ourselves_o to_o fit_v ourselves_o for_o it_o by_o earnest_a prayer_n faith_n patience_n obedience_n etc._n etc._n because_o as_o i_o say_v we_o be_v uncertain_a of_o the_o time_n whether_o to_o day_n or_o to_o morrow_n young_a or_o old_a this_o year_n or_o the_o next_o whether_o in_o the_o day_n or_o the_o night_n whether_o in_o the_o house_n or_o the_o field_n whether_o among_o our_o friend_n or_o enemy_n whether_o of_o a_o linger_a or_o a_o sudden_a a_o mild_a or_o a_o torture_a disease_n by_o land_n or_o water_n by_o sword_n or_o famine_n or_o pestilence_n all_o be_v i_o say_v uncertain_a therefore_o we_o must_v prepare_v for_o death_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o certain_a uncertainty_n thereof_o reason_n 2_o a_o second_o reason_n to_o move_v we_o to_o this_o preparation_n ever_o undo_v therefore_o be_v careful_a to_o die_v well_o see_v it_o be_v but_o once_o to_o be_v do_v reason_n 3_o the_o three_o reason_n be_v the_o remediless_a state_n after_o death_n for_o look_v how_o death_n leave_v a_o man_n so_o shall_v judgement_n find_v he_o as_o long_o as_o a_o man_n be_v alive_a here_o upon_o earth_n there_o be_v hope_n that_o he_o may_v be_v convert_v repent_v of_o he_o may_v give_v a_o shrewd_a fell_v guess_n where_o it_o will_v fall_v for_o look_v where_o the_o great_a burden_n of_o bough_n hang_v or_o grow_v that_o way_n common_o the_o tree_n will_v fall_v and_o even_o so_o look_v which_o way_n a_o man_n thought_n &_o affection_n carry_v he_o in_o the_o course_n of_o his_o life_n the_o very_a same_o inclination_n will_v sway_v he_o at_o the_o hour_n of_o his_o death_n therefore_o a_o man_n must_v prepare_v to_o furnish_v himself_o with_o abundance_n of_o holy_a grace_n that_o they_o may_v oversway_v he_o in_o his_o lose_n from_o earth_n to_o heaven_n when_o he_o die_v refer_v all_o unto_o god_n and_o his_o good_a will_n and_o pleasure_n with_o holy_a david_n say_v i_o hold_v my_o peace_n and_o say_v psal._n nothing_o because_o thou_o o_o lord_n have_v do_v it_o death_n second_o a_o man_n must_v that_o will_v die_v well_o arm_v himself_o against_o the_o fear_n of_o death_n for_o a_o man_n can_v die_v well_o if_o he_o be_v afraid_a to_o we_o must_v learn_v to_o die_v for_o it_o must_v teach_v we_o by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o set_v the_o less_o by_o this_o world_n and_o all_o worldly_a thing_n tie_v surgeon_n when_o they_o come_v to_o cut_v off_o arm_n or_o leg_n they_o first_o tie_v they_o hard_o many_o day_n before_o and_o so_o stop_v the_o course_n of_o the_o blood_n that_o what_o they_o take_v away_o may_v put_v the_o patient_n to_o no_o pain_n even_o so_o must_v a_o man_n do_v first_o stop_v the_o course_n of_o these_o worldly_a pleasure_n whereby_o he_o may_v be_v enable_v with_o comfort_n to_o leave_v they_o all_o when_o god_n call_v he_o second_o it_o must_v teach_v we_o patient_o and_o fit_o to_o carry_v carry_v this_o great_a cross_n of_o death_n for_o a_o man_n that_o will_v inure_v himself_o to_o carry_v a_o great_a burden_n he_o must_v first_o inure_v himself_o to_o carry_v the_o lesser_a so_o it_o be_v in_o death_n to_o go_v through_o this_o courageous_o and_o well_o one_o must_v first_o accustom_v himself_o to_o bear_v the_o lesser_a cross_n and_o small_a trouble_n incident_a in_o this_o our_o frail_a life_n for_o if_o he_o can_v endure_v the_o small_a cross_n and_o as_o jeremiah_n speak_v run_v with_o the_o 5._o footman_n how_o shall_v one_o be_v able_a to_o endure_v the_o great_a affliction_n and_o run_v with_o horse_n in_o terrible_a overflowing_n thus_o he_o who_o will_v die_v well_o must_v die_v daily_o every_o cross_n trouble_n or_o change_v must_v be_v as_o a_o day_n of_o death_n unto_o he_o 7._o five_o in_o this_o case_n one_o must_v often_o pray_v unto_o god_n to_o take_v away_o the_o bitterness_n of_o death_n as_o the_o author_n to_o the_o hebrew_n speak_v christ_n practice_n be_v heb._n 5._o 7._o who_o in_o the_o day_n of_o his_o flesh_n when_o he_o have_v offer_v up_o prayer_n and_o supplication_n with_o strong_a cry_n and_o tear_n unto_o he_o that_o be_v able_a to_o save_v he_o from_o death_n and_o be_v also_o hear_v in_o that_o which_o he_o fear_v if_o then_o christ_n with_o many_o