interest_n or_o coldness_n but_o because_o i_o think_v it_o be_v a_o very_a great_a christian_a virtue_n and_o i_o believe_v if_o the_o reflector_n have_v something_o less_o of_o a_o persecute_v spirit_n and_o a_o little_a of_o moderation_n it_o will_v be_v never_o the_o worse_o and_o then_o i_o be_o apt_a to_o think_v he_o have_v spare_v these_o reflection_n he_o say_v he_o be_v as_o much_o by_o temper_n and_o by_o conscience_n against_o rail_a and_o rudeness_n as_o against_o fawn_v and_o flattery_n it_o be_v great_a pity_n that_o a_o good_a temper_n shall_v ever_o be_v spoil_v by_o bad_a custom_n or_o that_o passion_n or_o heat_n shall_v ever_o over-rule_v such_o a_o principle_n as_o conscience_n but_o yet_o so_o we_o see_v it_o come_v to_o pass_v sometime_o he_o will_v have_v all_o justice_n and_o charity_n he_o say_v show_v to_o the_o dead_a of_o all_o persuasion_n and_o i_o perceive_v he_o be_v willing_a enough_o that_o dissenter_n shall_v have_v as_o much_o respect_n show_v they_o that_o way_n as_o other_o man_n of_o the_o most_o desperate_a sect_n and_o faction_n as_o pharisee_n or_o as_o the_o most_o deplorable_a heretic_n in_o the_o christian_a church_n because_o there_o may_v be_v some_o laudable_a quality_n even_o in_o such_o man_n and_o they_o be_v not_o so_o lose_v to_o god_n and_o goodness_n but_o they_o say_v and_o do_v some_o thing_n that_o be_v praise_v worthy_a and_o of_o good_a report_n which_o be_v a_o very_a notable_a concession_n and_o which_o the_o dissenter_n no_o doubt_n will_v con_fw-mi he_o much_o thanks_o for_o that_o they_o may_v be_v treat_v at_o least_o as_o well_o as_o turk_n infidel_n pharisee_n and_o heretic_n he_o be_v not_o angry_a he_o say_v that_o this_o grave_a ancient_a man_n be_v public_o treat_v with_o so_o much_o respect_n and_o honour_n and_o how_o come_v it_o to_o pass_v then_o that_o he_o be_v so_o angry_a with_o i_o for_o treat_v he_o with_o this_o respect_n and_o honour_n which_o i_o have_v do_v especial_o when_o he_o grant_v that_o funeral_n sermon_n shall_v be_v interpret_v with_o candour_n and_o concession_n but_o it_o raise_v his_o indignation_n he_o say_v to_o hear_v such_o a_o harangue_n upon_o a_o profess_a maintainer_n of_o division_n and_o schism_n what_o that_o harangue_n be_v be_v to_o be_v see_v in_o the_o sermon_n towards_o the_o latter_a end_n which_o be_v there_o without_o the_o least_o omission_n or_o alteration_n of_o any_o one_o word_n that_o i_o know_v of_o which_o if_o he_o have_v consider_v better_a and_o have_v not_o do_v in_o haste_n what_o he_o do_v he_o for_o it_o but_o for_o those_o stroke_n of_o his_o life_n and_o conversation_n which_o he_o say_v some_o people_n have_v object_v as_o blot_n and_o blemish_n to_o he_o and_o which_o i_o shall_v have_v make_v a_o ingenious_a apology_n for_o i_o know_v none_o there_o that_o have_v make_v such_o objection_n or_o that_o expect_v such_o apology_n and_o i_o do_v not_o in_o the_o least_o design_n then_o that_o my_o sermon_n shall_v have_v go_v far_o the_o reflector_n now_o be_v well_o acquaint_v with_o panegyric_n have_v show_v i_o what_o he_o think_v i_o may_v have_v say_v both_o way_n but_o have_v insert_v or_o add_v withal_o very_a slight_n and_o undervalue_v reflection_n which_o i_o who_o have_v less_o skill_n that_o way_n can_v but_o think_v he_o ought_v to_o have_v let_v alone_o and_o no_o doubt_n he_o have_v do_v so_o if_o he_o have_v design_v his_o remark_n in_o real_a kindness_n to_o his_o memory_n but_o i_o for_o my_o part_n do_v not_o think_v i_o have_v need_v to_o express_v in_o few_o word_n what_o i_o know_v in_o the_o time_n of_o my_o acquaintance_n with_o he_o and_o to_o omit_v all_o other_o thing_n which_o do_v not_o concern_v i_o for_o it_o be_v not_o my_o business_n