reward_n according_a to_o his_o work_n in_o the_o hour_n of_o his_o death_n his_o meaning_n be_v this_o as_o saint_n gregory_n declare_v in_o the_o time_n when_o thou_o have_v either_o temporal_a or_o spiritual_a prosperity_n remember_v the_o affliction_n which_o may_v happen_v to_o thou_o either_o in_o body_n or_o soul_n that_o so_o thy_o prosperity_n may_v not_o make_v thou_o proud_a but_o that_o thou_o may_v be_v conserve_v in_o humility_n and_o so_o also_o in_o the_o time_n of_o thy_o adversity_n whether_o it_o be_v spiritual_a or_o temporal_a remember_v the_o blessing_n of_o grace_n and_o divine_a consolation_n which_o thou_o have_v enjoy_v at_o other_o time_n and_o those_o also_o which_o afterward_o thou_o may_v receive_v that_o so_o thou_o be_v not_o dismay_v nor_o overcome_v with_o sorrow_n but_o may_v suffer_v all_o kind_n of_o affliction_n with_o patience_n and_o courage_n by_o this_o consideration_n do_v s._n paul_n animate_v we_o to_o endure_v all_o the_o tribulation_n and_o adversity_n of_o this_o life_n with_o contentment_n and_o strength_n of_o mind_n say_v thus_o 1._o cor._n 4._o all_o the_o trouble_n and_o tribulation_n of_o this_o life_n how_o long_o soever_o it_o christ_n our_o lord_n himself_o admonish_v we_o of_o this_o mean_n in_o the_o holy_a gospel_n there_o fall_v a_o tower_n near_o the_o pool_n of_o siloe_n by_o the_o city_n of_o jerusalem_n which_o kill_v eighteen_o person_n luc._n 13._o and_o again_o after_o this_o some_o of_o the_o galilean_n be_v in_o oblation_n of_o the_o sacrifice_n of_o certain_a beast_n pilate_n send_v out_o a_o squadron_n of_o soldier_n who_o kill_v they_o and_o so_o mingle_v their_o blood_n with_o the_o blood_n of_o the_o beast_n which_o they_o have_v sacrifice_v now_o when_o they_o relate_v this_o accident_n to_o christ_n our_o lord_n he_o say_v thus_o to_o they_o do_v not_o conceive_v that_o those_o galilean_n be_v the_o great_a sinner_n of_o all_o the_o galilean_n in_o regard_n that_o this_o shall_v voluntary_o do_v penance_n and_o so_o inflict_v some_o punishment_n upon_o themselves_o in_o this_o life_n and_o second_o he_o let_v we_o know_v that_o when_o such_o affliction_n and_o tribulation_n happen_v to_o other_o we_o must_v be_v sure_a to_o enter_v into_o our_o own_o soul_n and_o to_o consider_v the_o sin_n which_o we_o have_v commit_v and_o how_o just_o we_o merit_v all_o kind_n of_o punishment_n for_o they_o &_o we_o must_v conceive_v in_o our_o heart_n a_o great_a repentance_n and_o grief_n for_o have_v commit_v they_o &_o in_o penance_n and_o satisfaction_n for_o the_o same_o we_o must_v punish_v and_o mortify_v our_o body_n with_o penal_a work_n and_o be_v willing_a to_o accept_v whatsoever_o trouble_n or_o tribulation_n it_o may_v please_v god_n to_o send_v us._n a_o most_o certain_a truth_n it_o be_v that_o god_n send_v adversity_n to_o his_o true_a and_o faithful_a servant_n who_o yet_o have_v sin_v in_o this_o life_n to_o the_o end_n that_o suffer_v they_o with_o patience_n they_o may_v discharge_v and_o satisfy_v for_o those_o sin_n which_o they_o have_v commit_v as_o that_o holy_a virgin_n sara_n confess_v say_v job._n 3._o bless_a be_v thou_o have_v incur_v for_o their_o former_a sin_n and_o so_o great_a care_n have_v god_n to_o show_v this_o mercy_n to_o this_o elect_a that_o he_o permit_v other_o man_n either_o through_o ignorance_n or_o malice_n to_o afflict_v and_o trouble_v they_o and_o by_o occasion_n and_o under_o the_o title_n of_o fault_n which_o they_o have_v not_o commit_v in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n just_o as_o the_o brethren_n of_o joseph_n exod._n 1._o who_o find_v themselves_o to_o be_v afflict_v and_o punish_v in_o egypt_n for_o the_o suppose_a offence_n of_o be_v spy_n which_o they_o have_v not_o commit_v who_o be_v there_o imprison_v for_o offence_n which_o indeed_o they_o have_v not_o commit_v but_o they_o have_v commit_v other_o sin_n in_o regard_n whereof_o god_n send_v they_o that_o punishment_n
