though_o all_o of_o they_o be_v not_o mercy_n in_o the_o matter_n or_o precise_o take_v as_o work_n do_v though_o none_o of_o they_o be_v mercy_n respect_v some_o person_n to_o who_o they_o be_v do_v for_o many_o of_o they_o be_v material_o chastisement_n affliction_n and_o cross_n to_o good_a man_n and_o all_o of_o they_o be_v wrath_n and_o judgement_n to_o evil_n and_o impenitent_o wicked_a man_n yet_o they_o be_v all_o mercy_n in_o the_o issue_n or_o result_v of_o they_o to_o good_a man_n or_o to_o those_o who_o fear_n god_n and_o keep_v his_o covenant_n for_o whether_o he_o do_v good_a or_o whether_o he_o do_v evil_a whether_o he_o wound_v or_o whether_o he_o heal_v all_o these_o providential_a way_n of_o god_n be_v as_o truth_n in_o themselves_o so_o mercy_n to_o his_o people_n or_o as_o the_o apostle_n conclude_v rom._n 8.28_o they_o work_v together_o for_o good_a to_o they_o that_o love_n god_n and_o be_v the_o call_v according_a to_o his_o purpose_n in_o both_o these_o sense_n we_o may_v expound_v this_o text_n they_o will_v not_o consider_v any_o of_o his_o way_n that_o be_v they_o will_v neither_o consider_v the_o law_n of_o god_n which_o be_v the_o way_n wherein_o they_o shall_v walk_v towards_o he_o nor_o will_v they_o consider_v the_o work_n of_o god_n which_o be_v the_o way_n wherein_o himself_o walk_v towards_o they_o this_o be_v the_o spirit_n of_o that_o evil_a generation_n intend_v in_o this_o scripture_n they_o have_v not_o much_o understanding_n in_o and_o less_o consideration_n of_o the_o way_n of_o god_n hence_o first_o we_o may_v take_v notice_n elihu_n do_v not_o say_v they_o do_v not_o consider_v his_o way_n but_o they_o will_v not_o it_o be_v not_o so_o much_o a_o act_n of_o carelessness_n and_o negligence_n as_o of_o contempt_n and_o rebellious_a resolution_n hence_o observe_v evil_a man_n have_v no_o will_n to_o consider_v or_o understand_v the_o good_a way_n of_o god_n yea_o their_o will_n be_v against_o such_o a_o understanding_n a_o natural_a man_n like_v not_o to_o retain_v god_n in_o his_o knowledge_n rom._n 1.28_o now_o he_o that_o do_v not_o like_a to_o retain_v god_n in_o his_o knowledge_n or_o have_v rather_o think_v of_o any_o thing_n then_o of_o god_n he_o can_v never_o while_o such_o like_o to_o retain_v the_o way_n of_o god_n in_o his_o knowledge_n he_o that_o lay_v god_n out_o of_o his_o thought_n will_v much_o more_o lay_v the_o law_n of_o god_n out_o of_o his_o thought_n the_o natural_a man_n have_v not_o only_o a_o blindness_n in_o his_o mind_n which_o hinder_v he_o from_o discern_v the_o thing_n of_o god_n they_o be_v discernible_a only_o by_o a_o spiritual_a eye_n but_o he_o have_v a_o obstinacy_n in_o his_o will_n or_o he_o have_v not_o only_o a_o inability_n to_o know_v but_o a_o enmity_n against_o the_o knowledge_n of_o that_o which_o be_v spiritual_a he_o shut_v his_o eye_n and_o draw_v a_o curtain_n between_o himself_o and_o the_o light_n which_o be_v ready_a to_o dart_v in_o upon_o he_o away_o with_o this_o light_n say_v he_o thus_o he_o rebell_v against_o the_o light_n and_o as_o his_o understanding_n be_v dark_a so_o his_o affection_n be_v corrupt_a solomon_n give_v we_o all_o this_o in_o the_o expostulation_n of_o wisdom_n with_o wicked_a man_n prov._n 1.20_o 21_o 22._o wisdom_n cry_v etc._n etc._n how_o long_o you_o simple_a one_o will_v you_o love_v simplicity_n and_o the_o scorner_n delight_v in_o their_o scorn_v and_o fool_n hate_v knowledge_n that_o which_o a_o man_n hate_v he_o have_v no_o will_n no_o mind_n to_o know_v a_o impotency_n or_o inability_n unto_o god_n argue_v a_o very_a sad_a condition_n but_o a_o rebellion_n a_o frowardness_n a_o wilfulness_n against_o it_o demonstrate_v a_o condition_n much_o more_o sad_a not_o to_o know_v because_o we_o have_v no_o mean_n of_o knowledge_n will_v make_v we_o miserable_a enough_o but_o not_o to_o know_v because_o unwilling_a to_o receive_v or_o because_o wilful_o set_v against_o the_o mean_n of_o knowledge_n render_v any_o man_n condition_n most_o miserable_a such_o be_v these_o in_o the_o text_n they_o will_v not_o consider_v any_o of_o his_o way_n second_o elihu_n say_v not_o they_o do_v not_o know_v any_o of_o his_o way_n or_o they_o know_v not_o which_o way_n to_o go_v but_o they_o will_v not_o consider_v they_o there_o be_v no_o man_n but_o know_v some_o yea_o many_o of_o the_o way_n of_o god_n that_o be_v of_o those_o way_n wherein_o god_n will_v have_v he_o to_o walk_v these_o way_n of_o god_n be_v write_v in_o the_o heart_n by_o nature_n there_o be_v a_o impression_n of_o the_o will_n of_o god_n upon_o every_o soul_n though_o not_o such_o a_o impression_n or_o writing_n as_o grace_n make_v there_o that_o be_v another_o kind_a or_o manner_n of_o work_n for_o when_o once_o through_o grace_n the_o law_n of_o god_n be_v write_v in_o and_o impress_v upon_o the_o heart_n than_o the_o heart_n be_v suit_v to_o the_o law_n yea_o the_o heart_n be_v not_o only_o conform_v unto_o but_o transform_v into_o the_o law_n of_o god_n whereas_o by_o nature_n the_o law_n be_v write_v only_o so_o far_o as_o to_o give_v we_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o law_n and_o a_o conviction_n of_o that_o duty_n or_o conformity_n which_o we_o owe_v to_o it_o the_o man_n here_o intend_v by_o elihu_n know_v the_o law_n or_o way_n of_o god_n by_o the_o light_n of_o a_o natural_a conscience_n but_o not_o by_o the_o light_n of_o a_o renew_a conscience_n and_o therefore_o they_o will_v not_o consider_v any_o of_o his_o way_n
