man_n and_o woman_n although_o they_o have_v offend_v the_o creature_n yet_o they_o run_v to_o god_n only_o to_o seek_v remission_n and_o indeed_o this_o be_v the_o right_a way_n for_o why_o it_o be_v only_a god_n that_o can_v forgive_v they_o their_o sin_n although_o they_o have_v offend_v man_n &_o woman_n there_o be_v no_o man_n nor_o woman_n that_o be_v able_a to_o purge_v theâ—r_a conscience_n to_o take_v away_o the_o guiltiness_n of_o sin_n in_o their_o conscience_n it_o be_v only_a god_n who_o by_o the_o virtue_n of_o the_o blood_n of_o his_o son_n do_v purge_v the_o conscience_n therefore_o they_o address_v they_o to_o god_n only_o proper_o also_o it_o be_v he_o who_o they_o have_v offend_v for_o as_o for_o man_n and_o woman_n they_o may_v escape_v their_o eye_n but_o it_o be_v not_o possible_a that_o they_o can_v escape_v the_o all-seeing_a eye_n of_o god_n who_o see_v the_o sin_n of_o the_o heart_n as_o well_o as_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o body_n therefore_o in_o respect_n of_o his_o all-seeing_a eye_n it_o become_v they_o special_o to_o have_v recourse_n to_o he_o &_o to_o address_v they_o to_o he_o only_o this_o be_v call_v the_o godly_a sorrow_n in_o this_o part_n you_o have_v only_o this_o to_o beware_v of_o repentance_n for_o the_o devil_n be_v ever_o ready_a at_o thy_o hand_n and_o this_o caution_n be_v not_o only_o necessary_a for_o a_o hard_a wilful_a heart_n but_o if_o man_n and_o woman_n through_o the_o weightinesse_n of_o their_o sin_n conceive_v overdeep_a sorrow_n in_o their_o heart_n in_o this_o case_n they_o will_v be_v help_v for_o i_o say_v at_o that_o time_n the_o devil_n be_v present_a and_o so_o soon_o as_o he_o perceive_v thou_o beat_v down_o with_o the_o consideration_n of_o thy_o own_o sin_n that_o thou_o be_v as_o it_o be_v present_o in_o the_o pit_n of_o hell_n than_o he_o be_v busy_a to_o make_v thou_o to_o doubt_v to_o make_v thou_o to_o despair_v and_o to_o make_v thou_o to_o think_v that_o thy_o sin_n be_v so_o many_o so_o ugly_a and_o so_o great_a that_o the_o lord_n will_v never_o forgive_v they_o and_o cast_v in_o this_o or_o that_o stay_n before_o thou_o to_o terrify_v thou_o that_o thou_o come_v not_o to_o seek_v grace_n at_o the_o throne_n of_o grace_n therefore_o man_n shall_v in_o this_o point_n take_v heed_n to_o themselves_o they_o shall_v remit_v their_o cogitation_n &_o not_o hold_v it_o her_o sting_n be_v she_o not_o sanctify_v to_o we_o in_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n and_o be_v she_o not_o make_v to_o we_o a_o entry_n to_o everlasting_a felicity_n be_v she_o not_o a_o return_v from_o our_o banishment_n and_o pass_v to_o our_o everlasting_a heaven_n so_o look_v on_o death_n not_o in_o the_o own_o nature_n but_o as_o she_o be_v make_v to_o we_o in_o christ_n at_o the_o voice_n of_o death_n we_o ought_v to_o lift_v up_o our_o eye_n and_o be_v glad_a that_o the_o redemption_n of_o our_o soul_n be_v so_o near_o when_o the_o separation_n shall_v be_v make_v &_o the_o lord_n shall_v call_v on_o we_o we_o ought_v to_o rejoice_v see_v he_o have_v make_v death_n to_o we_o a_o further_a step_n to_o joy_n and_o a_o mean_n of_o a_o strict_a conjunction_n but_o it_o be_v not_o possible_a that_o word_n can_v make_v man_n prepare_v