the_o thing_n they_o converse_v about_o be_v high_a and_o therefore_o they_o be_v more_o noble_a and_o high_a than_o other_o man_n as_o some_o child_n of_o man_n know_v no_o other_o excellency_n than_o to_o eat_v and_o drink_v and_o play_v and_o be_v filthy_a and_o have_v nothing_o but_o that_o which_o the_o beast_n have_v but_o other_o to_o who_o god_n have_v reveal_v himself_o and_o have_v make_v they_o of_o such_o a_o noble_a nature_n that_o when_o other_o be_v in_o base_a act_n of_o uncleanness_n that_o know_v no_o other_o way_n of_o rejoice_v in_o time_n of_o joy_n but_o laugh_v and_o eat_v and_o drink_v and_o filthiness_n but_o other_o can_v get_v alone_o and_o there_o contemplate_v of_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o great_a god_n and_o their_o soul_n be_v open_v to_o god_n and_o god_n let_v in_o beam_n of_o himself_o to_o they_o and_o they_o let_v out_o beam_n of_o their_o love_n to_o god_n and_o their_o desire_n to_o god_n there_o be_v a_o intercourse_n between_o heaven_n and_o they_o god_n open_v himself_o to_o they_o and_o they_o open_v their_o soul_n to_o god_n and_o so_o enjoy_v communion_n from_o god_n and_o they_o because_o they_o have_v the_o life_n of_o god_n in_o they_o they_o be_v fit_a to_o converse_v with_o god_n for_o mark_v those_o thing_n that_o converse_v one_o with_o another_o they_o be_v such_o thing_n that_o must_v live_v the_o same_o life_n as_o now_o man_n can_v converse_v with_o man_n why_o because_o he_o live_v the_o same_o life_n that_o man_n live_v but_o man_n be_v not_o so_o fit_a to_o converse_v with_o beast_n because_o they_o live_v not_o the_o same_o life_n though_o some_o man_n live_v even_o the_o very_a life_n of_o beast_n as_o a_o beast_n can_v converse_v with_o plant_n but_o only_o devour_v they_o because_o they_o live_v not_o the_o same_o life_n but_o those_o that_o live_v the_o same_o life_n be_v fit_a for_o converse_v so_o if_o man_n do_v not_o live_v the_o same_o life_n god_n do_v he_o can_v not_o converse_v with_o god_n hence_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a man_n can_v converse_v with_o god_n because_o they_o live_v not_o the_o same_o life_n of_o god_n when_o you_o talk_v of_o converse_v with_o god_n it_o be_v a_o riddle_n to_o many_o man_n why_o because_o they_o be_v stranger_n to_o the_o life_n of_o god_n they_o have_v nothing_o of_o the_o life_n of_o god_n in_o they_o but_o it_o be_v strange_a to_o they_o therefore_o they_o can_v converse_v with_o god_n but_o now_o that_o which_o strike_v at_o this_o life_n and_o be_v the_o death_n of_o the_o soul_n be_v sin_n for_o sin_n be_v the_o death_n of_o the_o soul_n therefore_o ephes_n 2._o beginning_n you_o be_v dead_a in_o trespass_n and_o sin_n sin_n bring_v death_n he_o mean_v not_o a_o bodily_a death_n though_o that_o be_v a_o of_o those_o that_o live_v his_o life_n as_o before_o in_o look_v upon_o his_o image_n now_o much_o more_o when_o he_o can_v see_v his_o creature_n work_v as_o he_o himself_o work_v this_o be_v the_o delight_n of_o god_n to_o see_v his_o creature_n work_v just_a as_o himself_o as_o a_o man_n take_v delight_n to_o see_v his_o pictute_n but_o abundant_o more_o to_o look_v upon_o himself_o in_o his_o child_n and_o to_o see_v his_o life_n in_o his_o child_n that_o come_v from_o he_o to_o see_v it_o able_a to_o work_v as_o he_o work_v as_o suppose_v any_o artificer_n or_o one_o skill_v in_o navigation_n suppose_v he_o see_v a_o picture_n draw_v of_o navigation_n he_o take_v delight_n in_o that_o because_o there_o be_v something_o of_o himself_o in_o it_o but_o now_o suppose_v he_o have_v a_o child_n and_o he_o put_v skill_n into_o he_o and_o he_o see_v he_o work_v as_o he_o work_v and_o discourse_n about_o naval_a affair_n as_o he_o discourse_v this_o be_v wonderful_o delightful_a to_o he_o so_o when_o god_n shall_v see_v the_o same_o life_n in_o his_o creature_n that_o be_v in_o himself_o that_o he_o work_v and_o will_n as_o he_o do_v this_o take_v the_o very_a heart_n of_o god_n and_o this_o show_v the_o excellency_n of_o grace_n but_o sin_n be_v that_o which_o strike_v at_o this_o life_n of_o
