_v provide_v this_o sabbath_n as_o a_o