they_o for_o death_n the_o ready_a way_n to_o eschew_v the_o horror_n of_o death_n be_v to_o think_v upon_o death_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o of_o all_o the_o great_a spectacle_n that_o we_o see_v daily_o we_o be_v never_o a_o hair_n move_v always_o the_o ready_a way_n as_o i_o have_v say_v be_v to_o take_v up_o such_o a_o life_n present_o as_o may_v best_o agree_v with_o that_o life_n which_o we_o aspire_v unto_o thou_o must_v take_v up_o a_o new_a course_n thou_o must_v conform_v thy_o life_n here_o with_o the_o life_n to_o come_v that_o a_o harmony_n be_v betwixt_o the_o two_o life_n death_n may_v be_v to_o thou_o a_o entry_n to_o that_o everlasting_a joy_n thou_o must_v bid_v all_o thy_o foul_a affection_n good_a night_n for_o thou_o and_o they_o can_v come_v both_o to_o heaven_n thou_o must_v bid_v sin_n whereunto_o thou_o be_v a_o slave_n and_o a_o ordinary_a servant_n farewell_n for_o except_o thou_o be_v this_o way_n alter_v thou_o must_v not_o think_v that_o death_n shall_v be_v to_o thou_o a_o passage_n to_o heaven_n then_o learn_v you_o that_o will_v have_v death_n pleasant_a so_o to_o rule_v and_o square_v this_o life_n that_o it_o may_v agree_v in_o some_o measure_n with_o the_o life_n to_o come_v omission_n the_o second_o omission_n that_o appear_v in_o this_o denunciation_n be_v this_o â—t_z seem_v to_o be_v superfluous_a for_o why_o the_o kind_a of_o plague_n assure_v he_o of_o his_o death_n the_o physician_n assure_v he_o the_o weakness_n of_o his_o own_o nature_n assure_v he_o that_o he_o shall_v die_v so_o the_o denunciation_n seem_v to_o be_v superfluous_a but_o it_o be_v not_o superfluous_a in_o deed_n if_o we_o shall_v examine_v our_o own_o nature_n how_o loath_a all_o man_n be_v to_o die_v for_o we_o know_v by_o experience_n that_o there_o be_v some_o who_o will_v scarce_o take_v death_n to_o they_o even_o at_o the_o last_o gasp_n and_o what_o love_n we_o have_v to_o this_o life_n it_o be_v know_v to_o all_o man_n therefore_o the_o prophet_n so_o strict_o denounce_v death_n that_o by_o this_o strict_a denunciation_n the_o king_n may_v be_v move_v to_o lift_v his_o hope_n above_o nature_n and_o all_o natural_a mean_n and_o of_o god_n only_o to_o seek_v support_v where_o nature_n have_v deny_v he_o and_o so_o the_o denunciation_n be_v not_o superfluous_a it_o be_v the_o ready_a way_n to_o make_v he_o run_v unto_o the_o right_a way_n now_o the_o last_o omission_n that_o appear_v in_o this_o denunciation_n be_v this_o the_o lord_n seem_v by_o his_o prophet_n to_o dissemble_v omission_n for_o be_v not_o this_o a_o high_a dissimulation_n to_o say_v that_o he_o shall_v die_v and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o to_o mean_v the_o contrary_a so_o there_o appear_v a_o great_a dissimulation_n on_o god_n part_v denounce_v by_o his_o prophet_n that_o he_o shall_v die_v instant_o and_o yet_o he_o be_v of_o mind_n that_o he_o shall_v live_v fifteen_o year_n after_o this_o to_o answer_v unto_o this_o this_o general_n must_v be_v lay_v down_o for_o a_o ground_n that_o unto_o all_o the_o threaten_n and_o promise_n of_o god_n there_o be_v a_o condition_n annex_v which_o condition_n be_v either_o secret_o enclose_v in_o the_o promise_n or_o threaten_a or_o else_o it_o be_v