god_n and_o bring_v death_n to_o the_o soul_n whole_o take_v away_o this_o life_n and_o be_v it_o not_o for_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n even_o one_o sin_n will_v take_v away_o this_o image_n of_o god_n for_o sin_n do_v it_o in_o adam_n and_o so_o will_v in_o the_o regenerate_v if_o it_o be_v not_o for_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n my_o brethren_n life_n be_v the_o most_o excellent_a of_o any_o thing_n as_o augustine_n say_v the_o life_n of_o a_o fly_n be_v more_o excellent_a than_o the_o sun_n it_o be_v his_o expression_n not_o i_o because_o the_o sun_n though_o a_o excellent_a your_o eye_n this_o be_v the_o three_o particular_a how_o sin_n be_v most_o opposite_a to_o man_n good_a more_o than_o affliction_n therefore_o a_o man_n be_v better_o bear_v the_o great_a affliction_n than_o commit_v the_o least_o sin_n because_o affliction_n never_o strike_v at_o the_o life_n of_o god_n nay_o many_o live_v not_o the_o life_n of_o god_n so_o glorious_o as_o they_o do_v sin_n consist_v as_o most_o opposite_a to_o man_n good_a be_v this_o because_o it_o lie_v most_o opposite_a to_o the_o last_o end_n for_o which_o man_n be_v make_v in_o that_o other_o passage_n i_o open_v before_o i_o show_v how_o sin_n oppose_v god_n in_o his_o own_o end_n &_o therefore_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o evil_n in_o sin_n but_o now_o i_o must_v show_v how_o sin_n oppose_v make_v thing_n though_o spiritual_a and_o above_o our_o natural_a reach_n to_o make_v they_o as_o low_o as_o i_o can_v but_o if_o there_o be_v some_o that_o do_v not_o understand_v i_o hope_v other_o do_v and_o such_o i_o hope_v will_v make_v use_n of_o what_o i_o speak_v for_o certain_o these_o thing_n i_o speak_v of_o do_v more_o declare_v the_o evil_n of_o sin_n and_o will_v keep_v a_o ingenuous_a spirit_n more_o from_o sin_n than_o all_o the_o evil_n and_o torment_n of_o hell_n it_o be_v more_o against_o man_n last_n end_n now_o we_o use_v to_o say_v the_o end_n and_o the_o good_a of_o a_o thing_n be_v the_o same_o that_o which_o be_v the_o last_o end_n be_v better_a than_o the_o thing_n itself_o therefore_o whatsoever_o strike_v at_o the_o last_o end_n be_v the_o great_a evil_n of_o all_o that_o be_v the_o happiness_n of_o any_o creature_n to_o enjoy_v its_o last_o end_n as_o thus_o the_o great_a good_a or_o the_o last_o end_n of_o a_o plant_n or_o a_o tree_n be_v to_o flourish_v and_o bear_v fruit_n and_o be_v sit_v for_o the_o service_n of_o man_n this_o be_v its_o end_n and_o what_o be_v the_o evil_a of_o a_o tree_n when_o it_o come_v to_o flourish_v and_o when_o fruit_n hang_v full_a upon_o it_o if_o it_o be_v blast_v and_o never_o come_v to_o attain_v to_o its_o utmost_a end_n to_o be_v serviceable_a for_o that_o for_o which_o it_o be_v appoint_v that_o be_v the_o evil_a of_o it_o and_o we_o account_v it_o a_o great_a evil_n if_o we_o see_v this_o flourish_a tree_n when_o it_o be_v full_a of_o fruit_n if_o before_o it_o come_v to_o maturity_n it_o be_v blast_v so_o look_v upon_o man_n end_n and_o if_o that_o be_v blast_v that_o be_v his_o great_a evil_n now_o the_o end_n of_o man_n be_v this_o to_o live_v to_o the_o eternal_a praise_n of_o god_n in_o the_o everlasting_a enjoyment_n of_o