quiet_a there_o be_v many_o that_o have_v be_v divers_a year_n labour_v and_o take_v pain_n to_o get_v their_o conscience_n to_o be_v quiet_a and_o can_v but_o their_o conscience_n ever_o and_o anon_o will_v be_v fly_v in_o their_o face_n &_o trouble_v of_o they_o and_o yet_o they_o be_v such_o people_n as_o dare_v not_o commit_v any_o know_a sin_n dare_v not_o neglect_v any_o know_a duty_n be_v constant_a in_o prayer_n in_o secret_a attend_v upon_o the_o word_n and_o whensoever_o they_o hear_v of_o a_o duty_n that_o they_o shall_v perform_v they_o labour_v to_o set_v upon_o it_o withal_o their_o might_n but_o alas_o they_o feel_v little_a sweetness_n and_o comfort_n in_o
the_o world_n sin_n be_v very_a light_n well_o know_v that_o as_o christ_n himself_o feel_v sin_n to_o be_v a_o heavy_a burden_n so_o one_o way_n or_o other_o they_o must_v feel_v it_o either_o here_o of_o no_o imperfection_n at_o all_o this_o be_v a_o heavy_a yoke_n this_o neither_o we_o nor_o our_o father_n can_v bear_v and_o those_o that_o come_v to_o be_v sensible_a of_o this_o must_v needs_o be_v under_o a_o grievous_a burden_n and_o so_o see_v a_o need_n of_o jesus_n christ_n christ_n call_v those_o that_o do_v understand_v this_o it_o be_v true_a if_o it_o be_v thus_o and_o people_n be_v leave_v without_o any_o help_n and_o remedy_n it_o be_v a_o sad_a condition_n true_o if_o christ_n have_v not_o come_v into_o the_o world_n to_o put_v himself_o under_o the_o law_n we_o have_v be_v leave_v thus_o and_o all_o those_o that_o do_v not_o understand_v the_o gospel_n that_o have_v not_o have_v christ_n preach_v unto_o they_o they_o be_v all_o thus_o they_o be_v all_o in_o this_o condition_n they_o be_v under_o a_o law_n that_o they_o can_v perform_v that_o law_n which_o do_v require_v absolute_a and_o perfect_a obedience_n in_o every_o thing_n or_o else_o cast_v they_o three_o the_o burden_n of_o the_o law_n be_v this_o you_o may_v say_v though_o it_o do_v require_v perfect_a obedience_n but_o will_v it_o accept_v of_o no_o endeavour_n at_o all_o suppose_v we_o do_v endeavour_v to_o obey_v to_o the_o uttermost_a that_o we_o can_v there_o be_v many_o man_n will_v require_v thing_n that_o be_v hard_a and_o beyond_o strength_n i_o but_o when_o there_o be_v endeavour_n to_o do_v that_o that_o be_v require_v that_o will_v be_v accept_v wherefore_o we_o be_v to_o know_v this_o that_o the_o law_n accept_v of_o no_o endeavour_n though_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n shall_v strive_v their_o heart_n out_o to_o obey_v to_o come_v to_o the_o height_n of_o the_o perfection_n of_o the_o law_n the_o law_n do_v not_o accept_v of_o those_o endeavour_n it_o be_v true_a when_o the_o soul_n come_v unto_o christ_n in_o the_o gospel_n when_o the_o soul_n come_v under_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n endeavour_n be_v accept_v therefore_o do_v not_o say_v that_o god_n will_v not_o accept_v of_o our_o endeavour_n and_o why_o shall_v we_o endeavour_v yes_o if_o you_o come_v unto_o christ_n your_o endeavour_n will_v be_v accept_v as_o we_o shall_v show_v you_o when_o we_o come_v to_o discourse_v the_o rest_n that_o the_o soul_n have_v in_o christ_n but_o now_o here_o be_v a_o argument_n to_o drive_v poor_a soul_n to_o christ_n to_o consider_v that_o while_n you_o be_v out_o of_o christ_n your_o endeavour_n be_v not_o accept_v you_o be_v not_o in_o away_o of_o life_n for_o life_n and_o salvation_n it_o be_v not_o to_o be_v have_v in_o the_o condition_n you_o be_v now_o in_o for_o the_o law_n require_v