open_o express_v that_o this_o be_v true_a see_v ezechiel_n the_o 18.1_o and_o dan_o 4.27_o this_o condition_n have_v place_n then_o this_o be_v the_o nature_n of_o the_o threaten_n of_o god_n this_o terrible_a denunciation_n how_o terrible_a soever_o it_o appear_v yet_o it_o have_v a_o condition_n in_o it_o to_o wit_n except_o he_o repent_v except_o he_o seek_v i_o and_o make_v his_o recourse_n to_o i_o by_o prayer_n for_o out_o of_o question_n the_o lord_n be_v of_o mind_n to_o punish_v niniâ—e_n except_o they_o have_v prevent_v he_o by_o repentance_n so_o i_o say_v all_o the_o promise_n and_o threaten_n of_o god_n have_v a_o condition_n annex_v which_o be_v either_o open_o express_v or_o covert_o to_o be_v understand_v and_o therefore_o the_o denunciation_n have_v a_o secret_a condition_n and_o this_o condition_n make_v the_o king_n to_o live_v for_o suppose_v it_o be_v simple_o propound_v yet_o it_o be_v not_o to_o bring_v he_o to_o despair_n but_o only_o to_o make_v he_o the_o more_o instant_a to_o sâ—eke_v grace_n &_o health_n at_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o live_a god_n now_o have_v i_o touch_v the_o greatness_n the_o time_n and_o the_o kind_n of_o the_o disease_n let_v we_o make_v our_o profit_n thereof_o for_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o this_o doctrine_n
natural_a light_n much_o more_o supernatural_a who_o think_v that_o the_o lord_n have_v take_v away_o his_o hand_n suppose_v he_o strike_v not_o indeed_o he_o have_v withdraw_v his_o hand_n to_o let_v we_o see_v the_o force_n of_o our_o prayer_n and_o to_o try_v we_o how_o we_o will_v use_v this_o benefit_n but_o see_v it_o be_v so_o high_o abuse_v if_o there_o be_v no_o other_o thing_n but_o the_o birth_n of_o iniquity_n wherewith_o the_o land_n be_v overburthen_v ere_o the_o lord_n want_v any_o mean_n to_o punish_v the_o committer_n and_o overseer_n of_o these_o iniquity_n he_o will_v rather_o punish_v the_o land_n from_o heaven_n immediate_o or_o else_o make_v it_o to_o spew_v out_o the_o inhabitant_n for_o suppose_v the_o lord_n spare_v yet_o he_o will_v not_o forgive_v this_o contempt_n but_o this_o spare_n be_v of_o the_o lord_n benignity_n he_o let_v they_o hoard_v up_o sin_n against_o the_o day_n of_o wrath_n i_o insist_v no_o further_o in_o it_o receive_v now_o follow_v in_o order_n the_o king_n thankfulness_n unto_o the_o lord_n for_o the_o benefit_n which_o he_o have_v receive_v and_o forsooth_o this_o king_n be_v great_o thankful_a and_o he_o have_v set_v down_o and_o leave_v in_o register_n his_o song_n of_o thankfulness_n to_o testify_v that_o he_o be_v not_o like_a to_o we_o he_o have_v set_v down_o a_o notable_a song_n of_o lamentation_n and_o thanksegiving_n that_o we_o read_v of_o none_o better_o in_o any_o king_n except_o that_o which_o be_v in_o the_o 51._o psal._n he_o have_v set_v down_o a_o song_n of_o lamentation_n to_o testify_v his_o infirmity_n and_o disease_n and_o he_o have_v set_v down_o a_o song_n of_o praise_n to_o testify_v his_o thankfulness_n towards_o god_n song_n this_o song_n stand_v of_o three_o part_n in_o the_o first_o part_n he_o let_v we_o see_v the_o great_a trouble_n and_o perplexity_n whereinto_o he_o be_v fall_v what_o he_o say_v and_o what_o he_o do_v in_o his_o