of_o god_n husbandry_n which_o be_v diverse_a according_a to_o the_o diverse_a nature_n of_o the_o branch_n for_o the_o unfruitful_a branch_n the_o hypocrite_n he_o carry_v himself_o towards_o it_o as_o beseem_v a_o good_a husband_n he_o cut_v it_o off_o that_o be_v to_o say_v he_o do_v by_o little_a and_o little_o separate_v he_o from_o jesus_n christ_n and_o from_o the_o benefit_n of_o christ_n with_o who_o he_o seem_v once_o to_o be_v unite_v cause_v that_o he_o lose_v the_o good_a thing_n he_o seem_v to_o have_v and_o so_o by_o fall_v off_o from_o those_o appearance_n of_o goodness_n which_o be_v in_o he_o he_o discover_v himself_o to_o have_v but_o counterfeit_v till_o proceed_v to_o great_a sinfulness_n at_o last_o eternal_a death_n do_v overwhelm_v he_o but_o for_o the_o fruitful_a branch_n the_o upright-hearted_n christian_n the_o lord_n deal_v with_o he_o be_v far_o otherwise_o he_o be_v alone_o purge_v or_o prune_v the_o hypocrite_n be_v himself_o take_v off_o from_o the_o vine_n the_o true_a christian_a have_v only_o something_o take_v off_o from_o he_o that_o he_o may_v very_o well_o spare_v be_v pare_v about_o to_o the_o remoovall_a of_o that_o that_o by_o continue_v upon_o he_o will_v have_v do_v he_o much_o hurt_n you_o all_o know_v what_o the_o natural_a prune_n be_v viz._n the_o cut_n off_o from_o the_o branch_n such_o unprofitable_a and_o overgrow_a twist_n leaf_n or_o the_o like_a as_o do_v no_o way_n benefit_v the_o branch_n but_o hurt_v it_o rather_o in_o cause_v the_o fruit_n thereof_o to_o be_v lesser_a and_o scant_a than_o it_o may_v be_v the_o thing_n signify_v hereby_o be_v the_o subdue_a of_o the_o corruption_n of_o god_n servant_n viz._n their_o pride_n passion_n self-love_n earthly-mindednesse_a voluptuousness_n and_o the_o like_a disorder_n which_o if_o they_o be_v not_o mortify_v they_o will_v run_v all_o out_o into_o a_o fair_a show_n of_o profession_n not_o at_o all_o fructify_a in_o a_o holy_a conversation_n but_o when_o these_o corruption_n be_v take_v away_o by_o diverse_a needful_a mean_n as_o the_o lord_n himself_o know_v the_o fit_a mean_n for_o he_o be_v but_o a_o ill_a vine-dresser_n that_o want_v his_o prune_a instrument_n then_o be_v that_o end_n obtain_v which_o god_n intend_v and_o then_o follow_v that_o effect_n wherein_o themselves_o rejoice_v viz._n they_o bring_v forth_o more_o fruit_n they_o become_v more_o rich_a in_o the_o work_n of_o the_o lord_n more_o plentiful_a in_o all_o godliness_n and_o righteousness_n and_o in_o all_o excellent_a service_n to_o god_n and_o man_n they_o do_v more_o good_a they_o live_v more_o profitable_o and_o seruiceable_o and_o be_v every_o way_n more_o abundant_a in_o all_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o spirit_n joy_n peace_n love_n righteousness_n temperance_n meekness_n goodness_n and_o the_o rest_n than_o ever_o else_o they_o will_v have_v be_v and_o thus_o
corruption_n but_o death_n at_o once_o with_o a_o most_o happy_a parricide_n as_o i_o may_v term_v it_o kill_v both_o itself_o our_o last_o foe_n and_o sin_n its_o mother_n our_o first_o foe_n and_o sorrow_n its_o sister_n our_o daily_a foe_n that_o one_o pang_n which_o pull_v away_o the_o soul_n from_o the_o body_n do_v also_o pull_v away_o sin_n both_o from_o the_o soul_n and_o the_o body_n o_o most_o desirable_a pang_n and_o worthy_a to_o be_v thirst_v after_o more_o than_o any_o earthly_a thing_n job_n when_o his_o body_n be_v full_a of_o botch_n can_v say_v with_o much_o vehemency_n of_o passion_n why_o die_v i_o not_o from_o