lord_n bacon_n descant_v upon_o the_o fall_n of_o man_n express_v it_o thus_o that_o man_n make_v a_o total_a defection_n from_o god_n presume_v to_o imagine_v that_o the_o commandment_n and_o incapacitate_v to_o capitulate_v with_o god_n about_o it_o for_o the_o life_n of_o a_o man_n attaint_v as_o christ_n be_v the_o first_o moment_n of_o his_o birth_n be_v forfeit_v to_o the_o law_n and_o therefore_o after_o that_o he_o can_v not_o have_v be_v at_o liberty_n to_o treat_v with_o god_n concern_v that_o law_n and_o thereupon_o he_o will_v not_o become_v charge_v with_o this_o law_n superabundancy_n may_v not_o run_v in_o waste_n god_n do_v declare_v that_o for_o this_o man_z shall_v have_v eternal_a life_n absolute_a as_o christ_n himself_o have_v it_o and_o hence_o eternal_a life_n be_v call_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n through_o our_o lord_n and_o saviour_n jesus_n christ_n over_o and_o above_o our_o redemption_n so_o that_o now_o by_o this_o covenant_n of_o eternal_a life_n we_o be_v not_o only_o ransom_v from_o that_o law_n under_o which_o we_o fall_v in_o adam_n but_o be_v deliver_v over_o into_o a_o state_n and_o title_n which_o we_o never_o have_v before_o the_o fall_n viz._n that_o absolute_a and_o indefeasible_a estate_n of_o eternal_a life_n in_o which_o christ_n be_v install_v by_o his_o resurrection_n from_o the_o dead_a and_o this_o redemption_n from_o one_o law_n and_o deliverance_n over_o into_o another_o be_v both_o do_v at_o the_o same_o instant_n without_o any_o interval_n of_o time_n pass_v between_o they_o as_o in_o conveyance_n among_o man_n the_o title_n ve_v and_o deve_v from_o one_o to_o another_o by_o one_o and_o the_o same_o act._n and_o hence_o this_o covenant_n be_v not_o call_v the_o covenant_n of_o redemption_n but_o the_o covenant_n of_o eternal_a life_n as_o the_o most_o worthy_a title_n and_o therefore_o he_o that_o take_v any_o thing_n by_o this_o covenant_n must_v take_v eternal_a life_n or_o nothing_o a_o believer_n be_v never_o speak_v of_o with_o a_o less_o addition_n than_o eternal_a life_n he_o that_o believe_v on_o the_o son_n of_o god_n have_v everlasting_a life_n and_o thus_o it_o be_v in_o christ_n seem_v very_o peculiar_a and_o yet_o we_o shall_v find_v even_o this_o also_o to_o be_v most_o suitable_a to_o the_o common_a use_n of_o seal_n among_o men._n we_o cause_v our_o seal_n to_o be_v impress_v with_o the_o most_o memorable_a ensign_n of_o honour_n that_o can_v be_v assign_v to_o our_o family_n whereby_o they_o may_v be_v remember_v every_o time_n the_o deed_n be_v show_v and_o among_o these_o we_o esteem_v those_o most_o honourable_a which_o be_v gain_v in_o the_o field_n with_o the_o loss_n or_o hazard_n of_o our_o life_n why_o then_o here_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n throw_v down_o from_o heaven_n in_o the_o form_n of_o a_o man_n as_o a_o champion_n against_o death_n and_o hell_n slay_v in_o the_o open_a field_n before_o the_o face_n of_o man_n and_o angel_n in_o the_o quarrel_n and_o defence_n of_o his_o friend_n and_o after_o that_o display_v himself_o again_o with_o all_o his_o wound_n about_o he_o reach_v hither_o thy_o finger_n and_o behold_v my_o hand_n and_o reach_v hither_o thy_o hand_n and_o thrust_v it_o into_o my_o side_n now_o first_o i_o challenge_v the_o hero_n to_o show_v such_o scar_n of_o honour_n as_o these_o and_o then_o i_o part_n of_o this_o as_o well_o as_o other_o covenant_n the_o seal_v be_v the_o great_a solemnity_n this_o covenant_n then_o be_v seal_v by_o god_n himself_o upon_o this_o globe_n of_o ground_n i_o
