here_o than_o thou_o see_v that_o virtue_n or_o power_n of_o faith_n which_o be_v the_o life_n or_o spirit_n of_o faith_n to_o be_v want_v in_o thou_o and_o therefore_o thy_o faith_n be_v dead_a but_o miracle_n be_v cease_v neither_o be_v they_o require_v any_o more_o thou_o say_v well_o those_o corporal_a miracle_n be_v cease_v either_o for_o man_n unbelief_n or_o for_o that_o they_o be_v appoint_v only_o to_o those_o first_o time_n of_o the_o church_n notwithstanding_o thy_o faith_n must_v not_o want_v virtue_n for_o if_o it_o do_v it_o be_v dead_a there_o be_v then_o even_o at_o this_o time_n also_o other_o miracle_n in_o the_o work_v whereof_o our_o faith_n must_v exercise_v her_o power_n if_o it_o be_v true_a and_o lively_a there_o be_v many_o devil_n still_o in_o we_o shall_v be_v whole_a that_o be_v thou_o shall_v teach_v they_o the_o true_a knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o of_o christ_n and_o they_o shall_v be_v free_v from_o the_o error_n &_o vanity_n of_o this_o world_n they_o shall_v speak_v also_o with_o new_a tongue_n that_o be_v to_o say_v where_o before_o they_o be_v blasphemer_n and_o all_o their_o word_n vain_a and_o unprofitable_a nay_o hurtful_a and_o pestilent_a now_o as_o though_o they_o be_v endue_v with_o a_o new_a tongue_n they_o shall_v speak_v nothing_o which_o shall_v not_o be_v refer_v to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o the_o profit_n and_o salvation_n of_o man_n and_o this_o be_v to_o speak_v with_o new_a tongue_n and_o thus_o if_o we_o be_v dispose_v and_o affect_v although_o we_o shall_v drink_v any_o deadly_a thing_n yet_o shall_v we_o not_o be_v hurt_v by_o it_o for_o why_o neither_o shall_v the_o world_n nor_o the_o flesh_n with_o the_o lust_n thereof_o no_o nor_o satan_n himself_o rise_v up_o against_o we_o to_o say_v whither_o he_o cast_v these_o devil_n first_o out_n of_o himself_o and_o second_o out_o of_o other_o for_o except_o we_o do_v this_o we_o deceive_v ourselves_o and_o have_v not_o that_o faith_n indeed_o which_o may_v join_v and_o couple_v we_o with_o christ_n for_o why_o this_o power_n or_o virtue_n be_v of_o the_o nature_n and_o substance_n of_o true_a faith_n for_o with_o out_o this_o it_o be_v dead_a so_o that_o like_z as_o if_o the_o soul_n or_o spirit_n shall_v return_v again_o into_o a_o dead_a body_n that_o be_v go_v to_o the_o grave_n the_o same_o will_v immediate_o wax_v hot_a stir_v move_v and_o do_v all_o other_o humane_a action_n and_o man_n will_v marvel_v at_o so_o great_a a_o miracle_n even_o so_o likewise_o if_o that_o dead_a faith_n whereby_o a_o man_n profess_v himself_o to_o know_v god_n and_o christ_n have_v this_o new_a virtue_n adjoin_v to_o it_o the_o man_n shall_v begin_v forthwith_o to_o flame_n with_o a_o divine_a love_n and_o that_o so_o fervent_o that_o he_o shall_v frame_v himself_o whole_o to_o the_o obedience_n of_o god_n and_o shall_v choose_v rather_o that_o his_o will_n may_v be_v do_v in_o he_o and_o by_o he_o than_o his_o own_o he_o shall_v trust_v in_o he_o and_o stay_v whole_o upon_o he_o and_o if_o it_o be_v so_o that_o he_o must_v suffer_v even_o extreme_a torment_n pain_n for_o his_o glory_n sake_n that_o be_v either_o loss_n of_o good_n or_o honour_n or_o credit_n yea_o or_o life_n itself_o he_o shall_v willing_o and_o glad_o do_v it_o and_o as_o touch_v his_o neighbour_n by_o the_o name_n of_o neighbour_n all_o man_n be_v understand_v he_o shall_v love_v they_o no_o less_o than_o himself_o and_o that_o not_o with_o a_o humane_a affection_n only_o but_o with_o a_o heavenlye_a for_o god_n cause_n