be_v set_v as_o a_o condition_n require_v that_o we_o may_v be_v forgive_v yet_o it_o be_v not_o for_o our_o forgive_n of_o other_o that_o god_n will_v forgive_v we_o but_o this_o condition_n be_v put_v to_o teach_v we_o that_o when_o we_o come_v to_o god_n in_o prayer_n we_o shall_v not_o come_v in_o wrath_n or_o hatred_n against_o other_o man_n or_o with_o a_o desire_n of_o revenge_n for_o this_o be_v contrary_n to_o the_o good_a spirit_n of_o prayer_n so_o then_o we_o must_v here_o observe_v that_o our_o forgive_n of_o other_o be_v not_o a_o cause_n of_o our_o forgiveness_n but_o one_o effect_n of_o our_o justification_n and_o a_o token_n of_o the_o image_n of_o god_n in_o we_o for_o this_o condition_n import_v that_o we_o must_v exercise_v mercy_n towards_o our_o brethren_n and_o so_o break_v off_o the_o course_n of_o our_o sin_n if_o we_o look_v for_o mercy_n at_o god_n hand_n for_o the_o word_n in_o this_o petition_n be_v comparative_a betoken_v a_o likeness_n and_o similitude_n between_o god_n forgive_a and_o we_o which_o must_v be_v right_o understand_v because_o our_o forgiveness_n be_v mingle_v with_o much_o corruption_n through_o want_n of_o mercy_n and_o therefore_o we_o must_v not_o understand_v it_o of_o the_o measure_n of_o forgiveness_n nor_o yet_o of_o the_o manner_n simple_o but_o especial_o of_o the_o very_a act_n of_o forgive_a and_o the_o 2._o they_o place_v their_o happiness_n in_o the_o good_n of_o this_o world_n than_o which_o nothing_o more_o vain_a prov._n 25.5_o 3._o they_o make_v themselves_o slave_n to_o that_o which_o shall_v be_v their_o slave_n and_o drudge_n for_o they_o know_v not_o who_o their_o enemy_n for_o aught_o they_o know_v 4._o with_o much_o pain_n care_n grief_n and_o fear_n they_o travel_v for_o that_o which_o if_o god_n honour_v be_v forget_v may_v soon_o be_v most_o riotous_o and_o prodigal_o lavish_v away_o 5._o they_o make_v themselves_o vassal_n to_o satan_n and_o seek_v by_o he_o to_o become_v wealthy_a whereas_o indeed_o it_o be_v the_o blessing_n of_o god_n which_o make_v rich_a prov._n 10.22_o if_o such_o have_v wealth_n they_o have_v it_o in_o wrath_n and_o in_o wrath_n will_v it_o be_v take_v from_o they_o 6._o they_o bring_v god_n curse_v into_o their_o house_n and_o with_o their_o inheritance_n leave_v it_o to_o their_o posterity_n in_o most_o kind_n of_o policy_n lurk_v this_o sin_n of_o theft_n therefore_o in_o the_o use_n of_o all_o policy_n observe_v these_o four_o principal_a caveat_n to_o make_v it_o lawful_a 1._o nothing_o must_v be_v say_v do_v or_o intend_v against_o the_o truth_n special_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n 2._o nothing_o must_v be_v say_v do_v or_o intend_v against_o the_o honour_n of_o god_n in_o word_n deed_n or_o show_v 3._o nothing_o must_v be_v wrought_v or_o contrive_v against_o justice_n that_o be_v due_a to_o man_n 4._o all_o action_n of_o policy_n must_v be_v such_o as_o pertain_v to_o our_o call_v and_o be_v within_o the_o limit_n and_o bound_n thereof_o and_o because_o murmur_v at_o our_o condition_n and_o state_n of_o life_n frequent_o occasion_n this_o sin_n of_o theft_n let_v we_o be_v advise_v how_o low_a soever_o our_o condition_n be_v not_o to_o murmur_v at_o it_o for_o these_o reason_n viz_o 1._o because_o contentation_n be_v a_o ready_a and_o approve_a medicine_n for_o all_o misery_n and_o malady_n whatsoever_o 2._o we_o have_v a_o gracious_a promise_n from_o god_n own_o mouth_n that_o he_o will_v not_o suffer_v we_o to_o lack_v nor_o leave_v we_o destitute_a of_o help_n but_o will_v support_v our_o want_n and_o minister_v to_o our_o necessity_n psal_n 34.9_o 10._o 3._o the_o providence_n of_o god_n rule_v all_o thing_n so_o that_o nothing_o befall_v we_o but_o by_o his_o will_n and_o pleasure_n therefore_o ought_v we_o to_o rely_v ourselves_o whole_o upon_o he_o 4._o no_o man_n have_v so_o mean_a a_o estate_n and_o condition_n but_o he_o may_v gain_v some_o glory_n to_o that_o we_o be_v here_o as_o it_o be_v in_o a_o prison_n or_o pilgrimage_n in_o a_o place_n of_o bondage_n or_o banishment_n 9_o it_o be_v god_n will_v to_o prove_v our_o patience_n how_o we_o will_v bear_v affliction_n as_o become_v good_a disciple_n of_o christ_n 10._o let_v we_o remember_v how_o the_o only_a son_n of_o god_n take_v upon_o he_o the_o form_n of_o a_o servant_n the_o lord_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n
