have_v they_o not_o lose_v the_o holy_a pure_a sweet_a meek_a heavenly_a tender_a gentle_a nature_n of_o the_o sheep_n have_v they_o not_o lose_v the_o pasture_n and_o the_o fold_n whereon_o they_o be_v wont_a to_o feed_v and_o wherein_o they_o be_v wont_a to_o lie_v down_o safe_a have_v they_o not_o lose_v the_o preserver_n of_o their_o soul_n from_o the_o devour_a spirit_n nay_o have_v

who_o by_o the_o allure_n and_o guiding_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v lead_v thither_o now_o the_o main_a thing_n necessary_a towards_o the_o redemption_n of_o the_o soul_n be_v after_o the_o reveal_n of_o this_o principle_n and_o some_o sense_n and_o feel_n of_o it_o and_o the_o turn_n of_o the_o mind_n towards_o it_o to_o wait_v to_o be_v make_v more_o and_o more_o acquaint_v with_o it_o that_o in_o the_o stir_n move_n and_o leading_n thereof_o there_o be_v a_o ready_a give_v up_o to_o be_v gather_v into_o it_o and_o to_o be_v guide_v by_o it_o for_o though_o this_o principle_n be_v all_o life_n yet_o it_o be_v at_o first_o but_o as_o a_o seed_n and_o the_o appearance_n of_o the_o lord_n in_o it_o be_v but_o as_o in_o a_o seed_n very_o little_a low_a weak_a hard_o to_o be_v discern_v easy_a to_o be_v over-looked_n and_o despise_v and_o some_o great_a and_o more_o undeniable_a appearance_n expect_v yet_o that_o be_v not_o the_o way_n but_o the_o soul_n must_v become_v subject_a unto_o and_o â—owed_v under_o this_o little_a appearance_n and_o so_o as_o the_o seed_n get_v advantage_n and_o grow_v big_a and_o large_a in_o thy_o heart_n the_o appearance_n of_o the_o lord_n will_v be_v great_a and_o full_a there_o but_o to_o look_v for_o the_o great_a appearance_n before_o the_o seed_n be_v own_v and_o receive_v in_o its_o lesser_a appearance_n and_o the_o vessel_n thereby_o fit_v for_o the_o great_a appearance_n be_v not_o the_o way_n of_o god_n but_o the_o deceit_n of_o the_o enemy_n whereby_o he_o will_v destroy_v the_o soul_n and_o cut_v it_o off_o from_o the_o lord_n for_o ever_o which_o he_o certain_o will_v do_v if_o he_o can_v keep_v the_o seed_n from_o grow_v there_o and_o the_o soul_n from_o join_v with_o arise_v in_o the_o savour_n and_o in_o the_o drawing_n be_v thy_o king_n though_o in_o this_o low_a appearance_n and_o not_o to_o be_v judge_v by_o thy_o mind_n thought_n and_o reason_n but_o to_o at_o present_a seem_v to_o give_v death_n the_o advantage_n therefore_o watch_v against_o thy_o understanding_n and_o all_o the_o work_n thereof_o as_o ever_o thou_o desire_v life_n for_o it_o will_v still_o betray_v thou_o and_o either_o keep_v thou_o from_o the_o way_n or_o turn_v thou_o out_o of_o the_o way_n when_o ever_o thou_o hearkene_a to_o it_o and_o mark_v this_o that_o which_o god_n sow_n and_o bring_v up_o in_o thou_o be_v a_o sensible_a plant_n not_o a_o know_a mind_n and_o thy_o right_a judgement_n be_v only_o in_o the_o sensibleness_n of_o that_o plant_n and_o not_o in_o the_o understanding_n or_o comprehension_n of_o thy_o mind_n yea_o that_o sensible_a plant_n which_o thy_o wisdom_n will_v be_v very_o apt_a to_o despise_v and_o perk_v over_o must_v batter_v down_o and_o bring_v to_o nothing_o thy_o understanding_n and_o grow_v up_o in_o the_o stead_n of_o it_o if_o ever_o thy_o soul_n be_v make_v a_o habitation_n for_o the_o life_n therefore_o sink_v into_o the_o