obedience_n it_o must_v have_v the_o work_v do_v you_o can_v be_v but_o either_o under_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n or_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n so_o long_o as_o you_o be_v under_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n there_o the_o work_n be_v call_v for_o and_o not_o mere_o endeavour_n that_o will_v not_o do_v therefore_o the_o apostle_n say_v in_o the_o rom._n 10.5_o for_o moses_n describe_v the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n that_o he_o which_o do_v those_o thing_n shall_v live_v by_o they_o you_o must_v either_o be_v righteous_a by_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n or_o by_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n now_o if_o you_o will_v be_v righteous_a by_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n hear_v what_o it_o be_v he_o that_o do_v these_o thing_n shall_v live_v by_o they_o if_o you_o do_v they_o moses_n do_v not_o say_v he_o that_o endeavour_v to_o do_v these_o thing_n he_o that_o strive_v to_o do_v these_o thing_n no_o but_o moses_n say_v he_o that_o do_v they_o he_o that_o do_v these_o thing_n shall_v live_v by_o they_o it_o must_v be_v do_v and_o not_o endeavour_v that_o the_o law_n accept_v and_o that_o be_v the_o three_o thing_n wherein_o the_o bondage_n of_o the_o law_n consist_v say_v christ_n come_v to_o i_o and_o you_o shall_v have_v rest_n it_o be_v by_o believe_v in_o christ_n that_o you_o must_v have_v rest_n there_o can_v be_v no_o rest_n but_o a_o grievous_a burden_n upon_o the_o soul_n till_o it_o do_v come_v to_o christ_n if_o it_o do_v understand_v thing_n and_o if_o it_o do_v not_o understand_v these_o thing_n it_o be_v in_o so_o much_o the_o worse_a condition_n though_o perhaps_o it_o be_v not_o sensible_a of_o such_o a_o burden_n through_o ignorance_n as_o most_o people_n spend_v off_o all_o their_o day_n and_o through_o ignorance_n do_v not_o come_v to_o be_v sensible_a of_o it_o but_o when_o the_o soul_n come_v to_o understand_v what_o term_n there_o be_v between_o god_n and_o it_o and_o how_o it_o must_v stand_v before_o god_n that_o it_o must_v either_o stand_v by_o virtue_n of_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n or_o a_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o that_o all_o natural_o be_v under_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n and_o so_o long_o as_o i_o be_o in_o my_o natural_a condition_n i_o be_o under_o such_o a_o law_n that_o accept_v of_o no_o endeavour_n this_o must_v needs_o be_v a_o great_a burden_n unto_o the_o soul_n and_o make_v it_o to_o see_v a_o absolute_a necessity_n of_o go_v to_o
man_n of_o any_o way_n of_o redemption_n of_o any_o way_n of_o deliverance_n but_o mere_o show_v unto_o we_o our_o misery_n and_o so_o leave_v we_o i_o do_v not_o mean_v the_o law_n that_o be_v in_o the_o book_n of_o the_o old_a testament_n for_o there_o be_v gospel_n mingle_v i_o do_v not_o say_v that_o moses_n do_v not_o tell_v we_o of_o any_o way_n of_o redemption_n but_o i_o mean_v the_o law_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n so_o far_o as_o that_o be_v reveal_v in_o moses_n and_o that_o be_v reveal_v in_o the_o new_a testament_n in_o a_o great_a pâ—rt_n of_o it_o that_o only_o show_v we_o our_o misery_n and_o there_o leave_v we_o but_o grace_n and_o truth_n and_o mercy_n that_o come_v in_o by_o jesus_n christ_n ten_o a_o ten_o particular_a wherein_n the_o grievous_a bondage_n under_o the_o law_n appear_v be_v this_o that_o it_o be_v such_o a_o law_n as_o