possess_v a_o kingdom_n have_v thou_o be_v hungry_a and_o thirsty_a here_o then_o thou_o shall_v taste_v of_o the_o tree_n of_o life_n have_v thou_o be_v poor_a and_o naked_a here_o then_o thou_o shall_v be_v clothe_v with_o the_o precious_a robe_n of_o christ_n righteousness_n and_o in_o steed_n of_o the_o rag_n of_o infamy_n and_o reproach_n which_o we_o must_v put_v on_o here_o we_o shall_v be_v crown_v with_o a_o crown_n of_o immortal_a glory_n etc._n etc._n again_o unto_o the_o wicked_a and_o the_o ungodlie_a it_o be_v not_o so_o with_o they_o but_o they_o have_v take_v their_o pleasure_n here_o and_o receive_v their_o portion_n in_o this_o present_a world_n shall_v arise_v now_o to_o judgement_n to_o hear_v the_o sentence_n of_o condemnation_n denounce_v against_o they_o and_o mohammed_n bovaziziow_n to_o be_v cast_v into_o the_o lake_n that_o burn_v with_o fire_n and_o brimstone_n for_o ever_o 5.29_o john_n 5.29_o which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n three_o see_v saint_n john_n say_v that_o we_o shall_v all_o come_v to_o judgement_n these_o body_n of_o we_o though_o they_o be_v drown_v though_o they_o be_v burn_v to_o ash_n or_o howsoever_o they_o be_v consume_v yet_o they_o shall_v rise_v again_o either_o to_o life_n eternal_a or_o death_n eternal_a shall_v not_o this_o make_v we_o all_o belove_v to_o look_v unto_o ourselves_o to_o take_v heed_n we_o do_v not_o use_v our_o body_n to_o the_o dishonour_n of_o god_n will_v thou_o have_v thy_o body_n to_o be_v partaker_n of_o life_n felicity_n glory_n and_o salvation_n in_o heaven_n then_o use_v thy_o body_n now_o to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n upon_o earth_n to_o hear_v his_o word_n to_o sanctify_v god_n sabbath_n etc._n etc._n but_o if_o thou_o use_v thy_o body_n to_o sin_n to_o swear_v to_o drunkenness_n whoredom_n etc._n etc._n then_o know_v that_o thy_o body_n shall_v rise_v again_o to_o judgement_n to_o be_v torment_v for_o ever_o do_v not_o look_v upon_o the_o rich_a glutton_n 16._o luke_n 16._o he_o have_v abuse_v his_o body_n to_o swear_v drunkenness_n etc._n etc._n and_o what_o become_v of_o it_o be_v he_o not_o fearful_o torment_v in_o hell_n at_o last_o and_o he_o which_o have_v give_v his_o tongue_n to_o swear_v etc._n etc._n now_o he_o cry_v his_o tongue_n his_o tongue_n o_o that_o all_o sinful_a wretch_n can_v but_o think_v of_o this_o one_o example_n of_o god_n judgement_n that_o if_o they_o abuse_v their_o body_n as_o this_o man_n do_v that_o they_o shall_v then_o taste_v of_o the_o same_o judgement_n will_v thou_o have_v thy_o body_n glorify_v then_o glorify_v god_n in_o thy_o body_n do_v thou_o think_v that_o thy_o soul_n shall_v be_v save_v and_o thy_o body_n glorify_v if_o thou_o use_v the_o member_n thereof_o to_o sin_n to_o uncleanenes_n etc._n etc._n o_o no_o let_v we_o not_o deceive_v our_o own_o soul_n it_o can_v not_o be_v for_o say_v the_o apostle_n 6.2_o rom._n 6.2_o how_o can_v we_o that_o be_v dead_a to_o sin_n yet_o live_v therein_o four_o see_v the_o holie-ghost_n say_v that_o of_o what_o death_n soever_o we_o do_v die_v we_o shall_v all_o rise_v again_o and_o god_n child_n they_o shall_v rise_v to_o life_n and_o to_o glory_n this_o must_v teach_v we_o all_o this_o doctrine_n namely_o not_o to_o weep_v and_o mourn_v immoderate_o for_o our_o friend_n decease_v true_a it_o be_v that_o christ_n jesus_n weep_v for_o lazarus_n 11._o john_n 11._o and_o the_o disciple_n make_v great_a lamentation_n for_o stephen_n 7._o act_n 7._o and_o so_o we_o have_v great_a cause_n to_o mourn_v and_o weep_v when_o as_o some_o special_a member_n of_o the_o church_n of_o god_n be_v take_v away_o we_o may_v not_o be_v as_o stock_n or_o stone_n or_o senseless_a creature_n without_o affection_n it_o must_v needs_o grieve_v the_o heart_n of_o a_o husband_n to_o part_v with_o his_o love_a godly_a and_o religious_a wife_n but_o here_o be_v a_o mean_a for_o this_o mourning_n to_o moderate_v our_o weep_n that_o we_o weep_v not_o and_o mourn_v not_o overmuch_o for_o they_o shall_v rise_v again_o i_o will_v not_o have_v you_o ignorant_a brethren_n concern_v those_o that_o be_v asleep_a that_o you_o shall_v mourn_v at_o they_o that_o have_v no_o hope_n 1._o thess_n 4.13_o where_o the_o holy-ghost_n tell_v we_o that_o the_o dead_a in_o christ_n do_v not_o die_v proper_o but_o lay_v they_o down_o to_o take_v a_o sweet_a sleep_n after_o their_o long_a and_o tedious_a labour_n and_o troubl_n in_o this_o world_n and_o afterward_o they_o must_v rise_v again_o to_o life_n to_o happiness_n to_o liberty_n to_o glory_n and_o salvation_n and_o wherefore_o then_o shall_v we_o mourn_v so_o excessive_o &_o weep_v and_o lament_v at_o the_o death_n of_o our_o friend_n see_v they_o do_v not_o perish_v they_o be_v not_o cast_v away_o