he_o god_n make_v the_o child_n of_o man_n for_o this_o end_n that_o they_o may_v eternal_o live_v to_o his_o praise_n in_o the_o eternal_a enjoyment_n of_o himself_o now_o if_o man_n be_v blast_v in_o this_o there_o be_v his_o great_a evil_n to_o blast_v man_n in_o this_o end_n for_o which_o he_o be_v make_v now_o no_o affliction_n do_v it_o all_o the_o affliction_n in_o the_o world_n do_v not_o hinder_v man_n from_o the_o attain_n to_o his_o end_n but_o sin_n come_v and_o direct_o oppose_v that_o end_n for_o which_o man_n be_v make_v and_o cross_v he_o in_o this_o excelleney_n of_o he_o in_o live_v to_o the_o praise_n of_o the_o infinite_a eternal_a first-being_a of_o all_o thing_n now_o before_o i_o can_v not_o show_v you_o the_o evil_n of_o sin_n but_o by_o show_v you_o the_o excellency_n of_o the_o image_n and_o life_n of_o god_n so_o here_o i_o can_v show_v the_o evil_n of_o sin_n be_v opposite_a to_o man_n last_o end_n but_o by_o show_v you_o the_o excellency_n of_o man_n last_o end_n now_o the_o excellency_n of_o man_n last_o end_n i_o mean_v the_o good_a god_n have_v make_v man_n for_o it_o appear_v in_o this_o 1_o it_o be_v such_o a_o kind_n of_o excellency_n as_o be_v worthy_a of_o all_o the_o good_a that_o there_o be_v in_o man_n nature_n or_o that_o man_n nature_n be_v capable_a of_o for_o the_o end_n and_o happiness_n of_o any_o thing_n must_v be_v that_o that_o must_v have_v as_o much_o excellency_n in_o it_o that_o all_o in_o the_o thing_n must_v tend_v to_o the_o make_n of_o he_o happy_a man_n nature_n be_v capable_a of_o the_o image_n and_o life_n of_o god_n now_o that_o which_o must_v be_v the_o happiness_n of_o such_o a_o creature_n must_v be_v worthy_a of_o such_o a_o excellency_n as_o the_o image_n of_o god_n and_o the_o life_n of_o god_n in_o man_n therefore_o it_o must_v be_v a_o very_a high_a and_o glorious_a excellency_n 2_o that_o which_o be_v man_n happiness_n and_o end_n be_v that_o which_o be_v worthy_a of_o all_o the_o way_n of_o god_n towards_o mankind_n now_o i_o beseech_v you_o observe_v this_o thing_n the_o way_n of_o god_n towards_o the_o child_n of_o man_n in_o bring_v they_o to_o his_o last_o end_n be_v the_o most_o glorious_a of_o all_o god_n way_n to_o any_o creature_n god_n do_v never_o manifest_v so_o much_o glory_n in_o all_o the_o world_n nor_o never_o will_v manifest_v so_o much_o glory_n to_o all_o eternity_n in_o any_o thing_n as_o he_o have_v manifest_v in_o these_o way_n of_o he_o to_o bring_v mankind_n to_o the_o attain_v his_o last_o end_n for_o which_o he_o make_v he_o now_o if_o god_n be_v so_o glorious_a in_o that_o way_n of_o his_o concern_v his_o work_n in_o bring_v man_n to_o his_o last_o end_n then_o certain_o that_o end_n of_o man_n that_o happiness_n man_n be_v make_v for_o must_v be_v very_o glorious_a because_o it_o must_v have_v so_o much_o glory_n and_o excellency_n in_o it_o as_o must_v be_v worthy_a all_o the_o glorious_a way_n
of_o god_n work_v towards_o he_o it_o be_v thus_o with_o man_n there_o be_v no_o wise_a man_n that_o do_v any_o great_a work_n manifest_v any_o great_a skill_n or_o lay_v out_o great_a cost_n but_o will_v do_v it_o for_o such_o a_o end_n as_o that_o end_n if_o ever_o it_o be_v attain_v shall_v be_v worth_a all_o his_o cost_n and_o skill_n and_o pain_n for_o a_o wise_a man_n to_o bestow_v much_o cost_n skill_n and_o pain_n upon_o a_o mean_a thing_n be_v absurd_a and_o ridiculous_a and_o no_o wise_a man_n but_o if_o he_o bestow_v much_o cost_n and_o pain_n and_o manifest_v much_o skill_n but_o he_o will_v be_v sure_a it_o shall_v be_v for_o that_o which_o if_o he_o attain_v to_o that_o he_o aim_v at_o it_o shall_v be_v worth_a all_o if_o a_o