manner_n i_o understand_v that_o there_o be_v in_o the_o man_n which_o have_v the_o spirit_n a_o affection_n of_o the_o spirit_n to_o be_v willing_a to_o accept_v and_o confess_v the_o gospel_n and_o the_o flesh_n repugn_v and_o contradict_v because_o it_o have_v no_o part_n in_o such_o desire_n nor_o in_o such_o will_n it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o a_o man_n that_o have_v the_o spirit_n feel_v spirit_n a_o weakness_n in_o faith_n that_o befalling_a in_o a_o man_n which_o befall_v in_o the_o world_n in_o a_o province_n or_o in_o a_o commonwealth_n i_o will_v say_v that_o as_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o when_o any_o person_n speak_v or_o publish_v any_o thing_n with_o a_o affection_n of_o the_o spirit_n he_o present_o find_v a_o contrast_n a_o contradiction_n and_o outward_a persecution_n although_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n which_o be_v ordinary_o speak_v &_o practise_v but_o without_o the_o spirit_n and_o out_o of_o humane_a affection_n so_o likewise_o when_o a_o man_n go_v about_o through_o the_o motion_n of_o the_o spirit_n to_o persuade_v himself_o and_o confirm_v himself_o in_o any_o thing_n pertain_v to_o piety_n or_o justification_n he_o sudden_o find_v a_o inward_a contrast_n and_o contradiction_n for_o his_o own_o affection_n &_o his_o own_o appetite_n which_o be_v mortal_a enemy_n to_o the_o spirit_n rise_v up_o against_o he_o and_o this_o come_v to_o pass_v not_o withstand_v that_o the_o self_n same_o thing_n have_v be_v former_o accept_v and_o believe_v of_o he_o by_o his_o own_o proper_a affection_n and_o opinion_n whereupon_o i_o gather_v this_o conclusion_n that_o it_o be_v a_o sign_n that_o it_o be_v the_o holy_a spirit_n which_o
it_o it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o as_o they_o who_o believe_v the_o evil_a of_o adam_n and_o the_o good_a of_o christ_n pass_v through_o the_o evil_a of_o adam_n &_o the_o good_a of_o christ_n be_v who_o in_o this_o present_a life_n do_v not_o give_v themselves_o to_o live_v as_o dead_a and_o raise_v up_o imitate_v the_o life_n of_o christ_n do_v not_o believe_v that_o they_o die_v in_o adam_n and_o that_o they_o rise_v again_o in_o christ_n how_o much_o soever_o they_o say_v and_o affirm_v to_o believe_v both_o the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o thing_n for_o if_o they_o do_v believe_v they_o there_o be_v no_o doubt_n but_o they_o will_v apply_v themselves_o to_o live_v as_o dead_a and_o raise_v up_o this_o be_v proper_o the_o efficacy_n of_o faith_n to_o reduce_v by_o little_a and_o