trouble_n in_o the_o second_o part_n he_o make_v a_o rehearsal_n of_o the_o greatness_n of_o â—he_n benefit_n that_o he_o have_v receive_v and_o promise_v to_o put_v his_o trust_n in_o he_o to_o make_v his_o dependence_n on_o god_n and_o on_o no_o other_o in_o the_o three_o part_n he_o let_v we_o see_v that_o he_o be_v mindful_a to_o be_v thankful_a as_o long_o as_o he_o live_v and_o all_o his_o day_n to_o praise_v he_o and_o not_o to_o be_v forgetful_a of_o he_o i_o think_v these_o be_v the_o three_o part_n of_o the_o song_n life_n now_o ere_o we_o enter_v into_o the_o first_o part_n it_o be_v necessary_a that_o you_o understand_v the_o course_n of_o this_o king_n life_n and_o the_o manner_n of_o his_o behaviour_n in_o his_o whole_a life_n that_o mark_v the_o course_n of_o his_o life_n at_o least_o if_o you_o will_v not_o follow_v the_o course_n of_o other_o common_a christian_n you_o may_v learn_v to_o follow_v a_o king_n take_v heed_n then_o unto_o the_o course_n of_o his_o life_n in_o the_o 14_o year_n of_o his_o reign_n he_o be_v threaten_v by_o the_o king_n of_o ashur_n he_o be_v threaten_v by_o two_o sundry_a ambassador_n and_o god_n his_o master_n and_o he_o himself_o be_v in_o their_o face_n blaspheme_v after_o this_o in_o his_o great_a extremity_n what_o do_v he_o he_o and_o the_o prophet_n go_v to_o the_o church_n and_o address_v they_o to_o prayer_n this_o be_v one_o part_n of_o his_o exercise_n and_o upon_o his_o instant_a prayer_n what_o come_v to_o pass_v he_o purchase_v a_o wonderful_a deliverance_n and_o upon_o this_o deliverance_n what_o do_v he_o he_o and_o the_o prophet_n praise_v god_n so_o here_o you_o see_v prayer_n and_o praise_n be_v his_o chief_a exercise_n now_o he_o be_v not_o so_o soon_o deliver_v but_o he_o fall_v in_o the_o hand_n of_o a_o terrible_a plague_n and_o death_n be_v so_o present_a send_v to_o he_o that_o he_o see_v no_o outgate_n now_o what_o do_v he_o he_o and_o the_o prophet_n both_o pray_v i_o doubt_v not_o what_o follow_v upon_o this_o he_o be_v deliver_v what_o follow_v of_o the_o deliverance_n he_o and_o the_o prophet_n thank_v god_n so_o here_o also_o you_o see_v prayer_n and_o praise_n what_o further_o upon_o this_o deliverance_n he_o fall_v into_o pride_n &_o ambition_n he_o brag_v of_o all_o his_o jewel_n and_o treasure_n as_o if_o he_o have_v conquer_v they_o by_o his_o own_o industry_n what_o follow_v upon_o this_o the_o prophet_n threaten_v he_o upon_o this_o threaten_n he_o be_v humble_v after_o humiliation_n the_o prophet_n comfort_v he_o and_o upon_o his_o comfort_n he_o thank_v god_n and_o say_v the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v good_a but_o yet_o let_v there_o be_v peace_n and_o rest_n in_o my_o day_n now_o take_v heed_n to_o the_o whole_a course_n of_o this_o king_n life_n and_o you_o shall_v see_v his_o whole_a life_n to_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o fall_a and_o rise_v a_o pray_v and_o praise_v of_o god_n continual_o for_o as_o long_o as_o we_o carry_v about_o with_o we_o these_o decay_a house_n of_o clay_n as_o job_n say_v &_o be_v clog_v with_o they_o yea_o as_o long_o as_o the_o dregs_n of_o iniquity_n remain_v in_o our_o soul_n we_o shall_v be_v subject_a to_o a_o continual_a fall_n and_o rise_v