to_o this_o language_n now_o zacharias_n signify_v that_o christ_n be_v our_o head_n yea_o our_o god_n who_o kingdom_n be_v his_o horn_n he_o add_v the_o horn_n of_o salvation_n or_o blessedness_n up_o what_o difference_n there_o be_v between_o other_o kingdom_n &_o the_o kingdom_n of_o salvation_n which_o god_n have_v raise_v up_o some_o kingdom_n be_v famous_a in_o name_n and_o power_n other_o be_v large_a abound_v with_o plenty_n of_o great_a treasure_n much_o people_n honour_n and_o all_o temporal_a thing_n but_o this_o be_v call_v a_o kingdom_n of_o salvation_n grace_n life_n righteousness_n truth_n and_o of_o every_o thing_n that_o pertain_v to_o salvation_n whereby_o it_o differ_v from_o all_o other_o kingdom_n for_o albeit_o they_o be_v large_a scotfree_a or_o mighty_a yet_o be_v they_o count_v the_o kingdom_n of_o death_n for_o they_o that_o govern_v they_o must_v at_o the_o last_o fall_n die_v perish_v and_o leave_v their_o power_n and_o riches_n behind_o they_o neither_o be_v there_o ever_o any_o worldly_a kingdom_n which_o may_v be_v call_v a_o kingdom_n of_o life_n wherein_o be_v life_n peace_n and_o salvation_n for_o only_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n do_v glory_n and_o triumph_v in_o this_o title_n inasmuch_o as_o god_n have_v raise_v it_o uppe_o that_o there_o may_v be_v nothing_o in_o it_o but_o salvation_n and_o felicity_n moreover_o i_o find_v in_o it_o although_o he_o be_v inferior_a to_o john_n in_o holiness_n and_o far_o unlike_o christ_n in_o perfection_n yet_o he_o live_v in_o a_o kingdom_n wherein_o be_v nothing_o but_o salvation_n a_o kingdom_n of_o salvation_n now_o confer_v these_o two_o one_o with_o a_o other_o the_o house_n of_o david_n be_v the_o tribe_n and_o stock_n of_o david_n who_o be_v a_o man_n as_o the_o subject_n of_o his_o kingdom_n so_o that_o thou_o can_v not_o say_v that_o he_o do_v here_o make_v mention_n of_o a_o heavenly_a kingdom_n among_o the_o angel_n when_o as_o he_o do_v nothing_o less_o but_o he_o speak_v of_o a_o certain_a kingdom_n which_o be_v among_o man_n which_o live_v clothe_v with_o flesh_n david_n be_v a_o man_n the_o subject_n of_o his_o kingdom_n also_o be_v man_n subject_a to_o be_v eftsoon_o repeat_v satan_n a_o christian_a be_v deliver_v from_o death_n sin_n &_o satan_n we_o have_v affirm_v therefore_o that_o a_o christian_n which_o live_v in_o this_o kingdom_n shall_v never_o dye_v forasmuch_o as_o he_o can_v not_o dye_v for_o christ_n have_v therefore_o suffer_v death_n that_o he_o may_v overcome_v death_n and_o deliver_v we_o from_o it_o he_o take_v our_o sin_n god_n leave_v in_o we_o a_o appearance_n and_o feel_n of_o death_n and_o the_o devil_n so_o that_o my_o sin_n disquiet_v i_o and_o trouble_v my_o conscience_n and_o will_v drive_v i_o unto_o desperation_n moreover_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n terrifi_v i_o death_n assail_v i_o as_o if_o it_o will_v devour_v i_o satan_n be_v at_o hand_n and_o seek_v to_o suppress_v i_o god_n suffer_v consider_v this_o kingdom_n according_a to_o the_o judgement_n of_o the_o world_n thou_o shall_v utter_o err_v and_o be_v deceive_v the_o world_n call_v that_o a_o good_a &_o peaceable_a kingdom_n here_o sing_v even_o from_o the_o bottom_n of_o his_o hart_n and_o know_v well_o how_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v faith_n and_o the_o spirit_n reveal_v it_o concern_v sin_n i_o have_v see_v or_o know_v none_o in_o who_o it_o be_v not_o 7.18_o even_o the_o most_o holy_a be_v not_o free_a from_o sin_n rom._n 7.18_o whosoever_o thou_o set_v before_o thou_o sin_n will_v by_o and_o by_o appear_v