fit_v for_o it_o and_o so_o be_v they_o do_v not_o put_v a_o bar_n in_o the_o way_n to_o hinder_v god_n by_o their_o evil_a desert_n and_o unfitedness_n hereunto_o i_o thus_o reply_n i_o will_v not_o contend_v about_o this_o order_n and_o method_n of_o god_n that_o first_o he_o will_v all_o man_n to_o make_v good_a use_n of_o the_o law_n and_o light_n of_o nature_n and_o then_o and_o not_o soon_o as_o man_n be_v fit_v for_o it_o and_o not_o before_o for_o this_o be_v a_o absurd_a limitation_n and_o it_o be_v to_o maintain_v one_o error_n by_o another_o the_o which_o i_o make_v thus_o appear_v 1_o they_o say_v as_o it_o be_v imply_v in_o the_o antecedent_n part_n of_o my_o major_n that_o christ_n die_v for_o all_o man_n and_o then_o they_o will_v add_v to_o it_o this_o that_o some_o of_o those_o man_n be_v not_o fit_a to_o know_v it_o or_o not_o fit_v to_o hear_v of_o it_o and_o receive_v it_o for_o this_o be_v imply_v in_o their_o limitation_n now_o be_v not_o this_o a_o absurd_a thing_n to_o be_v add_v as_o first_o to_o hold_v that_o christ_n die_v for_o all_o man_n and_o then_o to_o add_v to_o this_o that_o some_o of_o those_o man_n be_v not_o fit_a to_o hear_v of_o or_o else_o god_n and_o christ_n be_v prepare_v to_o cause_v the_o gospel_n to_o be_v preach_v to_o man_n so_o soon_o as_o they_o be_v fit_v for_o it_o or_o be_v fit_a to_o receive_v it_o 2_o christ_n foresee_v that_o many_o man_n in_o the_o world_n will_v never_o make_v a_o good_a use_n of_o the_o law_n and_o light_n of_o nature_n whereby_o to_o be_v fit_v to_o know_v of_o his_o death_n if_o sermon_n of_o christ_n death_n to_o be_v preach_v to_o they_o for_o christ_n his_o blood_n be_v of_o more_o value_n than_o a_o minister_n word_n and_o breath_n wherefore_o if_o christ_n die_v for_o all_o man_n then_o be_v all_o man_n fit_a
so_o silent_a as_o that_o he_o refuse_v to_o speak_v it_o be_v manifest_a that_o it_o be_v his_o will_n to_o be_v silent_a and_o to_o refuse_v to_o speak_v wherefore_o when_o christ_n say_v i_o pray_v not_o or_o i_o do_v not_o now_o in_o this_o prayer_n pray_v for_o the_o world_n hereby_o it_o be_v evident_a that_o at_o that_o time_n his_o will_n be_v not_o to_o pray_v for_o they_o but_o that_o his_o will_n be_v against_o it_o or_o his_o will_n be_v against_o pray_v for_o they_o at_o that_o time_n because_o he_o will_v silence_n at_o this_o time_n and_o refuse_v to_o pray_v for_o they_o in_o this_o prayer_n when_o a_o father_n have_v ten_o son_n say_v i_o give_v unto_o my_o nine_o elder_a son_n a_o hundred_o pound_n apiece_o but_o be_v silent_a say_n nothing_o of_o his_o ten_o or_o young_a son_n suppose_v it_o will_v not_o hence_o follow_v that_o the_o father_n mind_n and_o will_n be_v to_o deny_v he_o and_o to_o refuse_v to_o give_v he_o a_o hundred_o pound_n yet_o it_o be_v wicked_a man_n a_o riotous_a and_o prodigal_a son_n i_o give_v he_o nothing_o here_o it_o be_v manifest_a that_o the_o father_n will_n be_v to_o exclude_v the_o young_a son_n and_o to_o be_v unwilling_a at_o that_o time_n that_o he_o shall_v have_v a_o hundred_o pound_n so_o our_o saviour_n have_v many_o good_a and_o godly_a follower_n