there_o can_v be_v no_o appeal_n from_o it_o no_o nor_o no_o repeal_n of_o it_o though_o it_o be_v thus_o strict_a and_o thus_o severe_a yet_o i_o say_v there_o be_v no_o appeal_n from_o it_o nor_o no_o repeal_n of_o it_o there_o be_v many_o law_n that_o we_o may_v appeal_v from_o one_o to_o another_o or_o if_o that_o law_n be_v hard_a it_o may_v be_v call_v in_o again_o we_o can_v appeal_v from_o the_o authority_n of_o this_o law_n nor_o can_v it_o be_v repeal_v you_o will_v say_v this_o exclud_v we_o from_o all_o help_n though_o there_o be_v many_o hard_a law_n make_v by_o man_n and_o as_o long_o as_o they_o stand_v in_o force_n people_n be_v in_o a_o very_a sad_a condition_n yet_o there_o may_v be_v mean_n to_o repeal_v they_o but_o as_o for_o this_o law_n there_o can_v it_o seem_v be_v no_o appeal_n from_o it_o nor_o repeal_n of_o it_o may_v we_o not_o appeal_v from_o god_n justice_n to_o god_n mercy_n seat_n i_o have_v indeed_o speak_v of_o such_o a_o expression_n but_o that_o expession_n must_v be_v wary_o understand_v for_o the_o truth_n be_v there_o be_v no_o proper_a appeal_n from_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n to_o his_o mercy_n when_o the_o sinner_n come_v to_o christ_n it_o have_v the_o pardon_n seal_v in_o the_o court_n of_o justice_n as_o well_o as_o in_o the_o court_n of_o mercy_n there_o be_v no_o soul_n that_o be_v save_v but_o god_n justice_n be_v as_o well_o satisfy_v as_o his_o mercy_n be_v glorify_v nor_o no_o repeal_n of_o this_o law_n what_o must_v the_o law_n stand_v in_o force_n then_o yes_o the_o law_n shall_v stand_v in_o force_n and_o yet_o there_o shall_v be_v thousand_o of_o soul_n save_v how_o be_v that_o you_o will_v say_v this_o be_v the_o mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n that_o the_o law_n shall_v stand_v in_o force_n and_o yet_o man_n shall_v be_v save_v there_o shall_v be_v a_o way_n to_o save_v man_n for_o all_o this_o certain_o if_o the_o law_n go_v on_o in_o its_o course_n one_o will_v think_v that_o it_o will_v carry_v on_o all_o mankind_n to_o eternal_a destruction_n yea_o and_o so_o it_o will_v have_v do_v but_o only_o for_o this_o great_a saviour_n and_o redeemer_n jesus_n christ_n that_o call_v sinner_n to_o he_o that_o they_o may_v have_v rest_n he_o come_v and_o put_v himself_o under_o the_o law_n and_o what_o the_o law_n require_v he_o do_v and_o he_o suffer_v so_o that_o here_o be_v all_o the_o alteration_n the_o law_n go_v on_o and_o have_v its_o course_n only_o whereas_o it_o may_v have_v require_v to_o have_v have_v the_o course_n of_o it_o upon_o ourselves_o in_o person_n now_o god_n be_v content_a that_o it_o shall_v have_v its_o course_n upon_o our_o security_n when_o a_o man_n owe_v a_o debt_n the_o law_n require_v performance_n it_o be_v one_o thing_n to_o have_v the_o law_n repeal_v and_o a_o other_o to_o have_v the_o debtor_n deliver_v if_o a_o sureâ—â—_n will_v come_v and_o undertake_v the_o debt_n he_o be_v deliver_v though_o he_o have_v not_o pay_v it_o &_o yet_o the_o law_n have_v its_o course_n for_o the_o surety_n discharge_v what_o the_o debtor_n shall_v have_v do_v so_o the_o way_n of_o salvation_n for_o any_o soul_n it_o be_v not_o either_o by_o appeal_n from_o the_o law_n or_o by_o the_o repeal_n of_o the_o law_n but_o we_o must_v look_v upon_o the_o law_n to_o have_v its_o course_n only_o to_o have_v its_o course_n upon_o christ_n our_o surety_n who_o have_v full_o satisfy_v the_o law_n and_o christ_n look_v thus_o upon_o be_v the_o true_a object_n of_o our_o faith_n and_o except_o