o_o no_o their_o soul_n be_v present_o in_o joy_n and_o their_o body_n be_v bury_v in_o the_o grave_n as_o in_o a_o bed_n of_o dowlne_a to_o take_v a_o sweet_a sleep_n till_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n and_o then_o they_o shall_v rise_v to_o glory_n and_o they_o be_v judge_v every_o man_n according_a to_o their_o work_n mark_v i_o pray_v you_o how_o the_o holy_a ghost_n repeat_v this_o point_n again_o and_o again_o he_o beat_v upon_o it_o he_o can_v never_o have_v do_v with_o it_o he_o say_v before_o the_o book_n be_v open_v and_o the_o dead_a be_v judge_v according_a to_o those_o thing_n write_v in_o the_o book_n and_o now_o again_o he_o say_v they_o be_v judge_v every_o man_n according_a to_o his_o work_n what_o shall_v be_v the_o cause_n why_o the_o holy-ghost_n so_o often_o repeat_v this_o point_n and_o beat_v so_o upon_o it_o again_o and_o again_o i_o answer_v the_o cause_n be_v in_o we_o because_o we_o be_v hardly_o bring_v to_o believe_v this_o point_n hardly_o persuade_v of_o so_o necessary_a a_o matter_n for_o hardly_o one_o man_n of_o a_o thousand_o believe_v this_o that_o he_o shall_v be_v judge_v according_a to_o his_o work_n oh_o it_o be_v a_o hard_a matter_n to_o persuade_v man_n and_o woman_n of_o this_o that_o they_o must_v give_v a_o account_n of_o their_o work_n and_o be_v judge_v by_o their_o work_n tell_v the_o wicked_a sinner_n of_o his_o ungodly_a way_n of_o his_o profaneness_n contempt_n of_o god_n word_n etc._n etc._n and_o what_o do_v they_o say_v do_v they_o quake_v and_o tremble_v do_v their_o heart_n and_o soul_n even_o earn_v in_o they_o o_o no_o no_o they_o flatter_v themselves_o with_o this_o conceit_n god_n be_v merciful_a and_o thus_o they_o make_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n a_o packhorse_n for_o all_o their_o abomination_n and_o thus_o it_o be_v in_o the_o vile_a heart_n of_o man_n to_o think_v he_o shall_v never_o come_v to_o account_v for_o his_o sin_n that_o he_o shall_v never_o be_v call_v to_o a_o reckon_n for_o they_o and_o receive_v his_o reward_n according_a to_o his_o work_n here_o than_o we_o may_v perceive_v there_o be_v but_o two_o sort_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n there_o be_v the_o repentant_a sinner_n and_o the_o impenitent_a sinner_n and_o both_o of_o they_o must_v come_v to_o judgement_n the_o repentant_a sinner_n be_v he_o or_o she_o that_o mourn_v for_o their_o sin_n bewail_v they_o hate_v they_o and_o leave_v they_o and_o do_v hunger_n and_o thirst_n after_o good_a thing_n now_o the_o impenitent_a sinner_n be_v he_o or_o she_o that_o live_v in_o sin_n and_o will_v not_o in_o any_o wise_a be_v bring_v to_o leave_v sin_n they_o never_o with_o tear_n beg_v the_o pardon_n of_o they_o at_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n but_o wallow_v in_o all_o uncleanness_n heap_v sin_n upon_o sin_n and_o one_o ungodly_a way_n upon_o another_o whereas_o all_o the_o sin_n of_o god_n child_n who_o do_v repent_v be_v quit_v and_o pardon_v in_o christ_n jesus_n he_o have_v nail_v they_o to_o his_o cross_n and_o have_v wash_v they_o away_o in_o his_o own_o blood_n and_o they_o shall_v never_o come_v to_o light_v but_o their_o faith_n their_o religion_n their_o good_a deed_n as_o their_o feed_n and_o clothing_n of_o christ_n jesus_n in_o his_o poor_a member_n matth._n 25._o and_o according_a to_o these_o they_o shall_v receive_v their_o reward_n life_n happiness_n and_o eternal_a salvation_n and_o as_o their_o good_a deed_n be_v many_o and_o great_a so_o shall_v their_o honour_n praise_n and_o glory_n be_v great_a in_o heaven_n and_o therefore_o we_o shall_v labour_v to_o abound_v in_o good_a work_n in_o faith_n knowledge_n repentance_n love_n zeal_n etc._n etc._n see_v our_o reward_n shall_v be_v according_a to_o our_o work_n but_o as_o for_o the_o unrepentant_a sinner_n that_o live_v in_o sin_n delight_n in_o sin_n as_o they_o do_v not_o repent_v nor_o have_v no_o faith_n nor_o good_a work_n even_o so_o as_o their_o work_n shall_v be_v so_o
the_o three_o thing_n wherein_o this_o second_o death_n do_v consist_v be_v that_o all_o reprobate_n shall_v be_v punish_v with_o everlasting_a perdition_n they_o shall_v be_v torment_v in_o body_n and_o soul_n with_o unspeakable_a torment_n the_o wrath_n and_o vengeance_n of_o god_n shall_v seize_v upon_o they_o and_o feed_v on_o they_o as_o fire_n do_v on_o pitch_n or_o brimstone_n where_o they_o shall_v be_v ever_o burn_v and_o boil_v and_o yet_o never_o consume_v ever_o in_o pain_n and_o torment_n and_o never_o have_v ease_n and_o to_o show_v the_o wonderful_a torment_n of_o hell_n of_o this_o second_o death_n our_o saviour_n compare_v it_o unto_o a_o furnace_n of_o fire_n 13.24_o mat._n 13.24_o now_o what_o a_o woeful_a torment_n be_v it_o to_o