to_o give_v a_o history_n of_o his_o life_n nor_o indeed_o can_v i_o do_v it_o be_v but_o little_o acquaint_v with_o it_o but_o only_o in_o short_a to_o express_v his_o character_n as_o far_o as_o i_o know_v and_o if_o i_o do_v deliver_v this_o with_o as_o much_o noise_n and_o assurance_n as_o lung_n and_o liberty_n can_v take_v which_o he_o be_v a_o auditor_n say_v i_o do_v i_o to_o gratify_v a_o humour_n to_o serve_v a_o interest_n or_o to_o keep_v up_o a_o balance_n make_v it_o their_o business_n to_o foment_n discord_n and_o to_o keep_v division_n afoot_n i_o will_v be_v bold_a to_o say_v they_o know_v not_o what_o manner_n of_o spirit_n they_o be_v of_o they_o seek_v not_o christ_n but_o themselves_o their_o god_n be_v their_o belly_n and_o their_o glory_n be_v in_o their_o shame_n and_o let_v they_o be_v dissenter_n or_o churchman_n or_o of_o what_o denomination_n they_o will_v they_o be_v not_o true_a christian_n this_o wisdom_n descend_v not_o from_o above_o but_o be_v earthly_a sensual_a devilish_a for_o where_o envy_v and_o strife_n be_v there_o be_v confusion_n and_o every_o evil_a work_n but_o the_o wisdom_n that_o be_v from_o above_o be_v first_o pure_a then_o peaceable_a gentle_a and_o easy_a to_o be_v entreat_v full_a of_o mercy_n and_o good_a fruit_n without_o partiality_n and_o without_o hypocrisy_n and_o the_o fruit_n of_o righteousness_n be_v sow_o in_o peace_n of_o they_o that_o make_v peace_n jam._n 3.15_o this_o peace_n i_o be_o for_o i_o love_v neither_o faction_n nor_o fury_n obstinacy_n nor_o revenge_n but_o can_v be_v glad_a to_o do_v any_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n to_o convince_v heal_v or_o reconcile_v and_o so_o i_o hope_v will_v many_o other_o but_o i_o can_v see_v but_o little_a success_n of_o attempt_n that_o be_v almost_o tire_v out_o with_o vain_a expectation_n in_o this_o matter_n but_o if_o i_o can_v do_v no_o good_a towards_o a_o composure_n or_o accommodation_n of_o these_o our_o uncharitable_a and_o unchristian_a difference_n i_o be_o resolve_v however_o i_o will_v not_o irritate_fw-la or_o inflame_v what_o i_o will_v be_v glad_a to_o heal_v as_o i_o dare_v say_v i_o shall_v have_v do_v if_o i_o have_v take_v this_o reflector_n measure_n but_o now_o we_o be_v upon_o it_o let_v we_o consider_v what_o method_n he_o will_v have_v have_v i_o use_v to_o bring_v those_o people_n to_o church_n more_o frequent_o at_o other_o time_n first_o he_o say_v i_o shall_v have_v take_v the_o opportunity_n to_o commemorate_v the_o great_a charity_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n which_o like_o a_o natural_a and_o indulgent_a mother_n have_v always_o open_a arm_n to_o receive_v even_o her_o froward_a and_o rebellious_a son_n and_o allow_v her_o office_n of_o christian_a burial_n to_o those_o who_o despise_v she_o other_o ordinance_n that_o she_o patient_o wait_v their_o submission_n while_o they_o live_v and_o afford_v they_o the_o last_o office_n of_o piety_n when_o they_o come_v to_o die_v which_o sure_o may_v win_v upon_o all_o ingenious_a spirit_n to_o oblige_v she_o with_o conformity_n and_o obedience_n in_o all_o reasonable_a service_n but_o i_o be_o apt_a to_o be_v of_o opinion_n after_o all_o that_o they_o will_v hardly_o have_v think_v this_o argument_n to_o have_v any_o great_a weight_n in_o it_o charity_n be_v a_o very_a good_a and_o oblige_a thing_n but_o unless_o they_o can_v have_v satisfaction_n give_v they_o about_o the_o reasonableness_n and_o unexceptionableness_n of_o the_o service_n itself_o which_o they_o dissent_n from_o which_o this_o reflector_n do_v not_o proceed_v to_o nor_o do_v advise_v i_o to_o it_o though_o that_o be_v the_o chief_a thing_n and_o will_v have_v be_v most_o to_o the_o purpose_n