consideration_n or_o due_a regard_n for_o by_o this_o we_o shall_v not_o only_o know_v what_o be_v conceit_v and_o speak_v abroad_o of_o the_o king_n and_o his_o word_n but_o also_o consider_v of_o they_o &_o consult_v how_o to_o withstand_v those_o inconvenience_n which_o may_v grow_v follow_v and_o ensue_v thereof_o in_o posterity_n and_o this_o shall_v be_v the_o soon_o perform_v by_o the_o true_a understanding_n of_o the_o king_n meaning_n and_o the_o right_a exposition_n of_o his_o word_n object_v abiather_n first_o cler_v himself_o and_o then_o object_v then_o answer_v abiather_n my_o lord_n all_o i_o hope_v you_o judge_v of_o i_o as_o of_o a_o true_a subject_n to_o my_o lord_n king_n solomon_n and_o i_o adventure_v to_o stand_v for_o the_o perfect_a trial_n of_o my_o dutiful_a allegiance_n &_o fidelity_n in_o this_o respect_n against_o all_o man_n wherein_o i_o know_v howsoever_o it_o be_v imagine_v i_o may_v not_o be_v resemble_v to_o that_o abiather_n the_o priest_n who_o the_o beast_n 3_o he_o seem_v to_o define_v man_n felicity_n in_o eat_v drink_v and_o fleshly_a pleasure_n 4_o he_o prefer_v as_o it_o appear_v death_n before_o life_n and_o the_o dead_a before_o the_o live_n yea_o and_o he_o who_o be_v yet_o unborn_a before_o they_o both_o 5_o he_o be_v note_v to_o discourage_v man_n from_o the_o perfection_n of_o wisdom_n and_o justice_n which_o be_v two_o most_o excellent_a virtue_n in_o man_n 6_o he_o condemn_v the_o man_n that_o love_v quietness_n and_o peace_n better_o than_o trouble_n and_o vexation_n and_o therein_o contrari_v his_o own_o word_n else_o where_o deliver_v 7_o he_o be_v suppose_v to_o condemn_v and_o abandon_v woman_n sex_n the_o which_o the_o lord_n have_v frame_v and_o make_v meet_v and_o profitable_a for_o the_o man_n 8_o to_o cast_v into_o suspense_n the_o substance_n and_o be_v of_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n 10_o he_o deni_v plain_o the_o life_n and_o sense_n of_o man_n soul_n after_o death_n 11_o he_o judge_v a_o man_n so_o devoyde_a of_o reason_n and_o judgement_n that_o he_o know_v not_o what_o be_v good_a for_o himself_o in_o this_o life_n 12_o the_o king_n himself_o be_v a_o transgressor_n deem_v the_o like_a of_o all_o man_n condemn_v they_o of_o sin_n and_o unrighteousness_n 13_o he_o ascribe_v all_o that_o to_o time_n and_o chance_n the_o which_o we_o just_o attribute_v to_o the_o divine_a providence_n 14_o he_o encourage_v man_n to_o a_o prodigal_a waste_v out_o of_o their_o provision_n wealth_n and_o substance_n 15_o he_o have_v set_v no_o difference_n between_o the_o righteous_a and_o the_o wicked_a the_o holy_a and_o profane_a as_o touch_v their_o conclusion_n end_n and_o reward_n 16_o he_o hold_v that_o a_o man_n have_v no_o power_n of_o his_o own_o life_n when_o yet_o it_o be_v see_v they_o many_o man_n have_v power_n murder_n themselves_o as_o saul_n do_v 17_o he_o have_v entice_v young_a man_n to_o take_v their_o delight_n of_o youth_n and_o to_o follow_v after_o their_o own_o lust_n loe_o these_o and_z such_o like_a thing_n be_v object_v and_o be_v it_o indeed_o so_o say_a zadok_v howbeit_o 9.2_o zadoke_v answ_o to_o all_o the_o former_a objection_n 1._o touch_v the_o combination_n of_o the_o wise_a man_n with_o the_o fool_n eccles._n 2.14_o &_o 9.2_o i_o nothing_o doubt_v how_o to_o resolve_v those_o doubt_n and_o answer_v those_o objection_n to_o your_o content_n viz._n first_o it_o be_v object_v as_o you_o say_v that_o the_o king_n have_v combine_v the_o wiseman_n with_o the_o fool_n in_o the_o same_o condition_n &_o estimation_n of_o what_o word_n of_o the_o king_n shall_v that_o be_v gather_v as_o you_o suppose_v of_o these_o say_v abiather_n that_o speak_v both_o of_o the_o wiseman_n and_o of_o the_o fool_n say_v by_o and_o by_o i_o know_v that_o the_o same_o condition_n fall_v to_o they_o all_o and_o thereupon_o he_o resolve_v it_o befall_v unto_o i_o as_o it_o befall_v unto_o the_o fool_n wherefore_o then_o labour_n i_o to_o be_v more_o wise_a be_v this_o answer_v zadok_n the_o ground_n of_o that_o objection_n and_o will_v you_o so_o conclude_v of_o the_o king_n grave_a word_n alas_o the_o gross_a ignorance_n of_o vain_a take_v in_o hand_n without_o the_o will_n wisdom_n power_n and_o providence_n of_o god_n because_o thing_n be_v not_o place_v in_o the_o will_n and_o abilitle_o of_o man_n but_o as_o most_o meet_a remain_v for_o ever_o in_o the_o will_n and_o power_n of_o god_n who_o often_o give_v the_o same_o lot_n to_o the_o fool_n as_o he_o do_v to_o the_o wiseman_n of_o this_o world_n next_o that_o there_o be_v one_o and_o the_o like_a end_n as_o touch_v the_o body_n and_o the_o like_a condition_n in_o