be_v cast_v into_o a_o furnace_n of_o fire_n and_o to_o lie_v many_o thousand_o year_n therein_o this_o be_v a_o torment_n that_o can_v be_v express_v again_o he_o say_v that_o their_o worm_n sh_n will_v not_o die_v 66.24_o esay_n 66.24_o and_o their_o fire_n shall_v not_o be_v quench_v now_o how_o shall_v a_o man_n do_v if_o he_o shall_v have_v a_o worm_n always_o crawl_v in_o his_o belly_n gnaw_v always_o at_o his_o heart_n this_o be_v the_o estate_n of_o all_o wicked_a man_n and_o woman_n they_o shall_v always_o have_v a_o worm_n even_o grief_n and_o anguish_n of_o heart_n ever_o gnaw_v at_o their_o heart_n and_o bite_v at_o their_o conscience_n and_o this_o worm_n shall_v never_o die_v nor_o kill_v they_o but_o ever_o gnaw_v and_o wound_v they_o so_o than_o you_o see_v by_o this_o which_o have_v be_v speak_v what_o this_o second_o death_n be_v and_o also_o wherein_o it_o do_v consist_v now_o all_o the_o question_n will_v be_v who_o shall_v be_v cast_v into_o this_o lake_n of_o fire_n who_o be_v they_o that_o shall_v die_v this_o second_o death_n death_n who_o they_o be_v that_o shall_v partake_v of_o the_o second_o death_n which_o be_v such_o a_o miserable_a and_o woeful_a death_n for_o there_o be_v no_o man_n nor_o woman_n that_o live_v i_o think_v but_o they_o suppose_v that_o they_o shall_v escape_v this_o death_n they_o hope_v that_o they_o shall_v be_v save_v and_o so_o escape_v this_o flame_a fire_n and_o therefore_o now_o you_o shall_v see_v who_o they_o be_v that_o shall_v be_v cast_v into_o it_o look_v they_o be_v there_o mark_v out_o unto_o we_o reu._n 21.8_o the_o fearful_a and_o unbeliever_n and_o abominable_a and_o murderer_n and_o whoremonger_n and_o sorcerer_n and_o liar_n etc._n etc._n shall_v have_v their_o part_n in_o the_o lake_n that_o burn_v with_o fire_n and_o brimstone_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n so_o than_o rhe_n holy-ghost_n tell_v we_o that_o all_o impenitent_a sinner_n shall_v be_v damn_v 6.10_o 1_o cor._n 6.10_o shall_v be_v cast_v into_o this_o lake_n of_o fire_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n then_o what_o a_o strange_a thing_n be_v this_o the_o holy-ghost_n tell_v we_o who_o shall_v be_v damn_v and_o cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n all_o impenitent_a sinner_n the_o blasphemer_n the_o drunkard_n etc._n etc._n and_o yet_o no_o man_n almost_o will_v believe_v this_o well_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n can_v lie_v he_o say_v that_o all_o the_o wicked_a and_o ungodlie_a sinner_n shall_v be_v cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n now_o tell_v never_o so_o wicked_a a_o wretch_n of_o his_o sin_n of_o his_o swear_n etc._n etc._n and_o what_o will_v they_o say_v tush_o god_n be_v merciful_a i_o hope_v i_o shall_v be_v save_v be_v not_o this_o i_o pray_v to_o give_v the_o holy-ghost_n the_o lie_n tell_v the_o drunkard_n or_o the_o profaner_n of_o the_o lord_n day_n etc._n etc._n they_o shall_v be_v damn_v do_v they_o believe_v this_o oh_o no_o no_o for_o if_o they_o do_v believe_v it_o how_o dare_v they_o be_v so_o bold_a to_o live_v in_o sin_n well_o howsoever_o these_o vile_a wretch_n say_v they_o hope_v to_o be_v save_v aswell_o as_o the_o best_a of_o they_o all_o yet_o know_v this_o be_v the_o truth_n of_o god_n the_o holy-ghost_n tell_v we_o plain_o that_o all_o unbeliever_n and_o thief_n and_o murderer_n etc._n etc._n shall_v be_v cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n and_o brimstone_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n but_o to_o you_o who_o heart_n do_v tremble_v for_o fear_n of_o these_o thing_n who_o soul_n do_v melt_v for_o fear_n of_o this_o second_o death_n now_o if_o you_o will_v know_v how_o to_o escape_v this_o lake_n of_o fire_n and_o how_o to_o avoid_v this_o second_o death_n which_o be_v the_o eternal_a damnation_n and_o torment_n both_o of_o body_n and_o soul_n you_o shall_v see_v how_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n do_v not_o only_o show_v you_o how_o to_o escape_v hell_n but_o to_o come_v to_o heaven_n not_o only_o to_o avoid_v damnation_n in_o this_o lake_n of_o fire_n but_o to_o obtain_v salvation_n and_o joy_n in_o the_o bless_a and_o glorious_a presence_n of_o almighty_a god_n for_o evermore_o now_o see_v what_o the_o holy-ghost_n do_v teach_v thou_o in_o the_o six_o verse_n of_o this_o chapter_n bless_a and_o holy_a be_v he_o that_o have_v his_o part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n for_o on_o such_o the_o second_o death_n shall_v have_v no_o power_n but_o they_o shall_v be_v the_o priest_n of_o god_n and_o of_o christ_n and_o shall_v reign_v with_o he_o a_o thousand_o year_n that_o be_v for_o evermore_o so_o then_o will_v you_o know_v what_o manner_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n