we_o apprehend_v christ_n thus_o as_o one_o make_v under_o the_o law_n as_o the_o scripture_n say_v and_o one_o that_o do_v endure_v the_o law_n to_o have_v its_o course_n upon_o he_o and_o so_o to_o satisfy_v the_o law_n except_o we_o look_v upon_o christ_n thus_o we_o look_v not_o upon_o he_o as_o the_o right_a object_n of_o our_o faith_n and_o christ_n he_o thus_o call_v upon_o you_o that_o be_v weary_a and_o heavy_a lade_v to_o come_v to_o he_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v poor_a sinner_n that_o be_v under_o such_o a_o covenant_n as_o this_o be_v you_o know_v that_o though_o it_o be_v not_o repeal_v i_o have_v come_v and_o put_v myself_o under_o this_o law_n it_o have_v have_v its_o course_n upon_o i_o come_v to_o i_o and_o the_o law_n shall_v be_v sattisfy_v it_o shall_v have_v nothing_o to_o say_v against_o you_o but_o you_o shall_v have_v through_o rest_n in_o i_o come_v therefore_o to_o i_o eleven_o the_o eleven_o thing_n in_o the_o law_n be_v that_o it_o be_v so_o far_o from_o enable_v we_o to_o perform_v that_o obedience_n which_o it_o require_v that_o in_o regard_n of_o our_o own_o wretched_a condition_n that_o we_o be_v now_o in_o the_o more_o it_o come_v to_o be_v reveal_v the_o more_o be_v our_o corruption_n stir_v up_o it_o do_v through_o our_o fault_n not_o from_o any_o fault_n in_o the_o law_n stir_v up_o our_o corruption_n so_o much_o the_o more_o luther_n compare_v it_o to_o water_n cast_v upon_o lime_n the_o law_n come_v into_o the_o heart_n be_v in_o its_o natural_a condition_n till_o god_n oovercome_v it_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v stir_v up_o so_o much_o the_o more_o you_o have_v a_o notable_a expression_n for_o this_o in_o the_o example_n of_o paul_n who_o feel_v it_o thus_o in_o himself_o in_o rom._n 7.5_o for_o when_o we_o be_v in_o the_o flesh_n the_o motion_n of_o sin_n which_o be_v by_o the_o law_n do_v work_v in_o our_o member_n to_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n unto_o death_n and_o again_o in_o ver_fw-la 8._o for_o sin_n take_v occasion_n by_o the_o commandment_n wrought_v in_o i_o all_o manner_n of_o concupiscence_n it_o take_v occasion_n by_o the_o commandment_n there_o be_v many_o people_n that_o be_v the_o worse_a by_o hear_v the_o law_n reveal_v unto_o they_o until_o god_n please_v to_o overcome_v their_o heart_n by_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o gospel_n now_o put_v all_o these_o together_o and_o the_o soul_n that_o come_v to_o be_v enlighten_v to_o understand_v these_o do_v you_o not_o think_v that_o such_o a_o soul_n will_v be_v burden_v be_v it_o not_o a_o burden_n to_o be_v in_o this_o condition_n be_v it_o possible_a that_o the_o soul_n can_v have_v any_o rest_n in_o this_o condition_n you_o will_v say_v these_o thing_n be_v hard_a in_o themselves_o but_o first_o if_o you_o do_v but_o understand_v the_o infinite_a holiness_n there_o be_v in_o god_n and_o the_o infinite_a justice_n of_o god_n with_o who_o you_o have_v to_o deal_v and_o if_o you_o do_v but_o understand_v the_o perfect_a condition_n that_o god_n do_v make_v man_n in_o at_o the_o first_o present_v before_o your_o soul_n the_o infinite_a holiness_n and_o justice_n of_o the_o great_a god_n with_o who_o you_o have_v to_o do_v and_o then_o present_a before_o your_o soul_n that_o perfect_a state_n that_o god_n do_v make_v man_n in_o innocency_n and_o then_o these_o thing_n will_v be_v clear_a unto_o you_o and_o if_o these_o thing_n be_v only_o preach_v to_o you_o and_o nothing_o else_o they_o