the_o womb_n why_o give_v i_o not_o up_o the_o ghost_n when_o i_o come_v out_o of_o the_o belly_n then_o shall_v i_o have_v lyen_fw-we still_o and_o be_v quiet_a i_o shall_v have_v sleep_v then_o have_v i_o be_v at_o rest_n he_o can_v in_o elegancy_n of_o speech_n commend_v death_n and_o say_v there_o the_o wicked_a cease_v from_o trouble_v and_o there_o the_o weary_a be_v at_o rest_n there_o the_o prisoner_n rest_v together_o and_o hear_v not_o the_o voice_n of_o the_o oppressor_n yea_o he_o say_v that_o a_o miserable_a man_n will_v long_o for_o it_o and_o dig_v for_o it_o more_o than_o for_o hide_a treasure_n and_o will_v rejoice_v exceed_o and_o be_v glad_a if_o he_o can_v find_v it_o this_o impatiency_n of_o life_n be_v no_o way_n worthy_a commendation_n it_o savour_v too_o much_o of_o self_n love_n to_o be_v good_a and_o allowable_a but_o if_o out_o of_o a_o holy_a impatiency_n of_o sin_n we_o can_v as_o feel_o take_v up_o speech_n of_o a_o like_a nature_n o_o how_o true_o may_v it_o witness_v with_o we_o that_o we_o do_v hate_v sin_n that_o we_o be_v enemy_n to_o the_o lust_n of_o our_o heart_n that_o our_o corruption_n be_v to_o we_o as_o imprisonment_n sickness_n pain_n captivity_n and_o so_o that_o we_o be_v sure_a of_o our_o part_n in_o christ_n goodness_n who_o come_v to_o preach_v liberty_n unto_o the_o captive_n very_o our_o soul_n be_v as_o full_a of_o hotche_n many_o of_o they_o as_o job_n body_n and_o it_o will_v hardly_o be_v better_o with_o many_o of_o we_o so_o long_o as_o we_o abide_v in_o these_o earthly_a tabernacle_n be_v we_o as_o full_a of_o spiritual_a life_n as_o he_o of_o natural_a and_o our_o soul_n as_o true_o endue_v with_o holiness_n as_o his_o body_n with_o sense_n we_o shall_v quiet_a region_n where_o worldliness_n and_o pride_n and_o wrath_n shall_v no_o more_o torment_v i_o and_o where_o my_o will_n shall_v be_v no_o more_o carry_v away_o with_o any_o fleshly_a perturbation_n i_o confess_v that_o this_o be_v the_o least_o part_n of_o the_o good_a that_o death_n bring_v unto_o the_o saint_n that_o it_o do_v utter_o dismiss_v they_o from_o the_o servitude_n of_o the_o flesh_n but_o be_v we_o so_o thorough_o spiritual_a as_o we_o shall_v be_v this_o will_v seem_v of_o so_o great_a worth_n with_o we_o as_o we_o will_v prefer_v it_o before_o all_o that_o the_o world_n count_v delightful_a the_o bridegroom_n will_v rather_o go_v to_o his_o grave_n then_o to_o his_o bride-chamber_n the_o traveller_n will_v rather_o lie_v down_o in_o his_o bed_n of_o earth_n then_o in_o a_o bed_n of_o down_o and_o every_o man_n will_v be_v of_o salomon_n mind_n and_o count_v the_o day_n of_o death_n better_o than_o the_o day_n of_o birth_n i_o confess_v that_o we_o must_v so_o far_o resign_v our_o will_n to_o god_n will_v as_o with_o all_o contentedness_n of_o mind_n to_o wear_v out_o the_o day_n of_o our_o apprenticeship_n and_o pilgrimage_n for_o so_o long_o as_o god_n have_v any_o service_n for_o we_o to_o do_v any_o where_o though_o the_o place_n and_o company_n be_v full_a of_o troublesomnesse_n yet_o shall_v we_o force_v our_o will_n to_o do_v he_o service_n with_o our_o own_o disquietment_n but_o yet_o a_o virtuous_a desire_n of_o be_v separate_v from_o this_o unhappy_a condition_n of_o life_n wherein_o we_o shall_v never_o full_o be_v separate_v from_o the_o sin_n that_o cleave_v so_o fast_o will_v be_v very_o commendable_a and_o very_o profitable_a the_o gaud_n of_o this_o world_n will_v not_o so_o easy_o beguile_v we_o the_o cumber_n of_o this_o world_n will_v not_o