dead_a i._n e._n that_o he_o do_v attain_v to_o a_o state_n of_o resurrection_n and_o here_o take_v notice_n of_o this_o by_o the_o way_n for_o consolation_n the_o great_a shepherd_n of_o the_o sheep_n do_v die_v but_o the_o great_a shepherd_n of_o the_o sheep_n rise_v again_o herein_o argue_v god_n love_n that_o though_o he_o will_v suffer_v he_o to_o die_v yet_o not_o to_o see_v corruption_n psal_n 16.10_o because_o he_o be_v the_o great_a shepherd_n therefore_o he_o must_v die_v but_o because_o he_o be_v the_o great_a shepherd_n therefore_o he_o can_v continue_v in_o the_o state_n of_o the_o dead_a death_n must_v not_o triumph_v over_o the_o great_a shepherd_n of_o the_o sheep_n no_o not_o by_o any_o mean_n as_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o he_o shall_v die_v much_o it_o be_v not_o altogether_o ascribe_v to_o this_o but_o through_o the_o blood_n of_o the_o everlasting_a covenant_n i.e._n by_o and_o in_o the_o virtue_n and_o efficacy_n of_o it_o he_o have_v die_v as_o a_o priest_n and_o his_o blood_n be_v a_o blood_n of_o sacrifice_n and_o it_o be_v shed_v for_o the_o remission_n of_o sin_n and_o salvation_n of_o soul_n because_o christ_n do_v die_v for_o so_o noble_a a_o end_n as_o this_o and_o in_o such_o a_o manner_n as_o that_o his_o death_n become_v a_o sacrifice_n and_o do_v seal_v the_o everlasting_a covenant_n wherefore_o christ_n be_v the_o everlasting_a covenant_n there_o be_v a_o temporal_a covenant_n god_n make_v with_o the_o people_n of_o israel_n and_o that_o be_v seal_v and_o confirm_v by_o the_o blood_n of_o bullock_n etc._n etc._n christ_n take_v not_o on_o he_o this_o covenant_n he_o do_v not_o bind_v man_n to_o stand_v by_o those_o term_n contain_v in_o the_o covenant_n for_o indeed_o christ_n come_v to_o make_v void_a there_o be_v a_o eternal_a covenant_n and_o that_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o those_o term_n of_o grace_n and_o favour_n which_o be_v propose_v to_o we_o in_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n which_o amount_v to_o this_o who_o ever_o repent_v shall_v be_v save_v he_o that_o repent_v and_o forsake_v his_o sin_n shall_v find_v mercy_n and_o that_o he_o will_v be_v merciful_a to_o all_o on_o these_o condition_n in_o all_o part_n of_o the_o world_n for_o these_o term_n god_n will_v not_o repent_v of_o if_o man_n repent_v they_o shall_v have_v the_o benefit_n of_o it_o and_o whoever_o believe_v shall_v be_v save_v it_o be_v call_v everlasting_a because_o god_n will_v abide_v by_o it_o both_o here_o &_o hereafter_o the_o state_n of_o all_o shall_v be_v determine_v according_a to_o provide_v for_o the_o justification_n of_o sinner_n through_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n that_o he_o will_v provide_v for_o their_o sanctify_v by_o his_o spirit_n hence_o observe_v 1._o god_n be_v the_o great_a shepherd_n of_o the_o flock_n and_o god_n be_v of_o a_o gracious_a disposition_n towards_o they_o provide_v to_o that_o end_n christ_n shall_v take_v care_n of_o they_o and_o to_o all_o those_o thing_n that_o pertain_v to_o their_o eternal_a welfare_n 3._o it_o be_v expedient_a this_o person_n shall_v die_v though_o the_o great_a shepherd_n nay_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o it_o may_v be_v so_o much_o more_o verify_v and_o manifest_v that_o he_o be_v the_o great_a shepherd_n of_o the_o sheep_n that_o he_o shall_v lay_v down_o his_o life_n for_o his_o flock_n 4._o it_o be_v own_o interest_n whosoever_o there_o be_v that_o may_v possible_o entitle_v themselves_o under_o the_o name_n and_o notion_n yet_o this_o be_v undeniable_a that_o christ_n be_v the_o only_a great_a shepherd_n of_o the_o sheep_n therefore_o in_o the_o concernment_n of_o the_o church_n there_o be_v none_o christian_n shall_v honour_v as_o christ_n and_o who_o voice_n they_o ought_v to_o hear_v before_o he_o or_o by_o who_o they_o shall_v be_v rule_v and_o govern_v but_o by_o he_o if_o christ_n be_v the_o great_a shepherd_n than_o the_o church_n must_v hear_v his_o