drop_v off_o with_o its_o first_o sickness_n there_o be_v a_o great_a mixture_n of_o mercy_n in_o this_o sad_a providence_n and_o little_a reason_n to_o be_v grieve_v at_o such_o a_o early_a death_n when_o it_o be_v so_o natural_a and_o perhaps_o prevent_v the_o meeting_n many_o sad_a mischance_n and_o a_o troop_n of_o disease_n which_o be_v incident_a to_o this_o frail_a and_o perish_a life_n and_o true_o all_o parent_n have_v the_o same_o reason_n which_o we_o suppose_v david_n have_v to_o comfort_v up_o themselves_o after_o the_o loss_n of_o their_o child_n when_o they_o die_v very_o when_o we_o think_v of_o die_a yet_o we_o may_v live_v so_o long_o as_o that_o we_o may_v have_v enough_o of_o it_o and_o may_v meet_v with_o such_o sore_a disease_n as_o may_v rob_v we_o of_o all_o pleasure_n and_o comfort_n in_o live_v and_o spoil_v our_o take_v any_o contentment_n in_o the_o great_a enjoyment_n this_o world_n do_v afford_v we_o we_o know_v how_o the_o case_n stand_v with_o job_n and_o how_o that_o affliction_n crowd_v in_o so_o thick_a upon_o he_o that_o as_o he_o often_o profess_v they_o make_v he_o even_o weary_a of_o his_o life_n and_o there_o be_v none_o of_o we_o that_o have_v any_o privilege_n or_o exemption_n or_o great_a security_n from_o disease_n than_o job_n nor_o have_v we_o body_n of_o brass_n or_o sinew_n of_o iron_n more_o than_o he_o but_o we_o have_v body_n subject_a to_o the_o same_o infirmity_n and_o liable_a to_o be_v invade_v by_o the_o same_o disease_n if_o god_n to_o make_v a_o experiment_n of_o our_o patience_n shall_v think_v fit_a to_o handle_v we_o as_o severe_o as_o he_o do_v job_n and_o to_o inflict_v the_o same_o disease_n upon_o we_o and_o therefore_o we_o need_v not_o so_o much_o desire_v long_a life_n and_o length_n of_o day_n as_o common_o we_o do_v because_o it_o may_v so_o happen_v that_o before_o we_o run_v out_o half_a our_o race_n or_o come_v to_o the_o middle_n of_o our_o course_n beside_o the_o trouble_n that_o be_v from_o without_o we_o may_v meet_v with_o such_o a_o numerous_a train_n of_o bodily_a affliction_n that_o may_v make_v we_o more_o covetous_a of_o death_n than_o ever_o we_o be_v of_o life_n and_o we_o may_v live_v to_o know_v so_o much_o sorrow_n and_o pain_n before_o we_o die_v that_o like_o job_n we_o may_v be_v ready_a to_o curse_v our_o birth_n day_n and_o wish_v that_o we_o have_v never_o be_v bear_v and_o therefore_o we_o shall_v not_o be_v so_o very_o unwilling_a to_o depart_v and_o leave_v the_o world_n at_o any_o time_n though_o never_o so_o soon_o because_o we_o break_a health_n and_o to_o be_v ever_o crazy_a and_o linger_a with_o some_o fix_a and_o incurable_a disease_n what_o pleasure_n be_v it_o to_o see_v our_o relation_n rot_v and_o unsound_a and_o patch_v up_o with_o medicine_n and_o support_v with_o the_o art_n of_o physic_n and_o keep_v alive_a by_o nice_a and_o superstitious_a observation_n of_o diet_n or_o what_o delight_n can_v we_o take_v in_o enjoy_v our_o friend_n when_o they_o can_v enjoy_v themselves_o and_o what_o reason_n then_o have_v we_o to_o lay_v so_o much_o
have_v perform_v great_a cure_n and_o great_a recovery_n and_o do_v great_a wonder_n than_o all_o the_o elixir_n or_o proprietates_fw-la or_o nostrum_n of_o the_o most_o skilful_a and_o renown_a of_o so_o near_a and_o dear_a a_o relation_n as_o a_o child_n must_v needs_o proceed_v fromhard-heartedness_n or_o the_o want_n of_o natural_a affection_n and_o of_o common_a humanity_n but_o then_o we_o may_v observe_v that_o david_n both_o to_o excuse_v and_o justify_v his_o not_o mourn_v for_o the_o death_n of_o his_o child_n nor_o take_v on_o so_o grievous_o as_o he_o do_v before_o allege_v these_o good_a and_o substantial_a reason_n as_o first_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o necessity_n of_o his_o own_o die_v and_o second_o the_o impossibility_n of_o his_o child_n come_v to_o life_n again_o and_o we_o may_v also_o suppose_v that_o he_o have_v some_o further_a consideration_n at_o that_o time_n which_o help_v to_o allay_v and_o silence_v his_o sorrow_n as_o namely_o first_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o child_n die_v in_o its_o age_n of_o innocency_n second_o that_o