riches_n health_n poverty_n sickness_n and_o such_o adventure_n of_o this_o life_n both_o of_o the_o wise_a and_o unwise_a otherwise_o the_o k._n have_v say_v it_o and_o no_o man_n can_v deny_v it_o that_o there_o be_v more_o utility_n in_o wisdom_n then_o in_o folly_n as_o the_o light_n be_v more_o desire_a than_o the_o darkness_n and_o that_o the_o wiseman_n be_v prefer_v before_o the_o fool_n for_o the_o wiseman_n eye_n be_v in_o his_o head_n but_o the_o fool_n walk_v in_o darkness_n and_o yet_o here_o we_o may_v note_v that_o the_o king_n speak_v not_o of_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n spirit_n but_o of_o that_o humane_a wisdom_n belong_v to_o the_o reason_n of_o man_n which_o it_o in_o itself_o as_o now_o under_o sin_n be_v comparable_a to_o the_o vanity_n of_o a_o fool_n object_n 2_o second_o you_o object_v that_o the_o king_n have_v compare_v a_o man_n with_o a_o beast_n in_o the_o semblable_a condition_n but_o i_o pray_v sir_n from_z whence_o be_v that_o gather_v it_o be_v take_v say_v abiather_n out_o of_o those_o word_n which_o the_o k._n late_o ut_v viz._n i_o consider_v in_o my_o heart_n the_o state_n of_o the_o child_n of_o man_n 3.18.19_o eccles._n 3.18.19_o that_o god_n have_v purge_v they_o yet_o to_o see_v to_o their_z be_v in_o themselves_o beast_n body_n which_o be_v of_o the_o earth_n subject_a to_o corruption_n mutability_n misery_n and_o death_n as_o before_o it_o be_v say_v for_o a_o memory_n whereof_o the_o lord_n god_n make_v garment_n for_o adam_n of_o the_o skin_n of_o beast_n also_o as_o touch_v any_o foresight_n or_o knowledge_n either_o of_o the_o day_n of_o his_o death_n or_o of_o that_o which_o come_v to_o pass_v after_o he_o she_o which_o as_o say_v holy_a job_n who_o know_v among_o the_o child_n of_o man_n otherwise_o the_o king_n have_v say_v that_o the_o spirit_n of_o man_n go_v upward_o even_o to_o god_n that_o give_v it_o but_o the_o breath_n of_o a_o beast_n fall_v down_o into_o the_o earth_n again_o he_o have_v speak_v most_o profound_o of_o man_n true_a felicity_n and_o direct_v he_o the_o way_n to_o the_o same_o three_o object_n 3_o 2.4_o of_o man_n felicity_n eccles_n 2.4_o you_o say_v that_o the_o king_n define_v man_n felicit_fw-la in_o eat_v drink_v and_o carnal_a pleasure_n where_o be_v that_o definition_n find_v there_o quod_fw-la aabiather_n where_o the_o king_n have_v say_v there_o be_v no_o profit_n to_o a_o man_n but_o that_o he_o eat_v and_o drink_v and_o delight_v his_o soul_n with_o the_o profit_n of_o his_o labour_n and_o therefore_o say_v zadok_n do_v the_o king_n define_v the_o felicity_n of_o man_n in_o eat_v drink_v sport_v etc._n etc._n that_o be_v no_o perfect_a consequence_n &_o you_o utter_o mistake_v he_o for_o contrary_a to_o that_o beastly_a behaviour_n of_o carnal_a and_o voluptuous_a person_n he_o show_v the_o true_a use_n of_o the_o creature_n according_a to_o the_o divine_a ordination_n the_o which_o yet_o no_o man_n live_a can_v enjoy_v to_o profit_v without_o his_o especial_a grace_n &_o blessing_n be_v all_o that_o a_o man_n may_v expect_v or_o look_v for_o in_o his_o life_n for_o this_o be_v god_n gift_n as_o the_o k_o have_v often_o say_v howsoever_o a_o man_n by_o his_o own_o wisdom_n wit_n reason_n power_n &_o agility_n seem_v able_a either_o to_o effect_v or_o comprehend_v the_o same_o in_o time_n &_o place_n &_o therefore_o shall_v be_v use_n and_o esteem_v with_o thankfulness_n to_o god_n 4._o you_o say_v further_o objection_n 4_o 4.2.3_o the_o live_a &_o the_o dead_a cap._n 4.2.3_o that_o the_o king_n seem_v to_o prefer_v death_n before_o life_n &_o the_o dead_a before_o the_o live_a etc._n etc._n they_o both_o which_o have_v not_o yet_o be_v and_o this_o be_v very_o absurd_a for_o all_o man_n know_v &_o it_o can_v be_v deny_v the_o life_n be_v better_a they_o death_n for_o god_n have_v make_v life_n death_n life_n &_o death_n &_o death_n be_v the_o privation_n thereof_o &_o guard_v of_o sin_n yea_o himself_o have_v say_v at_o a_o another_o time_n that_o a_o live_a dog_n be_v better_a than_o a_o dead_a lion_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o excellency_n of_o life_n before_o death_n answer_n but_o the_o king_n say_v zadok_n have_v say_v it_o not_o simple_o or_o in_o that_o he_o absolute_o commend_v death_n or_o condemn_v life_n but_o by_o the_o way_n of_o a_o comparison_n namely_o 13._o the_o dead_a be_v free_v of_o the_o trouble_n of_o this_o life_n job._n 3_o 13._o in_o respect_n utter_v in_o your_o own_o hear_n be_v thou_o not_o just_a overmuch_o neither_o make_v thyself_o over_o wise_a 7.18_o eccles._n 7.18_o answer_v wherefore_o shall_v thou_o be_v desolate_a if_o you_o