of_o he_o who_o be_v believer_n say_v i_o pray_v here_o it_o be_v clear_a that_o as_o he_o do_v not_o then_o pray_v for_o they_o so_o he_o will_v not_o at_o that_o time_n pray_v for_o they_o for_o he_o voluntary_o exclude_v they_o from_o his_o prayer_n when_o he_o pray_v for_o other_o such_o negative_a speech_n as_o this_o in_o john_n 17.9_o be_v voluntary_a denial_n refusal_n or_o exclusion_n not_o only_o signify_v a_o thing_n not_o do_v but_o also_o a_o will_v not_o to_o do_v it_o as_o you_o may_v see_v john_n 8.11_o 50._o and_o 13.18_o gal._n 2.2_o thus_o it_o be_v prove_v that_o as_o christ_n do_v not_o in_o that_o prayer_n pray_v for_o the_o world_n so_o it_o be_v not_o his_o will_n but_o against_o his_o will_n then_o to_o pray_v for_o they_o now_o hence_o it_o follow_v that_o if_o at_o any_o time_n christ_n do_v voluntary_o 4.4_o john_n 15.18_o 19_o and_o 17.9_o the_o god_n of_o this_o world_n have_v blind_v the_o mind_n etc._n etc._n and_o sometime_o it_o be_v take_v for_o the_o lesser_a number_n of_o man_n in_o the_o world_n as_o in_o act_n 17.6_o john_n 12.19_o these_o be_v they_o which_o have_v subvert_v the_o state_n of_o the_o world_n and_o behold_v the_o world_n go_v after_o he_o now_o since_o this_o word_n be_v so_o various_o use_v how_o can_v they_o be_v so_o confident_a as_o to_o aver_v that_o it_o must_v be_v take_v in_o the_o large_a sense_n my_o answer_n therefore_o be_v that_o as_o the_o word_n than_o to_o procure_v justification_n and_o to_o make_v application_n of_o christ_n death_n by_o free_v man_n from_o their_o sin_n and_o therefore_o this_o text_n be_v not_o to_o be_v understand_v of_o the_o world_n of_o all_o man_n but_o of_o believer_n only_o and_o of_o the_o world_n of_o believer_n for_o no_o man_n sin_n be_v take_v away_o but_o believer_n only_o see_v 2._o cor._n 5.19_o god_n be_v in_o christ_n and_o reconcile_v the_o world_n unto_o himself_o not_o impute_v their_o sin_n unto_o they_o here_o the_o world_n that_o be_v reconcile_v &_o
now_o i_o come_v to_o their_o similitude_n and_o first_o to_o that_o of_o a_o physician_n 1_o this_o simile_n of_o a_o physician_n be_v altogether_o impertinent_a to_o their_o purpose_n for_o by_o this_o simile_n it_o be_v clear_v that_o god_n in_o justice_n may_v damn_v judas_n once_o because_o he_o refuse_v to_o believe_v but_o it_o do_v not_o clear_a that_o which_o be_v in_o question_n which_o be_v that_o god_n in_o justice_n may_v damn_v judas_n twice_o for_o his_o sin_n of_o unbelief_n that_o be_v once_o in_o his_o surety_n christ_n and_o once_o more_o in_o his_o own_o person_n this_o be_v high_a injustice_n no_o similitude_n may_v or_o can_v make_v god_n to_o be_v unjust_a if_o the_o patient_a refuse_v to_o receive_v and_o apply_v the_o potion_n he_o be_v to_o bear_v the_o blame_n but_o it_o be_v not_o so_o in_o judas_n if_o he_o refuse_v to_o believe_v and_o apply_v christ_n because_o if_o christ_n die_v for_o judas_n absolute_o and_o without_o respect_n to_o his_o belief_n or_o unbelief_n as_o arminian_n say_v than_o he_o be_v not_o bind_v to_o believe_v in_o christ_n as_o a_o mean_n to_o free_v he_o from_o damnation_n for_o