no_o religion_n and_o in_o this_o let_v no_o one_o be_v concern_v for_o i_o as_o a_o desperade_n for_o i_o be_o not_o go_v to_o renounce_v the_o other_o part_n of_o our_o religion_n but_o to_o add_v another_o article_n of_o faith_n to_o it_o without_o which_o i_o can_v understand_v the_o rest_n and_o if_o i_o lose_v this_o additional_a article_n by_o fail_v in_o this_o attempt_n i_o have_v as_o much_o religion_n leave_v still_o as_o they_o that_o pity_v i_o nor_o have_v i_o in_o all_o this_o speak_v presumptuous_o or_o from_o fancy_n have_v say_v nothing_o but_o what_o he_o that_o make_v i_o he_o when_o he_o affirm_v it_o be_v the_o custom_n of_o the_o world_n to_o the_o contrary_n abraham_n be_v dead_a and_o the_o prophet_n be_v dead_a who_o make_v thou_o thyself_o to_o be_v and_o i_o be_o not_o unaware_o that_o this_o custom_n of_o the_o world_n to_o die_v have_v gain_v such_o a_o prevalency_n over_o our_o mind_n by_o prepossess_v we_o of_o the_o necessity_n of_o death_n that_o it_o stand_v ready_a to_o swallow_v my_o argument_n whole_a without_o digest_v it_o for_o if_o the_o custom_n of_o bondage_n derive_v upon_o man_n but_o for_o a_o few_o generation_n do_v so_o enure_v he_o to_o subjection_n that_o he_o think_v it_o jure_fw-la divino_fw-la and_o all_o attempt_n against_o it_o to_o be_v rebellion_n how_o much_o more_o may_v i_o expect_v that_o this_o attempt_n against_o death_n which_o have_v have_v so_o much_o a_o long_a possession_n over_o man_n will_v be_v account_v madness_n but_o as_o a_o learned_a man_n say_v that_o the_o pride_n of_o woman_n come_v from_o the_o baseness_n of_o man_n and_o the_o courage_n of_o coward_n from_o other_o more_o coward_n so_o i_o may_v say_v that_o the_o dominion_n of_o death_n be_v support_v by_o our_o fear_n of_o it_o by_o which_o it_o have_v bully_v the_o world_n to_o this_o day_n and_o therefore_o before_o i_o fall_v upon_o the_o direct_a proof_n of_o my_o argument_n i_o will_v offer_v a_o answer_n to_o the_o custom_n of_o the_o world_n against_o i_o custom_n itself_o without_o a_o reason_n for_o it_o be_v a_o argument_n only_o to_o fool_n nor_o can_v the_o life_n or_o death_n of_o one_o man_n be_v abraham_n be_v dead_a and_o the_o prophet_n be_v dead_a what_o then_o why_o abraham_n have_v a_o son_n of_o his_o own_o beget_n at_o a_o hundred_o year_n old_a upon_o a_o woman_n of_o ninety_o have_v a_o army_n of_o man_n bear_v in_o his_o own_o house_n flock_n and_o herd_n without_o number_n and_o a_o whole_a country_n of_o his_o own_o to_o feed_v they_o in_o and_o the_o prophet_n be_v favourite_n of_o heaven_n can_v raise_v the_o dead_a and_o kill_v the_o live_n must_v therefore_o any_o of_o these_o gift_n happen_v to_o i_o why_o then_o if_o i_o must_v not_o partake_v with_o abraham_n and_o the_o prophet_n in_o their_o blessing_n why_o must_v i_o partake_v with_o they_o in_o their_o death_n nor_o do_v abraham_n die_v because_o the_o prophet_n die_v nor_o do_v the_o prophet_n die_v because_o abraham_n die_v then_o if_o their_o death_n have_v no_o effect_n upon_o one_o another_o why_o shall_v they_o have_v any_o effect_n upon_o i_o and_o as_o the_o life_n or_o death_n of_o one_o man_n be_v no_o cause_n of_o the_o life_n or_o death_n of_o another_o so_o the_o multitude_n of_o example_n do_v alter_v the_o case_n the_o life_n or_o death_n of_o all_o the_o world_n except_o one_o man_n can_v be_v no_o cause_n of_o the_o life_n or_o death_n of_o that_o one_o man._n almost_o this_o very_a case_n once_o happen_v in_o the_o world_n when_o the_o flood_n destroy_v all_o but_o eight_o person_n and_o yet_o this_o be_v no_o argument_n that_o those_o eight_o must_v be_v drown_v too_o nor_o be_v the_o preservation_n of_o they_o any_o argument_n for_o the_o preservation_n of_o the_o rest_n we_o have_v hear_v of_o a_o hundred_o thousand_o man_n slay_v in_o battle_n and_o yet_o this_o be_v no_o argument_n for_o the_o death_n of_o any_o other_o man_n who_o be_v not_o slay_v in_o it_o wherefore_o the_o custom_n of_o the_o world_n to_o die_v be_v no_o argument_n one_o way_n or_o other_o but_o because_o i_o know_v that_o custom_n itself_o be_v admit_v as_o a_o