it_o be_v go_v out_o of_o a_o wicked_a and_o troublesome_a world_n three_o that_o it_o be_v free_v from_o those_o pain_n and_o sickness_n and_o disease_n which_o be_v incident_a to_o this_o mortal_a condition_n four_o that_o it_o be_v release_v from_o those_o pain_n and_o misery_n which_o it_o undergo_v and_o five_o that_o it_o be_v the_o will_n of_o god_n it_o shall_v be_v so_o and_o it_o be_v but_o very_o reasonable_a to_o imagine_v that_o all_o these_o consideration_n though_o not_o verbal_o the_o bitterness_n of_o our_o soul_n cry_v out_o that_o we_o be_v miserable_a and_o undo_v and_o the_o unhappy_a people_n in_o the_o world_n and_o that_o there_o be_v no_o loss_n like_o our_o loss_n and_o that_o none_o have_v such_o great_a affliction_n as_o we_o and_o then_o there_o be_v nothing_o to_o be_v hear_v or_o see_v but_o great_a lamentation_n and_o mourn_a and_o a_o huge_a scene_n of_o sorrow_n in_o which_o word_n the_o philosopher_n do_v right_o note_v our_o partiality_n to_o our_o self_n and_o how_o that_o we_o esteem_v and_o look_v upon_o death_n to_o be_v only_o unkind_a and_o cruel_a to_o ourselves_o and_o those_o that_o belong_v to_o we_o and_o that_o we_o can_v hear_v and_o think_v kind_o enough_o of_o it_o at_o a_o distance_n but_o when_o it_o come_v nigh_o we_o and_o touch_v we_o in_o our_o relation_n than_o we_o be_v all_o mutiny_n and_o confusion_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v a_o great_a argument_n of_o our_o folly_n and_o indiscretion_n to_o waver_v and_o alter_v so_o much_o in_o our_o opinion_n of_o death_n as_o to_o entertain_v worse_a thought_n of_o it_o at_o one_o time_n than_o another_o for_o albeit_o the_o more_o than_o ordinary_a sympathy_n that_o be_v between_o we_o and_o our_o relation_n may_v defend_v and_o justify_v our_o sorrow_n somewhat_o more_o for_o they_o than_o for_o perfect_a stranger_n yet_o it_o be_v against_o common_a sense_n and_o reason_n that_o we_o shall_v be_v so_o desperate_o disquiet_v at_o that_o providence_n which_o deprive_v we_o of_o our_o relation_n whereas_o we_o be_v so_o little_o concern_v at_o the_o common_a fatality_n of_o mankind_n and_o therefore_o it_o behoove_v we_o in_o point_n of_o prudence_n to_o labour_v to_o have_v always_o the_o same_o thought_n and_o opinion_n of_o death_n and_o to_o count_v it_o no_o more_o cruel_a no_o more_o a_o enemy_n when_o it_o seize_v upon_o our_o own_o flesh_n and_o blood_n than_o when_o it_o seize_v upon_o the_o rest_n of_o humane_a race_n and_o if_o we_o make_v no_o great_a matter_n of_o the_o death_n of_o other_o who_o we_o see_v daily_o fall_v to_o the_o ground_n look_v upon_o it_o as_o a_o natural_a thing_n for_o they_o to_o die_v so_o let_v we_o consider_v that_o it_o be_v every_o whit_n as_o natural_a for_o our_o relation_n to_o die_v and_o nothing_o happen_v to_o they_o but_o what_o be_v common_a to_o all_o flesh_n live_v and_o this_o of_o another_o and_o better_a life_n hereafter_o some_o indeed_o may_v attempt_v and_o endeavour_v to_o quiet_a and_o silence_v their_o sorrow_n by_o argument_n draw_v from_o reason_n and_o the_o acute_a say_n of_o philosopher_n and_o think_v they_o may_v be_v able_a from_o mere_a natural_a courage_n and_o some_o bold_a principle_n to_o laugh_v at_o and_o despise_v death_n as_o well_o as_o the_o stoic_n do_v in_o their_o high_a randes_z and_o sullen_a mood_n but_o no_o argument_n or_o the_o most_o stubborn_a principle_n in_o the_o world_n can_v be_v of_o equal_a force_n with_o our_o christian_a hope_n for_o that_o purpose_n a_o hope_n that_o open_v to_o we_o the_o casement_n of_o heaven_n and_o represent_v to_o we_o in_o a_o great_a measure_n the_o glory_n of_o the_o resurrection_n the_o exact_a and_o full_a knowledge_n whereof_o can_v be_v attain_v in_o this_o narrow_a state_n of_o mortality_n and_o be_v far_o transcend_v all_o humane_a reach_n and_o comprehension_n so_o that_o for_o i_o to_o go_v about_o to_o make_v a_o full_a and_o complete_a description_n of_o the_o excellency_n and_o perfection_n
appropriate_v to_o the_o future_a state_n will_v be_v the_o same_o fondness_n as_o to_o attempt_v to_o illustrate_v a_o star_n with_o my_o finger_n but_o yet_o for_o our_o great_a comfort_n and_o
