grief_n and_o sorrow_n they_o be_v defile_v with_o pride_n but_o these_o speak_v out_o of_o humility_n to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n alone_o and_o the_o amendment_n of_o their_o neighbour_n great_a also_o be_v the_o difference_n betwixt_o those_o who_o have_v their_o knowledge_n and_o understanding_n only_o from_o read_v or_o hear_v and_o those_o to_o who_o it_o be_v reveal_v who_o understanding_n be_v endow_v by_o illumination_n moreover_o there_o be_v another_o and_o great_a difference_n as_o be_v abovesaid_a betwixt_o those_o who_o have_v revelation_n and_o internal_a desire_n of_o the_o good_a than_o he_o search_v out_o mean_v by_o which_o he_o may_v be_v free_v from_o that_o accusation_n of_o conscience_n now_o when_o he_o can_v find_v no_o mean_n thus_o to_o bind_v down_o the_o appetite_n thought_n and_o motion_n of_o his_o flesh_n but_o they_o always_o still_o get_v loose_a again_o then_o indeed_o it_o be_v that_o he_o apprehend_v that_o though_o all_o outward_a vice_n and_o transgression_n be_v lay_v aside_o yet_o there_o still_o remain_v in_o the_o flesh_n the_o root_n of_o they_o and_o that_o he_o can_v be_v free_v by_o all_o his_o endeavour_n grieving_n and_o mourning_n from_o that_o appetite_n of_o the_o flesh_n which_o stir_v up_o in_o he_o anger_n wrath_n impure_a lust_n and_o vain_a thought_n and_o such_o like_a but_o some_o time_n or_o other_o it_o will_v again_o seize_v upon_o his_o soul_n and_o thus_o he_o come_v to_o see_v that_o he_o be_v not_o so_o set_v free_a from_o the_o dominion_n of_o the_o law_n but_o that_o he_o always_o must_v yet_o endure_v that_o accusation_n concern_v the_o root_n of_o sin_n yet_o lurk_v in_o the_o most_o inward_a part_n of_o his_o heart_n now_o although_o the_o more_o vulgar_a and_o common_a external_a knowledge_n of_o christ_n be_v willing_a to_o palliate_v and_o cover_v over_o this_o inward_a stain_n by_o the_o bless_a death_n of_o christ_n say_v these_o thing_n can_v hurt_v a_o christian_n christ_n die_v for_o they_o nor_o indeed_o shall_v i_o contradict_v they_o nevertheless_o because_o christ_n therefore_o come_v and_o appear_v that_o he_o may_v destroy_v the_o work_n thing_n be_v do_v be_v do_v only_o for_o love_n yet_o nevertheless_o man_n do_v perform_v these_o thing_n out_o of_o the_o terror_n and_o the_o impulse_n of_o their_o own_o conscience_n as_o the_o often_o our_o renew_n of_o death_n so_o that_o all_o may_v together_o and_o at_o once_o remain_v bury_v also_o in_o christ_n death_n eternal_o a_o more_o certain_a essential_a sort_n of_o death_n as_o i_o may_v so_o say_v follow_v we_o into_o that_o better_a state_n or_o condition_n most_o belove_a lady_n receive_v i_o pray_v thou_o these_o my_o letter_n kind_o if_o perhaps_o they_o may_v prove_v to_o be_v of_o any_o use_n to_o thou_o in_o thy_o holy_a endeavour_n and_o that_o we_o may_v come_v at_o length_n to_o the_o total_a renounce_v our_o flesh_n that_o then_o we_o may_v be_v judge_v according_a to_o the_o rule_n of_o righteousness_n which_o the_o law_n require_v by_o christ_n for_o in_o christ_n sin_n be_v utter_o condemn_v to_o death_n and_o as_o much_o as_o we_o be_v plant_v together_o with_o he_o in_o the_o likeness_n of_o his_o death_n so_o much_o also_o shall_v we_o through_o his_o resurrection_n be_v receive_v into_o the_o newness_n or_o the_o spirit_n who_o then_o perform_v in_o man_n the_o office_n of_o a_o governor_n and_o be_v to_o he_o in_o the_o stead_n of_o his_o life_n who_o place_n before_o this_o our_o flesh_n supply_v all_o that_o be_v beyond_o this_o the_o lord_n himself_o will_v manifest_v to_o we_o when_o we_o come_v thither_o if_o therefore_o we_o have_v our_o inward_a sense_n right_o exercise_v by_o the_o lord_n and_o do_v firm_o adhere_v to_o command_v we_o to_o have_v a_o great_a care_n of_o or_o to_o watch_v such_o a_o heart_n which_o seek_v double_a way_n and_o carry_v upon_o either_o shoulder_n and_o halt_v on_o either_o leg_n etc._n etc._n for_o we_o can_v at_o the_o same_o time_n satisfy_v the_o flesh_n conscience_n hinder_v we_o and_o conscience_n too_o the_o flesh_n hinder_v we_o therefore_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o