shall_v escape_v the_o second_o death_n and_o eternal_a damnation_n in_o this_o lake_n of_o hell_n fire_n why_o the_o holy-ghost_n say_v they_o and_o none_o but_o they_o that_o have_v their_o part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n so_o than_o it_o be_v manifest_a in_o these_o word_n that_o there_o be_v two_o resurrection_n and_o also_o a_o double_a death_n the_o child_n of_o god_n they_o have_v a_o double_a resurrection_n and_o one_o death_n but_o all_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a sinner_n they_o have_v one_o resurrection_n and_o a_o double_a death_n so_o then_o let_v we_o see_v what_o be_v mean_v by_o this_o first_o resurrection_n namely_o our_o rise_n out_o of_o the_o grave_n of_o sin_n to_o newness_n of_o life_n this_o be_v the_o first_o resurrection_n 2.1_o ephes_n 2.1_o you_o that_o be_v dead_a in_o trespass_n and_o sin_n have_v he_o quicken_v 6.4_o rom._n 6.4_o and_o we_o be_v bury_v with_o christ_n in_o baptism_n that_o like_a as_o he_o rise_v again_o to_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o father_n even_o so_o we_o shall_v walk_v in_o newness_n of_o life_n so_o then_o will_v you_o know_v whether_o you_o shall_v escape_v eternal_a fire_n in_o hell_n even_o this_o second_o death_n then_o look_v unto_o your_o own_o soul_n be_v you_o dead_a to_o all_o your_o old_a sin_n and_o new_a sin_n be_v you_o quicken_v in_o the_o inner_a man_n do_v you_o hate_v sin_n as_o well_o when_o it_o be_v commit_v by_o yourself_o as_o by_o other_o do_v you_o labour_v to_o mortify_v and_o to_o keep_v under_o the_o work_n of_o the_o flesh_n and_o walk_v in_o all_o holy_a duty_n and_o obedience_n both_o unto_o god_n and_o man_n 8.1_o rom._n 8.1_o for_o there_o be_v no_o condemnation_n to_o they_o that_o be_v in_o christ_n which_o walk_v not_o after_o the_o flesh_n but_o after_o the_o spirit_n bless_a and_o holy_a be_v they_o that_o have_v part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n where_o he_o show_v that_o none_o shall_v be_v bless_v none_o shall_v have_v part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n and_o be_v free_v from_o the_o second_o death_n but_o such_o as_o be_v sanctify_v to_o live_v a_o godly_a life_n that_o be_v partaker_n of_o the_o first_o resurrection_n and_o therefore_o if_o you_o desire_v to_o be_v bless_v &_o to_o escape_v the_o second_o death_n which_o be_v the_o everlasting_a damnation_n both_o of_o body_n and_o soul_n then_o labour_v here_o to_o live_v a_o godly_a life_n for_o these_o two_o justification_n and_o sanctification_n can_v be_v sever_v and_o this_o be_v a_o very_a great_a comfort_n to_o all_o the_o true_a member_n of_o christ_n use_v that_o do_v repent_v and_o leave_v their_o sin_n and_o live_v a_o godly_a life_n though_o they_o be_v in_o misery_n in_o poverty_n in_o want_n and_o in_o the_o end_n die_v the_o first_o death_n of_o the_o body_n yet_o they_o shall_v be_v free_v from_o the_o second_o death_n that_o be_v from_o eternal_a death_n the_o gate_n of_o hell_n shall_v not_o prevail_v against_o they_o and_o therefore_o as_o you_o love_v your_o soul_n as_o you_o desire_v to_o be_v bless_v and_o to_o escape_v eternal_a damnation_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n labour_v i_o say_v to_o have_v a_o part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n to_o die_v unto_o sin_n and_o to_o live_v in_o newness_n of_o life_n but_o
as_o for_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a sinner_n that_o live_v in_o sin_n delight_n in_o sin_n that_o have_v no_o part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n their_o case_n be_v woeful_a they_o be_v subject_a to_o the_o second_o that_o be_v eternal_a death_n and_o damnation_n for_o if_o you_o live_v after_o the_o flesh_n 6.8_o rom._n 6.8_o you_o shall_v die_v and_o therefore_o deceive_v not_o yourselves_o as_o many_o do_v which_o think_v if_o they_o come_v to_o church_n hear_v the_o word_n receive_v the_o sacrament_n all_o be_v well_o they_o hope_v god_n will_v be_v merciful_a to_o they_o they_o hope_v they_o shall_v not_o be_v damn_v well_o mark_v what_o i_o say_v thou_o may_v come_v to_o church_n due_o thou_o may_v hear_v the_o word_n of_o god_n as_o long_o as_o thou_o live_v thou_o may_v receive_v the_o sacrament_n as_o often_o as_o thou_o will_v but_o if_o thou_o have_v not_o thy_o part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n that_o be_v unless_o thou_o live_v a_o godly_a life_n unless_o thou_o mortify_v thy_o filthy_a sin_n and_o ungodly_a desire_n unless_o thou_o become_v a_o new_a creature_n sure_o sure_o thy_o estate_n be_v lamentable_a and_o thy_o part_n be_v in_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n and_o brimstone_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n