without_o any_o suspicion_n of_o subordination_n from_o christianity_n confess_v and_o therefore_o the_o ground_n on_o which_o true_a religion_n state_n all_o thing_n must_v needs_o be_v to_o morality_n that_o be_v not_o sullen_a and_o prejudice_v the_o most_o acceptable_a for_o sage_a ethic_n guide_v by_o christ_n indeed_o as_o cyrus_n by_o god_n though_o they_o know_v he_o not_o acknowledge_v this_o conclusion_n of_o the_o matter_n that_o there_o must_v be_v some_o high_a end_n of_o man_n than_o the_o body_n and_o that_o all_o his_o condition_n must_v be_v resign_v to_o that_o and_o hereupon_o wade_v as_o far_o as_o they_o can_v into_o those_o deep_a doctrine_n of_o the_o immortality_n of_o the_o soul_n a_o judgement_n a_o future_a state_n beside_o that_o which_o be_v much_o opener_n to_o they_o the_o acknowledgement_n of_o the_o first_o be_v god_n now_o he_o that_o upon_o these_o ground_n die_v to_o his_o flesh_n to_o live_v in_o his_o soul_n be_v not_o far_o from_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o christ_n which_o teach_v a_o man_n to_o deny_v himself_o and_o sow_v his_o present_a life_n to_o let_v it_o die_v as_o a_o grain_n of_o wheat_n which_o except_o it_o die_v abide_v alone_o that_o be_v can_v never_o be_v any_o more_o than_o it_o be_v but_o lose_v itself_o at_o last_o whilst_o that_o which_o submit_v itself_o to_o a_o short_a death_n in_o expectation_n of_o a_o better_a resurrection_n propagate_v itself_o to_o eternity_n the_o assurance_n of_o everlasting_a life_n at_o the_o end_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n that_o no_o imaginable_a thing_n either_o height_n or_o depth_n life_n or_o death_n what_o be_v present_a or_o to_o come_v shall_v separate_v from_o that_o love_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n which_o make_v more_o than_o a_o conqueror_n in_o all_o be_v true_a ground_n of_o the_o happiness_n of_o man_n and_o only_o sufficient_a herein_o all_o these_o christianity_n have_v the_o honour_n to_o reveal_v and_o yet_o morality_n have_v so_o great_a need_n of_o to_o imp_n itself_o with_o that_o if_o it_o be_v itself_o alone_o it_o must_v needs_o adore_v this_o revelation_n however_o as_o it_o be_v blend_v in_o man_n with_o corruption_n of_o nature_n and_o plant_v among_o those_o root_n of_o bitterness_n that_o spring_n up_o and_o defile_v it_o it_o may_v profess_v a_o enmity_n yet_o certain_o as_o those_o heathen_a prince_n pay_v a_o reverence_n to_o that_o god_n that_o have_v foretell_v their_o success_n by_o his_o prophet_n so_o it_o be_v impossible_a but_o all_o wise_a use_n of_o reason_n must_v needs_o say_v of_o the_o doctrine_n of_o christ_n there_o be_v a_o divine_a thing_n in_o it_o see_v it_o do_v not_o only_o establish_v the_o same_o rule_n of_o life_n with_o that_o reason_n but_o advance_v the_o encouragement_n of_o they_o to_o the_o very_a heaven_n chap._n xii_o of_o the_o much_o high_a elevation_n of_o reason_n into_o christianity_n receive_v from_o the_o improvement_n of_o innate_a and_o reveal_v principle_n concern_v judgement_n hitherto_o we_o have_v from_o evidence_n of_o sense_n state_v thing_n as_o if_o man_n find_v they_o in_o a_o posture_n general_o adverse_a to_o he_o be_v by_o his_o own_o wisdom_n and_o virtue_n to_o make_v the_o best_a of_o himself_o and_o to_o rise_v by_o it_o as_o much_o above_o the_o condition_n of_o the_o creature_n below_o he_o as_o his_o understanding_n exceed_v they_o and_o discourse_v thus_o we_o have_v fathom_v the_o excellency_n of_o christian_a religion_n without_o which_o morality_n sink_v very_o low_a but_o we_o come_v now_o into_o a_o debate_n upon_o those_o principle_n ingraff_v in_o man_n heart_n heighten_v by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n even_o as_o the_o sensitive_a soul_n be_v elevate_v by_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o rational_a or_o as_o the_o reason_n be_v advance_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n inhabit_v it_o viz._n that_o there_o be_v a_o god_n a_o eternal_a condition_n that_o all_o calamity_n upon_o humane_a nature_n be_v from_o god_n and_o his_o justice_n for_o sin_n and_o who_o that_o be_v wise_a will_v leave_v so_o strong_a a_o sense_n as_o his_o soul_n have_v of_o these_o thing_n unsatisfied_a unanswered_a or_o why_o shall_v a_o man_n be_v true_o deal_v with_o by_o his_o eye_n and_o ear_n his_o taste_n and_o touch_v and_o that_o common_a sense_n that_o wield_v they_o and_o deceive_v by_o that_o inward_a intelligence_n his_o mind_n why_o shall_v it_o be_v true_a there_o be_v war_n plague_n etc._n etc._n and_o that_o these_o be_v grievous_a and_o destructive_a and_o not_o be_v true_a that_o god_n punish_v by_o they_o sense_n be_v sure_a of_o the_o one_o innate_a reason_n of_o the_o other_o the_o report_n of_o which_o be_v as_o confident_a and_o earnest_a and_o if_o heed_v most_o prevail_a and_o effective_a for_o as_o the_o universality_n of_o man_n believe_v sense_n about_o its_o own_o object_n so_o do_v they_o acknowledge_v these_o principle_n even_o against_o themselves_o when_o in_o their_o evil_a action_n they_o wander_v from_o they_o if_o evil_a practice_n be_v take_v for_o a_o argument_n