voice_n for_o my_o sheep_n hear_v my_o voice_n etc._n etc._n and_o if_o he_o be_v the_o great_a shepherd_n than_o the_o church_n must_v be_v rule_v by_o he_o for_o the_o shepherd_n must_v have_v the_o order_n of_o the_o flock_n and_o the_o flock_n must_v be_v at_o the_o disposal_n of_o the_o shepherd_n and_o then_o three_o the_o flock_n of_o christ_n must_v be_v careful_a to_o please_v he_o for_o fear_n he_o set_v his_o dog_n upon_o he_o that_o we_o provoke_v he_o not_o to_o exercise_v his_o correct_a power_n he_o have_v his_o correct_a power_n he_o have_v his_o rod_n of_o discipline_n as_o well_o as_o his_o staff_n and_o crook_n which_o be_v to_o perform_v by_o other_o as_o seem_v good_a to_o he_o for_o he_o have_v many_o way_n to_o let_v loose_a the_o devil_n on_o his_o own_o child_n satan_n have_v a_o desire_n to_o afflict_v job_n and_o god_n give_v way_n to_o it_o etc._n etc._n the_o church_n of_o god_n be_v god_n spouse_n and_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o love_n between_o the_o husband_n and_o the_o wife_n between_o christ_n and_o the_o church_n yet_o psal_n 4.5_o this_o she_o be_v solemn_o charge_v withal_o god_n have_v make_v christ_n a_o head_n to_o his_o church_n therefore_o his_o church_n must_v be_v rule_v by_o christ_n and_o it_o be_v not_o for_o the_o church_n to_o say_v the_o inferior_a shepherd_n will_v order_v i_o thus_o and_o thus_o we_o must_v in_o the_o mean_a while_n say_v but_o what_o do_v christ_n say_v in_o such_o case_n it_o be_v not_o for_o the_o church_n to_o go_v aside_o by_o the_o flock_n of_o his_o companion_n cant._n 1.7_o the_o companion_n of_o christ_n pretend_v to_o be_v shepherd_n of_o the_o sheep_n as_o well_o as_o he_o but_o have_v not_o that_o power_n christ_n have_v they_o have_v their_o society_n and_o will_v have_v the_o order_n of_o they_o but_o the_o church_n desire_v to_o know_v where_o she_o may_v hold_v communion_n with_o christ_n that_o she_o may_v not_o turn_v aside_o by_o the_o flock_n of_o her_o companion_n there_o be_v many_o disputation_n among_o inferior_a shepherd_n but_o this_o be_v out_o of_o all_o dispute_n that_o christ_n be_v the_o great_a shepherd_n of_o the_o sheep_n that_o great_a man_n at_o rome_n never_o pretend_v high_a then_o to_o be_v the_o vicar_n of_o christ_n and_o successor_n of_o peter_n now_o we_o know_v that_o the_o principal_a be_v much_o more_o to_o be_v regard_v then_o the_o vicar_n therefore_o if_o christ_n be_v the_o great_a shepherd_n sure_o the_o sheep_n of_o christ_n must_v hear_v his_o voice_n before_o all_o other_o shepherd_n especial_o since_o christ_n have_v speak_v so_o signal_o in_o the_o case_n my_o sheep_n hear_v my_o voice_n and_o they_o follow_v i_o a_o stranger_n will_v they_o not_o follow_v for_o they_o know_v not_o the_o voice_n of_o stranger_n and_o god_n great_a shepherd_n of_o the_o sheep_n 2._o though_o he_o be_v the_o great_a shepherd_n of_o the_o sheep_n you_o he_o die_v and_o though_o he_o die_v yet_o because_o he_o be_v the_o great_a shepherd_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v spare_v if_o the_o case_n fall_v out_o while_o harbour_n to_o serve_v the_o church_n as_o i_o can_v i_o come_v to_o suffer_v for_o the_o church_n in_o the_o end_n i_o do_v rejoice_v and_o i_o will_v rejoice_v and_o true_o we_o have_v need_v to_o pray_v for_o such_o a_o spirit_n as_o this_o for_o if_o this_o be_v in_o the_o great_a shepherd_n of_o the_o sheep_n it_o will_v very_o well_o become_v the_o little_a shepherd_n but_o against_o the_o fear_n of_o death_n here_o be_v the_o comfort_n the_o great_a shepherd_n of_o the_o sheep_n die_v yet_o be_v raise_v from_o the_o dead_a so_o shall_v the_o little_a one_o not_o one_o member_n of_o the_o flock_n death_n can_v always_o triumph_v over_o he_o in_o this_o respect_n christ_n will_v have_v all_o his_o member_n to_o be_v raise_v in_o that_o he_o get_v the_o victory_n over_o death_n for_o christ_n arise_v as_o the_o first_o fruit_n and_o ascend_v into_o heaven_n as_o a_o forerunner_n though_o we_o