christ_n have_v already_o suffer_v his_o damnation_n for_o he_o before_o god_n the_o father_n require_v any_o faith_n in_o he_o when_o he_o die_v for_o he_o consider_v as_o a_o sinner_n or_o unbeliever_n so_o judas_n be_v not_o to_o be_v blame_v for_o not_o believe_v since_o christ_n in_o die_v for_o he_o and_o in_o his_o room_n require_v or_o respect_v no_o faith_n in_o he_o and_o it_o be_v too_o late_o for_o god_n the_o not_o because_o he_o receive_v and_o accept_v christ_n death_n for_o all_o man_n believer_n or_o not_o believer_n in_o what_o condition_n christ_n give_v himself_o for_o man_n in_o such_o condition_n god_n receive_v christ_n for_o man_n 1_o though_o a_o physician_n tender_v a_o potion_n to_o his_o patient_n so_o as_o he_o refuse_v to_o apply_v it_o he_o must_v die_v yet_o it_o be_v not_o so_o to_o be_v apply_v as_o if_o god_n tender_v christ_n upon_o the_o condition_n of_o faith_n so_o as_o if_o they_o refuse_v to_o believe_v they_o must_v be_v damn_v for_o it_o be_v absurd_a to_o think_v or_o say_v that_o after_o god_n have_v receive_v and_o accept_v of_o christ_n and_o his_o death_n for_o man_n without_o any_o condition_n at_o all_o be_v it_o faith_n or_o any_o other_o he_o shall_v afterward_o require_v a_o condition_n or_o tender_a christ_n upon_o a_o condition_n of_o faith_n god_n have_v receive_v christ_n death_n for_o man_n without_o condition_n he_o have_v no_o tender_a to_o make_v unto_o man_n now_o but_o to_o tender_v they_o justification_n glorification_n and_o freedom_n from_o condemnation_n this_o or_o nothing_o be_v to_o be_v tender_v for_o after_o god_n have_v punish_v and_o damn_v a_o man_n in_o christ_n it_o be_v most_o absurd_a to_o think_v he_o shall_v then_o require_v of_o he_o faith_n as_o a_o condition_n and_o mean_n to_o free_v he_o from_o damnation_n thus_o much_o for_o the_o simile_n of_o a_o physician_n 2_o as_o for_o the_o other_o simile_n of_o a_o king_n and_o the_o captive_n this_o be_v also_o impertinent_a for_o 1._o be_v it_o so_o that_o judas_n and_o other_o captive_n do_v despise_v christ_n ransom_n and_o faith_n the_o mean_n of_o it_o yet_o this_o will_v not_o clear_a god_n of_o injustice_n if_o he_o punish_v judas_n twice_o once_o in_o christ_n his_o surety_n and_o once_o again_o in_o his_o own_o person_n no_o simile_n can_v make_v god_n unjust_a or_o to_o punish_v one_o man_n or_o one_o sin_n twice_o god_n in_o justice_n may_v punish_v judas_n his_o despise_v once_o as_o in_o christ_n or_o in_o judas_n but_o not_o twice_o as_o in_o christ_n and_o in_o judas_n both_o 2._o this_o simile_n be_v unfit_a for_o the_o purpose_n and_o therefore_o to_o be_v reject_v if_o it_o be_v fit_v to_o our_o question_n it_o shall_v be_v thus_o frame_v a_o king_n have_v many_o subject_n in_o captivity_n to_o a_o foreign_a king_n pay_v their_o ransom_n by_o his_o son_n who_o be_v put_v into_o captivity_n for_o they_o and_o lie_v there_o in_o their_o room_n but_o they_o despise_v their_o liberty_n choose_v to_o live_v in_o captivity_n still_o wherefore_o the_o foreign_a king_n may_v keep_v both_o the_o king_n son_n and_o the_o captive_n also_o in_o prison_n and_o