direction_n let_v it_o be_v the_o daily_a care_n of_o thy_o soul_n to_o mortify_v thy_o fleshly_a desire_n and_o overcome_v this_o world_n and_o live_v as_o in_o a_o continual_a conflict_n with_o satan_n which_o will_v not_o be_v end_v till_o thy_o life_n do_v end_n if_o any_o thing_n destroy_v thou_o by_o draw_v away_o thy_o heart_n from_o god_n it_o will_v be_v thy_o carnal_a self_n thy_o fleshly_a desire_n and_o the_o allurement_n of_o this_o world_n which_o be_v the_o matter_n that_o they_o feed_v upon_o this_o therefore_o must_v be_v the_o earnest_a work_n of_o thy_o life_n to_o subdue_v this_o flesh_n and_o set_a light_n by_o this_o world_n and_o resist_v the_o devil_n that_o by_o these_o will_v destroy_v thou_o it_o be_v the_o common_a case_n of_o miserable_a hypocrite_n that_o at_o first_o they_o list_v themselves_o under_o christ_n as_o for_o a_o fight_n but_o they_o present_o forget_v their_o state_n and_o work_n and_o when_o they_o be_v once_o in_o their_o own_o conceit_n regenerate_v they_o think_v themselves_o so_o safe_a that_o there_o be_v no_o further_a danger_n and_o thereupon_o do_v lay_v down_o their_o arm_n and_o take_v that_o which_o they_o miscall_v their_o christian_a liberty_n and_o indulge_v and_o please_v that_o flesh_n which_o they_o promise_v to_o mortify_v and_o close_o with_o the_o world_n which_o they_o promise_v to_o contemn_v and_o so_o give_v up_o themselves_o to_o the_o devil_n who_o they_o promise_v to_o fight_v against_o if_o once_o you_o apprehend_v that_o all_o your_o religion_n lie_v in_o mere_a believe_v that_o all_o shall_v go_v well_o with_o you_o and_o that_o the_o bitterness_n of_o death_n be_v past_a and_o in_o a_o forbearance_n of_o some_o disgraceful_a sin_n and_o be_v much_o in_o the_o exercise_n of_o your_o gift_n and_o in_o external_a way_n of_o duty_n and_o give_v god_n a_o cheap_a and_o plausible_a obedience_n in_o those_o thing_n only_o which_o the_o flesh_n can_v spare_v you_o be_v then_o fall_v into_o that_o deceitful_a hypocrisy_n which_o will_v as_o sure_o condemn_v you_o as_o open_a profaneness_n if_o you_o get_v not_o out_o of_o it_o you_o must_v live_v as_o in_o a_o fight_n or_o you_o can_v overcome_v you_o must_v live_v loose_a from_o all_o thing_n in_o this_o world_n if_o you_o will_v be_v ready_a for_o another_o you_o must_v not_o live_v after_o the_o flesh_n but_o mortify_v it_o by_o the_o spirit_n if_o you_o will_v not_o die_v but_o live_v for_o ever_o rom._n 8.13_o

bind_v to_o hinder_v it_o and_o what_o his_o reason_n be_v you_o may_v better_o know_v hereafter_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n you_o have_v be_v better_o have_v look_v to_o your_o own_o duty_n the_o eight_o and_o twenty_o excuse_n how_o can_v i_o be_v save_v if_o christ_n do_v not_o die_v for_o i_o he_o die_v but_o for_o his_o elect_a and_o none_o can_v be_v save_v without_o his_o death_n answ._n to_o have_v stand_v which_o be_v not_o effectual_a so_o that_o you_o have_v not_o only_o christ_n offer_v to_o you_o if_o you_o will_v but_o accept_v he_o but_o you_o have_v daily_o and_o precious_a help_n and_o mean_n to_o have_v cure_v your_o will_n and_o cause_v you_o to_o accept_v he_o for_o neglect_n of_o which_o and_o so_o for_o not_o believe_v and_o so_o for_o all_o your_o other_o sin_n you_o just_o perish_v the_o one_o and_o thirty_o excuse_n alas_o man_n be_v a_o worm_n a_o dry_a leaf_n job_n 13.25_o a_o silly_a foolish_a creature_n and_o therefore_o his_o action_n be_v not_o regardable_a nor_o deserve_v so_o great_a a_o punishment_n answ._n though_o he_o be_v a_o worm_n and_o as_o nothing_o to_o god_n and_o foolish_a by_o sin_n yet_o be_v he_o natural_o so_o noble_a a_o excuse_n sin_n be_v no_o be_v and_o shall_v man_n be_v damn_v for_o that_o which_o be_v nothing_o answ._n 1._o it_o be_v such_o a_o mode_n as_o deform_v god_n