danger_n which_o otherwise_o will_v ensue_v do_v show_v the_o necessity_n of_o the_o same_o the_o five_o and_o last_o reason_n to_o persuade_v we_o to_o this_o duty_n of_o preparation_n may_v be_v face_n because_o they_o will_v seem_v to_o make_v a_o covenant_n with_o god_n that_o god_n shall_v be_v their_o god_n and_o that_o they_o will_v be_v his_o people_n but_o when_o they_o shall_v seal_v this_o covenant_n as_o every_o christian_a do_v in_o this_o sacrament_n that_o come_v prepare_v thereunto_o they_o will_v not_o be_v bring_v to_o that_o this_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o to_o dally_v with_o god_n for_o a_o man_n to_o provoke_v his_o maker_n let_v not_o such_o be_v deceive_v god_n will_v not_o be_v mock_v if_o we_o do_v not_o sanctify_v ourselves_o and_o sanctify_v the_o lord_n lord_n table_n in_o a_o necessary_a duty_n that_o belong_v unto_o their_o place_n namely_o that_o they_o labour_v to_o help_v the_o poor_a people_n of_o god_n in_o further_a they_o instruct_v they_o and_o that_o in_o private_a as_o public_a and_o in_o use_v all_o other_o holy_a help_n and_o mean_n as_o preach_v note_n note_n private_a conference_n catichise_v &c._n &c._n that_o so_o they_o may_v fit_v they_o for_o the_o lord_n table_n and_o bring_v they_o to_o some_o competent_a measure_n of_o knowledge_n fit_a for_o this_o holy_a duty_n this_o be_v the_o charge_n the_o lord_n give_v to_o the_o levite_n 35.6_o 2._o cor._n 35.6_o that_o they_o shall_v sanctify_v themselves_o and_o prepare_v the_o people_n the_o lord_n lay_v this_o duty_n upon_o they_o they_o be_v call_v to_o that_o saviour_n not_o to_o do_v use_v 2_o second_o see_v no_o man_n must_v presume_v to_o come_v to_o this_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n without_o a_o serious_a examination_n and_o preparation_n of_o himself_o there-unto_a show_n what_o manner_n of_o person_n may_v not_o be_v admit_v there-unto_a this_o serve_v to_o show_v what_o manner_n of_o person_n may_v not_o be_v admit_v there-unto_a namely_o such_o as_o for_o want_v of_o skill_n and_o knowledge_n in_o the_o word_n can_v examine_v themselves_o and_o prepare_v themselves_o in_o some_o good_a measure_n that_o so_o they_o may_v be_v meet_a partaker_n of_o this_o holy_a mystery_n child_n child_n and_o such_o be_v child_n who_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o tenderness_n of_o their_o year_n can_v examine_v and_o prepare_v themselves_o they_o know_v not_o what_o it_o be_v to_o eat_v christ_n spiritual_o and_o the_o like_a may_v be_v say_v of_o mad_a man_n idiot_n mad_a man_n idiot_n idiot_n etc._n etc._n yea_o and_o such_o who_o though_o they_o be_v of_o ripe_a year_n and_o have_v the_o use_n of_o reason_n and_o do_v understand_v the_o doctrine_n of_o man_n redemption_n yet_o if_o their_o life_n declare_v that_o they_o be_v vain_a and_o profane_a such_o as_o be_v contemner_n of_o god_n and_o godliness_n note_v note_v such_o as_o be_v prophaner_n of_o the_o lord_n saboth_n drunkard_n swearer_n unclean_a person_n or_o such_o in_o who_o appear_v not_o the_o work_n of_o mortification_n and_o sanctification_n such_o can_v be_v interest_v into_o this_o sacrament_n none_o must_v dare_v to_o partake_v of_o this_o holy_a ordinance_n of_o god_n but_o only_o such_o as_o for_o knowledge_n can_v and_o for_o conscience_n

in_o we_o such_o as_o be_v the_o word_n sacrament_n prayer_n etc._n etc._n second_o beside_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christian_a religion_n in_o general_a sacrament_n rom._n 10.2_o particular_o in_o this_o sacrament_n there_o be_v further_o require_v in_o all_o worthy_a receiver_n a_o particular_a knowledge_n of_o this_o sacrament_n the_o nature_n of_o it_o as_o namely_o what_o he_o do_v receive_v how_o he_o do_v receive_v and_o why_o he_o do_v receive_v all_o which_o we_o have_v speak_v of_o in_o the_o former_a sermon_n use_v now_o then_o my_o brethren_n be_v this_o knowledge_n to_o and_o worthy_a receiver_n of_o this_o sacrament_n that_o all_o those_o promise_n which_o god_n have_v make_v unto_o his_o child_n pertain_v unto_o he_o now_o this_o faith_n stand_v in_o two_o thing_n as_o knowledge_n do_v for_o the_o faith_n that_o be_v require_v of_o the_o worthy_a receiver_n must_v take_v hold_v upon_o christ_n as_o he_o be_v offer_v in_o the_o preach_a of_o the_o gospel_n and_o so_o of_o his_o death_n obedience_n and_o resurrection_n whereby_o he_o come_v to_o have_v assurance_n that_o his_o sin_n be_v forgive_v he_o and_o he_o receive_v into_o favour_n but_o beside_o this_o there_o be_v another_o degree_n of_o faith_n require_v in_o this_o sacrament_n and_o that_o be_v as_o christ_n jesus_n have_v and_o do_v most_o true_o offer_v himself_o unto_o the_o true_a believer_n in_o this_o sacrament_n so_o the_o worthy_a receiver_n must_v be_v assure_v thereof_o and_o according_o take_v these_o outward_a sign_n as_o seal_n and_o pledge_n whereby_o his_o faith_n become_v more_o &_o more_o confirm_v then_o by_o the_o bare_a promise_n make_v in_o the_o gospel_n use_v whereby_o again_o we_o may_v see_v how_o many_o more_o unworthy_a receiver_n there_o be_v see_v that_o such_o as_o be_v not_o knit_v unto_o christ_n be_v stranger_n unto_o and_o altogether_o unacquainted_a with_o whereby_o as_o by_o the_o former_a we_o may_v see_v how_o many_o more_o be_v cut_v off_o from_o the_o number_n of_o worthy_a receiver_n even_o all_o ungodly_a person_n who_o though_o they_o have_v never_o so_o much_o knowledge_n and_o boast_v never_o so_o much_o of_o their_o faith_n yet_o
