1._o peace_n in_o nature_n be_v the_o harmony_n that_o be_v between_o all_o the_o part_n of_o the_o world_n the_o union_n that_o be_v between_o the_o disagree_a element_n that_o be_v from_o god_n for_o without_o he_o the_o whole_a creation_n will_v present_o disband_v and_o return_v to_o its_o first_o chaos_n of_o confusion_n 2._o civil_a peace_n which_o be_v among_o the_o society_n of_o man_n that_o which_o be_v so_o amiable_a and_o lovely_a and_o which_o need_v no_o other_o foil_n to_o commend_v it_o and_o set_v off_o its_o lustre_n than_o the_o misery_n and_o cruelty_n of_o war_n this_o peace_n come_v from_o god_n likewise_o every_o rash_a hand_n be_v able_a to_o make_v a_o wound_n or_o to_o cast_v a_o firebrand_n but_o it_o be_v only_o the_o god_n of_o peace_n that_o be_v able_a to_o heal_v breach_n and_o to_o allay_v those_o storm_n that_o be_v in_o a_o nation_n you_o know_v those_o shower_n which_o render_v the_o earth_n fruitful_a descend_v from_o heaven_n from_o god_n so_o all_o the_o counsel_n of_o peace_n descend_v from_o above_o the_o fiery_a exaltation_n ascend_v from_o the_o earth_n counsel_n of_o war_n &_o disturbance_n proceed_v from_o the_o devilish_a heart_n of_o man_n or_o 3._o if_o you_o consider_v that_o rational_a peace_n which_o be_v in_o the_o spirit_n of_o man_n that_o be_v when_o the_o understand_a exercise_n a_o coercion_n and_o restraint_n over_o our_o licentious_a appetite_n when_o all_o our_o inferior_a faculty_n be_v under_o the_o empire_n and_o conduct_n of_o reason_n this_o proceed_v also_o from_o god_n for_o since_o the_o fall_n there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o tumult_n many_o riot_n and_o disorder_n in_o the_o soul_n of_o a_o man_n reason_n hate_v a_o bad_a guide_n and_o our_o appetite_n those_o be_v evil_a of_o god_n to_o make_v peace_n with_o we_o without_o satisfaction_n than_o be_v he_o please_v to_o pay_v our_o ransom_n out_o of_o his_o own_o treasury_n and_o redeem_v we_o by_o the_o blood_n of_o god_n of_o peace_n for_o god_n as_o he_o be_v our_o judge_n dispense_v to_o sinner_n nothing_o but_o revenge_n there_o be_v nothing_o to_o be_v expect_v but_o the_o curse_n of_o his_o law_n the_o execution_n of_o that_o sentence_n of_o death_n from_o he_o for_o although_o the_o world_n despise_v holiness_n as_o a_o base_a and_o contemptible_a thing_n they_o have_v rather_o be_v ungracious_a than_o inglorious_a in_o the_o eye_n of_o man_n and_o upon_o this_o account_n they_o be_v afraid_a to_o be_v holy_a lest_o they_o shall_v be_v the_o public_a scorn_n and_o contempt_n of_o the_o place_n wherein_o they_o live_v although_o holiness_n be_v of_o so_o low_a a_o price_n in_o the_o world_n yet_o in_o heaven_n next_o to_o god_n christ_n and_o the_o spirit_n holiness_n be_v the_o yet_o they_o be_v lest_o in_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n 4._o though_o god_n can_v by_o his_o infinite_a power_n perfect_a grace_n and_o bring_v man_n to_o heaven_n without_o the_o use_n of_o mean_n especial_o every_o faithful_a minister_n endeavour_n to_o do_v while_o he_o be_v among_o his_o people_n 1._o their_o conversion_n and_o sanctification_n 2._o their_o building_n and_o edification_n 3._o their_o protection_n and_o preservation_n 4._o their_o comfort_n and_o consolation_n first_o their_o conversion_n and_o turn_n to_o god_n this_o be_v that_o a_o faithful_a minister_n heart_n be_v