quiet_a the_o heart_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n that_o be_v afflict_v in_o respect_n of_o any_o calamity_n befall_v their_o child_n you_o see_v what_o a_o hand_n of_o god_n be_v against_o the_o very_a child_n of_o aaron_n a_o further_a note_n be_v this_o obser_n that_o god_n judgement_n we_o see_v sometime_o though_o the_o effect_n of_o they_o be_v visible_a yet_o they_o come_v in_o a_o invisible_a way_n for_o you_o shall_v find_v if_o you_o read_v on_o in_o this_o story_n that_o they_o be_v smite_v with_o fire_n from_o heaven_n but_o it_o do_v not_o appear_v what_o fire_n for_o it_o do_v not_o so_o much_o as_o consume_v their_o clothes_n nor_o their_o body_n but_o go_v through_o and_o strike_v they_o dead_a and_o no_o body_n can_v tell_v how_o god_n judgement_n do_v come_v in_o a_o way_n that_o be_v invisible_a if_o it_o have_v be_v in_o a_o visible_a flame_n of_o fire_n all_o will_v have_v see_v it_o and_o it_o will_v have_v burn_v their_o clothes_n or_o their_o body_n but_o you_o shall_v find_v in_o the_o 5_o verse_n that_o they_o be_v carry_v away_o from_o the_o sanctuary_n in_o their_o cleath_n they_o be_v not_o burn_v another_o note_n be_v this_o obser_n that_o though_o the_o life_n of_o man_n be_v dear_a and_o precious_a to_o god_n yet_o they_o be_v not_o so_o precious_a as_o his_o glory_n the_o glory_n of_o his_o name_n be_v a_o thousand_o thousand_o time_n more_o dear_a unto_o god_n then_o the_o life_n of_o thousand_o thousand_o of_o people_n the_o life_n of_o nadab_n and_o abihu_n must_v go_v that_o god_n may_v be_v sanctify_v if_o it_o come_v so_o in_o the_o way_n as_o i_o may_v so_o say_v he_o live_v of_o man_n and_o the_o sanctify_a of_o god_n name_n the_o glory_n of_o god_n must_v pass_v on_o and_o mast_n have_v its_o course_n let_v the_o life_n of_o man_n go_v which_o way_n they_o will_n we_o think_v much_o to_o have_v the_o life_n of_o man_n take_v away_o but_o if_o we_o know_v 〈◊〉_d glory_n of_o god_n mean_v and_o what_o infinite_a reason_n shall_v have_v gather_v god_n mind_n by_o consequence_n and_o therefore_o by_o the_o way_n i_o only_o note_v that_o we_o must_v not_o think_v to_o urge_v upon_o man_n in_o all_o thing_n strict_a command_n in_o very_a word_n but_o if_o it_o be_v command_v so_o as_o we_o may_v draw_v it_o by_o any_o consequence_n it_o be_v a_o command_n as_o now_o here_o for_o the_o negative_a they_o have_v not_o a_o negative_a prohibition_n in_o word_n yet_o they_o have_v it_o by_o consequence_n so_o for_o the_o affirmative_a though_o we_o have_v not_o the_o affirmative_a in_o express_a word_n yet_o if_o we_o may_v have_v it_o by_o consequence_n it_o be_v a_o affirmative_a as_o well_o as_o the_o negative_a when_o we_o have_v it_o by_o consequence_n but_o now_o the_o note_n of_o observation_n be_v that_o the_o near_a any_o come_v to_o god_n if_o they_o sin_n against_o he_o they_o must_v not_o expect_v to_o be_v spare_v do_v not_o think_v that_o god_n will_v spare_v you_o the_o more_o because_o you_o be_v professor_n of_o religion_n or_o because_o you_o do_v often_o worship_v he_o i_o suppose_v you_o that_o be_v acquaint_v with_o scripture_n know_v that_o place_n in_o amos_n 3._o 2._o you_o only_o have_v i_o know_v of_o all_o the_o family_n of_o the_o earth_n therefore_o i_o will_v punish_v you_o for_o all_o your_o iniquity_n another_o note_n be_v this_o obser_n that_o when_o a_o in_o sanctify_a god_n name_n in_o holy_a duty_n as_o i_o ought_v to_o be_v o_o be_v humble_v for_o this_o for_o all_o the_o uncleannesie_n of_o your_o heart_n in_o