by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o not_o of_o ourselves_o of_o the_o which_o this_o his_o continual_a pray_v and_o praise_v of_o god_n spring_v he_o pray_v for_o strength_n in_o his_o battle_n and_o he_o praise_v god_n for_o his_o victory_n and_o deliverance_n now_o take_v up_o the_o lesson_n and_o learn_v of_o a_o king_n what_o shall_v be_v a_o christian_n excercise_n exercise_n that_o see_v this_o mortality_n wherein_o we_o dwell_v &_o the_o corruption_n wherewith_o we_o be_v beset_v for_o our_o sanctification_n be_v but_o begin_v and_o very_o imperfect_a in_o this_o life_n make_v we_o to_o slide_v and_o see_v we_o be_v subject_a to_o daily_a trouble_n and_o our_o life_n be_v but_o a_o continual_a fight_n shall_v not_o this_o be_v our_o exercise_n continual_a pray_v and_o praise_v of_o god_n pray_v god_n for_o strength_n in_o the_o time_n of_o our_o fall_n and_o trouble_n and_o praise_v he_o for_o our_o victory_n he_o that_o shall_v follow_v the_o life_n of_o this_o king_n shall_v obtain_v the_o like_a end_n and_o suppose_v his_o life_n be_v a_o continual_a fight_n yet_o the_o lord_n shall_v ever_o raise_v he_o and_o comfort_v he_o with_o his_o spirit_n he_o that_o omit_v this_o exercise_n of_o prayer_n be_v most_o unhappy_a for_o if_o he_o crave_v not_o strength_n he_o be_v unworthy_a of_o rise_v there_o be_v none_o of_o we_o but_o we_o be_v all_o subject_n to_o this_o estate_n and_o therefore_o if_o we_o will_v rise_v we_o must_v pray_v yea_o pray_v instant_o and_o continual_o so_o i_o recommend_v prayer_n &_o praise_v unto_o you_o all_o thus_o far_o concern_v the_o course_n of_o the_o king_n life_n now_o to_o come_v to_o the_o first_o part_n of_o the_o song_n song_n in_o the_o first_o part_n he_o let_v we_o see_v the_o great_a trouble_n perplexity_n and_o perturbation_n of_o mind_n wherein_o he_o be_v he_o let_v we_o see_v what_o he_o say_v in_o this_o trouble_n ere_o he_o enter_v to_o the_o word_n in_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o 9_o verse_n he_o note_v the_o circumstance_n of_o time_n when_o he_o be_v cast_v into_o this_o trouble_n and_o perturbation_n of_o mind_n and_o forsooth_o the_o circumstance_n be_v worthy_a of_o note_v in_o the_o circumstance_n of_o time_n it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o cut_n off_o of_o my_o day_n when_o be_v that_o to_o wit_n at_o what_o time_n the_o prophet_n tell_v he_o that_o it_o behoove_v he_o to_o die_v then_o this_o trouble_n and_o perturbation_n come_v on_o i_o from_o the_o time_n he_o have_v once_o say_v it_o behoove_v he_o to_o die_v he_o fall_v into_o this_o fear_n suppose_v a_o godly_a king_n and_o as_o well_o report_v of_o as_o any_o other_o king_n in_o the_o scripture_n yet_o as_o soon_o as_o he_o hear_v the_o sentence_n of_o death_n pronounce_v he_o tremble_v and_o fear_v exceed_o and_o sure_o it_o can_v be_v otherwise_o for_o death_n be_v a_o violent_a separation_n and_o tear_v asunder_o of_o that_o which_o the_o lord_n have_v appoint_v to_o be_v conjoin_v to_o wit_n the_o soul_n and_o the_o body_n if_o the_o body_n have_v remain_v in_o the_o first_o estate_n and_o continue_v under_o obedience_n these_o two_o have_v never_o be_v separate_v but_o by_o reason_n of_o many_o evil_a man_n that_o have_v seek_v death_n and_o