cry_n and_o strong_a tear_n pray_v god_n instant_o and_o earnest_o to_o take_v away_o that_o cup_n from_o he_o so_o must_v every_o true_a christian_a be_v content_a to_o go_v into_o his_o chamber_n or_o closet_n there_o hearty_o and_o earnest_o to_o pray_v unto_o god_n to_o take_v away_o lessen_v and_o â—…gate_v the_o bitterness_n of_o the_o pain_n of_o take_v much_o pain_n to_o die_v well_o have_v once_o attain_v the_o same_o the_o joy_n of_o so_o comfortable_a a_o passage_n at_o such_o a_o pinch_n will_v make_v he_o rejoice_v and_o think_v all_o his_o labour_n and_o pain_n well_o spend_v the_o next_o thing_n to_o be_v consider_v be_v second_o that_o there_o must_v be_v a_o holy_a disposition_n at_o the_o time_n of_o death_n for_o though_o a_o but_o if_o because_o of_o some_o covetous_a humour_n or_o neglect_v he_o let_v the_o bottle_n hang_v by_o neither_o taste_v or_o apply_v any_o remedy_n it_o be_v all_o one_o as_o if_o he_o have_v be_v without_o they_o so_o it_o may_v be_v with_o a_o man_n at_o the_o time_n of_o death_n he_o may_v have_v the_o warer_n of_o good_a wish_n by_o he_o prepare_v himself_o for_o god_n and_o pretend_v before_o hand_n to_o receive_v comfort_n in_o his_o sickness_n yet_o if_o he_o let_v they_o lie_v by_o and_o apply_v they_o not_o that_o be_v stir_v they_o not_o up_o in_o himself_o for_o all_o his_o preparation_n he_o may_v find_v little_a or_o no_o comfort_n at_o death_n therefore_o there_o must_v be_v a_o spiritual_a excitation_n and_o stir_v up_o of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n at_o that_o time_n the_o rather_o because_o that_o be_v the_o last_o act_n of_o our_o life_n the_o last_o part_n we_o shall_v play_v upon_o the_o stage_n of_o this_o world_n saint_n paul_n 1._o cor._n 15._o 26._o call_v it_o the_o last_o enemy_n that_o shall_v be_v subdue_v be_v death_n etc._n etc._n therefore_o because_o death_n be_v the_o 26._o last_o of_o our_o life_n we_o shall_v have_v a_o special_a care_n to_o act_n &_o perform_v that_o well_o a_o good_a mariner_n who_o have_v carry_v a_o ship_n care_n well_o two_o or_o three_o year_n through_o the_o rage_a sea_n will_v especial_o double_v his_o care_n for_o her_o safe_a land_n that_o she_o do_v not_o miscarry_v when_o she_o as_o ready_a to_o enter_v into_o the_o harbour_n even_o so_o a_o man_n who_o have_v well_o dispose_v of_o the_o little_a bark_n of_o his_o body_n fifty_o or_o sixty_o year_n through_o the_o troublesome_a sea_n of_o this_o world_n must_v have_v a_o great_a care_n to_o lay_v it_o down_o well_o at_o the_o day_n of_o death_n or_o else_o he_o shall_v stain_v all_o his_o former_a cunning_n and_o knowledge_n thus_o you_o see_v there_o must_v be_v a_o holy_a disposition_n in_o death_n which_o consist_v in_o six_o thing_n first_o that_o a_o man_n be_v willing_a to_o die_v when_o the_o time_n be_v disposition_n come_v that_o one_o do_v not_o then_o hang_v after_o the_o world_n and_o desire_v to_o tarry_v long_o when_o god_n will_v have_v he_o depart_v by_o appointment_n as_o a_o merchant_n who_o send_v his_o factor_n beyond_o sea_n to_o traffic_v for_o he_o he_o must_v be_v content_v to_o tarry_v there_o or_o return_v at_o his_o master_n pleasure_n so_o must_v we_o patience_n do_v because_o we_o be_v all_o servant_n of_o almighty_a god_n send_v hither_o into_o this_o world_n to_o be_v employ_v about_o his_o business_n as_o long_o as_o he_o will_v have_v we_o therefore_o when_o he_o send_v for_o we_o we_o must_v be_v willing_a and_o ready_a to_o come_v home_o and_o give_v up_o our_o account_n though_o we_o leave_v all_o behind_o us._n thus_o our_o bless_a saviour_n many_o a_o time_n deliver_v himself_o from_o death_n and_o danger_n he_o go_v into_o egypt_n he_o flee_v into_o the_o wilderness_n and_o many_o time_n avoid_v his_o enemy_n but_o when_o the_o time_n be_v come_v as_o we_o see_v john_n 18._o 4._o then_o 4._o he_o go_v out_o willing_o to_o meet_v with_o death_n so_o moses_n desire_v that_o he_o may_v go_v over_o jordan_n and_o tread_v upon_o the_o land_n of_o promise_n
but_o when_o god_n have_v deny_v he_o this_o request_n and_o tell_v he_o he_o must_v die_v in_o the_o wilderness_n he_o go_v as_o willing_o unto_o the_o place_n of_o his_o death_n as_o we_o do_v to_o