so_o fret_o gall_n we_o if_o we_o do_v dis-sweeten_a the_o one_o with_o make_v ourselves_o to_o taste_v the_o bitterness_n of_o our_o sin_n and_o dis-imbit_a the_o other_o with_o feel_v the_o far_o great_a bitterness_n of_o that_o which_o be_v as_o far_o more_o harmful_a than_o it_o as_o lead_v be_v heavy_a than_o cork_n then_o shall_v we_o prove_v ourselves_o to_o be_v man_n and_o woman_n of_o a_o discern_a spirit_n that_o can_v know_v of_o thing_n what_o be_v good_a what_o be_v bad_a and_o of_o bad_a thing_n what_o be_v more_o what_o be_v less_o bad_a then_o shall_v we_o show_v ourselves_o to_o approach_v near_o that_o height_n of_o grace_n which_o the_o bless_a apostle_n have_v who_o in_o relate_v of_o bond_n imprisonment_n hunger_n thirst_n nakedness_n whip_v stocking_n shipwreck_n and_o daily_o die_v never_o burst_v forth_o into_o lamentation_n but_o rather_o recount_v with_o joy_n that_o which_o be_v so_o painful_a to_o suffer_v and_o seem_v to_o be_v glad_a of_o life_n for_o nothing_o else_o but_o that_o by_o suffer_v more_o of_o those_o trouble_n he_o may_v do_v more_o service_n to_o the_o church_n and_o honour_n to_o christ_n but_o when_o he_o have_v occasion_n to_o declare_v his_o sinfulness_n the_o body_n of_o death_n the_o law_n of_o his_o member_n the_o rebellion_n of_o his_o flesh_n then_o only_o be_v hear_v bewail_v and_o cry_v out_o o_o miserable_a man_n that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o this_o body_n let_v therefore_o the_o feel_n of_o sin_n make_v our_o desire_n so_o earnest_a after_o full_a freedom_n from_o it_o that_o we_o may_v for_o this_o cause_n even_o breathe_v after_o death_n when_o there_o be_v none_o other_o adversity_n to_o distaste_v the_o comfort_n of_o this_o life_n unto_o we_o that_o by_o it_o we_o shall_v be_v set_v at_o liberty_n from_o the_o devil_n tentation_n the_o world_n affrightment_n &_o allurement_n but_o special_o from_o the_o corrupt_a lust_n which_o we_o both_o do_v and_o while_o we_o lodge_v in_o this_o dungeon_n shall_v carry_v about_o with_o us._n and_o let_v each_o of_o we_o say_v often_o to_o himself_o o_o that_o i_o be_v part_v from_o husband_n and_o wife_n from_o child_n from_o friend_n from_o land_n and_o good_n and_o from_o this_o world_n and_o all_o that_o in_o this_o world_n be_v count_v worth_n have_v so_o that_o i_o may_v also_o be_v part_v from_o my_o corruption_n and_o never_o more_o hereafter_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o prune_v fast_v and_o prayer_n will_v purge_v the_o word_n and_o sacrament_n will_v cleanse_v and_o all_o god_n ordinance_n and_o all_o our_o christian_a endeavour_n will_v help_v to_o lop_v off_o these_o disorder_a passion_n that_o be_v within_o us._n but_o this_o be_v alone_o a_o cleanse_n in_o part_n a_o pare_n off_o some_o evil_n and_o leave_v much_o behind_o only_o the_o last_o blow_n of_o death_n will_v make_v a_o full_a riddance_n of_o all_o that_o be_v evil_a in_o we_o and_o after_o that_o blow_n give_v there_o shall_v nothing_o remain_v behind_o that_o may_v call_v for_o any_o more_o purge_v this_o be_v the_o sovereign_a medicine_n that_o will_v consummate_v the_o cure_n of_o our_o disease_a soul_n which_o till_o then_o shall_v never_o be_v deliver_v from_o all_o disease_n though_o we_o be_v in_o christ_n as_o the_o vine_n and_o have_v god_n the_o father_n for_o our_o husbandman_n o_o then_o lord_n send_v thou_o this_o last_o enemy_n which_o may_v do_v i_o more_o good_a than_o all_o the_o former_a friend_n i_o meet_v with_o can_v do_v even_o work_v a_o