captivity_n can_v the_o foreign_a king_n do_v this_o injustice_n so_o much_o for_o their_o second_o similitude_n i_o can_v imagine_v what_o arminian_n shall_v say_v to_o evade_v these_o thing_n unless_o they_o will_v coin_v a_o new_a distinction_n and_o strange_a to_o christian_a ear_n and_o so_o make_v a_o hotchpotch_n of_o the_o work_n of_o redemption_n say_v that_o christ_n die_v for_o some_o of_o a_o man_n sin_n but_o not_o for_o all_o his_o sin_n as_o not_o for_o his_o final_a unbelief_n or_o new_a infidelity_n or_o infidelity_n unrepented_a of_o as_o they_o express_v it_o and_o then_o they_o think_v to_o evade_v all_o by_o this_o answer_n that_o god_n punish_v christ_n for_o all_o judas_n his_o sin_n except_v his_o infidelity_n and_o punish_v judas_n for_o his_o infidelity_n and_o so_o god_n punish_v no_o sin_n twice_o nor_o be_v he_o unjust_a but_o to_o this_o new_a distinction_n i_o thus_o reply_n 1_o it_o make_v christ_n to_o be_v but_o a_o partial_a saviour_n or_o a_o half_a saviour_n for_o by_o this_o distinction_n they_o say_v christ_n die_v for_o some_o or_o many_o of_o a_o man_n sin_n but_o not_o for_o all_o for_o not_o for_o unbelief_n 2._o it_o make_v christ_n to_o die_v for_o some_o of_o judas_n his_o sin_n and_o judas_n himself_o to_o die_v for_o other_o some_o of_o his_o sin_n 3._o it_o make_v judas_n and_o other_o wicked_a man_n and_o unbeliever_n to_o suffer_v hell_n torment_n for_o none_o of_o all_o their_o horrible_a and_o abominable_a sin_n commit_v in_o their_o life_n time_n but_o only_o for_o their_o final_a unbelief_n for_o they_o say_v christ_n die_v and_o suffer_v for_o all_o their_o other_o sin_n now_o to_o say_v that_o wicked_a man_n do_v not_o suffer_v in_o hell_n for_o their_o other_o horrible_a sin_n beside_o infidelity_n be_v not_o only_o absurd_a but_o manifest_o false_a as_o be_v to_o be_v see_v matth._n 25.41_o 42_o 43._o john_n 5.29_o rom._n 2.6_o 8_o 9_o judas_n 7._o revel_v 21.8_o where_o we_o see_v that_o wicked_a man_n suffer_v in_o hell_n for_o their_o unmercifulness_n contention_n unrighteousness_n fornication_n murder_n sorcery_n idolatry_n and_o lie_v so_o you_o see_v they_o can_v make_v no_o evasion_n but_o by_o coin_v of_o a_o new_a distinction_n which_o make_v a_o hotchpotch_n of_o the_o work_n of_o redemption_n and_o be_v not_o only_o absurd_a but_o also_o manifest_o false_a as_o be_v prove_v 2._o if_o christ_n die_v not_o for_o new_a infidelity_n than_o he_o die_v not_o for_o all_o man_n for_o many_o believe_v not_o after_o invitation_n by_o the_o gospel_n preach_v which_o they_o call_v new_a infidelity_n john_n 12.37_o so_o much_o for_o confutation_n of_o the_o arminian_n answer_n say_v to_o we_o that_o therefore_o god_n may_v just_o damn_v judas_n because_o he_o will_v not_o believe_v now_o their_o answer_n be_v confute_v our_o objection_n remain_v good_a namely_o that_o if_o christ_n die_v for_o all_o man_n than_o it_o follow_v that_o no_o man_n shall_v be_v damn_v but_o that_o judas_n and_o all_o man_n shall_v be_v save_v and_o so_o i_o come_v to_o the_o four_o and_o last_o thing_n propound_v to_o be_v handle_v which_o be_v a_o confutation_n of_o