paul_n thereof_o about_o with_o we_o so_o long_a sin_n be_v not_o extinguish_v nor_o can_v be_v whole_o subdue_v we_o may_v well_o go_v about_o and_o endeavour_n to_o subdue_v it_o notwithstanding_o old_a holiness_n do_v understand_v nothing_o hereof_o and_o therefore_o this_o gospel_n be_v not_o preach_v unto_o they_o see_v that_o they_o think_v the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n to_o be_v such_o that_o sinner_n who_o hate_v the_o feel_n of_o sin_n strive_v against_o it_o from_o his_o hart_n he_o be_v not_o a_o christian_n which_o think_v that_o he_o have_v no_o sin_n neither_o feel_v any_o but_o if_o thou_o know_v any_o such_o he_o be_v a_o antichristian_a and_o not_o a_o true_a christian_a the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n therefore_o consist_v among_o sin_n it_o be_v establish_v there_o where_o he_o lay_v we_o upon_o his_o shoulder_n carry_v and_o defend_v we_o so_o that_o we_o be_v safe_a from_o all_o peril_n of_o death_n and_o the_o devil_n which_o albeit_o they_o terrify_v we_o and_o devil_n rage_n he_o never_o so_o sore_o so_o we_o also_o if_o we_o stand_v and_o abide_v unmoveable_o in_o this_o article_n i_o believe_v in_o jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n who_o suffer_v die_v rise_v again_o for_o we_o etc._n etc._n there_o be_v no_o cause_n why_o we_o shall_v be_v careful_a lest_o we_o perish_v or_o be_v devour_v of_o the_o devil_n though_o he_o open_v his_o jaw_n never_o so_o wide_a for_o we_o be_v not_o then_o in_o our_o own_o way_n neither_o walk_v we_o upon_o our_o own_o foot_n but_o we_o hang_v upon_o the_o neck_n of_o our_o shepeheard_n and_o lie_v upon_o his_o shoulder_n where_o we_o be_v safe_a enough_o for_o sin_n death_n and_o hell_n although_o in_o deed_n they_o be_v terrible_a yet_o dare_v they_o not_o set_v upon_o he_o otherwise_o if_o it_o be_v not_o for_o this_o we_o shall_v be_v miserable_a sheep_n which_o shall_v forthwith_o be_v bring_v into_o a_o lamentable_a and_o wretched_a case_n for_o even_o as_o a_o sheep_n can_v not_o take_v heed_n and_o foresee_v to_o itself_o that_o it_o stray_v not_o out_o of_o the_o way_n unless_o it_o be_v lead_v of_o the_o shepeheard_n &_o when_o it_o have_v stray_v and_o be_v lose_v can_v not_o by_o itself_o come_v again_o to_o the_o shepeheard_n but_o must_v be_v seek_v and_o inquire_v for_o of_o he_o until_o he_o have_v find_v it_o and_o so_o must_v be_v lay_v upon_o his_o shoulder_n and_o bring_v home_o again_o lest_o that_o it_o be_v again_o fray_v and_o chase_v from_o he_o or_o catch_v of_o the_o wolf_n and_o rent_n in_o piece_n so_o we_o also_o ourselves_o can_v profit_v ourselves_o neither_o by_o help_n nor_o counsel_n that_o we_o may_v obtain_v peace_n and_o quietness_n of_o conscience_n and_o escape_v out_o of_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o devil_n death_n and_o hell_n except_o christ_n himself_o repeat_v his_o word_n unto_o we_o and_o call_v we_o again_o unto_o he_o and_o although_o we_o come_v unto_o he_o and_o now_o stand_v in_o faith_n yet_o be_v it_o not_o in_o our_o wherefore_o here_o be_v no_o place_n to_o boast_v of_o free_a will_n or_o of_o our_o own_o strength_n which_o be_v none_o neither_o in_o beginning_n any_o thing_n neither_o in_o go_v forward_o he_o love_v his_o neighbour_n also_o as_o himself_o in_o these_o the_o whole_a law_n and_o the_o prophet_n do_v consist_v now_o whatsoever_o christ_n do_v it_o consist_v in_o these_o two_o he_o love_v god_n inasmuch_o as_o he_o obey_v his_o will_n he_o take_v upon_o he_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n and_o perform_v in_o