evidence_n of_o title_n upon_o presumption_n that_o this_o custom_n have_v once_o a_o reasonable_a commencement_n and_o that_o this_o reason_n do_v continue_v therefore_o it_o be_v incumbent_n upon_o i_o to_o answer_v this_o custom_n by_o show_v the_o time_n and_o reason_n of_o its_o commencement_n and_o that_o this_o reason_n be_v determine_v which_o if_o i_o do_v show_v than_o the_o bare_a custom_n of_o the_o world_n to_o die_v ought_v no_o long_o to_o be_v admit_v as_o a_o title_n against_o life_n first_o then_o i_o do_v admit_v the_o custom_n or_o possession_n of_o death_n over_o the_o world_n to_o be_v as_o follow_v viz._n that_o death_n do_v reign_v from_o adam_n to_o moses_n by_o a_o uninterrupted_a possession_n over_o all_o man_n woman_n and_o child_n create_v or_o bear_v except_o one_o breach_n make_v upon_o it_o in_o that_o time_n by_o enoch_n and_o have_v reign_v from_o moses_n unto_o this_o day_n by_o the_o like_a uninterrupted_a possession_n except_o one_o other_o breach_n make_v upon_o it_o in_o this_o time_n by_o elijah_n and_o this_o be_v as_o strong_a a_o possession_n as_o can_v be_v allege_v against_o i_o to_o answer_v this_o i_o must_v show_v that_o this_o custom_n or_o possession_n of_o death_n have_v a_o reasonable_a commencement_n which_o be_v the_o original_a of_o it_o to_o avoid_v this_o possession_n i_o must_v show_v that_o this_o reason_n be_v determine_v and_o that_o therefore_o this_o possession_n ought_v to_o be_v no_o long_o admit_v as_o a_o title_n against_o life_n the_o religion_n of_o the_o world_n now_o be_v that_o man_n be_v bear_v to_o die_v but_o from_o the_o beginning_n it_o be_v not_o so_o for_o man_n be_v make_v to_o live_v god_n make_v not_o death_n till_o man_n bring_v it_o upon_o himself_o by_o his_o delinquency_n adam_n stand_v as_o fair_a for_o life_n as_o death_n and_o fair_a too_o because_o he_o be_v in_o the_o actual_a possession_n of_o life_n as_o tenant_n thereof_o at_o the_o will_n of_o god_n and_o have_v a_o opportunity_n to_o have_v make_v that_o title_n perpetual_a by_o the_o tree_n of_o life_n which_o stand_v before_o he_o with_o the_o tree_n of_o knowledge_n of_o good_a and_o evil._n and_o here_o it_o be_v observable_a how_o the_o same_o act_n of_o man_n be_v make_v the_o condition_n both_o of_o his_o life_n and_o death_n put_v forth_o thy_o hand_n and_o pull_v and_o eat_v and_o die_v or_o put_v forth_o thy_o hand_n and_o pull_v and_o eat_v and_o live_v for_o ever_o so_o little_o do_v god_n esteem_v the_o work_n of_o man_n in_o order_n to_o his_o own_o salvation_n the_o lord_n bacon_n descant_v upon_o the_o fall_n of_o man_n express_v it_o thus_o that_o man_n make_v a_o total_a defection_n from_o god_n presume_v to_o imagine_v that_o the_o commandment_n and_o prohibition_n of_o god_n be_v not_o the_o rule_n of_o good_a and_o evil_a but_o that_o good_a and_o evil_n have_v their_o own_o principle_n and_o beginning_n and_o that_o man_n lust_v after_o the_o both_o to_o be_v have_v upon_o the_o same_o condition_n that_o he_o shall_v single_v out_o his_o own_o death_n and_o leave_v the_o tree_n of_o life_n untouched_a and_o what_o be_v further_a strange_a even_o after_o his_o election_n of_o death_n he_o have_v a_o interval_n of_o time_n before_o his_o expulsion_n out_o of_o paradise_n to_o have_v retrieve_v his_o fate_n by_o put_v forth_o his_o hand_n to_o the_o tree_n of_o life_n and_o that_o yet_o he_o omit_v this_o too_o but_o by_o all_o this_o it_o be_v manifest_a that_o as_o the_o form_n or_o person_n of_o man_n in_o his_o first_o creation_n be_v capable_a of_o eternal_a life_n without_o die_v so_o the_o fall_n of_o man_n which_o happen_v to_o he_o after_o his_o creation_n have_v not_o disable_v his_o person_n from_o that_o capacity_n of_o eternal_a life_n and_o therefore_o dare_v man_n even_o then_o have_v break_v through_o the_o cherubin_n and_o flame_a sword_n or_o can_v he_o now_o any_o way_n come_v at_o the_o tree_n of_o life_n he_o must_v yet_o live_v for_o ever_o notwithstanding_o his_o sin_n commit_v in_o paradise_n and_o his_o expulsion_n out_o of_o it_o but_o this_o tree_n of_o life_n now_o seem_v lose_v to_o
