they_o also_o must_v be_v of_o another_o stamp_n to_o wit_n a_o make_v head_n against_o the_o person_n merit_n and_o grace_n of_o jesus_n christ_n these_o be_v the_o sin_n of_o devil_n in_o the_o world_n and_o for_o these_o there_o be_v no_o remission_n these_o they_o also_o that_o be_v of_o the_o wicked_a one_o commit_v and_o therefore_o sin_n after_o the_o similitude_n of_o satan_n and_o so_o fall_v into_o the_o condemnation_n of_o the_o devil_n second_o but_o what_o be_v it_o for_o jesus_n to_o be_v a_o advocate_n for_o these_o if_o any_o man_n sin_n we_o have_v a_o advocate_n a_o and_o this_o lead_v i_o first_o to_o inquire_v into_o what_o by_o these_o word_n the_o apostle_n must_v of_o necessity_n presuppose_v for_o make_v use_n here_o of_o the_o similitude_n or_o office_n of_o a_o advocate_n thereby_o to_o show_v the_o preservation_n of_o the_o sin_v christian_n he_o must_v 1._o suppose_v that_o god_n as_o judge_n be_v now_o upon_o the_o throne_n of_o his_o judgement_n advocate_n with_o the_o father_n it_o be_v clear_a that_o there_o be_v a_o throne_n of_o judgement_n also_o this_o the_o prophet_n micaiah_n affirm_v say_v i_o see_v the_o lord_n sit_v upon_o a_o for_o a_o advocate_n as_o such_o be_v not_o of_o use_n but_o before_o a_o bar_n to_o plead_v therefore_o here_o be_v a_o offence_n and_o so_o a_o law_n break_v by_o the_o saint_n as_o well_o as_o that_o he_o suppose_v a_o man_n have_v sin_v as_o any_o man_n among_o the_o godly_a ever_o do_v for_o so_o we_o may_v understand_v it_o and_o if_o he_o give_v we_o not_o leave_v to_o understand_v it_o so_o he_o say_v nothing_o to_o the_o purpose_n neither_o for_o it_o will_v be_v object_v by_o some_o but_o can_v he_o fetch_v i_o off_o though_o i_o have_v do_v as_o david_n as_o solomon_n as_o and_o a_o wound_a conscience_n further_o methinks_v by_o these_o word_n the_o apostle_n seem_v to_o triumph_v in_o his_o christ_n say_v my_o brethren_n i_o will_v have_v you_o study_v to_o be_v holy_a but_o if_o your_o adversary_n the_o devil_n shall_v get_v the_o advantage_n of_o you_o and_o besmear_v you_o with_o the_o filth_n of_o sin_n you_o have_v yet_o beside_o all_o that_o you_o have_v hear_v already_o a_o advocate_n with_o the_o father_n jesus_n christ_n the_o righteous_a who_o be_v as_o to_o his_o person_n interest_n with_o god_n his_o wisdom_n and_o worth_a able_a to_o bring_v you_o off_o to_o the_o comfort_v of_o your_o soul_n let_v i_o therefore_o for_o a_o conclusion_n as_o to_o this_o give_v you_o a_o exhortation_n to_o believe_v to_o hope_v and_o expect_v that_o condemnation_n that_o by_o the_o law_n of_o sin_n and_o death_n be_v due_a thereto_o this_o be_v then_o the_o occasion_n that_o christ_n take_v to_o plead_v as_o advocate_n for_o the_o salvation_n if_o sin_n can_v make_v it_o bad_a yea_o if_o sin_n it_o self_n be_v bad_a if_o any_o man_n sin_n we_o have_v a_o advocate_n a_o advocate_n to_o plead_v for_o he_o for_o he_o as_o consider_v guilty_a and_o so_o consequent_o as_o consider_v in_o a_o bad_a condition_n it_o be_v true_a we_o must_v distinguish_v between_o the_o person_n and_o the_o sin_n and_o christ_n plead_v for_o the_o person_n not_o the_o sin._n but_o yet_o he_o can_v be_v concern_v with_o the_o person_n but_o he_o must_v be_v with_o the_o sin_n for_o though_o the_o person_n and_o the_o sin_n may_v be_v distinguish_v yet_o they_o can_v be_v separate_v he_o must_v plead_v then_o not_o for_o a_o person_n only_o but_o for_o a_o guilty_a person_n for_o a_o person_n under_o the_o worst_a of_o circumstance_n if_o any_o man_n why_o then_o he_o will_v plead_v that_o in_o prayer_n with_o god._n suppose_v also_o that_o a_o man_n understand_v that_o christ_n rise_v again_o for_o his_o justification_n why_o then_o he_o will_v also_o plead_v that_o in_o prayer_n but_o if_o he_o know_v no_o further_o no_o further_o will_v he_o go_v but_o when_o he_o shall_v know_v that_o there_o be_v for_o he_o also_o a_o advocate_n with_o the_o father_n and_o that_o that_o advocate_n be_v jesus_n christ_n and_o when_o the_o glory_n of_o this_o office_n of_o christ_n shall_v shine_v in_o the_o face_n of_o this_o man_n soul_n oh_o than_o he_o take_v courage_n to_o pray_v with_o that_o courage_n he_o have_v not_o before_o yea_o then_o be_v his_o faith_n so_o support_v and_o make_v strong_a that_o his_o prayer_n be_v more_o fervent_a and_o importune_v abundance_n so_o that_o i_o say_v the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o advocateship_n of_o christ_n be_v very_o useful_a to_o strengthen_v our_o grace_n and_o as_o of_o grace_n in_o general_a so_o of_o faith_n and_o prayer_n in_o particular_a wherefore_o our_o wisdom_n be_v so_o to_o improve_v this_o doctrine_n that_o prayer_n may_v be_v strengthen_v thereby_o three_o as_o we_o shall_v make_v use_n of_o this_o doctrine_n to_o strenghthen_v faith_n and_o prayer_n so_o we_o shall_v mâ—ke_v use_n of_o it_o to_o keep_v we_o humble_a for_o the_o more_o office_n christ_n execute_v