will_v seem_v to_o be_v hard_o but_o it_o be_v all_o in_o order_n to_o this_o invitation_n of_o christ_n chap._n viii_o three_o conclusion_n arise_v from_o the_o former_a doctrine_n concern_v the_o burden_n under_o the_o law_n namely_o 1._o that_o man_n by_o nature_n be_v in_o a_o evil_a case_n 2._o that_o it_o be_v a_o mighty_a work_n to_o save_v a_o soul_n 3._o that_o those_o vain_a thought_n whereby_o man_n think_v to_o pacify_v their_o conscience_n will_v stand_v they_o in_o no_o stead_n now_o upon_o the_o hear_n of_o these_o thing_n we_o may_v true_o draw_v such_o conclusion_n as_o these_o first_o that_o certain_o man_n be_v in_o a_o ill_a case_n by_o nature_n it_o be_v observe_v of_o the_o people_n of_o israel_n when_o
call_v such_o a_o soul_n to_o come_v to_o he_o that_o it_o may_v have_v rest_n and_o peace_n that_o indeed_o it_o may_v have_v that_o righteousness_n that_o may_v make_v it_o stand_v with_o comfort_n before_o the_o great_a god_n and_o come_v to_o have_v eternal_a life_n at_o last_o but_o for_o our_o come_n to_o christ_n and_o our_o rest_n in_o he_o that_o belong_v to_o the_o other_o point_n thus_o much_o for_o the_o open_n of_o the_o burden_n of_o legal_a performance_n chap._n xi_o of_o the_o burden_n of_o corruption_n and_o that_o there_o be_v corruption_n in_o the_o saint_n be_v a_o burden_n 1._o of_o grief_n 2._o of_o shame_n 3._o of_o fear_n 4._o of_o care_n 5._o of_o labour_n and_o toil_n the_o next_o burden_n be_v the_o burden_n of_o the_o remain_a part_n of_o corruption_n in_o the_o saint_n those_o that_o be_v godly_a and_o have_v their_o part_n in_o christ_n and_o have_v come_v to_o christ_n already_o but_o yet_o they_o must_v come_v again_o and_o again_o that_o be_v though_o they_o be_v believer_n and_o have_v exercise_v faith_n to_o unite_v they_o to_o christ_n they_o have_v still_o remain_v in_o they_o much_o corruption_n much_o sin_n they_o must_v come_v to_o christ_n again_o to_o be_v ease_v of_o their_o corruption_n and_o still_o all_o the_o day_n of_o their_o life_n to_o be_v exercise_v of_o faith_n in_o christ_n to_o be_v ease_v of_o the_o burden_n of_o remain_a corruption_n that_o be_v in_o they_o that_o the_o corruption_n that_o yet_o remain_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o saint_n be_v a_o burden_n i_o suppose_v every_o one_o of_o you_o can_v witness_v that_o be_v godly_a there_o be_v no_o godly_a man_n or_o woman_n in_o the_o world_n but_o know_v what_o the_o meaning_n of_o this_o point_n be_v perhaps_o the_o other_o point_n of_o legal_a performance_n be_v such_o a_o point_n that_o many_o of_o you_o scarce_o understand_v what_o it_o be_v but_o because_o i_o know_v it_o be_v of_o exceed_a use_n to_o other_o though_o it_o may_v not_o be_v understand_v of_o many_o they_o must_v not_o loose_v their_o portion_n but_o there_o be_v none_o that_o have_v any_o spark_n of_o godliness_n but_o do_v and_o will_v understand_v what_o i_o mean_v and_o what_o i_o shall_v say_v in_o this_o point_n of_o the_o burden_n of_o corruption_n that_o do_v still_o remain_v in_o the_o godly_a in_o the_o best_a that_o live_v upon_o the_o earth_n and_o that_o every_o one_o acknowledge_v it_o be_v in_o every_o man_n mouth_n almost_o we_o be_v all_o sinner_n but_o now_o here_o be_v the_o difference_n between_o the_o wicked_a and_o the_o godly_a the_o wicked_a have_v sin_n enough_o in_o they_o but_o it_o be_v no_o burden_n to_o they_o but_o the_o godly_a have_v their_o sin_n to_o be_v their_o burden_n the_o remainder_n of_o sin_n though_o it_o be_v never_o so_o little_a