it_o be_v as_o true_a that_o there_o have_v be_v many_o good_a man_n that_o have_v seek_v death_n yet_o never_o one_o of_o these_o seek_a death_n for_o itself_o for_o it_o be_v not_o natural_a to_o seek_v the_o dissolution_n of_o ourselves_o but_o these_o evil_a man_n that_o seek_v death_n and_o put_v hand_n on_o themselves_o in_o their_o corruption_n urge_v the_o conscience_n so_o that_o where_o the_o conscience_n be_v urge_v there_o must_v be_v a_o fear_n and_o the_o more_o the_o conscience_n be_v urge_v the_o great_a be_v the_o pain_n and_o terror_n it_o be_v true_a that_o this_o fear_n be_v temper_v by_o faith_n that_o dwell_v in_o the_o soul_n and_o the_o hope_n of_o joy_n that_o dwell_v in_o the_o faithful_a soul_n hold_v this_o fear_n in_o awe_n that_o hope_v of_o heavenly_a joy_n so_o swallow_v up_o and_o devour_v the_o fear_n and_o make_v it_o to_o appear_v to_o the_o looker_n on_o that_o the_o soul_n have_v no_o fear_n but_o no_o doubt_n there_o be_v a_o fear_n and_o it_o be_v sure_a there_o be_v some_o grief_n it_o be_v only_o as_o i_o have_v say_v the_o hope_n of_o that_o heavenly_a joy_n that_o hold_v this_o fear_n in_o awe_n where_o this_o hope_n be_v not_o terrible_a be_v that_o fear_n wonderful_a be_v these_o terror_n great_a be_v that_o anguish_n of_o soul_n that_o be_v there_o so_o that_o i_o can_v find_v name_n to_o express_v it_o terrible_a it_o be_v to_o see_v the_o countenance_n of_o god_n in_o his_o justice_n there_o be_v no_o creature_n that_o can_v abide_v it_o terrible_a it_o be_v to_o see_v their_o own_o sin_n present_v themselves_o the_o ouglinesse_n and_o guiltiness_n of_o sin_n and_o beside_o all_o these_o to_o be_v leave_v destitute_a of_o hope_n it_o be_v not_o the_o least_o part_n of_o their_o grief_n and_o yet_o this_o be_v not_o regard_v for_o man_n will_v not_o rise_v to_o get_v faith_n if_o it_o shall_v cost_v they_o but_o a_o hour_n they_o will_v not_o come_v to_o hear_v the_o word_n this_o be_v a_o wonderful_a and_o miserable_a madness_n that_o be_v in_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n that_o he_o will_v never_o provide_v for_o hell_n until_o hell_n catch_v he_o death_n now_o to_o come_v to_o our_o purpose_n the_o less_o the_o corruption_n be_v the_o less_o must_v be_v the_o fear_n wherein_o then_o shall_v your_o exercise_n stand_v shall_v you_o not_o study_v to_o diminish_v this_o corruption_n for_o he_o that_o will_v be_v void_a of_o fear_n must_v travel_v to_o diminish_v this_o corruption_n that_o the_o conscience_n may_v be_v clean_o say_v he_o in_o his_o trouble_n and_o perturbation_n the_o effect_n of_o the_o thing_n he_o say_v be_v this_o first_o he_o say_v he_o see_v his_o own_o death_n prepare_v for_o he_o next_o because_o he_o be_v trouble_v with_o it_o and_o cast_v in_o a_o great_a perturbation_n he_o subjoin_v the_o reason_n why_o he_o be_v so_o grieve_v and_o as_o i_o may_v gather_v they_o they_o be_v three_o in_o number_n but_o ere_o i_o come_v to_o the_o reason_n i_o will_v tell_v you_o his_o own_o word_n which_o he_o say_v in_o time_n of_o his_o trouble_n he_o say_v i_o shall_v go_v down_o to_o the_o gate_n i_o be_o a_o mortal_a man_n and_o suppose_v i_o be_v a_o king_n and_o a_o glorious_a king_n yet_o i_o be_o not_o exempt_v from_o death_n and_o