creature_n it_o be_v a_o moral_a be_v it_o be_v a_o relation_n of_o our_o action_n and_o heart_n to_o god_n will_n and_o law_n 2._o they_o that_o say_v sin_n be_v nothing_o say_v pain_n and_o loss_n be_v nothing_o too_o you_o shall_v therefore_o be_v pay_v with_o one_o nothing_o for_o another_o make_v light_n of_o your_o misery_n and_o say_v it_o be_v nothing_o as_o you_o do_v of_o your_o sin_n 3._o will_v you_o take_v this_o he_o be_v out_o of_o your_o reach_n 2._o you_o may_v wrong_v he_o when_o you_o can_v hurt_v he_o and_o the_o wrong_n deserve_v as_o much_o as_o you_o can_v bear_v if_o a_o traitor_n endeavour_v the_o death_n of_o the_o prince_n in_o vain_a his_o endeavour_n deserve_v death_n though_o he_o never_o hurt_v he_o you_o despise_v god_n law_n and_o authority_n you_o cause_v the_o blaspheme_n of_o his_o the_o public_a good_a and_o the_o soul_n of_o other_o the_o four_o and_o thirty_o excuse_n but_o god_n nature_n be_v so_o good_a and_o merciful_a that_o sure_o he_o will_v not_o damn_v his_o own_o creature_n answ._n 1._o a_o merciful_a judge_n will_v hang_v a_o man_n for_o a_o fault_n against_o man_n by_o proportion_n than_o what_o be_v due_a for_o sin_n against_o god_n 2._o all_o the_o death_n and_o calamity_n which_o you_o see_v in_o the_o world_n come_v from_o the_o anger_n of_o this_o merciful_a god_n why_o then_o may_v not_o future_a misery_n come_v from_o it_o 3._o god_n know_v his_o own_o mercy_n better_a than_o you_o do_v and_o he_o have_v tell_v you_o how_o far_o it_o shall_v extend_v 4._o he_o be_v infinite_o merciful_a but_o it_o be_v to_o the_o heir_n of_o mercy_n not_o to_o the_o final_a rejecter_n of_o his_o mercy_n 5._o have_v not_o god_n be_v merciful_a to_o thou_o in_o bear_v with_o thou_o so_o long_o and_o offer_v thou_o grace_n in_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n do_v god_n will_v teach_v you_o better_o to_o difference_n between_o sinner_n and_o sinner_n the_o seven_o and_o thirty_o excuse_n but_o if_o christ_n have_v satisfy_v for_o my_o sin_n and_o die_v for_o i_o then_o how_o can_v i_o just_o suffer_v for_o the_o same_o sin_n will_v god_n punish_v one_o sin_n twice_o answ._n 1._o christ_n suffer_v for_o man_n in_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n but_o not_o in_o your_o person_n nor_o you_o in_o he_o it_o be_v not_o you_o that_o provide_v the_o price_n but_o god_n himself_o christ_n be_v not_o man_n delegate_n in_o satisfy_v and_o therefore_o receive_v not_o his_o instruction_n from_o we_o nor_o do_v it_o on_o our_o term_n but_o his_o own_o it_o be_v not_o the_o same_o thing_n which_o the_o law_n threaten_v that_o christ_n undergo_v for_o that_o be_v the_o damnation_n of_o the_o sinner_n himself_o and_o not_o the_o suffering_n of_o another_o for_o he_o it_o can_v therefore_o be_v you_o but_o on_o christ_n own_o term_n he_o die_v for_o thy_o sin_n but_o with_o this_o intent_n that_o for_o all_o that_o if_o thou_o refuse_v he_o thou_o shall_v die_v thyself_o it_o be_v therefore_o no_o wrong_n to_o thou_o to_o die_v for_o it_o be_v blood_n of_o christ_n can_v have_v prevent_v thy_o condemnation_n and_o that_o thou_o reject_v by_o infidelity_n and_o impenitency_n his_o suffering_n will_v have_v save_v thou_o if_o thou_o have_v not_o refuse_v he_o but_o all_o thy_o own_o suffering_n will_v yield_v thou_o no_o relief_n so_o much_o for_o the_o answer_n of_o the_o vain_a excuse_n which_o poor_a sinner_n be_v ready_a to_o make_v it_o shall_v go_v well_o with_o the_o good_a and_o ill_a with_o the_o bad_a but_o who_o shall_v be_v then_o account_v righteous_a and_o who_o unrighteous_a and_o on_o what_o term_n and_o ground_n by_o who_o they_o shall_v be_v judge_v and_o to_o what_o condition_n they_o know_v not_o the_o sentence_n in_o judgement_n will_v be_v 1._o either_o on_o those_o that_o never_o have_v mean_n to_o know_v