the_o performance_n of_o duty_n in_o exod_a 27_o 4_o 5._o you_o read_v that_o at_o the_o altar_n where_o the_o sacrifice_n we●e_v to_o be_v offer_v the_o lord_n require_v that_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o grate_n make_v thou_o shall_v make_v for_o it_o mean_v the_o altar_n a_o grate_n of_o network_n of_o brass_n and_o upon_o the_o net_n shall_v thou_o make_v four_o brazen_a ring_n in_o the_o four_o corner_n thereof_o and_o thou_o shall_v put_v it_o under_o the_o compass_n of_o the_o altar_n beneath_o that_o the_o net_n may_v be_v even_o to_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o altar_n there_o be_v as_o it_o be_v a_o grate_n for_o the_o service_n when_o we_o come_v to_o offer_v and_o tender_v they_o up_o to_o god_n so_o that_o we_o have_v cause_n i_o say_v to_o be_v humble_v for_o holy_a offering_n there_o be_v many_o godly_a people_n that_o through_o god_n mercy_n be_v able_a to_o keep_v from_o gross_a sin_n they_o do_v not_o find_v it_o any_o great_a matter_n to_o keep_v from_o company_n swear_v drink_v uncleanness_n lie_v or_o wrong_v of_o other_o and_o such_o kind_n of_o sin_n as_o those_o be_v so_o that_o they_o see_v not_o such_o need_n of_o humiliation_n in_o this_o regard_n unless_o it_o be_v for_o that_o their_o nature_n be_v as_o corrupt_v as_o any_o though_o they_o break_v not_o forth_o into_o those_o actual_a gross_a sin_n but_o the_o main_a work_n of_o the_o humiliation_n of_o those_o that_o be_v godly_a it_o be_v to_o be_v humble_v for_o their_o thought_n for_o the_o mispending_a of_o time_n and_o for_o not_o sanctify_v of_o god_n name_n in_o holy_a dnty_n those_o be_v the_o main_a thing_n that_o be_v the_o subject_n of_o the_o humiliation_n of_o the_o saint_n beside_o the_o body_n of_o sin_n and_o death_n that_o they_o carry_v about_o with_o they_o and_o it_o will_v be_v a_o good_a sign_n that_o thy_o heart_n have_v some_o tenderness_n in_o it_o when_o thou_o make_v these_o to_o be_v the_o matter_n of_o thy_o humiliation_n carnal_a people_n little_a be_v trouble_v for_o these_o if_o they_o fall_v into_o such_o sin_n as_o their_o conscience_n do_v fly_v in_o their_o face_n than_o they_o be_v trouble_v and_o humble_v but_o for_o such_o thing_n as_o these_o be_v they_o be_v seldom_o humble_v to_o be_v humble_v for_o thy_o holy_a offering_n be_v a_o good_a sign_n of_o a_o gracious_a heart_n we_o read_v of_o the_o cherubim_n that_o they_o have_v six_o wing_n and_o with_o two_o of_o their_o wing_n the_o text_n say_v they_o cover_v their_o face_n so_o my_o brethren_n we_o have_v need_n have_v wing_n as_o it_o be_v to_o cover_v our_o best_a duty_n they_o have_v wing_n and_o with_o two_o they_o cover_v their_o leg_n and_o with_o two_o their_o face_n we_o have_v need_v not_o only_o of_o a_o cover_n for_o our_o low_a part_n and_o meanner_n duty_n but_o a_o cover_n of_o our_o holy_a duty_n to_o cover_v our_o face_n our_o best_a duty_n of_o all_o the_o most_o heavenly_a duty_n we_o perform_v have_v need_n be_v purge_v by_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n in_o levit._n 16._o 14._o 16._o we_o read_v of_o their_o holy_a thing_n that_o there_o be_v need_n of_o purge_v of_o they_o by_o blood_n and_o so_o it_o shall_v be_v in_o our_o holy_a duty_n let_v we_o be_v humble_v for_o our_o best_a performance_n that_o ever_o we_o perform_v in_o our_o life_n the_o best_a have_v need_n be_v so_o but_o then_o as_o for_o other_o that_o have_v make_v little_a or_o no_o conscience_n of_o sanctify_v of_o god_n name_n how_o have_v they_o need_v be_v humble_v