and_o therefore_o let_v no_o man_n deceive_v himself_o and_o sooth_n himself_o because_o he_o hear_v the_o word_n profess_v the_o gospel_n receive_v the_o sacrament_n that_o therefore_o he_o be_v well_o enough_o no_o no_o though_o thou_o hear_v never_o so_o much_o if_o thou_o live_v in_o sin_n in_o swear_v drunkenness_n etc._n etc._n thy_o estate_n be_v as_o woeful_a as_o before_o because_o thou_o be_v not_o free_v from_o the_o second_o death_n and_o mark_v this_o difference_n the_o child_n of_o god_n have_v two_o live_v in_o swear_v lie_a drunkenness_n etc._n etc._n and_o yet_o they_o think_v they_o shall_v never_o die_v they_o think_v they_o shall_v escape_v for_o all_o their_o sin_n but_o poor_a soul_n let_v bring_v it_o forth_o it_o bring_v we_o to_o death_n and_o hell_n for_o death_n and_o hell_n be_v the_o reward_n of_o sin_n and_o death_n and_o hell_n be_v cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n will_v you_o know_v what_o shall_v become_v of_o the_o profane_a wretch_n of_o the_o world_n will_v you_o know_v what_o shall_v become_v of_o the_o blasphemer_n will_v you_o know_v what_o shall_v become_v of_o the_o adulterer_n drunkard_n idolater_n swearer_n etc._n etc._n s._n john_n say_v here_o in_o plain_a term_n they_o shall_v be_v cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n thus_o be_v the_o rich_a be_v afraid_a to_o commit_v treason_n because_o traitor_n be_v so_o grievous_o punish_v they_o be_v hang_v draw_v and_o quarter_v but_o alas_o man_n be_v not_o afraid_a to_o commit_v treason_n against_o the_o king_n of_o heaven_n though_o they_o must_v be_v cast_v into_o a_o lake_n of_o fire_n for_o evermore_o man_n be_v afraid_a to_o offend_v the_o prince_n for_o fear_n of_o death_n and_o yet_o our_o saviour_n bid_v we_o not_o fear_v they_o that_o can_v kill_v the_o body_n and_o can_v do_v no_o more_o but_o fear_v he_o that_o can_v cast_v both_o body_n and_o soul_n into_o hell_n fire_n and_o yet_o we_o see_v that_o man_n and_o woman_n be_v more_o afraid_a to_o offend_v man_n than_o god_n that_o can_v cast_v both_o body_n and_o soul_n into_o hell_n fire_n if_o we_o shall_v see_v a_o little_a child_n fall_v into_o the_o fire_n and_o hear_v it_o cry_v pitiful_o and_o the_o very_a bowel_n shall_v be_v burn_v out_o o_o how_o it_o will_v grieve_v we_o and_o make_v our_o very_a heart_n bleed_v within_o we_o how_o much_o more_o than_o shall_v it_o grieve_v we_o to_o see_v not_o a_o child_n but_o even_o our_o own_o body_n and_o soul_n cast_v away_o for_o ever_o by_o sin_n into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n that_o can_v be_v quench_v if_o a_o man_n shall_v come_v among_o we_o and_o cry_v fire_n fire_n thy_o house_n be_v all_o of_o a_o flame_a fire_n thy_o corn_n thy_o cattle_n thy_o wife_n and_o child_n and_o all_o that_o thou_o have_v be_v consume_v with_o fire_n oh_o how_o will_v this_o astonish_v we_o that_o will_v make_v the_o very_a hair_n to_o stand_v upright_o on_o our_o head_n and_o tear_n to_o gush_v out_o of_o our_o eye_n behold_v then_o and_o see_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n cry_v out_o unto_o we_o fire_n even_o the_o dreadful_a fire_n of_o hell_n gape_v ready_a to_o devour_v not_o thy_o house_n thy_o corn_n or_o thy_o cattle_n but_o thy_o poor_a soul_n and_o that_o for_o evermore_o oh_o how_o shall_v this_o break_v our_o hard_a and_o flinty_a heart_n by_o this_o we_o may_v see_v there_o be_v a_o double_a death_n there_o be_v the_o first_o death_n and_o the_o second_o death_n the_o first_o death_n be_v the_o separation_n of_o the_o soul_n from_o the_o body_n &_o this_o be_v common_a to_o all_o the_o child_n of_o god_n do_v die_v this_o death_n aswell_o as_o the_o wicked_a yet_o there_o be_v a_o difference_n for_o death_n be_v no_o curse_n to_o the_o child_n of_o god_n because_o christ_n death_n have_v take_v away_o the_o sting_n of_o death_n that_o it_o can_v not_o hurt_v the_o child_n of_o god_n no_o it_o be_v as_o a_o door_n to_o let_v our_o soul_n into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n but_o the_o second_o they_o never_o taste_v of_o no_o child_n of_o god_n needs_o to_o fear_v the_o second_o death_n 8.1_o rom._n 8.1_o for_o there_o be_v no_o condemnation_n to_o they_o that_o be_v in_o christ_n jesus_n consist_v wherein_o the_o second_o death_n consist_v now_o as_o the_o first_o death_n be_v only_o the_o separation_n of_o the_o soul_n from_o the_o body_n so_o the_o second_o death_n be_v a_o total_a and_o final_a separation_n of_o both_o soul_n and_o body_n from_o god_n for_o evermore_o and_o this_o second_o death_n do_v stand_v principal_o in_o these_o three_o point_n first_o that_o all_o the_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a sinner_n that_o live_v and_o die_v in_o their_o sin_n they_o shall_v