who_o he_o know_v to_o require_v it_o at_o his_o hand_n and_o therefore_o thou_o shall_v never_o covet_v to_o hurt_v any_o but_o to_o profit_v all_o thou_o shall_v be_v ready_a to_o take_v wrong_a rather_o hurt_v or_o injury_v any_o kind_n of_o way_n and_o shall_v pray_v also_o for_o they_o that_o curse_v thou_o for_o they_o be_v blind_a &_o wot_v not_o what_o they_o do_v it_o be_v thy_o part_n &_o duty_n therefore_o to_o pray_v that_o they_o may_v have_v a_o new_a hart_n and_o the_o eye_n of_o their_o mind_n purge_v by_o faith_n yea_o too_o further_o they_o also_o with_o all_o manner_n of_o that_o idle_a and_o unprofitable_a faith_n whereupon_o it_o follow_v that_o this_o see_v it_o be_v dead_a be_v the_o cause_n also_o of_o most_o lamentable_a death_n and_o mourning_n unto_o man_n and_o that_o lively_a faith_n justifi_v and_o save_v man_n because_o it_o be_v not_o dead_a but_o endue_v with_o exceed_a great_a force_n not_o such_o only_a as_o whereby_o it_o remove_v mountain_n or_o woork_v some_o miracle_n but_o whereby_o it_o love_v god_n sincerelye_o and_o his_o neighbour_n also_o for_o his_o sake_n whereof_o paul_n to_o conclude_v speak_v thus_o 1._o corinth_n 13_o though_o and_o yet_o have_v not_o love_n that_o be_v to_o say_v conscience_n and_o duty_n both_o towards_o god_n and_o man_n thy_o faith_n be_v nothing_o but_o as_o a_o sound_a brass_n and_o a_o tinkle_a cymbal_n by_o these_o thing_n i_o suppose_v it_o appear_v sufficient_o what_o the_o true_a faith_n be_v and_o how_o far_o forth_o it_o differ_v from_o the_o dead_a it_o remain_v therefore_o only_o that_o we_o labour_v and_o endever_n that_o not_o be_v content_v nor_o decive_v with_o this_o we_o may_v embrace_v and_o hold_v fast_o that_o and_o use_v and_o exercise_v it_o as_o long_o as_o we_o live_v that_o when_o christ_n in_o the_o latter_a day_n shall_v give_v sentence_n of_o all_o man_n and_o of_o their_o faith_n and_o work_n we_o may_v hear_v he_o say_v
pleasant_a pasture_n and_o to_o the_o commodious_a water_n to_o drink_v and_o while_o he_o convai_v he_o not_o through_o rough_a place_n but_o through_o fair_a and_o plain_a way_n and_o all_o this_o say_v he_o he_o give_v unto_o i_o for_o his_o name_n sake_n that_o be_v to_o say_v free_o and_o without_o any_o duty_n or_o desert_n of_o i_o for_o what_o shall_v a_o poor_a sheep_n do_v whereby_o she_o may_v hind_n her_o shepherd_n to_o have_v so_o great_a a_o care_n of_o she_o and_o yet_o since_o he_o treat_v here_o of_o good_a man_n and_o of_o god_n their_o shepherd_n the_o similitude_n do_v to_o the_o use_n of_o himself_o and_o of_o his_o family_n but_o god_n seek_v no_o gain_n by_o we_o no_o commodity_n as_o he_o that_o need_v no_o manner_n of_o thing_n but_o refer_v all_o thing_n to_o our_o benefit_n nothing_o to_o his_o own_o which_o he_o respect_v not_o seeing_z he_o be_v most_o perfect_a and_o replenish_v with_o all_o good_a thing_n how_o then_o shall_v a_o wretched_a man_n or_o with_o what_o duty_n shall_v a_o woorm_n of_o the_o earth_n bind_v that_o most_o bless_a spirit_n unto_o he_o but_o god_n see_v he_o be_v best_o of_o all_o do_v not_o want_v till_o he_o be_v provoke_v by_o we_o for_o that_o he_o be_v of_o his_o own_o accord_n most_o ready_a and_o willing_a to_o do_v we_o good_a and_o therefore_o say_v david_n god_n besto_v all_o these_o benefit_n upon_o i_o for_o his_o name_n sake_n that_o be_v for_o his_o own_o sake_n and_o for_o his_o great_a goodness_n sake_n in_o the_o five_o place_n he_o say_v though_o i_o shall_v walk_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o use_v before_o describe_v