it_o be_v a_o most_o grievous_a burden_n unto_o they_o and_o to_o these_o i_o be_o to_o speak_v out_o of_o this_o text_n yea_o christ_n himself_o speak_v to_o they_o come_v unto_o i_o you_o that_o be_v lade_v with_o the_o burden_n of_o corruption_n the_o burden_n of_o sin_n that_o still_o remain_v in_o you_o come_v to_o i_o and_o i_o will_v give_v you_o rest_v that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o this_o body_n of_o death_n there_o be_v the_o first_o part_n the_o burden_n of_o corruption_n &_o then_o he_o run_v to_o christ_n i_o thank_v god_n through_o jesus_n christ_n so_o then_o i_o myself_o with_o my_o mind_n serve_v the_o law_n of_o god_n but_o with_o my_o flesh_n the_o law_n of_o sin_n i_o have_v get_v ease_n and_o rest_n by_o there_o be_v never_o any_o more_o abuse_v than_o he_o be_v he_o tell_v you_o of_o be_v stone_v suffer_v of_o shipwreck_n and_o abuse_v of_o his_o own_o countryman_n that_o he_o suffer_v nakedness_n and_o hunger_n and_o be_v whip_v as_o if_o he_o have_v be_v the_o most_o notorious_a rogue_n in_o all_o the_o country_n he_o have_v the_o burden_n of_o disgrace_n upon_o he_o account_v the_o off-scowring_a of_o the_o world_n and_o the_o burden_n of_o poverty_n want_v cloâ—_n and_o bread_n and_o be_v fain_o to_o go_v up_o and_o down_o from_o place_n to_o place_n yet_o notwithstanding_o these_o burden_n upon_o he_o you_o never_o read_v that_o paul_n do_v account_v himself_o a_o wretched_a man_n in_o regard_n of_o these_o burden_n you_o never_o read_v that_o paul_n cry_v out_o o_o of_o the_o corruption_n of_o man_n heart_n may_v appear_v in_o some_o measure_n by_o this_o it_o be_v strange_a to_o see_v that_o notwithstanding_o all_o the_o conviction_n of_o conscience_n &_o tell_v man_n of_o the_o dangerousness_n of_o their_o way_n that_o it_o will_v never_o be_v peace_n in_o the_o end_n that_o they_o will_v rue_v it_o at_o the_o last_o and_o their_o conscience_n give_v they_o many_o a_o secret_a nip_n yet_o they_o go_v on_o still_o notwithstanding_o the_o terror_n in_o the_o law_n many_o time_n nay_o notwithstanding_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n have_v be_v strong_a upon_o they_o and_o they_o have_v cry_v out_o against_o their_o sin_n and_o promise_v against_o they_o and_o notwithstanding_o that_o they_o find_v that_o their_o sin_n do_v destroy_v the_o very_a bare_o to_o understand_v christ_n but_o we_o must_v understand_v christ_n as_o one_o that_o be_v the_o great_a saviour_n to_o deliver_v we_o from_o the_o law_n one_o that_o come_v to_o give_v rest_n and_o ease_v to_o we_o from_o the_o law_n now_o except_o we_o understand_v the_o yoke_n and_o burden_n of_o the_o law_n we_o can_v understand_v the_o worth_n of_o christ_n in_o come_v to_o give_v we_o ease_v and_o rest_n from_o it_o 1._o then_o i_o shall_v endeavour_v to_o show_v what_o the_o yoke_n and_o burden_n of_o the_o law_n be_v and_o than_o what_o be_v the_o burdensome_a condition_n of_o the_o soul_n that_o seek_v after_o righteousness_n by_o legal_a performance_n in_o the_o first_o place_n the_o law_n require_v of_o we_o such_o thing_n that_o we_o be_v not_o able_a possible_o to_o perform_v it_o require_v thing_n of_o we_o that_o we_o can_v do_v you_o will_v say_v that_o be_v a_o grievous_a burden_n indeed_o to_o be_v put_v upon_o that_o that_o we_o can_v do_v now_o the_o law_n do_v so_o only_o at_o the_o first_o that_o you_o may_v not_o think_v it_o hard_o it_o do_v not_o put_v you_o upon_o any_o thing_n that_o god_n do_v never_o enable_v you_o to_o do_v for_o that_o