all_o obedience_n those_o thing_n that_o be_v enjoin_v he_o of_o the_o father_n that_o they_o which_o enjoy_v he_o receive_v not_o one_o gift_n alone_o as_o with_o solomon_n wisdom_n with_o samson_n strength_n with_o job_n patience_n with_o paul_n zeal_n &c_n &c_n but_o for_o poverty_n they_o receive_v riches_n for_o weakness_n strength_n for_o folly_n wisdom_n for_o servitude_n freedom_n for_o grief_n joy_n for_o sin_n righteousness_n for_o death_n life_n yea_o all_o good_a thing_n whatsoever_o wherefore_o if_o the_o faithful_a man_n be_v press_v with_o poverty_n he_o may_v here_o learn_v that_o by_o christ_n he_o be_v adopt_v to_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o so_o may_v be_v comfort_v say_v to_o himself_o how_o can_v he_o be_v poor_a which_o have_v god_n to_o his_o father_n who_o both_o be_v able_a to_o give_v all_o thing_n necessary_a for_o his_o be_v the_o earth_n and_o all_o that_o therein_o be_v and_o also_o will_v give_v the_o same_o because_o he_o be_v most_o love_a and_o gracious_a to_o his_o child_n again_o if_o he_o feel_v in_o himself_o weakness_n he_o may_v learn_v here_o that_o he_o be_v not_o able_a of_o himself_o to_o attain_v unto_o strength_n but_o that_o it_o be_v the_o gift_n of_o christ_n who_o strengthen_v such_o as_o believe_v in_o he_o &_o so_o may_v be_v stir_v up_o by_o hearty_a prayer_n to_o ask_v the_o same_o of_o he_o that_o he_o will_v vouchsafe_v by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n to_o strengthen_v and_o confirm_v he_o that_o he_o may_v be_v able_a to_o perform_v that_o by_o grace_n which_o by_o nature_n and_o of_o himself_o he_o shall_v never_o be_v able_a to_o do_v as_o mighty_o to_o subdue_v the_o rebellious_a flesh_n strong_o to_o resist_v and_o at_o the_o last_o valiant_o to_o overcome_v the_o tentation_n of_o satan_n patient_o to_o bear_v the_o trouble_n of_o the_o world_n and_o constant_o to_o contemn_v the_o allurement_n of_o the_o same_o moreover_o if_o he_o thirst_v after_o divine_a and_o heavenly_a wisdom_n which_o be_v to_o know_v god_n aright_o and_o those_o thing_n that_o be_v necessary_a to_o be_v know_v to_o the_o attain_n of_o salvation_n he_o may_v find_v here_o large_o and_o lively_o set_v forth_o that_o christ_n come_v his_o father_n ambassador_n and_o messenger_n to_o man_n that_o by_o he_o they_o may_v be_v bring_v to_o the_o right_a knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o into_o all_o truth_n so_o that_o by_o he_o we_o be_v enlighten_v with_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n by_o he_o we_o be_v instruct_v in_o all_o truth_n and_o consequent_o by_o he_o we_o obtain_v divine_a and_o heavenly_a wisdom_n here_o also_o shall_v he_o learn_v that_o christ_n be_v make_v under_o the_o law_n that_o he_o may_v redeem_v they_o which_o be_v in_o bondage_n under_o the_o law_n &_o of_o servile_a bondman_n make_v they_o free_a son_n even_o the_o child_n of_o god_n furthermore_o if_o grief_n and_o heaviness_n come_v upon_o he_o he_o be_v here_o teach_v where_o true_a joy_n may_v be_v have_v even_o in_o christ_n jesus_n alone_o that_o in_o he_o only_o he_o may_v find_v sure_a comfort_n sovereign_a medicine_n present_a remedy_n true_a joy_n of_o heart_n and_o quietness_n of_o conscience_n final_o whereas_o we_o be_v synnefull_a and_o have_v by_o our_o sin_n they_o shall_v go_v so_o far_o it_o be_v satan_n that_o deceive_v they_o notwithstanding_o they_o be_v sorry_a for_o their_o sin_n and_o do_v lament_v they_o yea_o it_o grieve_v they_o to_o the_o amaze_v neither_o dare_v he_o either_o say_v or_o confess_v any_o thing_n sufficient_o thereof_o