their_o distinction_n of_o impetration_n and_o application_n the_o distinction_n of_o impetration_n and_o application_n confute_v first_o we_o must_v know_v what_o arminian_o understand_v by_o these_o term_n by_o impetration_n they_o understand_v the_o death_n and_o passion_n of_o christ_n whereby_o he_o merit_v remission_n of_o sin_n and_o justification_n for_o all_o man_n by_o application_n they_o understand_v the_o fruit_n and_o benefit_n of_o christ_n death_n and_o passion_n which_o be_v as_o i_o conceive_v it_o must_v be_v the_o real_a and_o actual_a remission_n of_o sin_n and_o justification_n apply_v unto_o the_o faithful_a the_o former_a namely_o impetration_n be_v proper_a to_o god_n the_o son_n
to_o hear_v of_o it_o and_o so_o this_o limitation_n of_o fitness_n be_v frivolous_a furthermore_o those_o who_o christ_n die_v for_o those_o he_o love_v infinite_o and_o unspeakable_o john_n 3.16_o and_o 15.13_o now_o if_o it_o be_v true_a as_o arminian_n say_v that_o christ_n die_v for_o all_o man_n than_o he_o infinite_o and_o unspeakable_o love_v all_o man_n even_o those_o who_o abuse_v the_o general_a call_n the_o light_n of_o nature_n albeit_o he_o foresee_v they_o will_v live_v and_o die_v in_o in_o the_o abuse_n of_o it_o and_o be_v his_o love_n so_o hot_a and_o strong_a to_o those_o man_n as_o to_o pass_v by_o this_o abuse_n when_o he_o shed_v his_o heart_n blood_n for_o they_o and_o be_v it_o become_v so_o cold_a and_o weak_a to_o they_o afterward_o as_o to_o stick_v at_o it_o and_o not_o pass_v it_o by_o when_o he_o think_v of_o cause_v a_o sermon_n of_o his_o death_n to_o be_v preach_v to_o they_o whereby_o they_o may_v be_v the_o better_a for_o his_o death_n be_v christ_n love_n so_o hot_a as_o to_o require_v no_o fitness_n in_o they_o when_o he_o die_v for_o they_o and_o be_v it_o become_v so_o cold_a afterward_o as_o to_o stick_v at_o these_o man_n unfitness_n to_o hear_v a_o sermon_n of_o his_o death_n sure_o if_o nothing_o in_o these_o man_n can_v hinder_v christ_n to_o die_v for_o they_o then_o nothing_o in_o they_o can_v hinder_v a_o sermon_n of_o christ_n to_o be_v preach_v to_o they_o if_o there_o need_v no_o qualification_n in_o they_o to_o render_v they_o fit_v for_o christ_n to_o die_v for_o they_o then_o there_o need_v no_o qualification_n in_o they_o to_o fit_v they_o to_o hear_v a_o sermon_n of_o christ_n unless_o you_o suppose_v more_o virtue_n or_o dignity_n to_o be_v in_o a_o sermon_n of_o christ_n than_o be_v in_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n so_o you_o see_v this_o limitation_n of_o fitness_n be_v vain_a 3_o to_o say_v christ_n die_v for_o all_o man_n and_o then_o to_o add_v this_o unto_o it_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o have_v the_o gospel_n which_o be_v a_o necessary_a mean_n of_o obtain_v the_o end_n of_o christ_n death_n preach_v unto_o they_o unless_o they_o be_v fit_a for_o it_o or_o until_o they_o be_v fit_v to_o receive_v it_o be_v a_o very_a absurd_a addition_n and_o limitation_n as_o you_o have_v see_v so_o it_o be_v also_o as_o absurd_a to_o say_v god_n or_o christ_n be_v prepare_v and_o in_o a_o readiness_n