these_o strange_a and_o violent_a kind_n of_o sickness_n and_o death_n which_o do_v many_o time_n happen_v to_o the_o dear_a saint_n of_o god_n we_o must_v take_v great_a heed_n that_o we_o judge_v concern_v god_n be_v to_o seek_v to_o be_v reconcile_v unto_o he_o in_o christ_n and_o by_o christ_n though_o we_o have_v be_v long_o since_o assure_v of_o his_o favour_n all_o other_o duty_n must_v come_v after_o in_o the_o second_o place_n and_o they_o be_v of_o no_o value_n or_o effect_v without_o this_o touch_v the_o duty_n which_o he_o be_v to_o perform_v to_o himself_o they_o be_v twofold_a the_o one_o concern_v his_o soul_n the_o other_o his_o body_n the_o duty_n concern_v his_o soul_n be_v that_o he_o must_v arm_v and_o furnish_v himself_o against_o the_o immoderate_a fear_n of_o present_a death_n and_o the_o reason_n hereof_o be_v very_o plain_a because_o how_o soever_o natural_o man_n fear_v death_n through_o the_o whole_a course_n of_o their_o life_n more_o or_o less_o yet_o in_o time_n of_o sickness_n when_o death_n approach_v this_o natural_a fear_n breed_v in_o the_o bone_n will_v most_o of_o all_o show_n itself_o even_o in_o such_o sort_n as_o it_o will_v astonish_v the_o sense_n of_o the_o sick_a party_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o we_o shall_v use_v some_o mean_n to_o strengthen_v ourselves_o against_o the_o fear_n of_o death_n which_o mean_n be_v of_o two_o sort_n practice_n and_o meditation_n practice_n that_o the_o sick_a man_n must_v not_o so_o much_o regard_v death_n itself_o as_o the_o benefit_n of_o god_n whiâ—h_n be_v obtain_v after_o death_n he_o must_v not_o fix_v his_o mind_n upon_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o pang_n and_o torment_n of_o death_n but_o aâ—l_v his_o thought_n and_o affection_n must_v be_v upon_o that_o bless_a estate_n that_o he_o be_v to_o enjoy_v after_o death_n he_o that_o be_v to_o swim_v over_o some_o great_a and_o deep_a river_n must_v not_o look_v downward_o to_o the_o
