unto_o thy_o people_n as_o aaron_n thy_o brother_n be_v gather_v for_o you_o rebel_v against_o my_o commandment_n thus_o you_o see_v these_o two_o great_a saint_n both_o punish_v with_o a_o most_o speedy_a death_n for_o that_o very_a sin_n of_o which_o they_o be_v admonish_v by_o god_n himself_o questionless_a do_v repent_v whence_o after_o this_o sin_n commit_v god_n do_v so_o familiar_o converse_v with_o moses_n from_o ch_z 20._o to_o 27._o by_o all_o these_o and_o a_o world_n of_o other_o such_o example_n it_o be_v make_v evident_a that_o upon_o the_o true_a repentance_n of_o the_o delinquent_n though_o the_o pain_n of_o eternal_a death_n be_v always_o forgive_v he_o yet_o often_o the_o delinquent_n remain_v liable_a to_o suffer_v temporal_a punishment_n even_o as_o in_o this_o world_n though_o upon_o the_o repentance_n of_o a_o delinquent_a deserve_a death_n the_o punishment_n of_o death_n be_v forgive_v he_o yet_o he_o be_v just_o make_v liable_a to_o suffer_v imprisonment_n or_o condemn_v to_o pay_v such_o a_o fine_a 9_o out_o of_o this_o principle_n it_o clear_o follow_v that_o there_o be_v a_o purgatory_n for_o see_v that_o a_o man_n may_v die_v before_o he_o have_v suffer_v or_o satisfy_v for_o the_o punishment_n due_a by_o divine_a justice_n unto_o he_o it_o do_v necessary_o follow_v that_o this_o punishment_n according_a to_o the_o same_o justice_n must_v be_v give_v he_o in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v not_o in_o hell_n because_o the_o sin_n be_v forgive_v he_o but_o yet_o in_o the_o prison_n of_o purgatory_n out_o of_o which_o he_o shall_v not_o go_v until_o he_o have_v pay_v the_o last_o farthing_n matth._n 5.26_o it_o remain_v then_o prove_v that_o this_o principle_n so_o well_o ground_v in_o scripture_n can_v be_v true_a unless_o it_o also_o be_v true_a that_o there_o be_v a_o purgatory_n 10._o i_o pass_v to_o the_o second_o principle_n teach_v that_o some_o sin_n be_v only_o venial_a deserve_v indeed_o some_o punishment_n but_o not_o eternal_a for_o as_o he_o be_v a_o tyrant_n who_o will_v punish_v every_o offence_n though_o it_o deserve_v but_o whip_v with_o a_o cruel_a death_n so_o we_o shall_v have_v too_o too_o hard_a opinion_n of_o god_n justice_n if_o we_o believe_v that_o for_o every_o merry_a lie_n for_o every_o idle_a word_n or_o passionate_a speech_n for_o every_o trifle_a away_o of_o a_o small_a time_n unprofitable_o for_o every_o vain_a or_o lazy_a action_n he_o shall_v punish_v the_o delinquent_n with_o death_n everlasting_a and_o the_o endless_a and_o unspeakable_a torment_n of_o hell_n fire_n if_o the_o person_n die_v without_o repentance_n as_o thousand_o must_v needs_o do_v who_o die_v sudden_o or_o out_o of_o their_o sense_n or_o in_o their_o sleep_n etc._n etc._n 11._o that_o there_o be_v such_o venial_a sin_n or_o small_a offence_n as_o these_o be_v which_o be_v true_o sin_n yet_o not_o mortal_a or_o damnable_a be_v clear_a out_o of_o scripture_n exod_n 1.17_o but_o the_o midwife_n of_o egypt_n fear_v god_n and_o preserve_v the_o man_n child_n contrary_a to_o the_o command_n of_o the_o king_n who_o question_v they_o for_o break_v his_o commandment_n they_o answer_v the_o hebrew_a woman_n be_v not_o as_o the_o egyptian_a woman_n for_o they_o have_v the_o knowledge_n to_o play_v the_o midwife_n themselves_o and_o before_o we_o come_v to_o they_o they_o be_v deliver_v god_n therefore_o do_v well_o to_o the_o midwife_n and_o because_o they_o fear_v god_n be_v build_v they_o house_n here_o you_o she_o the_o midwife_n tell_v a_o officious_a lie_n which_o be_v a_o sin_n yet_o this_o sin_n do_v not_o take_v from_o they_o the_o love_n of_o god_n or_o make_v god_n hate_v they_o but_o they_o even_o then_o fear_v god_n as_o the_o scripture_n say_v and_o he_o for_o this_o their_o fear_n exercise_v not_o in_o this_o lie_n but_o in_o their_o charity_n and_o mercy_n high_o reward_v they_o yet_o this_o lie_a be_v a_o sin_n divine_a justice_n can_v not_o but_o reserve_v some_o punishment_n for_o it_o though_o not_o eternal_a 12._o even_o so_o josue_n 2.2_o the_o spy_v send_v by_o josue_n enter_v the_o house_n of_o rahab_n and_o it_o be_v tell_v the_o king_n of_o jericho_n he_o send_v to_o rahab_n say_v bring_v forth_o the_o man_n that_o come_v to_o the_o for_o they_o be_v spy_n and_o the_o woman_n take_v the_o man_n hide_v they_o and_o say_v i_o confess_v they_o come_v to_o i_o when_o the_o gate_n be_v a_o shut_n in_o the_o dark_a and_o they_o withal_o go_v out_o i_o know_v not_o whither_o they_o be_v go_v pursue_v quick_o and_o you_o shall_v overtake_v they_o but_o she_o make_v the_o man_n go_v up_o to_o the_o roof_n of_o her_o house_n and_o cover_v they_o with_o the_o stalk_n of_o flax_n which_o be_v there_o here_o you_o have_v another_o officious_a lie_n but_o only_o a_o venial_a not_o a_o damnable_a sin_n by_o lie_v she_o sin_v venial_o but_o by_o that_o act_n of_o charitable_o hide_v the_o spy_n she_o please_v god_n for_o s._n paul_n say_v by_o faith_n rahab_n perish_v not_o receive_v the_o spy_n with_o peace_n hebr._n 11._o 31._o and_o s._n james_n chap._n 2._o v._n 25._o rahab_n be_v she_o not_o justify_v by_o work_n receive_v the_o messenger_n and_o put_v they_o forth_o another_o way_n after_o that_o she_o have_v first_o hide_v they_o of_o these_o kind_n of_o venial_a sin_n the_o scripture_n also_o say_v seven_o time_n shall_v the_o just_a fall_n and_o rise_v again_o prov._n 24.16_o for_o these_o small_a sin_n cast_v we_o not_o out_o of_o god_n favour_n wherefore_o by_o his_o grace_n we_o soon_o get_v