therefore_o i_o will_v prepare_v i_o for_o it_o he_o off_o his_o year_n as_o at_o the_o cut_n off_o the_o affair_n which_o the_o shorten_n of_o his_o year_n bring_v with_o it_o so_o there_o be_v two_o respect_n wherefore_o this_o king_n be_v so_o grieve_v at_o the_o cut_n off_o of_o his_o day_n the_o first_o because_o the_o work_n of_o reformation_n in_o church_n &_o policy_n which_o he_o have_v begin_v will_v cease_v and_o out_o of_o question_n this_o hasty_a cut_v off_o make_v he_o so_o well_o prepare_v in_o his_o heart_n to_o die_v as_o he_o will_v have_v be_v if_o he_o have_v have_v leisure_n so_o in_o respect_n he_o lack_v time_n and_o yet_o he_o be_v not_o so_o void_a of_o all_o preparation_n as_o common_o youth_n be_v that_o cast_v off_o all_o repentance_n to_o the_o last_o age_n think_v there_o be_v time_n enough_o before_o they_o in_o these_o respect_n that_o the_o work_n of_o reformation_n by_o the_o cut_n off_o of_o his_o time_n will_v be_v imperfect_a and_o in_o respect_n he_o shall_v not_o have_v be_v so_o well_o prepare_v in_o his_o heart_n therefore_o he_o be_v grieve_v at_o his_o death_n and_o say_v i_o be_o deprive_v of_o the_o residue_n of_o my_o year_n well_o to_o apply_v this_o unto_o our_o cause_n i_o think_v there_o be_v none_o but_o they_o see_v clear_o application_n that_o if_o we_o come_v not_o with_o better_a speed_n to_o the_o work_n of_o reformation_n than_o we_o be_v like_a to_o do_v i_o fear_v that_o we_o leave_v not_o this_o work_n only_a un-ended_n but_o un-begun_a for_o if_o this_o confusion_n of_o church_n and_o policy_n grow_v from_o day_n to_o day_n as_o it_o do_v without_o interruption_n as_o if_o there_o be_v not_o a_o king_n in_o israel_n i_o say_v if_o this_o confusion_n endure_v no_o question_n but_o the_o birth_n of_o iniquity_n shall_v so_o overburthen_v of_o the_o corruption_n that_o remain_v some_o fear_n must_v be_v and_o the_o great_a the_o corruption_n be_v the_o great_a fear_n fall_v upon_o the_o conscience_n the_o chief_a corruption_n that_o grieve_v we_o in_o the_o time_n of_o death_n be_v the_o love_n of_o the_o world_n the_o care_n of_o the_o world_n the_o inordinate_a love_n of_o flesh_n and_o blood_n so_o that_o he_o that_o will_v make_v himself_o void_a of_o fear_n must_v provide_v to_o rid_v his_o hand_n and_o his_o heart_n of_o these_o inordinate_a affection_n for_o experience_n although_o unhappy_a teach_v we_o that_o there_o be_v no_o man_n that_o can_v part_v with_o that_o he_o love_v without_o exceed_a grief_n and_o therefore_o in_o the_o point_n of_o death_n experience_n teach_v what_o it_o be_v to_o cast_v our_o affection_n on_o frivolous_a thing_n that_o sudden_o vanish_v so_o i_o say_v now_o it_o be_v time_n to_o rid_v your_o hand_n and_o purge_v your_o heart_n of_o such_o preposterous_a affection_n that_o death_n which_o unto_o other_o be_v so_o terrible_a when_o it_o come_v it_o may_v be_v a_o blessing_n unto_o you_o i_o show_v unto_o you_o that_o all_o those_o care_n be_v forbid_a good_n that_o there_o be_v some_o thing_n worthy_a of_o praise_n and_o commendation_n in_o they_o and_o some_o thing_n worthy_a of_o dispraise_n and_o reproof_n for_o so_o far_o as_o they_o flow_v of_o faith_n and_o of_o the_o good_a spirit_n of_o god_n no_o question_n they_o be_v