to_o have_v the_o gospel_n preach_v so_o soon_o as_o man_n be_v fit_v for_o it_o for_o there_o be_v thousand_o of_o indian_n and_o other_o who_o live_v and_o die_v in_o the_o abuse_n of_o the_o law_n and_o light_n of_o nature_n and_o so_o be_v never_o fit_a for_o the_o gospel_n and_o who_o never_o hear_v the_o gospel_n now_o can_v it_o be_v true_o say_v that_o god_n or_o christ_n have_v prepare_v himself_o to_o use_v and_o apply_v mean_n unto_o such_o as_o never_o will_v be_v capable_a of_o the_o mean_n and_o unto_o such_o as_o he_o well_o know_v and_o fore-sees_a will_v never_o be_v capable_a of_o it_o do_v ever_o any_o wise_a man_n prepare_v himself_o to_o do_v any_o thing_n the_o which_o he_o fore-sees_a shall_v never_o be_v do_v and_o yet_o such_o a_o preparation_n arminian_n do_v ascribe_v unto_o the_o wise_a god_n will_v a_o physician_n prepare_v himself_o to_o give_v physic_n to_o a_o dead_a man_n or_o to_o one_o who_o he_o know_v will_v never_o be_v fit_a to_o take_v it_o moreover_o if_o this_o fitness_n be_v prerequired_n than_o thus_o i_o reason_n god_n not_o only_o fore-sees_a that_o many_o will_v never_o be_v fit_a for_o the_o gospel_n but_o also_o be_v resolve_v in_o himself_o that_o the_o gospel_n shall_v never_o be_v preach_v to_o they_o because_o he_o fore-sees_a they_o shall_v and_o will_v live_v and_o die_v unfit_a now_o can_v it_o be_v say_v that_o god_n be_v prepare_v to_o do_v that_o thing_n which_o he_o be_v resolve_v in_o himself_o shall_v never_o be_v do_v you_o may_v as_o well_o say_v god_n be_v prepare_v to_o save_v the_o reprobate_a angel_n and_o devil_n thus_o you_o see_v there_o be_v cause_n enough_o for_o i_o to_o reject_v this_o limitation_n and_o addition_n to_o my_o major_n wherefore_o my_o argument_n must_v stand_v as_o i_o frame_v it_o without_o this_o their_o addition_n and_o then_o it_o be_v strong_a and_o good_a to_o prove_v that_o christ_n die_v not_o for_o all_o man_n and_o it_o be_v unanswerable_a their_o answer_n be_v confute_v so_o far_o of_o my_o three_o argument_n argum._n iu._n if_o god_n the_o son_n die_v for_o the_o sin_n of_o all_o man_n then_o god_n the_o father_n will_v justify_v the_o person_n and_o pardon_v the_o sin_n of_o all_o man_n but_o god_n the_o father_n will_v not_o justify_v the_o person_n and_o pardon_v the_o sin_n of_o all_o man_n for_o if_o he_o shall_v than_o all_o man_n shall_v be_v save_v mark_v 16.16_o luke_n 13.3_o revel_v 21.8_o therefore_o god_n the_o son_n do_v not_o die_v for_o the_o sin_n of_o all_o man_n as_o for_o my_o major_n thus_o i_o prove_v it_o 1_o arminian_o say_v that_o by_o the_o word_n world_n john_n 3.16_o we_o be_v to_o understand_v all_o man_n in_o the_o world_n now_o if_o god_n the_o father_n so_o exceed_o love_v all_o man_n as_o to_o give_v his_o only_o beget_v son_n to_o die_v for_o they_o john_n 3.16_o than_o he_o can_v do_v no_o less_o than_o justify_v the_o person_n and_o pardon_v the_o sin_n of_o all_o man_n because_o 1._o he_o love_v all_o man_n and_o he_o give_v his_o son_n for_o none_o other_o end_n but_o for_o all_o man_n to_o obtain_v justification_n and_o pardon_v of_o sin_n now_o sure_o