wherefore_o we_o must_v endeavour_n that_o we_o do_v not_o hear_v this_o only_a with_o fleshly_a ear_n but_o that_o we_o feel_v it_o in_o our_o hart_n for_o than_o we_o will_v not_o be_v so_o rash_a but_o we_o shall_v be_v forthwith_o carry_v into_o a_o admiration_n thereof_o true_a and_o sincere_a merciful_a to_o all_o they_o which_o call_v upon_o he_o in_o this_o his_o son_n therefore_o the_o lord_n say_v moreover_o very_o very_o i_o say_v unto_o you_o he_z that_o believe_v in_o i_o have_v prophet_n be_v dead_a as_o the_o jew_n say_v unto_o he_o i_o answer_v the_o death_n of_o christian_n be_v only_o a_o sleep_n answer_n the_o answer_n as_o the_o scripture_n also_o common_o call_v it_o whereas_o he_o shall_v come_v to_o the_o holy_a man_n of_o old_a time_n he_o come_v even_o then_o forasmuch_o as_o by_o faith_n they_o feel_v he_o to_o be_v their_o true_a saviour_n and_o deliverer_n howbeit_o he_o be_v not_o yet_o come_v to_o our_o jew_n although_o he_o be_v go_v away_o again_o in_o body_n long_o since_o for_o they_o do_v not_o believe_v in_o he_o all_o from_o the_o begin_n of_o have_v a_o good_a trust_n in_o god_n than_o all_o our_o sin_n and_o tentation_n be_v able_a to_o put_v we_o out_o of_o hope_n and_o fray_v we_o from_o it_o it_o may_v be_v in_o deed_n that_o thou_o shall_v be_v so_o tempt_v that_o thou_o shall_v fear_v and_o doubt_n of_o thy_o adoption_n and_o think_v plain_o that_o god_n be_v not_o a_o favourable_a father_n but_o a_o wrathful_a revenger_n of_o sinner_n as_o it_o fall_v out_o with_o job_n and_o many_o other_o saint_n but_o in_o such_o a_o conflict_n this_o trust_n &_o confidence_n that_o thou_o be_v a_o son_n ought_v to_o prevail_v and_o overcome_v or_o else_o thou_o shall_v come_v into_o a_o miserable_a and_o desperate_a case_n when_o one_o of_o cain_n brood_n hear_v these_o thing_n he_o be_v as_o it_o be_v beside_o himself_o by_o reason_n of_o admiration_n and_o astonishment_n fie_o say_v he_o away_o with_o this_o arrogancy_n and_o this_o most_o pernicious_a error_n god_n turn_v this_o mind_n from_o i_o that_o i_o do_v not_o presume_v to_o think_v that_o i_o be_o the_o son_n of_o god_n i_o be_o a_o sinner_n most_o miserable_a and_o wretched_a and_o i_o will_v never_o esteem_v more_o of_o myself_o but_o thou_o which_o on_o my_o shoulder_n to_o the_o father_n no_o other_o way_n beside_o this_o lead_v unto_o heaven_n he_o that_o walk_v not_o this_o way_n go_v out_o of_o the_o way_n from_o the_o father_n i_o also_o be_o the_o truth_n for_o i_o be_o the_o light_n which_o lighten_v the_o world_n and_o i_o teach_v true_a doctrine_n and_o make_v true_a christian_n moreover_o i_o also_o be_o the_o life_n for_o it_o be_v i_o that_o quicken_v he_o that_o believe_v in_o i_o shall_v not_o dye_v this_o as_o i_o say_v before_o be_v to_o teach_v the_o gospel_n right_o that_o be_v to_o show_v the_o true_a and_o right_a way_n which_o lead_v unto_o eternal_a life_n when_o the_o disciple_n know_v not_o the_o way_n that_o lead_v unto_o glory_n the_o lord_n make_v no_o delay_n affirm_v unto_o they_o that_o he_o be_v that_o way_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v if_o you_o desire_v to_o know_v the_o way_n to_o glory_n seek_v not_o the_o strength_n light_n and_o righteousness_n of_o creature_n but_o look_v unto_o i_o for_o i_o be_o the_o way_n the_o truth_n and_o the_o life_n although_o i_o must_v be_v put_v to_o death_n although_o i_o be_o vile_a and_o of_o no_o reputation_n according_a to_o the_o outward_a appearance_n neither_o let_v this_o offend_v you_o that_o they_o which_o be_v i_o be_v subject_a to_o persecution_n the_o right_a way_n