worthy_a of_o praise_n and_o so_o far_o as_o they_o flow_v from_o the_o king_n unruly_a affection_n they_o be_v worthy_a of_o dispraise_n and_o sure_o it_o appear_v by_o the_o word_n that_o his_o affection_n have_v be_v somewhat_o unruly_a well_o the_o lesson_n that_o i_o gather_v be_v this_o be_v the_o profit_n that_o we_o reap_v of_o these_o preposterous_a affection_n they_o draw_v our_o love_n from_o god_n to_o the_o creature_n and_o ere_o these_o affection_n can_v be_v draw_v from_o the_o creature_n they_o bring_v such_o a_o grief_n unto_o they_o as_o it_o be_v another_o death_n therefore_o the_o thing_n that_o we_o crave_v be_v that_o you_o shall_v set_v your_o affection_n upon_o god_n the_o truth_n of_o love_n be_v in_o god_n and_o therefore_o it_o become_v you_o to_o bring_v your_o heart_n from_o the_o creature_n unto_o god_n and_o employ_v your_o affection_n upon_o he_o in_o who_o only_o be_v and_o his_o web_n as_o to_o the_o first_o similitude_n he_o say_v his_o life_n be_v to_o be_v transport_v from_o he_o like_o a_o shepherd_n tent_n look_v how_o the_o tent_n of_o shepherd_n be_v remove_v transport_v and_o remove_v so_o say_v the_o king_n he_o see_v his_o life_n to_o be_v subject_a to_o the_o same_o transportation_n it_o be_v know_v to_o you_o all_o that_o read_v history_n &_o uncertain_a then_o be_v the_o life_n of_o man_n here_o beneath_o there_o be_v nothing_o more_o subject_a to_o instability_n then_o this_o life_n which_o we_o live_v in_o this_o body_n for_o as_o to_o the_o nature_n of_o tent_n you_o see_v whether_o you_o call_v they_o tent_n pavilion_n or_o tabernacle_n all_o be_v one_o by_o experience_n there_o be_v nothing_o more_o unstable_a nor_o uncertain_a to_o dwell_v in_o then_o be_v a_o tent_n for_o why_o it_o lack_v a_o ground_n it_o lack_v a_o foundation_n and_o stability_n and_o in_o stead_n of_o a_o ground_n it_o lean_v only_o to_o certain_a pin_n which_o enter_v not_o deep_o into_o the_o earth_n and_o consequent_o by_o the_o light_a blast_n of_o every_o wind_n they_o be_v blow_v up_o and_o when_o the_o pin_n fail_v the_o tent_n fall_v so_o the_o king_n will_v teach_v we_o by_o this_o similitude_n that_o this_o life_n of_o we_o lack_v a_o ground_n lack_v a_o foundation_n and_o lack_v a_o stability_n and_o therefore_o the_o king_n in_o this_o comparison_n will_v send_v we_o to_o the_o life_n which_o have_v the_o sure_a ground_n foundation_n and_o stability_n he_o send_v we_o to_o that_o kingdom_n which_o as_o the_o apostle_n heb._n 12._o say_v can_v be_v shake_v by_o no_o kind_n of_o stormy_a blast_n and_o as_o i_o remember_v heb._n 11_o 9.10_o there_o in_o these_o verse_n the_o apostle_n make_v a_o flat_a opposition_n betwixt_o these_o tent_n that_o lack_v a_o ground_n and_o the_o city_n of_o god_n say_v that_o as_o tent_n and_o tabernable_v lack_v a_o foundation_n and_o ground_n so_o the_o city_n of_o god_n on_o the_o contrary_n have_v a_o ground_n and_o a_o foundation_n and_o in_o steed_n of_o one_o he_o call_v they_o in_o the_o plural_a number_n foundation_n look_v say_v he_o to_o the_o city_n that_o have_v the_o foundation_n who_o craftsman_n and_o builder_n be_v the_o god_n of_o heaven_n he_o expound_v himself_o what_o he_o mean_v by_o the_o foundation_n in_o the_o last_o verse_n where_o