be_v sever_v from_o the_o glorious_a and_o bless_a presence_n of_o god_n for_o ever_o which_o shall_v be_v punish_v with_o everlasting_a perdition_n from_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o from_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o power_n 2._o thes_n 1.9_o o_o what_o a_o woeful_a death_n be_v this_o to_o be_v pluck_v and_o tear_v from_o the_o bless_a and_o comfortable_a presence_n of_o god_n whereas_o our_o saviour_n christ_n say_v matth._n 5._o â—8_o that_o our_o happiness_n and_o all_o the_o joy_n of_o god_n child_n shall_v stand_v in_o the_o behold_n of_o god_n and_o be_v in_o his_o presence_n for_o evermore_o favour_n he_o be_v withheld_a sometime_o bribe_v blind_a his_o eye_n and_o pervert_v the_o right_a sentence_n but_o it_o shall_v not_o be_v so_o with_o this_o judge_n of_o the_o whole_a world_n his_o sentence_n be_v a_o righteous_a sentence_n he_o will_v judge_v according_a to_o truth_n he_o be_v able_a to_o find_v out_o any_o cause_n and_o will_v examine_v it_o to_o the_o bottom_n he_o fear_v no_o man_n person_n he_o will_v not_o be_v move_v with_o favour_n to_o conceal_v the_o truth_n and_o as_o for_o reward_n he_o contemn_v they_o all_o therefore_o no_o doubt_n he_o will_v proceed_v according_a to_o justice_n this_o serve_v for_o the_o comfort_n use_v 1_o of_o god_n people_n in_o this_o world_n we_o see_v oftentimes_o the_o righteous_a cause_n be_v tread_v under_o foot_n man_n land_n and_o live_n be_v detain_v and_o take_v from_o they_o by_o unrighteous_a judge_n and_o that_o under_o colour_n of_o law_n well_o let_v man_n have_v patience_n and_o know_v this_o that_o there_o will_v come_v a_o day_n wherein_o there_o shall_v be_v justice_n and_o true_a judgement_n do_v unto_o they_o here_o thy_o cause_n shall_v be_v hear_v it_o shall_v be_v right_v for_o christ_n jesus_n will_v be_v a_o righteous_a judge_n for_o the_o poor_a the_o fatherless_a and_o the_o widow_n again_o we_o see_v how_o the_o member_n of_o christ_n which_o make_v conscience_n of_o sin_n and_o care_n of_o their_o life_n to_o hear_v the_o word_n and_o to_o walk_v according_o they_o be_v disgrace_v and_o despise_v of_o the_o world_n well_o let_v we_o learn_v here_o to_o possess_v our_o soul_n with_o judge_n here_o to_o try_v a_o few_o person_n such_o call_n for_o evidence_n such_o prove_v of_o witness_n such_o prefer_n of_o inditement_n but_o saint_n john_n say_v it_o shall_v not_o be_v so_o here_o for_o all_o must_v proceed_v according_a to_o the_o write_a record_n and_o according_a to_o these_o thing_n which_o be_v write_v in_o the_o book_n so_o as_o when_o christ_n jesus_n the_o great_a judge_n shall_v once_o sit_v upon_o the_o throne_n of_o his_o glory_n attend_v by_o his_o holy_a angel_n then_o shall_v the_o book_n of_o every_o man_n conscience_n be_v open_v and_o then_o they_o shall_v afresh_o call_v to_o mind_v all_o their_o sin_n in_o these_o word_n we_o be_v to_o observe_v three_o special_a point_n text._n part_n of_o the_o text._n first_o who_o they_o be_v that_o must_v come_v to_o this_o judgement_n namely_o the_o dead_a even_o they_o which_o have_v lie_v many_o thousand_o year_n rot_v in_o the_o grave_n second_o the_o mean_n whereby_o they_o must_v be_v try_v even_o by_o those_o thing_n which_o be_v write_v and_o record_v in_o their_o book_n three_o the_o touchstone_n of_o this_o trial_n namely_o the_o write_a word_n of_o god_n and_o first_o of_o the_o person_n it_o be_v not_o to_o be_v doubt_v but_o that_o saint_n john_n mean_v that_o all_o must_v come_v to_o judgement_n both_o great_a and_o small_a must_v stand_v before_o god_n but_o why_o do_v he_o say_v here_o and_o the_o dead_a shall_v be_v judge_v it_o be_v to_o be_v observe_v that_o he_o name_v so_o express_o the_o dead_a even_o those_o which_o have_v lyen_fw-we rot_v so_o many_o thousand_o year_n must_v come_v to_o judgement_n they_o must_v be_v call_v to_o account_v yea_o their_o old_a sin_n must_v be_v now_o bring_v to_o light_n for_o this_o be_v rhe_n wicked_a thought_n of_o many_o carnal_a man_n that_o when_o a_o man_n be_v dead_a he_o be_v well_o then_o all_o his_o sin_n die_v with_o he_o he_o be_v forget_v and_o his_o sin_n be_v not_o speak_v of_o but_o saint_n john_n say_v here_o that_o even_o the_o dead_a must_v come_v to_o judgement_n even_o their_o old_a sin_n must_v come_v to_o light_n and_o they_o must_v answer_v for_o they_o it_o be_v nigh_o six_o thousand_o year_n since_o cain_n slay_v his_o brother_n yet_o this_o sin_n of_o he_o be_v not_o forget_v though_o cain_n be_v dead_a so_o long_o since_o yet_o his_o sin_n be_v not_o dead_a no_o no_o cain_n one_o day_n shall_v come_v to_o account_v for_o his_o sin_n judas_n he_o do_v for_o vile_a lucre_n sell_v his_o master_n many_o hundred_o of_o year_n ago_o he_o be_v dead_a