you_o will_v say_v be_v hard_a and_o how_o can_v god_n just_o do_v it_o but_o it_o put_v you_o upon_o that_o which_o now_o you_o can_v do_v but_o you_o have_v bring_v this_o can_v upon_o yourselves_o it_o will_v not_o have_v be_v any_o burden_n to_z adam_z as_o god_n make_v man_n first_o in_o innocency_n there_o the_o law_n can_v have_v be_v no_o burden_n but_o now_o as_o we_o be_v fall_v consider_v what_o our_o condition_n be_v now_o and_o it_o be_v a_o grievous_a burden_n for_o it_o put_v we_o upon_o that_o which_o we_o can_v do_v all_o the_o strength_n that_o we_o have_v shall_v it_o be_v put_v forth_o to_o the_o performance_n of_o the_o law_n yet_o we_o can_v not_o do_v it_o but_o we_o must_v not_o think_v that_o because_o we_o have_v lose_v our_o power_n therefore_o god_n law_n shall_v not_o go_v on_o the_o law_n have_v its_o course_n whether_o we_o have_v power_n or_o no_o power_n because_o god_n give_v it_o we_o and_o we_o have_v lose_v it_o this_o i_o take_v to_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o that_o scripture_n in_o act_n 15.10_o now_o therefore_o why_o tempt_v you_o god_n to_o put_v a_o yoke_n upon_o the_o neck_n of_o the_o disciple_n which_o neither_o our_o father_n nor_o we_o be_v able_a to_o bear_v the_o law_n be_v such_o a_o yoke_n which_o neither_o we_o nor_o our_o father_n be_v able_a to_o bear_v object_n i_o but_o it_o may_v be_v say_v this_o be_v mean_v evil_n that_o we_o do_v but_o lose_v all_o habit_n of_o all_o good_a whatsoever_o and_o that_o by_o one_o act_n now_o this_o be_v a_o thing_n above_o nature_n this_o be_v only_o by_o virtue_n of_o under_o the_o sentence_n of_o condemnation_n three_o the_o law_n put_v the_o sinner_n under_o a_o curse_n for_o so_o it_o be_v in_o the_o latter_a end_n of_o the_o 27._o of_o deu._n curse_a be_v ignorant_a heart_n that_o do_v not_o understand_v upon_o what_o term_n they_o stand_v with_o god_n all_o the_o child_n of_o man_n stand_v before_o god_n either_o under_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n or_o under_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n one_o of_o the_o two_o now_o those_o kind_n of_o man_n that_o reason_n after_o this_o manner_n sure_o they_o be_v not_o acquaint_v with_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n they_o be_v under_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n and_o now_o let_v they_o know_v that_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n admit_v of_o no_o such_o amends_o as_o they_o speak_v of_o but_o when_o once_o you_o have_v break_v the_o law_n all_o that_o ever_o you_o can_v do_v if_o you_o can_v live_v a_o thousand_o year_n never_o so_o strict_o or_o be_v willing_a to_o suffer_v never_o so_o while_o we_o have_v it_o and_o make_v we_o weary_a of_o our_o life_n and_o yet_o it_o be_v such_o a_o burden_n as_o we_o must_v certain_o carry_v about_o with_o we_o such_o a_o body_n as_o we_o know_v we_o shall_v never_o be_v free_v from_o whole_o while_o we_o live_v in_o this_o world_n it_o be_v true_a we_o may_v be_v free_v from_o it_o in_o a_o great_a measure_n christ_n say_v come_v to_o i_o to_o they_o to_o hear_v they_o but_o they_o that_o be_v deliver_v from_o they_o they_o know_v how_o to_o make_v use_n of_o they_o many_o man_n and_o woman_n will_v say_v when_o they_o hear_v of_o the_o terror_n of_o the_o law_n what_o do_v this_o but_o harden_v we_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o terror_n of_o the_o law_n do_v more_o harden_v we_o but_o if_o thou_o be_v acquaint_v with_o the_o gospel_n thou_o will_v