kind_n that_o the_o fruit_n a_o new_a life_n not_o only_o a_o new_a habitude_n and_o fashion_n of_o life_n without_o but_o a_o new_a nature_n a_o new_a kind_n of_o life_n within_o new_a thought_n a_o new_a estimate_n of_o thing_n new_a delight_n and_o action_n when_o the_o word_n reveal_v god_n his_o greatness_n and_o holiness_n than_o it_o beget_v pious_a fear_n and_o reverence_n and_o study_v of_o conformity_n to_o he_o when_o it_o reveal_v his_o goodness_n and_o mercy_n it_o work_v love_n and_o confidence_n when_o it_o hold_v up_o in_o our_o view_n christ_n crucify_a it_o crucify_v the_o soul_n to_o the_o world_n and_o the_o world_n to_o it_o when_o it_o represent_v these_o rich_a thing_n lay_v up_o for_o we_o that_o bless_a inheritance_n of_o the_o saint_n than_o it_o make_v all_o the_o lustre_n of_o this_o world_n vanish_v show_v how_o poor_a it_o be_v wean_n and_o call_v off_o the_o heart_n from_o they_o raise_v it_o to_o these_o high_a hope_n and_o set_v it_o on_o the_o project_n of_o a_o crown_n and_o so_o be_v a_o seed_n of_o noble_a thought_n and_o of_o a_o suitable_a behaviour_n in_o a_o christian_a as_o in_o the_o exposition_n of_o this_o parable_n it_o be_v call_v the_o word_n of_o the_o kingdom_n seed_n a_o immortal_a seed_n as_o st._n peter_n call_v it_o spring_v up_o to_o no_o less_o than_o a_o eternal_a life_n this_o teach_v we_o one_a high_o to_o esteem_v the_o great_a goodness_n of_o god_n to_o these_o place_n and_o time_n that_o be_v most_o blessed_v with_o it_o psal._n 147._o 19_o 20._o he_o show_v his_o word_n unto_o jacob_n his_o statute_n and_o his_o judgement_n unto_o israel_n he_o have_v not_o deal_v so_o with_o any_o nation_n and_o as_o for_o his_o judgement_n they_o have_v not_o know_v they_o 2._o that_o the_o same_o dispensation_n be_v to_o be_v preach_v indifferent_o to_o all_o where_o it_o come_v as_o far_o as_o the_o sound_n can_v reach_v and_o thus_o it_o be_v very_o much_o extend_v in_o the_o first_o etc._n pray_v earnest_o to_o he_o that_o be_v the_o lord_n not_o only_o of_o the_o harvest_n but_o of_o the_o seed_n time_n and_o of_o this_o seed_n to_o make_v it_o fruitful_a this_o be_v his_o peculiar_a work_n so_o the_o apostle_n acknowledge_v 1_o cor._n 3._o 6._o i_o have_v plant_v apollo_n water_v but_o god_n give_v the_o increase_n 4._o hence_o we_o also_o learn_v the_o success_n to_o be_v very_o different_a this_o be_v most_o evident_a in_o man_n one_o cast_v into_o the_o mould_n and_o fashion_n of_o the_o word_n and_o so_o mould_v and_o fashion_v by_o it_o another_o no_z whit_n change_v one_o heart_n melt_v before_o it_o another_o still_o harden_v under_o it_o so_o then_o this_o be_v not_o all_o to_o have_v the_o word_n and_o hear_v it_o as_o if_o that_o will_v serve_v turn_n and_o save_v we_o as_o we_o common_o fancy_v the_o temple_n of_o the_o lord_n the_o temple_n of_o the_o lord_n multitude_n under_o the_o continual_a sound_n of_o the_o word_n yet_o remain_v lifeless_a and_o fruitless_a and_o die_v in_o their_o sin_n therefore_o we_o must_v inquire_v and_o examine_v strict_o what_o become_v of_o it_o how_o it_o work_v what_o it_o bring_v forth_o and_o for_o this_o very_a end_n this_o parable_n declare_v so_o many_o aâ—e_n fruitless_a we_o need_v not_o press_v they_o they_o be_v three_o to_o one_o here_o yea_o that_o be_v too_o narrow_a the_o odds_o be_v far_o great_a for_o these_o be_v but_o the_o kind_n of_o unfruitful_a ground_n and_o under_o each_o of_o these_o huge_a multitude_n of_o individual_n so_o that_o there_o may_v be_v a_o hundred_o to_o one_o and_o it_o