when_o yet_o it_o run_v smooth_o and_o without_o noise_n some_o be_v ingenious_o educate_v which_o may_v a_o little_a polish_v the_o outward_a and_o inward_a man_n both_o but_o refine_n of_o lust_n be_v not_o mortify_v they_o there_o be_v no_o recovery_n from_o our_o misery_n and_o servitude_n and_o disorder_n through_o our_o corruption_n but_o by_o the_o put_n off_o the_o old_a man_n and_o mortification_n of_o the_o body_n and_o its_o deed_n let_v this_o then_o be_v a_o second_o consideration_n which_o show_v the_o necessity_n of_o it_o viz._n that_o it_o be_v the_o cure_n of_o our_o sin_n and_o misery_n which_o lie_v in_o the_o frame_n and_o act_n of_o corrupt_a nature_n if_o any_o say_v that_o those_o who_o set_v themselves_o to_o mortify_v sin_n do_v but_o raise_v tumult_n shall_v have_v peace_n with_o it_o but_o he_o choose_v the_o trouble_n of_o a_o constant_a war_n with_o it_o rather_o than_o to_o war_n with_o god_n and_o his_o conscience_n sin_n reign_v over_o his_o heart_n when_o he_o be_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o his_o conflict_n with_o sin_n and_o the_o more_o vigorous_o he_o oppose_v sin_n the_o great_a be_v his_o peace_n he_o be_v hearten_v and_o animate_v when_o he_o remember_v what_o he_o contend_v for_o and_o when_o he_o think_v on_o his_o assistant_n and_o more_o when_o he_o feel_v strength_n renew_v he_o be_v put_v on_o frequent_a act_n of_o faith_n and_o there_o be_v some_o inward_a pleasure_n in_o every_o act_n of_o faith_n yea_o and_o when_o sin_n be_v too_o strong_a for_o he_o he_o be_v draw_v forth_o in_o act_n of_o godly_a sorrow_n wherein_o the_o believer_n have_v a_o real_a pleasure_n the_o trouble_n of_o other_o for_o sin_n be_v but_o the_o begin_n of_o sorrow_n and_o of_o the_o same_o kind_n with_o that_o which_o be_v in_o hell_n therefore_o they_o will_v fain_o flee_v from_o they_o but_o sorrow_n for_o sin_n be_v the_o bitter_a fruit_n of_o these_o conflict_n yet_o it_o be_v mingle_v with_o joy_n outward_a enmity_n that_o let_v the_o godly_a be_v never_o so_o quiet_a and_o peaceable_a and_o useful_a in_o the_o society_n they_o live_v in_o it_o be_v never_o the_o less_o yea_o such_o be_v it_o that_o no_o natural_a bond_n nor_o relation_n can_v extinguish_v it_o no_o friendship_n and_o no_o bond_n in_o nature_n so_o firm_a but_o it_o can_v break_v and_o dissolve_v no_o soon_o get_v christ_n a_o little_a foot_n in_o a_o family_n or_o town_n or_o village_n but_o there_o be_v discord_n and_o jarring_n satan_n and_o his_o party_n take_v the_o alarm_n as_o soon_o as_o any_o thing_n of_o christ_n appear_v in_o one_o he_o be_v as_o a_o sign_n and_o a_o wonder_n to_o a_o profane_a generation_n the_o world_n be_v like_o a_o stepmother_n and_o near_a friend_n change_v their_o countenance_n 3._o this_o be_v a_o irreconcilable_a enmity_n this_o controversy_n can_v never_o be_v take_v up_o nor_o compose_v the_o hatred_n be_v so_o root_v that_o the_o wise_a and_o great_a reconciler_n and_o peacemaker_n can_v never_o yet_o unite_v these_o two_o party_n no_o more_o than_o they_o can_v alter_v man_n nature_n it_o be_v folly_n to_o think_v or_o talk_v of_o reconcile_a they_o this_o decree_n of_o heaven_n be_v strong_a than_o the_o decree_n of_o the_o mede_n and_o persian_n man_n may_v talk_v of_o accommodation_n and_o comprehension_n and_o condescension_n they_o may_v talk_v of_o prudence_n and_o moderation_n and_o mutual_a forbearance_n and_o dispense_n with_o some_o thing_n for_o peace-sake_n but_o can_v light_v and_o darkness_n can_v heaven_n and_o hell_n agree_v there_o may_v be_v heal_a method_n find_v out_o for_o unite_n the_o godly_a when_o differ_v in_o some_o particular_n their_o have_v one_o spirit_n and_o new_a nature_n be_v a_o good_a foundation_n for_o agreement_n but_o for_o the_o unsanctified_a the_o godly_a differ_v from_o they_o not_o so_o much_o in_o opinion_n and_o outward_a practice_n as_o in_o their_o spirit_n so_o that_o though_o they_o shall_v unite_v so_o far_o as_o to_o profess_v the_o same_o truth_n and_o worship_n god_n in_o the_o same_o outward_a manner_n be_v there_o never_o so_o much_o uniformity_n in_o these_o thing_n yet_o can_v they_o never_o cement_v nor_o come_v to_o the_o kindly_a union_n of_o spirit_n and_o all_o this_o we_o may_v see_v in_o our_o day_n this_o enmity_n be_v never_o more_o manifest_a there_o be_v a_o party_n drive_v satan_n design_n there_o be_v various_a form_n among_o they_o but_o all_o conspire_v against_o the_o true_o godly_a as_o edom_n ammon_n and_o amalek_n and_o there_o be_v a_o party_n that_o maintain_v christ_n cause_n that_o keep_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n and_o have_v the_o testimony_n of_o jesus_n though_o under_o divers_a denomination_n also_o and_o that_o the_o other_o quarrel_n with_o they_o be_v mere_o from_o the_o old_a enmity_n be_v easy_a to_o make_v out_o it_o be_v manifest_a that_o whatever_o different_a notion_n man_n have_v of_o form_n of_o worship_n and_o church-discipline_n yet_o the_o matter_n lie_v not_o there_o for_o how_o unlike_a be_v they_o to_o many_o godly_a person_n of_o the_o former_a generation_n and_o to_o some_o yet_o in_o outward_a communion_n with_o they_o who_o profess_v the_o same_o principle_n and_o what_o a_o kindly_a sympathy_n and_o warm_a side_n have_v they_o to_o the_o profane_a and_o to_o papist_n from_o who_o they_o will_v seem_v in_o their_o principle_n to_o differ_v more_o than_o from_o we_o oh_o see_v here_o your_o temper_n and_o state_n by_o nature_n and_o bless_v god_n if_o he_o have_v slay_v this_o enmity_n to_o christ_n and_o bring_v you_o over_o to_o his_o side_n what_o remain_v in_o the_o text_n i_o shall_v in_o a_o few_o word_n absolve_v 2._o then_o observe_v that_o as_o the_o lord_n have_v decree_v this_o enmity_n so_o he_o have_v decree_v that_o satan_n shall_v vex_v christ_n and_o his_o follower_n he_o shall_v bruise_v their_o heel_n think_v not_o to_o get_v to_o heaven_n without_o some_o hurt_n or_o something_o that_o will_v make_v thou_o halt_v reckon_v upon_o it_o to_o bear_v the_o mark_n of_o satan_n and_o his_o seed_n malice_n observe_v 3._o that_o god_n have_v