be_v soften_v by_o hear_v of_o the_o terror_n of_o the_o law_n because_o thou_o will_v prize_v christ_n more_o and_o therefore_o believer_n must_v not_o look_v upon_o they_o as_o thing_n that_o no_o way_n concern_v they_o though_o they_o be_v not_o under_o they_o to_o be_v cast_v by_o they_o yet_o they_o do_v concern_v they_o near_o and_o therefore_o god_n will_v have_v law_n and_o the_o bondage_n under_o it_o and_o then_o the_o rest_n that_o be_v to_o be_v have_v in_o christ_n this_o will_v teach_v thou_o to_o be_v sensible_a of_o thy_o own_o wretchedness_n and_o what_o a_o condition_n thou_o be_v in_o natural_o and_o yet_o how_o to_o be_v confident_a in_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n this_o will_v teach_v thou_o how_o to_o fear_v in_o regard_n of_o what_o thou_o be_v in_o thyself_o and_o yet_o to_o rejoice_v in_o regard_n of_o what_o thou_o be_v in_o jesus_n christ_n in_o the_o rest_n thy_o soul_n have_v get_v in_o jesus_n christ_n many_o people_n do_v not_o know_v how_o to_o mingle_v these_o two_o together_o if_o so_o be_v they_o be_v humble_v for_o their_o sin_n than_o they_o be_v deject_v in_o their_o spirit_n they_o can_v tell_v how_o to_o exercise_v humiliation_n for_o their_o sin_n and_o faith_n and_o confidence_n in_o god_n grace_n together_o they_o think_v the_o humiliation_n for_o sin_n will_v hinder_v god_n grace_n and_o therefore_o they_o can_v endure_v to_o hear_v of_o such_o thing_n as_o tend_v to_o beat_v they_o down_o to_o humble_v they_o for_o their_o sin_n but_o they_o say_v they_o must_v believe_v altogether_o in_o god_n grace_n and_o the_o other_o will_v bring_v they_o to_o despair_v certain_o thou_o be_v not_o acquaint_v with_o the_o mystery_n of_o godliness_n if_o thou_o do_v not_o understand_v how_o these_o two_o may_v stand_v together_o to_o be_v deep_o humble_v for_o thy_o sin_n and_o yet_o at_o the_o same_o instant_n of_o time_n the_o soul_n to_o be_v raise_v with_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n both_o together_o it_o be_v true_a vice_n be_v opposite_a one_o to_o another_o but_o grace_n be_v never_o opposite_a one_o to_o another_o those_o that_o understand_v the_o mystery_n of_o godliness_n they_o know_v how_o to_o mingle_v these_o two_o together_o at_o one_o and_o the_o same_o time_n you_o know_v that_o the_o scripture_n say_v that_o godliness_n be_v a_o be_v to_o be_v under_o the_o law_n natural_o and_o what_o rest_n christ_n have_v bring_v unto_o we_o in_o deliver_v we_o from_o the_o law_n can_v tell_v how_o to_o rejoice_v in_o tremble_v and_o to_o believe_v in_o humiliation_n and_o there_o be_v no_o such_o way_n to_o make_v such_o a_o mixture_n of_o both_o as_o to_o understand_v what_o it_o be_v to_o be_v natural_o under_o the_o law_n and_o what_o the_o rest_n be_v that_o we_o have_v in_o christ_n i_o confess_v these_o thing_n will_v not_o perhaps_o come_v so_o full_a upon_o the_o heart_n of_o those_o that_o do_v not_o in_o some_o of_o life_n and_o salvation_n be_v above_o nature_n it_o be_v supernatural_a for_o that_o that_o i_o have_v open_v in_o the_o rest_n we_o have_v in_o christ_n from_o the_o law_n teach_v you_o that_o believer_n be_v not_o to_o stand_v or_o fall_v for_o their_o eternal_a estate_n by_o any_o work_n of_o the_o law_n if_o they_o perform_v any_o work_n of_o the_o law_n this_o do_v not_o bring_v they_o to_o eternal_a life_n if_o they_o break_v the_o law_n this_o do_v not_o cast_v they_o down_o unto_o death_n therefore_o the_o way_n of_o life_n and_o salvation_n be_v supernatural_a for_o nature_n