be_v to_o be_v fear_v in_o many_o congregation_n it_o be_v more_o than_o so_o whence_o be_v then_o the_o difference_n not_o from_o the_o seed_n that_o be_v the_o same_o to_o all_o not_o from_o the_o sour_a neither_o for_o though_o these_o be_v divers_a and_o of_o different_a ability_n yet_o it_o hang_v little_a or_o nothing_o on_o that_o indeed_o he_o be_v the_o fit_a to_o preach_v that_o be_v himself_o most_o like_o his_o message_n and_o come_v forth_o not_o only_o with_o a_o handful_n of_o this_o seed_n in_o his_o hand_n but_o with_o store_n of_o it_o in_o his_o heart_n the_o word_n dwell_v rich_o in_o he_o yet_o howsoever_o the_o seed_n he_o sow_v be_v this_o word_n of_o life_n depend_v not_o on_o his_o qualification_n in_o any_o kind_n either_o of_o common_a gift_n or_o special_a grace_n
matter_n one_o will_v think_v small_a the_o eat_n of_o the_o fruit_n of_o a_o tree_n it_o be_v rebellion_n against_o the_o majesty_n of_o god_n cast_v off_o his_o law_n and_o authority_n and_o action_n and_o word_n but_o even_o every_o thought_n too_o must_v be_v subject_a not_o so_o much_o 5._o as_o think_v free_a every_o think_v bring_v into_o captivity_n as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v even_o there_o where_o it_o most_o contradict_v and_o control_v our_o own_o corrupt_a will_n and_o the_o law_n of_o sin_n in_o our_o flesh_n this_o be_v true_a spiritual_a obedience_n to_o study_v and_o inquire_v after_o the_o will_n of_o god_n in_o all_o our_o way_n what_o will_v please_v he_o and_o have_v find_v it_o to_o follow_v that_o which_o be_v here_o call_v the_o way_n of_o his_o commandment_n to_o make_v this_o our_o way_n and_o our_o business_n in_o the_o world_n and_o all_o other_o thing_n but_o accessary_n and_o by-work_n even_o those_o lawful_a thing_n that_o may_v be_v take_v in_o and_o use_v as_o help_n in_o our_o way_n as_o the_o disciple_n pass_v through_o the_o corn_n pluck_v the_o ear_n and_o do_v eat_v in_o pass_v as_o a_o by-work_n but_o their_o business_n be_v to_o follow_v their_o master_n and_o whatsoever_o will_v hinder_v we_o in_o this_o way_n must_v be_v watch_v and_o guard_v against_o to_o reject_v that_o we_o must_v either_o remove_v and_o thrust_v it_o aside_o or_o if_o we_o can_v do_v that_o yet_o we_o must_v go_v over_o it_o and_o trample_v it_o under_o foot_n be_v it_o the_o thing_n or_o the_o person_n that_o be_v dear_a to_o we_o have_v god_n still_o before_o we_o and_o his_o law_n our_o rule_n in_o all_o we_o do_v that_o he_o may_v be_v our_o meditation_n day_n and_o night_n and_o that_o his_o law_n may_v be_v our_o counsellor_n as_o this_o psalm_n have_v it_o to_o regulate_v all_o our_o design_n and_o the_o work_n of_o our_o calling_n by_o it_o to_o walk_v sober_o and_o godly_a and_o righteous_o in_o this_o present_a world_n to_o curb_v and_o cross_v our_o own_o will_n where_o they_o cross_a god_n to_o deny_v ourselves_o our_o own_o humour_n and_o pride_n our_o passion_n and_o pleasure_n to_o have_v all_o those_o subdue_v and_o bring_v under_o by_o the_o power_n of_o the_o law_n of_o love_n within_o we_o this_o and_o nothing_o below_o this_o be_v the_o end_n of_o religion_n alas_o among_o multitude_n that_o be_v call_v christian_n some_o there_o may_v be_v that_o speak_v and_o appear_v like_o it_o yet_o how_o few_o be_v there_o that_o make_v this_o their_o business_n and_o aspire_v to_o this_o the_o way_n of_o god_n commandment_n his_o intend_a course_n in_o this_o way_n he_o express_v by_o run_v it_o be_v good_a to_o be_v in_o this_o way_n even_o in_o the_o â—lowest_a motion_n
