against_o sin_n whereof_o i_o entreat_v the_o strong_a and_o most_o forceable_a to_o the_o common_a sort_n of_o man_n be_v the_o consideration_n of_o punishment_n prepare_v by_o god_n for_o rebellious_a sinner_n and_o transgressor_n of_o his_o commandment_n wherefore_o he_o use_v this_o consideration_n often_o as_o may_v appear_v by_o all_o the_o prophet_n who_o do_v almost_o nothing_o natural_a love_n which_o we_o bear_v towards_o ourselves_o and_o consequent_o the_o natural_a fear_n which_o we_o have_v of_o our_o own_o danger_n so_o we_o read_v that_o nothing_o can_v move_v the_o ninivites_n so_o much_o as_o the_o foretell_v they_o of_o their_o eminent_a destruction_n 〈◊〉_d and_o st._n john_n baptist_n although_o hâ—_n come_v in_o a_o simple_a and_o contemptiblâ—_n manner_n we_o consider_v also_o of_o the_o punishment_n which_o be_v appoint_v for_o they_o that_o shall_v be_v founâ—_n faulty_a at_o that_o account_n hereby_o 〈◊〉_d leastwise_o if_o no_o other_o consideration_n wâ—_n serve_v to_o induce_v all_o christian_n to_o thâ—â—_n resolution_n of_o serve_v god_n for_o if_o everâ—_n man_n have_v natural_o a_o love_n of_o himself_o and_o desire_v to_o if_o thou_o will_v thrust_v he_o into_o the_o fire_n or_o fling_v he_o into_o a_o ditch_n he_o will_v avoid_v it_o as_o much_o as_o he_o can_v for_o that_o he_o love_v life_n and_o fear_n death_n fear_v thou_o then_o and_o be_v not_o more_o insensible_a than_o a_o beast_n fear_v death_n fear_v judgement_n fear_v hell_n this_o fear_n be_v call_v the_o beginning_n of_o wisdom_n and_o not_o shame_n or_o sorrow_n for_o that_o the_o spirit_n of_o fear_n be_v more_o mighty_a to_o resist_v siâ—ne_v than_o the_o spirit_n of_o shame_n or_o sorrow_n wherefore_o it_o be_v say_v remember_v thy_o end_n and_o thou_o shall_v never_o sin_n that_o be_v remember_v the_o final_a punishment_n which_o be_v appoint_v for_o sin_n after_o this_o thus_o far_o saint_n bernard_n first_o then_o to_o speak_v in_o general_a of_o the_o punishment_n reserve_v for_o the_o life_n to_o come_v if_o the_o scripture_n do_v not_o declare_v in_o particular_a their_o greatness_n unto_o we_o yet_o be_v there_o many_o reason_n to_o persuade_v we_o that_o they_o be_v most_o severe_a dolerous_a and_o intolerable_a for_o first_o as_o god_n be_v a_o god_n in_o all_o his_o work_n that_o be_v to_o say_v great_a revenge_n wherefore_o see_v all_o his_o other_o work_n be_v all_o full_a of_o majesty_n and_o exceed_v our_o capacity_n we_o may_v likewise_o gather_v that_o his_o hand_n in_o punishment_n must_v be_v
