three_o that_o in_o their_o sentence_n they_o walk_v by_o and_o proceed_v according_a to_o the_o substantial_a rule_n and_o direction_n give_v they_o in_o those_o law_n and_o where_o these_o three_o thing_n concur_v to_o a_o sentence_n it_o may_v be_v say_v to_o be_v just_a in_o a_o absolute_a consideration_n and_o when_o it_o miss_v it_o in_o any_o of_o these_o it_o can_v true_o and_o right_o bear_v the_o domination_n of_o such_o a_o sentence_n now_o that_o the_o sentence_n past_a upon_o i_o be_v a_o just_a sentence_n in_o this_o absolute_a consideration_n i_o have_v not_o and_o i_o hope_v never_o shall_v acknowledge_v but_o than_o second_o a_o sentence_n may_v be_v say_v to_o be_v just_a in_o a_o respective_a or_o relative_a consideration_n that_o be_v as_o it_o have_v reference_n to_o and_o respect_v those_o law_n which_o be_v the_o rise_n and_o foundation_n of_o it_o now_o though_o a_o sentence_n shall_v miss_v it_o in_o the_o two_o first_o respect_n of_o a_o sentence_n absolute_o just_a that_o be_v though_o the_o law_n proceed_v by_o shall_v be_v vicious_a for_o the_o matter_n of_o they_o and_o the_o minister_n of_o they_o usurper_n that_o have_v no_o right_a nor_o title_n to_o the_o exercise_n either_o of_o those_o or_o any_o other_o law_n yet_o if_o their_o proceed_n be_v such_o as_o that_o the_o sentence_n be_v lay_v to_o the_o line_n and_o weigh_v in_o the_o balance_n of_o those_o law_n shall_v be_v find_v in_o any_o sense_n yea_o though_o a_o strain_a and_o force_a sense_n to_o be_v a_o sentence_n according_a to_o and_o that_o hold_v proportion_n with_o those_o law_n or_o any_o other_o clause_n or_o clause_n of_o they_o in_o this_o sense_n and_o so_o far_o the_o sentence_n may_v be_v say_v to_o be_v just_a just_o not_o simple_o and_o absolute_o but_o only_o in_o reference_n and_o relation_n to_o those_o law_n and_o when_o i_o acknowledge_v the_o sentence_n to_o be_v just_a i_o understand_v it_o in_o this_o sense_n viz._n according_a to_o their_o rigid_a and_o force_a inference_n from_o their_o unjust_a and_o cruel_a law_n object_n if_o it_o be_v demand_v what_o be_v the_o reason_n that_o i_o refuse_v former_o to_o mention_v a_o word_n about_o the_o justice_n of_o the_o sentence_n in_o any_o sense_n yet_o afterwards_o do_v it_o sol._n i_o shall_v give_v you_o a_o brief_a and_o i_o hope_v satisfactory_a account_n to_o both_o part_n of_o this_o question_n i_o shall_v first_o give_v you_o the_o reason_n why_o i_o former_o refuse_v to_o speak_v a_o word_n about_o the_o justice_n of_o the_o sentence_n then_o give_v you_o reason_n why_o i_o do_v speak_v something_o

to_o it_o in_o my_o last_o petition_n the_o reason_n why_o i_o former_o refuse_v to_o mention_v a_o word_n in_o my_o three_o first_o petition_n about_o the_o justice_n of_o the_o sentence_n be_v these_o 1._o lest_o i_o shall_v harden_v the_o heart_n of_o my_o unjust_a judge_n they_o themselves_o confess_v i_o be_v as_o intricate_a and_o dubitable_a a_o case_n as_o ever_o come_v before_o they_o to_o find_v by_o what_o act_n and_o by_o what_o clause_n in_o that_o act_n i_o be_v find_v guilty_a therefore_o they_o spend_v more_o time_n about_o my_o trial_n than_o about_o any_o man_n since_o their_o high-court_n be_v establish_v i_o refuse_v therefore_o to_o say_v that_o be_v justice_n which_o god_n will_v say_v be_v murder_n in_o the_o great_a day_n of_o their_o account_n and_o which_o themselves_o can_v hardly_o say_v be_v just_a until_o by_o the_o subtle_a insinuation_n and_o rigid_a inference_n and_o collection_n of_o the_o lawyer_n of_o that_o court_n they_o hook_a i_o within_o the_o compass_n of_o those_o general_a word_n to_o abet_v countenance_n or_o encourage_v 2._o lest_o i_o shall_v injure_v my_o godly_a brethren_n who_o shall_v be_v afterwards_o try_v the_o allegata_fw-la and_o probata_fw-la how_o they_o find_v i_o guilty_a of_o treason_n all_o the_o refuge_n they_o have_v to_o run_v to_o be_v this_o that_o i_o be_v a_o abetter_v countenancer_n or_o more_o satisfactory_a reason_n of_o their_o sentence_n it_o make_v i_o the_o more_o to_o doubt_v of_o the_o justice_n of_o the_o sentence_n even_o according_a to_o their_o own_o law_n upon_o these_o ground_n i_o forbear_v to_o speak_v of_o the_o justice_n of_o the_o sentence_n in_o mention_v the_o justice_n of_o the_o sentence_n i_o do_v not_o use_v lightness_n or_o show_v fickleness_n but_o what_o i_o do_v it_o be_v upon_o solemn_a and_o serious_a advice_n and_o consideration_n the_o reason_n why_o i_o do_v say_v the_o sentence_n of_o death_n be_v just_o past_a upon_o i_o be_v these_o 1._o because_o i_o know_v i_o have_v do_v those_o thing_n which_o their_o cruel_a law_n punish_v with_o death_n as_o i_o do_v write_v a_o letter_n to_o massey_n and_o give_v a_o small_a sum_n of_o money_n to_o he_o both_o which_o be_v punish_v with_o death_n yet_o they_o prove_v neither_o of_o these_o so_o that_o i_o place_v the_o justice_n of_o the_o sentence_n not_o upon_o the_o sufficiency_n of_o the_o proof_n but_o upon_o my_o violation_n of_o their_o bloody_a law_n 2._o i_o have_v not_o so_o much_o hope_n that_o say_v in_o any_o sense_n the_o sentence_n be_v just_a will_v former_o so_o much_o advantage_v i_o as_o now_o i_o have_v therefore_o will_v not_o give_v so_o likely_a a_o offence_n for_o so_o unlikely_a and_o uncertain_a a_o advantage_n 3._o i_o consider_v with_o myself_o that_o the_o sentence_n of_o the_o court_n whether_o just_a or_o unjust_a as_o to_o my_o acknowledgement_n be_v but_o a_o nice_a controversy_n in_o law_n not_o a_o clear_a case_n of_o conscience_n in_o divinity_n i_o do_v not_o refuse_v to_o say_v the_o sentence_n be_v in_o any_o sense_n just_a as_o if_o i_o think_v it_o be_v a_o sin_n in_o its_o own_o nature_n to_o say_v that_o by_o their_o