thou_o have_v something_o more_o to_o repent_v of_o then_o thou_o think_v of_o for_o the_o truth_n be_v those_o that_o have_v not_o make_v conscience_n of_o sanctify_v of_o god_n name_n in_o holy_a duty_n they_o never_o in_o all_o their_o life_n do_v any_o service_n for_o the_o honour_n of_o god_n thou_o have_v live_v perhaps_o 30._o or_o 40._o it_o may_v be_v 60._o year_n or_o more_o and_o do_v never_o yet_o honour_n god_n in_o any_o one_o thing_n that_o ever_o thou_o do_v in_o all_o thy_o life_n you_o will_v say_v god_n forbid_v have_v not_o i_o pray_v and_o hear_v the_o word_n much_o and_o receive_v the_o communion_n often_o and_o yet_o have_v i_o never_o honour_v god_n if_o thou_o have_v not_o be_v acquaint_v with_o this_o mystery_n of_o godliness_n in_o sanctify_v his_o name_n in_o these_o thing_n this_o be_v say_v from_o god_n to_o thou_o this_o morning_n that_o thou_o have_v never_o do_v any_o one_o action_n to_o the_o honour_n of_o god_n thou_o have_v need_v begin_v present_o for_o thy_o time_n be_v not_o long_o and_o will_v thou_o go_v out_o of_o this_o world_n and_o the_o name_n of_o god_n never_o to_o be_v honour_v by_o thou_o yea_o and_o further_o thou_o have_v lose_v all_o thy_o duty_n all_o the_o time_n have_v be_v lose_v that_o thou_o have_v be_v in_o performance_n of_o duty_n now_o it_o be_v a_o ill_a thing_n to_o idle_a away_o time_n in_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n when_o a_o man_n have_v a_o opportunity_n for_o to_o gain_v in_o the_o world_n if_o so_o be_v he_o lose_v his_o time_n and_o neglect_v it_o we_o account_v it_o a_o very_a sad_a thing_n to_o he_o but_o now_o to_o lose_v our_o trade_a time_n for_o heaven_n for_o the_o time_n of_o the_o worship_v of_o god_n be_v our_o trade_a time_n for_o heaven_n that_o be_v sad_a indeed_o and_o yet_o thou_o that_o make_v not_o conscience_n of_o sanctify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o holy_a duty_n all_o the_o time_n thou_o have_v spend_v be_v lose_v and_o yet_o further_o you_o that_o have_v be_v false_a in_o the_o performance_n of_o duty_n and_o hypocrite_n not_o only_o all_o your_o pain_n and_o labour_n be_v quite_o lose_v for_o if_o that_o be_v all_o it_o may_v be_v well_o with_o you_o but_o you_o have_v aggravate_v your_o sin_n by_o your_o holy_a duty_n those_o duty_n that_o other_o have_v enjoy_v communion_n with_o god_n in_o and_o further_v their_o eternal_a life_n by_o thou_o have_v aggravate_v thy_o sin_n by_o they_o yet_o it_o be_v thy_o duty_n to_o do_v they_o but_o i_o say_v by_o not_o sanctify_v of_o god_n name_n thou_o have_v aggravate_v thy_o sin_n so_o much_o the_o more_o as_o those_o that_o be_v godly_a they_o work_v out_o their_o salvation_n even_o in_o their_o natural_a action_n they_o sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o eat_v and_o drink_v and_o follow_v their_o business_n they_o perform_v those_o action_n in_o such_o a_o holy_a manner_n as_o they_o honour_v god_n in_o they_o and_o further_o their_o eternal_a peace_n but_o as_o they_o in_o their_o natural_a and_o civil_a action_n work_v out_o their_o salvation_n so_o thou_o in_o the_o very_a religious_a action_n do_v work_v out_o thy_o damnation_n certain_o wicked_a man_n that_o be_v not_o acquaint_v with_o this_o work_n of_o godliness_n to_o sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o holy_a duty_n they_o work_v out_o their_o damnation_n even_o in_o the_o performance_n of_o they_o you_o will_v say_v then_o they_o have_v better_a not_o do_v they_o yes_o they_o be_v bind_v to_o do_v they_o