feel_n and_o dwell_v in_o the_o feel_n and_o wait_v for_o the_o savour_n of_o the_o principle_n of_o life_n and_o the_o touch_n and_o drawing_n of_o the_o savour_n and_o walk_v along_o in_o it_o towards_o the_o land_n of_o life_n part_v with_o all_o and_o leave_v behind_o thou_o whatever_o the_o savoury_a of_o life_n disrelish_v and_o enter_v into_o and_o take_v up_o whatever_o the_o savour_n of_o the_o life_n relish_v that_o thou_o may_v be_v prepare_v for_o the_o lord_n and_o for_o the_o glorious_a appearance_n of_o his_o spirit_n in_o thou_o and_o as_o thou_o be_v lead_v into_o this_o and_o become_v subject_n to_o this_o so_o thou_o will_v taste_v the_o lord_n and_o feel_v the_o sweetness_n of_o his_o ointment_n and_o the_o peace_n of_o his_o nature_n and_o the_o joy_n of_o the_o beginning_n of_o his_o kingdom_n in_o thy_o heart_n and_o the_o blot_n out_o of_o thy_o iniquity_n for_o his_o own_o name_n sake_n for_o though_o the_o enemy_n may_v lay_v load_n upon_o thou_o and_o fill_v thou_o as_o much_o as_o he_o can_v with_o his_o filth_n and_o lay_v it_o close_o to_o thy_o charge_n insomuch_o as_o thou_o be_v not_o able_a to_o acquit_v thyself_o at_o all_o but_o be_v as_o ready_a to_o charge_v thyself_o therewith_o as_o the_o enemy_n be_v to_o charge_v thou_o yet_o the_o lord_n consider_v the_o seed_n he_o have_v sow_v in_o thou_o and_o the_o desire_n which_o he_o and_o shine_v inward_o to_o thy_o spirit_n in_o the_o draw_n and_o be_v subject_a and_o bow_v under_o the_o light_n of_o the_o draw_v though_o never_o so_o much_o against_o the_o light_n of_o the_o creature_o
understanding_n and_o the_o reason_n thereof_o clearness_n of_o light_n be_v a_o state_n which_o be_v to_o be_v grow_v up_o into_o but_o before_o thou_o come_v to_o this_o thy_o understanding_n must_v be_v darken_v confound_v and_o bring_v to_o nothing_o and_o thou_o can_v not_o have_v such_o a_o clearness_n there_o while_o it_o be_v confound_v there_o be_v indeed_o a_o true_a clearness_n in_o the_o principle_n of_o life_n proportionable_a to_o its_o state_n and_o growth_n even_o then_o but_o the_o reason_n of_o thy_o dark_a mâ—nde_n will_v be_v continual_o overcloud_v and_o overbear_v it_o as_o if_o it_o be_v darkness_n and_o not_o the_o light_n &_o will_v prevail_v unless_o thou_o be_v keep_v in_o the_o savour_n and_o suffer_v not_o thy_o understanding_n to_o judge_v but_o keep_v it_o under_o the_o judgement_n of_o the_o savour_n mark_v therefore_o heedful_o this_o which_o follow_v the_o first_o work_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v to_o confound_v the_o knowledge_n and_o understanding_n of_o the_o creature_n especial_o in_o those_o who_o have_v be_v deep_a in_o wisdom_n and_o experience_n of_o thing_n for_o if_o they_o be_v not_o close_o pursue_v with_o darkness_n and_o confusion_n they_o will_v present_o be_v gather_v a_o stock_n into_o the_o old_a store-house_n again_o and_o so_o grow_v wise_a after_o the_o flesh_n and_o never_o learn_v the_o life_n of_o the_o spirit_n now_o manifest_a after_o this_o manner_n how_o be_v it_o possible_a to_o withhold_v the_o fleshly_a part_n from_o drink_v they_o in_o and_o so_o the_o man_n will_v live_v again_o but_o the_o seed_n not_o live_v which_o gain_v its_o life_n and_o be_v and_o form_n and_o perfection_n in_o the_o man_n by_o the_o death_n of_o the_o