set_v upon_o that_o he_o may_v convert_v poor_a soul_n that_o be_v in_o a_o sinful_a state_n that_o he_o may_v turn_v poor_a soul_n to_o god_n that_o by_o often_o preach_v and_o pray_v and_o counsel_n he_o may_v bring_v they_o into_o a_o state_n of_o salvation_n rom._n 10.1_o the_o apostle_n there_o speak_v of_o the_o roman_n that_o they_o be_v the_o people_n of_o god_n in_o profession_n ah_o but_o this_o be_v not_o enough_o fain_o he_o will_v that_o they_o shall_v be_v the_o people_n of_o god-in_a truth_n that_o be_v the_o hearty_a desire_n of_o every_o faithful_a minister_n not_o only_o to_o bring_v his_o people_n to_o the_o outward_a profession_n of_o godliness_n but_o to_o the_o work_n and_o power_n of_o it_o in_o their_o heart_n not_o only_o to_o have_v the_o name_n of_o christian_a but_o christianity_n itself_o and_o this_o be_v the_o end_n of_o all_o his_o study_v to_o get_v they_o to_o god_n by_o little_a and_o little_a till_o christ_n be_v form_v in_o they_o gal._n 4.11_o my_o little_a child_n say_v the_o apostle_n etc._n etc._n s._n paul_n travel_v in_o birth_n with_o the_o galathian_o from_o a_o state_n of_o nature_n to_o a_o state_n of_o grace_n he_o will_v get_v grace_n wrought_v in_o their_o heart_n he_o will_v get_v they_o ingraff_v into_o christ_n and_o this_o be_v the_o end_n of_o his_o commend_v they_o to_o god_n which_o he_o will_v fain_o have_v do_v if_o he_o may_v have_v be_v suffer_v to_o preach_v to_o they_o this_o be_v the_o language_n of_o a_o minister_n heart_n lord_n lord_n thou_o know_v that_o it_o be_v the_o desire_n of_o my_o soul_n build_v up_o in_o their_o most_o holy_a faith_n where_o there_o be_v the_o most_o eminent_a saint_n yet_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n lack_v the_o apostle_n give_v great_a commendation_n of_o the_o thessalonans_fw-la 1_o thess_n 3.10_o they_o be_v a_o famous_a church_n and_o there_o be_v a_o great_a many_o eminent_a christian_n yet_o there_o be_v something_o lack_v in_o their_o faith_n and_o in_o their_o knowledge_n christ_n speak_v to_o one_o of_o the_o most_o eminent_a apostle_n oh_o thou_o of_o little_a faith_n though_o the_o foundation-stone_n be_v lay_v yet_o there_o be_v a_o superstructure_n behind_o and_o this_o be_v the_o work_n of_o christ_n the_o building_n they_o up_o eph._n 4.12_o this_o be_v the_o end_n of_o every_o faithful_a minister_n to_o make_v his_o people_n fit_a for_o heaven_n he_o will_v be_v feed_v of_o they_o that_o they_o may_v grow_v to_o the_o full_a measure_n of_o the_o stature_n of_o christ_n and_o therefore_o every_o godly_a minister_n desire_v the_o whole_a light_n of_o this_o text_n in_o these_o six_o or_o seven_o proposition_n pro._n 1._o first_o jesus_n christ_n take_v notice_n of_o all_o the_o work_n and_o trouble_v and_o loss_n that_o we_o endure_v for_o he_o there_o can_v be_v a_o godly_a word_n speak_v but_o the_o lord_n hear_v it_o takes_z notice_n of_o it_o not_o a_o day_n of_o humiliation_n not_o a_o tear_n not_o a_o prayer_n to_o recompense_v it_o now_o than_o if_o god_n take_v notice_n of_o what_o we_o do_v and_o suffer_v for_o his_o name_n then_o either_o we_o must_v say_v he_o have_v not_o good_a enough_o or_o not_o time_n enough_o to_o bestow_v that_o good_a upon_o we_o or_o not_o faithfulness_n enough_o to_o perform_v his_o promise_n before_o we_o can_v be_v move_v from_o his_o service_n pro._n 2._o second_o