man_n be_v at_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o charge_n in_o a_o voyage_n he_o aim_v at_o such_o a_o end_n as_o may_v be_v worth_a his_o charge_n so_o when_o god_n above_o all_o thing_n lay_v out_o his_o wisdom_n power_n and_o mercy_n &_o goodness_n &_o faithfulness_n and_o set_v at_o work_n all_o his_o counsel_n to_o be_v lay_v out_o upon_o such_o a_o business_n as_o to_o get_v man_n to_o attain_v to_o his_o last_o end_n then_o certain_o man_n end_n and_o happiness_n must_v be_v worth_a it_o all_o and_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v a_o glorious_a thing_n god_n intend_v for_o the_o child_n of_o man_n to_o make_v they_o happy_a withal_o when_o the_o great_a counsel_n of_o god_n and_o way_n of_o god_n wisdom_n and_o power_n be_v so_o about_o this_o business_n of_o bring_v man_n to_o happiness_n now_o if_o there_o be_v such_o a_o glorious_a happiness_n for_o mankind_n then_o that_o which_o be_v most_o opposite_a to_o this_o great_a happiness_n must_v be_v very_o evil_a now_o sin_n direct_o oppose_v man_n happiness_n the_o end_n man_n be_v make_v for_o and_o thus_o you_o see_v the_o evil_a of_o sin_n when_o god_n come_v to_o awaken_v man_n conscience_n and_o enlighten_v man_n soul_n to_o see_v how_o sin_n cross_v their_o happiness_n more_o than_o any_o affliction_n they_o will_v choose_v rather_o to_o be_v under_o the_o great_a affliction_n than_o the_o least_o sin_n object_n i_o but_o it_o may_v be_v you_o will_v shall_v gnaw_v upon_o to_o all_o eternity_n five_o the_o evil_a of_o sin_n against_o a_o man_n good_a appear_v in_o this_o in_o that_o it_o be_v the_o defilement_n and_o corruption_n of_o the_o soul_n a_o rottenness_n in_o the_o soul_n affliction_n be_v not_o the_o filth_n and_o corruption_n of_o the_o soul_n the_o soul_n may_v be_v as_o clear_v from_o filth_n and_o corruption_n notwithstanding_o affliction_n as_o it_o be_v before_o man_n sin_v sin_n it_o be_v the_o rottenness_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o therefore_o such_o a_o kind_n of_o defilement_n as_o 1_o it_o defile_v all_o thing_n a_o man_n medle_n withal_o and_o all_o his_o action_n it_o make_v a_o man_n vile_a and_o defile_v every_o thing_n that_o come_v from_o he_o to_o the_o unclean_a all_o thing_n be_v unclean_a and_o impure_a worm_n of_o conscience_n that_o shall_v gnaw_v upon_o their_o spirit_n to_o all_o eternity_n now_o what_o breed_v this_o worm_n and_o supply_v it_o with_o matter_n no_o other_o but_o the_o corruption_n of_o sin_n in_o the_o soul_n for_o as_o with_o worm_n as_o the_o holy_a ghost_n make_v use_v of_o that_o meatopher_n that_o breed_v in_o the_o corruption_n and_o filth_n in_o a_o man_n body_n there_o be_v some_o worm_n that_o breed_v in_o the_o body_n which_o be_v deadly_a but_o out_o of_o what_o do_v those_o worm_n breed_v out_o of_o the_o filth_n and_o corruption_n of_o the_o body_n and_o the_o corruption_n of_o the_o body_n supply_v matter_n for_o the_o worm_n to_o gnaw_v upon_o and_o so_o in_o tree_n and_o timber_n there_o breed_v worm_n upon_o what_o do_v they_o breed_v but_o upon_o the_o corruption_n of_o the_o timber_n when_o it_o begin_v to_o rot_v so_o then_o worm_n breed_v out_o of_o corruption_n and_o live_v upon_o corruption_n so_o that_o worm_n of_o conscience_n that_o shall_v lie_v gnaw_v upon_o the_o soul_n of_o those_o that_o perish_v to_o all_o eternity_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o that_o which_o breed_v from_o the_o filth_n of_o their_o heart_n while_o they_o live_v here_o the_o worm_n breed_v therefore_o you_o that_o live_v a_o long_a time_n in_o sin_n old_a sinner_n gray_a head_a sinner_n though_o you_o do_v not_o feel_v the_o