man_n even_o by_o the_o man_n be_v hunt_v and_o batter_v and_o break_v out_o of_o his_o wisdom_n and_o knowledge_n and_o reason_v and_o comprehension_n and_o become_v as_o a_o fool_n or_o child_n be_v able_a to_o know_v nothing_o nor_o retain_v nothing_o nor_o perform_v nothing_o nor_o keep_v his_o stand_n but_o still_o as_o he_o be_v lead_v and_o teach_v and_o create_v and_o preserve_v in_o the_o power_n and_o by_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o life_n concern_v the_o thorough_o feel_v and_o many_o transgression_n and_o many_o stripe_n yea_o many_o captivity_n and_o cut_n off_o from_o the_o life_n may_v be_v feel_v also_o yea_o the_o seed_n of_o the_o first_o covenant_n may_v live_v and_o flourish_v and_o enjoy_v and_o boast_v much_o of_o god_n while_o this_o seed_n be_v miserable_a but_o when_o this_o womb_n be_v visit_v with_o the_o strength_n of_o grace_n and_o free_a power_n of_o life_n and_o bring_v forth_o her_o child_n therein_o and_o no_o more_o be_v call_v for_o from_o the_o work_a part_n of_o man_n but_o all_o bring_v forth_o in_o the_o free_a full_a and_o fresh_a power_n or_o life_n then_o shall_v the_o seed_n of_o israel_n after_o the_o promise_n become_v a_o everlasting_a habitation_n for_o and_o a_o perfect_a joy_n in_o the_o life_n therefore_o distinguish_v in_o spirit_n between_o the_o law_n and_o grace_n and_o the_o covenant_n of_o each_o and_o the_o dispensation_n of_o each_o and_o how_o they_o be_v mix_v and_o intermingle_v both_o towards_o man_n and_o towards_o the_o seed_n in_o the_o several_a dispensation_n in_o which_o each_o be_v bring_v forth_o for_o there_o have_v be_v no_o perfect_a covenant_n bring_v forth_o either_o of_o work_n or_o of_o grace_n in_o a_o way_n of_o public_a administration_n since_o the_o fall_n of_o adam_n have_v there_o be_v a_o perfect_a covenant_n of_o work_n there_o the_o seed_n according_a to_o the_o state_n of_o the_o man_n and_o the_o state_n of_o the_o seed_n and_o according_a to_o what_o in_o his_o eternal_a wisdom_n he_o judge_v meet_v to_o work_v upon_o utter_o cut_v off_o so_o far_o and_o so_o long_o as_o the_o lord_n please_v to_o let_v the_o curse_n of_o that_o covenant_n have_v power_n over_o they_o until_o he_o shall_v please_v again_o to_o remember_v to_o they_o his_o covenant_n with_o abraham_n isaac_n and_o jacob_n and_o breath_n life_n through_o it_o into_o their_o dry_a bone_n now_o though_o god_n do_v make_v this_o covenant_n with_o they_o because_o they_o be_v fleshly_a and_o their_o present_a state_n require_v it_o yet_o he_o do_v not_o disannul_v or_o make_v void_a the_o other_o to_o they_o all_o the_o while_o their_o day_n last_v but_o remember_v lovingkindness_n and_o mercy_n towards_o they_o in_o it_o often_o deliver_v and_o redeem_v they_o for_o his_o own_o name_n sake_n point_v they_o also_o to_o the_o word_n in_o the_o heart_n and_o the_o gracious_a administration_n thereof_o but_o they_o be_v blind_v and_o hold_v captive_a in_o the_o earthly_a nature_n and_o principle_n and_o in_o the_o law_n thereof_o and_o hold_v their_o marriage_n and_o union_n with_o god_n thereby_o and_o so_o though_o this_o administration_n to_o the_o jew_n wherein_o god_n do_v strive_v with_o they_o by_o his_o spirit_n and_o sometime_o stir_v life_n and_o beget_v a_o true_a sensibleness_n in_o many_o of_o they_o