and_o go_v but_o at_o this_o day_n he_o shall_v be_v call_v to_o account_v so_o in_o our_o day_n many_o man_n think_v when_o they_o die_v their_o sin_n shall_v never_o be_v bring_v to_o light_v the_o usurer_n he_o get_v his_o good_n by_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a mean_n he_o grow_v in_o wealth_n when_o he_o die_v he_o think_v he_o shall_v never_o hear_v of_o this_o sin_n again_o so_o the_o drunkard_n swearer_n profaner_n of_o the_o lord_n sabbath_n etc._n etc._n they_o be_v persuade_v that_o death_n will_v end_v all_o their_o misery_n ah_o poor_a soul_n it_o be_v well_o with_o they_o indeed_o if_o death_n may_v end_v their_o woeful_a misery_n but_o alas_o alas_o death_n be_v even_o as_o a_o wide_a gate_n to_o let_v they_o have_v some_o passage_n to_o endless_a woe_n and_o misery_n for_o when_o they_o be_v dead_a and_o bury_v their_o sin_n do_v not_o die_v with_o they_o their_o misery_n be_v not_o then_o end_v o_o no_o then_o begin_v their_o endless_a misery_n &_o torment_n oh_o it_o be_v good_a they_o may_v have_v no_o more_o be_v after_o death_n it_o have_v be_v good_a for_o such_o man_n they_o have_v never_o be_v bear_v or_o be_v bear_v that_o they_o have_v be_v make_v rather_o a_o toad_n or_o a_o serpent_n for_o in_o death_n they_o have_v a_o end_n but_o it_o be_v not_o so_o with_o a_o filthy_a and_o and_z ungodly_a sinner_n for_o when_o he_o be_v dead_a and_o bury_v even_o than_o begin_v his_o great_a woe_n and_o misery_n for_o even_o the_o sinner_n that_o be_v dead_a a_o many_o thousand_o year_n must_v for_o all_o this_o come_v to_o judgement_n and_o therefore_o thou_o that_o live_v in_o sin_n in_o adultery_n etc._n etc._n remember_v that_o although_o thou_o die_v yet_o thy_o sin_n do_v not_o die_v with_o thou_o no_o no_o both_o thou_o and_o they_o must_v one_o day_n come_v to_o judgement_n thy_o old_a sin_n and_o those_o which_o thou_o have_v commit_v in_o secret_a they_o must_v come_v now_o to_o light_n see_v that_o the_o dead_a must_v come_v to_o judgement_n use_v that_o have_v lie_v a_o many_o hundred_o year_n in_o the_o grave_n and_o then_o their_o old_a sin_n and_o secret_a sin_n must_v come_v to_o light_v oh_o let_v we_o then_o watch_v over_o our_o life_n and_o have_v this_o still_o in_o our_o mind_n well_o though_o i_o die_v and_o rot_v in_o the_o grave_n yet_o my_o sin_n shall_v not_o die_v my_o evil_a way_n can_v be_v bury_v they_o must_v come_v to_o light_n that_o so_o we_o may_v never_o dare_v to_o sin_n think_v as_o many_o do_v that_o when_o they_o be_v once_o dead_a they_o shall_v never_o come_v to_o account_v for_o their_o sin_n but_o saint_n john_n say_v here_o that_o the_o dead_a be_v judge_v even_o those_o who_o we_o forget_v and_o who_o sin_n we_o will_v think_v will_v never_o be_v call_v to_o account_v even_o they_o must_v come_v to_o a_o reckon_n in_o the_o next_o place_n saint_n john_n tell_v we_o how_o all_o man_n shall_v be_v try_v and_o according_a to_o what_o sentence_n shall_v be_v award_v namely_o according_a to_o those_o thing_n write_v in_o their_o book_n here_o be_v the_o evidence_n here_o be_v no_o witness_n to_o be_v produce_v for_o a_o man_n conscience_n shall_v be_v even_o as_o good_a as_o a_o thousand_o witness_n now_o what_o be_v here_o mean_v by_o the_o book_n you_o have_v hear_v already_o namely_o the_o particular_a conscience_n of_o every_o man_n and_o woman_n thy_o conscience_n be_v the_o book_n that_o be_v the_o evidence_n no_o other_o witness_n shall_v be_v produce_v but_o even_o thy_o own_o conscience_n again_o the_o thing_n which_o be_v write_v in_o these_o book_n i_o tell_v you_o they_o be_v all_o our_o thought_n word_n and_o work_n not_o only_o our_o gross_a sin_n as_o murder_v etc._n etc._n but_o in_o our_o book_n be_v record_v even_o our_o idle_a and_o vain_a word_n every_o vile_a and_o filthy_a thought_n and_o by_o these_o sentence_n must_v proceed_v and_o according_a to_o these_o must_v judgement_n be_v award_v now_o then_o those_o which_o deed_n first_o it_o must_v teach_v we_o above_o all_o thing_n to_o look_v to_o our_o book_n our_o conscience_n to_o keep_v they_o very_o fair_a and_o clean_o that_o our_o book_n of_o account_n be_v in_o a_o readiness_n for_o our_o conscience_n shall_v either_o excuse_v or_o accuse_v we_o at_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n 24._o act_n 24._o this_o be_v the_o care_n of_o the_o bless_a apostle_n the_o doctrine_n be_v apparent_a man_n be_v first_o cast_v out_o of_o paradise_n for_o sin_n neither_o be_v there_o any_o thing_n that_o do_v hinder_v his_o return_n but_o only_a sin_n for_o it_o be_v sin_n that_o make_v we_o execrable_a to_o the_o lord_n and_o do_v hinder_v all_o good_a thing_n from_o us._n 38.4_o psal_n 38.4_o for_o as_o long_o as_o sin_n remain_v it_o be_v as_o a_o