we_o much_o more_o essential_a than_o it_o be_v at_o first_o when_o he_o be_v to_o lose_v himself_o with_o so_o great_a a_o anguish_n and_o death_n chap._n xxix_o when_o a_o man_n lose_v himself_o as_o to_o the_o body_n he_o afterward_o find_v himself_o as_o to_o his_o soul_n in_o the_o supernatural_a understanding_n knowledge_n vision_n and_o use_v then_o when_o he_o again_o lose_v himself_o as_o to_o his_o soul_n he_o be_v strip_v of_o all_o these_o again_o and_o then_o arise_v great_a calamity_n hell_n and_o misery_n yet_o if_o he_o go_v forth_o out_o of_o they_o than_o he_o find_v himself_o in_o the_o vision_n of_o god_n and_o in_o such_o wisdom_n understanding_n and_o claritude_n as_o the_o former_a understand_a vision_n and_o use_n of_o his_o soul_n when_o he_o first_o â—ost_o his_o body_n can_v not_o comprehend_v christ_n therefore_o so_o assume_v humanity_n 〈◊〉_d that_o he_o be_v unite_v therewith_o but_o 〈◊〉_d after_o that_o the_o inferior_a power_n also_o aâ—_n to_o be_v that_o seed_n and_o know_v not_o that_o he_o be_v sow_o therewith_o until_o it_o come_v up_o nor_o yet_o do_v it_o come_v up_o until_o it_o be_v corrupt_v in_o the_o earth_n how_o great_a misery_n and_o anguish_n in_o duong_n be_v require_v to_o that_o corruption_n of_o the_o â—eed_n be_v also_o know_v to_o they_o who_o have_v â—elt_v it_o this_o death_n of_o the_o soul_n happen_v â—fter_o also_o must_v be_v lose_v and_o this_o be_v that_o same_o talon_n which_o the_o lord_n require_v of_o the_o man_n beside_o those_o ten_o for_o both_o sum_n be_v due_a unto_o he_o and_o he_o will_v have_v both_o pay_v unto_o himself_o that_o which_o be_v say_v before_o concern_v the_o seed_n sow_o in_o a_o purify_a mind_n which_o be_v not_o perceive_v until_o it_o be_v corrupt_v and_o growth_n endeavour_v to_o avoid_v the_o difficulty_n on_o that_o part_n on_o the_o other_o he_o fall_v into_o it_o that_o be_v into_o a_o state_n where_o the_o natural_a man_n be_v condemn_v when_o the_o law_n do_v no_o long_o accuse_v a_o man_n be_v condemn_v like_o a_o malefactor_n who_o be_v first_o accuse_v and_o at_o length_n be_v punish_v then_o the_o accusation_n cease_v he_o suffer_v death_n by_o the_o mean_n of_o which_o alone_o he_o be_v free_v from_o the_o accusation_n of_o the_o law_n he_o that_o tri_v this_o shall_v find_v it_o no_o liar_n which_o have_v promise_v to_o he_o no_o neither_o take_v joy_n in_o any_o thing_n nor_o can_v he_o draw_v comfort_n from_o the_o evil_n of_o other_o man_n and_o that_o usual_a say_n that_o common_a mischief_n do_v bring_v comfort_n with_o they_o yet_o be_v not_o true_a in_o he_o he_o that_o be_v yield_v up_o to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n be_v without_o choice_n yea_o his_o very_a word_n which_o infer_v election_n do_v terrifiy_n he_o
for_o where_o the_o virtue_n of_o divine_a will_n be_v feel_v there_o such_o word_n do_v excite_v consternation_n therefore_o it_o be_v not_o for_o he_o to_o say_v i_o hope_v it_o will_v be_v so_o equal_o on_o both_o side_n grievous_o afflict_v so_o as_o that_o he_o must_v deny_v one_o or_o the_o other_o let_v i_o pray_v that_o man_n bear_v up_o and_o let_v he_o deny_v nature_n and_o not_o a_o new_a promise_n of_o grace_n because_o grace_n in_o the_o regenerate_v have_v take_v most_o deep_a root_n according_a to_o its_o own_o true_a nature_n so_o that_o such_o have_v certain_o no_o need_n to_o seek_v out_o some_o remedy_n out_o of_o their_o own_o self_n which_o whilst_o other_o do_v they_o do_v in_o this_o very_a point_n testify_v that_o they_o have_v not_o attain_v to_o that_o of_o which_o they_o boast_v and_o which_o they_o by_o the_o testimony_n of_o the_o scripture_n attribute_v to_o themselves_o in_o the_o very_a truth_n and_o according_a to_o the_o proper_a essence_n body_n and_o in_o its_o sphere_n to_o death_n without_o any_o resurrection_n at_o all_o according_a to_o its_o own_o proper_a nature_n and_o the_o supernatural_a man_n in_o its_o perfect_a sphere_n to_o eternal_a life_n abide_v eternal_o in_o god_n and_o yet_o as_o a_o creature_n but_o glorify_v in_o god_n he_o who_o come_v to_o this_o state_n can_v deny_v the_o truth_n of_o the_o thing_n but_o