call_v to_o they_o for_o the_o circumcision_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o point_v they_o to_o the_o principle_n the_o olive_n tree_n into_o which_o they_o be_v engraft_v and_o cut_v they_o off_o from_o the_o covenant_n which_o he_o have_v make_v with_o abraham_n isaac_n and_o jacob_n whereas_o hitherto_o though_o he_o have_v be_v often_o provoke_v by_o and_o sore_o offend_v with_o they_o yet_o he_o have_v still_o love_v they_o for_o the_o father_n sake_n after_o they_o and_o in_o their_o stead_n he_o travel_v even_o until_o the_o man_n or_o first_o nature_n be_v whole_o waste_v whereby_o some_o of_o they_o be_v in_o danger_n of_o fall_v away_o whole_o other_o of_o come_n under_o chastisement_n and_o judgement_n with_o which_o the_o lord_n pursue_v they_o that_o they_o may_v not_o be_v utter_o condemn_v with_o the_o world_n mark_v therefore_o this_o brief_a sum_n of_o the_o matter_n 1._o man_n fall_v under_o the_o first_o covenant_n his_o restitution_n be_v never_o to_o be_v thereby_o but_o by_o the_o second_o through_o which_o god_n work_v up_o vessel_n into_o a_o state_n of_o life_n to_o the_o capacity_n that_o be_v leave_v in_o man_n to_o answer_v it_o and_o so_o as_o that_o capacity_n wear_v out_o the_o covenant_n of_o the_o law_n waste_v and_o pass_v away_o by_o degree_n and_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n succeed_v and_o fill_v up_o the_o room_n thereof_o 3._o there_o be_v great_a danger_n of_o fall_v from_o the_o life_n for_o some_o as_o also_o of_o chastizement_n and_o judgement_n to_o other_o while_o this_o capacity_n remain_v even_o while_o the_o earthly_a nature_n spirit_n and_o principle_n be_v not_o wear_v out_o by_o the_o entrance_n death_n and_o resurrection_n of_o the_o principle_n of_o life_n in_o the_o heart_n 4._o when_o the_o first_o principle_n be_v whole_o dead_a and_o the_o heart_n perfect_o form_v in_o the_o life_n and_o all_o perfect_o raise_v and_o renew_v in_o the_o life_n then_o there_o be_v no_o danger_n of_o fall_v or_o fear_n of_o chastisement_n but_o perfect_a life_n and_o peace_n and_o joy_n with_o god_n in_o his_o spirit_n of_o power_n and_o glory_n for_o ever_o more_o 5._o though_o god_n begin_v with_o man_n in_o a_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o bring_v in_o a_o covenant_n of_o the_o law_n to_o man_n suitable_a to_o his_o present_a state_n only_o in_o subserviency_n to_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o will_v not_o have_v man_n stick_v there_o but_o cling_v to_o he_o in_o the_o grace_n and_o seek_v remission_n through_o the_o grace_n for_o his_o own_o name_n sake_n yet_o man_n through_o the_o prevalency_n of_o the_o first_o principle_n in_o he_o and_o his_o look_v on_o god_n through_o that_o be_v apt_a to_o fix_v on_o this_o covenant_n and_o draw_v comfort_n or_o discouragement_n to_o himself_o from_o his_o own_o obedience_n or_o fail_n and_o not_o live_v on_o the_o freeness_n of_o god_n love_n and_o the_o faithfulness_n of_o his_o heart_n to_o the_o soul_n to_o all_o condition_n for_o his_o christ_n sake_n this_o have_v be_v the_o great_a error_n of_o israel_n even_o of_o israel_n after_o the_o flesh_n and_o of_o israel_n after_o the_o spirit_n also_o that_o while_o god_n lay_v hold_v on_o they_o by_o his_o love_n promise_n mercy_n and_o grace_n yet_o they_o lay_v
