friendly_a desire_n always_o to_o do_v well_o 57_o so_o have_v the_o will_n of_o malice_n malignity_n or_o wickedness_n give_v itself_o up_o into_o perdition_n viz_o into_o the_o fierce_a wrathful_a part_n 61._o note_n 61._o note_n further_a man_n shall_v prove_v or_o try_v himself_o in_o his_o desire_n for_o every_o man_n have_v these_o evil_a property_n in_o he_o whether_o he_o find_v a_o constant_a desire_n in_o he_o to_o mortify_v this_o poison_n and_o malignity_n whether_o he_o be_v enemy_n to_o this_o or_o whether_o he_o have_v his_o joy_n in_o this_o continual_o to_o bring_v this_o false_a poison_n into_o work_n viz_o in_o pride_n or_o state_n covetousness_n envy_n and_o unchastity_n in_o lie_v and_o deceit_n 62._o now_o if_o he_o find_v in_o himself_o that_o he_o have_v his_o joy_n therein_o and_o will_v fain_o continual_o bring_v it_o to_o effect_v then_o he_o be_v no_o man_n as_o he_o account_v himself_o to_o be_v but_o the_o devil_n in_o a_o strange_a form_n deceive_v he_o so_o that_o he_o suppose_v he_o be_v a_o man_n but_o he_o bear_v not_o god_n but_o the_o serpent_n image_n and_o be_v only_o in_o the_o outward_a kingdom_n a_o similitude_n of_o a_o man_n image_n so_o long_o as_o he_o continue_v in_o this_o property_n that_o this_o property_n be_v supreme_a lord_n 63._o but_o when_o he_o find_v the_o strife_n in_o himself_o so_o that_o his_o most_o inward_a will_n continual_o yea_o hourly_o strive_v against_o these_o evil_a property_n damp_v they_o and_o let_v they_o not_o come_v to_o †_o substance_n so_o that_o he_o will_v continual_o do_v well_o but_o find_v that_o these_o evil_a property_n hinder_v he_o that_o he_o can_v at_o
therefore_o all_o be_v sin_n and_o a_o contrary_a opposite_a will_n whatsoever_o the_o desire_n possess_v as_o its_o own_o for_o itself_o only_o be_v it_o meat_n or_o drink_n if_o the_o will_n imagine_v or_o set_v itself_o therein_o than_o it_o fill_v itself_o therewith_o and_o kindle_v the_o fire_n thereof_o and_o so_o another_o fire_n burn_v in_o the_o first_o which_o be_v a_o contrary_a