weighty_a of_o the_o which_o the_o whole_a world_n beside_o perish_v what_o be_v that_o ark_n but_o a_o type_n and_o figure_n of_o christ_n church_n wherein_o salvation_n be_v to_o be_v find_v and_o out_o of_o the_o which_o there_o be_v no_o salvation_n to_o be_v look_v for_o see_v therefore_o that_o remission_n of_o sin_n be_v proper_a only_a to_o christ_n church_n and_o that_o therein_o be_v salvation_n and_o eternal_a life_n to_o be_v find_v we_o may_v safe_o therefore_o conclude_v that_o the_o estate_n of_o christ_n church_n and_o of_o every_o member_n thereof_o be_v most_o excellent_a and_o bless_a the_o use_n of_o this_o doctrine_n be_v use_v 1_o excellent_a as_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o church_n be_v first_o then_o see_v that_o christ_n will_v thus_o pass_v by_o the_o sin_n of_o his_o child_n and_o judge_v they_o fair_a without_o any_o spot_n and_o blemish_n of_o sin_n if_o they_o do_v true_o repent_v and_o embrace_v he_o and_o his_o righteousness_n by_o faith_n here_o be_v matter_n of_o endless_a comfort_n to_o every_o poor_a child_n of_o god_n note_n note_n do_v thou_o repent_v of_o thy_o sin_n and_o be_v true_o humble_v for_o they_o do_v thou_o embrace_v christ_n jesus_n for_o the_o pardon_n of_o they_o have_v god_n sanctify_v thy_o heart_n by_o his_o spirit_n so_o as_o thou_o hate_v every_o wicked_a way_n and_o do_v desire_n and_o endeavour_n to_o obey_v god_n his_o will_n in_o all_o his_o commandment_n well_o then_o comfort_n thyself_o and_o cheer_v up_o thy_o own_o soul_n christ_n jesus_n will_v cover_v all_o thy_o sin_n they_o shall_v never_o be_v lay_v to_o thy_o charge_n but_o he_o will_v wrap_v thou_o in_o his_o own_o righteousness_n whereby_o thou_o shall_v appear_v fair_a and_o beautiful_a in_o his_o sight_n indeed_o many_o a_o poor_a in_o christ_n hate_v thy_o sin_n and_o pray_v often_o unto_o god_n to_o give_v thou_o power_n to_o withstand_v they_o use_v all_o godly_a mean_n to_o withstand_v they_o christ_n jesus_n will_v cover_v they_o and_o pass_v by_o they_o all_o as_o he_o do_v deal_v with_o david_n peter_n etc._n etc._n oh_o then_o how_o careful_o ought_v all_o man_n daily_a endeavour_n themselves_o to_o be_v the_o member_n of_o this_o society_n that_o so_o they_o may_v have_v a_o part_n in_o all_o these_o excellent_a prerogative_n and_o then_o howsoever_o the_o world_n do_v esteem_v of_o they_o count_v they_o the_o spirit_n and_o partly_o by_o the_o subtle_a policy_n of_o the_o devil_n who_o be_v god_n ape_n and_o so_o like_o he_o in_o many_o thing_n as_o that_o it_o be_v hard_o to_o discern_v his_o slight_n and_o falsehood_n wicked_a man_n false_a teacher_n lie_v prophet_n set_v such_o a_o face_n and_o show_v on_o their_o error_n and_o bear_v they_o out_o with_o such_o a_o countenance_n credit_n and_o authority_n and_o the_o truth_n be_v so_o neglect_v plain_a and_o simple_a tread_v under_o foot_n that_o it_o be_v hard_o for_o a_o man_n yea_o the_o true_a church_n of_o god_n sometime_o to_o discern_v where_o christ_n feed_v his_o flock_n 18.12_o 1._o reg._n 18.12_o when_o as_o elias_n be_v leave_v alone_o and_o baal_n four_o hundred_o and_o fifty_o prophet_n who_o can_v almost_o then_o discern_v the_o worship_n of_o god_n from_o idolatry_n when_o all_o be_v corrupt_v so_o when_o michaiah_n tell_v the_o truth_n and_o ahab_n have_v four_o hundred_o false_a prophet_n it_o be_v hatd_v to_o discern_v the_o truth_n of_o god_n from_o the_o lie_v of_o satan_n in_o christ_n time_n how_o do_v the_o scribe_n and_o pharisee_n confound_v religion_n dim_a and_o dazzle_v the_o truth_n for_o the_o which_o our_o saviour_n himself_o do_v often_o reproove_v they_o and_o in_o our_o time_n how_o do_v the_o papist_n labour_v to_o obscure_a religion_n how_o bold_a and_o impudent_a be_v they_o to_o defend_v idolatry_n
i_o but_o the_o voice_n of_o a_o stranger_n will_v they_o not_o hear_v this_o affection_n be_v in_o godly_a david_n o_o lord_n how_o amiable_a be_v thy_o tabernacle_n how_o do_v my_o soul_n long_o in_o their_o evil_a way_n and_o never_o say_v alas_o 2.2_o 1._o pet._n 2.2_o what_o have_v i_o do_v we_o must_v desire_v the_o sincere_a milk_n of_o the_o word_n as_o the_o infant_n the_o mother_n breast_n and_o as_o the_o hart_n do_v the_o river_n of_o water_n psa_n 42._o and_o as_o the_o church_n do_v here_o show_v i_o o_o show_v i_o where_o thou_o feed_v thy_o flock_n we_o shall_v do_v as_o the_o earth_n do_v in_o time_n of_o drought_n she_o open_v her_o mouth_n beg_v and_o gape_v until_o the_o lord_n send_v a_o rain_n the_o beggar_n never_o beg_v hard_o till_o he_o see_v his_o own_o want_n and_o then_o he_o will_v spare_v no_o time_n labour_n nor_o word_n so_o till_o we_o see_v our_o own_o want_n we_o will_v never_o seek_v for_o the_o spiritual_a food_n of_o our_o soul_n but_o