his_o shepherd_n by_o his_o effect_n he_o will_v have_v say_v he_o deliver_v i_o our_o of_o danger_n but_o if_o the_o thing_n itself_o be_v attentivelye_o mark_v he_o say_v both_o thus_o much_o and_o somewhat_o more_o as_o we_o shall_v see_v anon_o further_o david_n may_v seem_v here_o in_o this_o place_n to_o commend_v not_o the_o diligence_n of_o his_o shepherd_n but_o his_o own_o virtue_n and_o strength_n i_o mean_v his_o constancy_n and_o couragiousnes_n of_o mind_n though_o i_o shall_v walk_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o shadow_n of_o death_n say_v he_o yet_o will_v i_o fear_v no_o evil_n notwithstanding_o it_o be_v not_o so_o but_o he_o refer_v all_o this_o to_o the_o praise_n of_o his_o shepherd_n as_o may_v appear_v by_o the_o reason_n follow_v for_o thou_o be_v with_o i_o of_o which_o we_o will_v speak_v strait_a way_n david_n therefore_o in_o this_o place_n say_v that_o god_n have_v so_o great_a a_o care_n of_o he_o that_o he_o take_v and_o deliver_v he_o out_o of_o danger_n and_o that_o he_o will_v always_o use_v the_o selfsame_o favour_n towards_o he_o hereafter_o and_o therefore_o if_o any_o thing_n happen_v unto_o he_o otherwise_o then_o well_o to_o wit_n if_o he_o wander_v like_o a_o lose_a sheep_n shall_v fall_v into_o any_o great_a danger_n and_o even_o into_o the_o very_a shadow_n of_o death_n itself_o yet_o he_o say_v he_o will_v fear_v nothing_o at_o al._n and_o because_o that_o this_o be_v a_o strange_a assertion_n for_o afore_o he_o have_v say_v he_o lead_v i_o to_o the_o pleasant_a pasture_n and_o to_o the_o quiet_a run_a water_n in_o this_o wise_a restore_v my_o life_n also_o he_o lead_v i_o in_o the_o plain_a path_n all_o which_o thing_n he_o have_v already_o prove_v by_o experience_n but_o now_o he_o say_v that_o in_o what_o peril_n soever_o he_o be_v plunge_v he_o shall_v continual_o be_v deliver_v by_o god_n of_o which_o some_o doubt_n may_v be_v make_v this_o than_o he_o fortify_v with_o a_o new_a reason_n for_o thou_o say_v he_o be_v with_o i_o thy_o rod_n and_o thy_o shepherd_n crook_n comfort_v i_o that_o be_v to_o say_v thou_o by_o thy_o special_a good_a providence_n and_o love_n towards_o i_o be_v always_o present_a with_o i_o and_o withal_o so_o gracious_a and_o merciful_a that_o therefore_o i_o need_v not_o to_o fear_v any_o evil_n in_o what_o danger_n soever_o i_o be_o set_v but_o he_o still_o persi_v in_o the_o similitude_n erewhile_o take_v from_o the_o shepherd_n and_o he_o imagine_v that_o god_n be_v arm_v for_o his_o defence_n and_o as_o it_o be_v some_o shepherd_n ready_o prepare_v with_o his_o sheep_n hook_n that_o be_v his_o shepherd_n staff_n to_o defend_v his_o sheep_n and_o therefore_o though_o i_o shall_v walk_v say_v he_o in_o the_o shadow_n of_o death_n or_o be_v in_o the_o very_a den_n of_o wild_a beast_n yet_o will_v i_o not_o be_v afraid_a because_o god_n be_v merciful_a be_v always_o present_a with_o i_o prepare_v with_o his_o sheephook_n to_o save_v &_o defend_v i_o if_o the_o proposition_n which_o be_v here_o also_o want_v be_v add_v it_o will_v be_v more_o apparent_a in_o this_o wise_a he_o for_o who_o defence_n god_n as_o a_o shepherd_n be_v prepare_v as_o it_o be_v with_o his_o shepherd_n staff_n have_v to_o fear_v nothing_o in_o what_o peril_n soever_o he_o be_v place_v but_o god_n say_v david_n be_v as_o a_o shepherd_n prepare_v with_o liberty_n or_o to_o the_o nature_n of_o thing_n contingent_a for_o like_a as_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o all_o thing_n that_o be_v past_a shall_v already_o be_v fulfil_v and_o yet_o