to_o the_o father_n be_v find_v in_o i_o let_v none_o remove_v you_o from_o this_o persuasion_n therefore_o he_o say_v moreover_o no_o man_n come_v unto_o the_o father_n but_o by_o i_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v no_o man_n can_v come_v to_o the_o father_n by_o his_o own_o strength_n or_o merit_n the_o law_n terrifi_v the_o conscience_n that_o it_o can_v not_o go_v to_o the_o father_n the_o word_n of_o christ_n which_o justifi_v we_o by_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n bring_v we_o to_o the_o father_n whereupon_o follow_v that_o which_o he_o afterward_o say_v if_o you_o have_v know_v i_o you_o shall_v have_v know_v my_o father_n also_o for_o as_o no_o man_n come_v to_o the_o father_n but_o by_o the_o son_n so_o no_o man_n know_v the_o father_n but_o by_o christ_n the_o son_n first_o the_o father_n will_n be_v not_o know_v to_o wit_n that_o he_o will_v save_v we_o unless_o we_o see_v it_o in_o christ_n he_z which_o be_v in_o the_o bosom_n of_o the_o father_n have_v reveal_v it_o unto_o us._n second_o the_o father_n be_v not_o believe_v for_o reason_n by_o itself_o do_v not_o understand_v that_o it_o receive_v any_o thing_n of_o god_n wherefore_o it_o be_v needful_a that_o christ_n declare_v that_o bountifulness_n and_o goodness_n unto_o us._n a_o trouble_a conscience_n fly_v the_o father_n neither_o can_v it_o abide_v to_o commit_v itself_o unto_o he_o but_o they_o that_o be_v justify_v by_o the_o word_n of_o christ_n do_v not_o any_o more_o contemn_v the_o father_n neither_o fly_v he_o as_o the_o israelite_n do_v but_o stand_v before_o he_o as_o moses_n and_o be_v enlighten_v with_o divine_a light_n that_o they_o may_v know_v the_o power_n of_o god_n and_o mercy_n of_o the_o father_n hereupon_o come_v trust_n and_o confidence_n in_o he_o hereby_o we_o know_v that_o we_o receive_v all_o thing_n at_o his_o hand_n and_o look_v for_o all_o as_o well_o spiritual_a as_o corporal_a thing_n of_o he_o all_o these_o we_o must_v acknowledge_v to_o be_v receive_v by_o faith_n reason_n can_v not_o attain_v unto_o they_o for_o it_o endevour_v to_o obtain_v god_n by_o she_o own_o strength_n and_o merit_n but_o that_o endeavour_n be_v in_o vain_a wherefore_o when_o it_o be_v not_o able_a to_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n by_o she_o own_o strength_n it_o utter_o deni_v god_n and_o say_v that_o there_o be_v no_o god_n after_o when_o it_o see_v uncleanness_n in_o her_o work_n it_o despeir_v and_o be_v in_o most_o great_a distress_n but_o when_o we_o be_v justify_v by_o foolish_a preach_n we_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n the_o father_n as_o soon_o as_o we_o believe_v the_o word_n of_o christ_n and_o so_o we_o try_v the_o power_n of_o the_o father_n in_o affliction_n and_o adversity_n although_o they_o be_v even_o great_a this_o be_v shadow_v forth_o in_o that_o that_o the_o people_n of_o israel_n can_v not_o abide_v to_o hear_v the_o voice_n of_o god_n but_o desire_v that_o moses_n may_v speak_v unto_o they_o where_o christ_n also_o be_v figure_v that_o he_o shall_v make_v intercession_n for_o we_o to_o the_o father_n and_o be_v our_o mercy_n seat_n for_o nature_n be_v more_o weak_a &_o frail_a then_o that_o it_o can_v abide_v to_o talk_v with_o god_n wherefore_o he_o have_v give_v unto_o we_o this_o his_o son_n a_o mediator_n in_o who_o and_o by_o who_o we_o must_v have_v to_o do_v with_o he_o when_o as_o the_o lord_n so_o love_o and_o gentle_o deal_v with_o thomas_n and_z sheweth_z unto_o he_o how_o he_o must_v come_v to_o the_o father_n to_o wit_n by_o the_o son_n and_o that_o the_o