i_o doubt_v the_o church_n charity_n alone_o in_o the_o respect_n which_o he_o mention_n will_v hardly_o bring_v they_o to_o conformity_n and_o obedience_n to_o it_o but_o to_o give_v he_o his_o due_n he_o do_v not_o insist_v upon_o this_o as_o the_o chief_a thing_n be_v apprehensive_a it_o be_v likely_a of_o the_o weakness_n of_o it_o take_v by_o itself_o it_o be_v something_o else_o he_o have_v principal_o in_o his_o thought_n as_o appear_v by_o his_o long_a harangue_n about_o it_o which_o i_o can_v but_o wonder_v at_o viz._n that_o it_o be_v a_o holy_a place_n where_o they_o be_v now_o assemble_v and_o where_o their_o belove_a teacher_n choose_v to_o lie_v at_o rest_n which_o he_o have_v hint_v before_o and_o that_o i_o may_v have_v infer_v that_o they_o do_v not_o die_v so_o much_o out_o of_o charity_n with_o the_o church_n as_o be_v common_o impute_v to_o they_o for_o they_o like_v well_o enough_o to_o be_v bury_v there_o in_o the_o church_n ground_n and_o when_o they_o come_v to_o depart_v out_o of_o this_o world_n they_o leave_v their_o body_n as_o a_o legacy_n to_o it_o and_o to_o leave_v a_o legacy_n to_o one_o be_v just_o think_v a_o sign_n and_o seal_n of_o reconciliation_n and_o perfect_a love_n i_o never_o hear_v indeed_o that_o they_o be_v much_o out_o of_o conceit_n with_o the_o earth_n of_o the_o church-floor_n and_o if_o that_o be_v a_o sign_n of_o their_o reconciliation_n to_o the_o church_n i_o find_v they_o be_v content_v to_o give_v a_o testimony_n of_o it_o at_o any_o time_n when_o there_o be_v the_o like_a occasion_n and_o though_o these_o brethren_n choose_v to_o serve_v god_n in_o a_o common_a and_o unhallowed_a barn_n rather_o than_o in_o a_o place_n solemn_o devote_v to_o be_v god_n house_n of_o prayer_n yet_o on_o deathbed_n thought_n they_o can_v will_v their_o body_n to_o be_v commit_v to_o the_o threshing-floor_n but_o make_v it_o their_o last_o option_n to_o be_v bury_v with_o their_o forefather_n as_o it_o be_v natural_a or_o customary_a for_o all_o to_o desire_v and_o let_v their_o sepulcher_n at_o least_o be_v on_o the_o good_a old_a consecrate_a ground_n though_o i_o dare_v say_v they_o never_o think_v of_o the_o consecration_n when_o they_o do_v so_o and_o who_o know_v but_o the_o better_a sort_n of_o dissenter_n may_v have_v such_o scruple_n on_o they_o as_o these_o that_o if_o they_o shall_v be_v too_o soon_o admit_v into_o the_o bosom_n of_o the_o church_n they_o can_v by_o no_o mean_n live_v up_o to_o the_o rule_n and_o order_n of_o it_o whereas_o delay_v their_o admission_n to_o the_o last_o when_o their_o body_n be_v bring_v to_o church_n they_o may_v possible_o suppose_v that_o such_o a_o final_a action_n may_v determine_v their_o salvation_n and_o to_o be_v bury_v in_o the_o church_n be_v a_o sufficient_a atonement_n for_o their_o long_a absence_n from_o it_o and_o then_o upon_o this_o he_o say_v i_o may_v have_v take_v occasion_n to_o persuade_v the_o brethren_n there_o present_a that_o they_o will_v be_v as_o well_o affect_v in_o their_o life_n and_o health_n as_o they_o general_o come_v to_o be_v in_o their_o last_o sickness_n and_o point_n of_o death_n that_o be_v to_o bring_v their_o body_n to_o the_o chuich_n whilst_o their_o soul_n be_v yet_o in_o they_o which_o will_v be_v a_o more_o acceptable_a sacrifice_n than_o the_o bare_a carcase_n and_o refuse_v of_o mortality_n and_o why_o shall_v they_o desire_v to_o be_v inter_v within_o the_o precinct_n of_o the_o church_n unless_o they_o think_v it_o their_o own_o last_o home_n and_o proper_a place_n will_v any_o of_o we_o request_n that_o our_o dead_a body_n shall_v be_v carry_v into_o a_o enemy_n country_n rather_o than_o be_v lay_v up_o in_o our_o native_a land_n it_o must_v argue_v some_o good_a
