or_o doctrine_n of_o dissension_n and_o discord_n of_o it_o self_n but_o that_o by_o the_o malice_n of_o man_n that_o can_v not_o abide_v to_o be_v rebuke_v by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n they_o will_v if_o he_o be_v a_o sinful_a man_n that_o live_v contrary_a to_o his_o knowledge_n &_o profession_n he_o bring_v he_o first_o to_o the_o knowledge_n and_o hatred_n of_o his_o sin_n and_o afterward_o to_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o the_o same_o as_o christ_n our_o saviour_n wonderful_o teach_v in_o saint_n john_n 16._o where_o he_o say_v the_o holy_a ghost_n when_o he_o come_v shall_v rebuke_v the_o trouble_n it_o be_v contrary_a both_o to_o the_o person_n that_o profess_v god_n and_o also_o to_o the_o religion_n that_o he_o be_v profess_v unto_o for_o in_o y_fw-fr e_fw-la world_n both_o shall_v be_v as_o christ_n say_v hate_v of_o which_o hatred_n come_v persecution_n and_o trouble_n so_o that_o the_o people_n of_o god_n shall_v whether_o they_o will_v or_o will_v not_o pass_v through_o many_o danger_n and_o no_o less_o perilous_a than_o the_o shadow_n and_o very_a image_n of_o death_n as_o here_o king_n david_n show_v in_o this_o wholesome_a and_o bless_a hymn_n and_o as_o he_o see_v right_a well_o that_o the_o state_n and_o condition_n of_o god_n people_n and_o sheep_n be_v to_o be_v trouble_v for_o christ_n and_o his_o word_n 11._o even_o so_o do_v zacharie_n the_o prophet_n speak_v of_o christ_n and_o his_o people_n 16._o how_o that_o not_o only_o the_o sheep_n shall_v be_v trouble_v and_o scatter_v abroad_o but_o also_o the_o shéepehearde_n shall_v be_v strike_v with_o the_o sword_n that_o both_o sheep_n and_o shéepehearde_n shall_v be_v condemn_v in_o this_o world_n but_o now_o as_o david_n and_o zacharie_n declare_v that_o the_o life_n and_o conscience_n even_o so_o be_v the_o trouble_n and_o adversity_n gospel_n which_o god_n threaten_v for_o sin_n speak_v and_o talk_v of_o with_o the_o tongue_n and_o know_v in_o the_o mind_n but_o they_o be_v not_o earnest_o nor_o féel_o seal_v in_o our_o conscience_n and_o heart_n and_o of_o this_o come_v it_o that_o we_o neither_o love_n god_n nor_o rejoice_v in_o his_o promise_n as_o we_o though_o god_n have_v clean_o hide_v himself_o from_o the_o afflict_a person_n and_o have_v clean_o forsake_v he_o yet_o at_o length_n the_o day_n of_o light_n from_o above_o and_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n have_v appear_v that_o lie_v cover_v under_o the_o veil_n and_o covert_n of_o bitter_a cogitation_n of_o god_n just_a judgement_n against_o sin_n they_o therefore_o see_v that_o faith_n at_o all_o time_n have_v not_o like_a strength_n in_o man_n i_o do_v not_o speak_v to_o discomfort_v such_o as_o at_o all_o time_n find_v not_o their_o faith_n as_o strong_a as_o david_n do_v in_o this_o psalm_n for_o i_o know_v in_o the_o holy_a saint_n themselves_o it_o be_v not_o always_o like_a but_o even_o in_o they_o as_o in_o other_o and_o although_o we_o can_v not_o compare_v with_o they_o in_o all_o thing_n in_o the_o perfection_n of_o their_o faith_n yet_o may_v they_o compare_v themselves_o with_o we_o in_o the_o weakness_n of_o our_o faith_n as_o you_o may_v see_v by_o the_o scripture_n in_o this_o psalm_n and_o in_o many_o other_o you_o shall_v perceive_v that_o david_n by_o the_o constancy_n and_o surety_n he_o feel_v in_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n be_v so_o strong_a so_o joyful_a and_o comfortable_a in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o danger_n and_o trouble_n of_o death_n that_o he_o do_v not_o only_o contemn_v trouble_n and_o death_n but_o also_o desire_a death_n and_o to_o be_v dissolve_v out_o of_o this_o world_n as_o saint_n paul_n and_o other_o do_v at_o a_o other_o time_n you_o shall_v perceive_v he_o to_o be_v strong_a in_o faith_n but_o not_o so_o joyful_a nor_o yet_o the_o trouble_n so_o easy_a unto_o he_o but_o that_o he_o suffer_v great_a battle_n and_o conflict_n with_o his_o trouble_n and_o of_o the_o cause_n of_o all_o note_v and_o our_o saviour_n christ_n take_v it_o in_o the_o same_o signification_n in_o saint_n luke_n gospel_n where_o he_o say_v his_o disciple_n shall_v eat_v with_o he_o at_o his_o table_n in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n the_o four_o mean_n that_o the_o heavenly_a shepherd_n use_v in_o keep_v of_o his_o sheep_n the_o prophet_n set_v forth_o under_o the_o name_n of_o oil_n and_o a_o full_a cup_n in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n these_o word_n have_v also_o comfortable_a signification_n and_o meaning_n extend_v to_o david_n purpose_n isaac_n when_o he_o have_v give_v the_o blessing_n from_o esau_n to_o jacob_n say_v to_o jacob_n god_n shall_v give_v thou_o of_o the_o dew_n from_o heaven_n 27._o and_o from_o the_o fruitful_a ground_n thou_o shall_v have_v abundance_n of_o corn_n of_o wine_n and_o oil_n etc._n etc._n by_o the_o which_o blessing_n he_o mean_v that_o jacob_n shall_v lack_v nothing_o to_o serve_v his_o need_n and_o to_o make_v he_o merry_a and_o if_o we_o take_v of_o joy_n above_o thy_o fellow_n and_o this_o oil_n be_v not_o the_o material_a oil_n that_o king_n and_o priest_n be_v anoint_v withal_o in_o the_o old_a time_n of_o the_o law_n of_o who_o confection_n we_o read_v in_o the_o book_n of_o the_o levite_n but_o this_o be_v the_o oil_n by_o who_o efficacy_n strength_n and_o power_n all_o thing_n be_v make_v that_o be_v to_o say_v the_o holy_a ghost_n 89._o and_o in_o his_o 89._o psalm_n he_o speak_v of_o the_o oil_n in_o the_o same_o signification_n therefore_o i_o take_v king_n david_n here_o when_o he_o say_v god_n have_v anoint_v his_o head_n with_o oil_n that_o god_n have_v illuminate_v his_o spirit_n with_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o so_o be_v this_o place_n take_v of_o godly_a man_n full_a his_o head_n take_v for_o his_o mind_n and_o oil_n for_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o as_o oil_n nourish_v light_a mitigate_v labour_n and_o pain_n and_o exhilerate_v the_o countenance_n so_o do_v the_o holy_a ghost_n nourish_v the_o light_n and_o knowledge_n of_o the_o mind_n replenish_v it_o with_o god_n gift_n and_o rejoice_v the_o heart_n therefore_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v call_v the_o oil_n of_o mirth_n and_o consolation_n and_o this_o consolation_n come_v unto_o king_n david_n and_o to_o all_o god_n lively_a member_n by_o the_o mean_n of_o christ_n 2._o as_o saint_n peter_n say_v we_o be_v people_n choose_v and_o a_o princely_a priesthood_n etc._n etc._n by_o the_o word_n cup_n in_o this_o verse_n he_o mean_v that_o he_o be_v full_o instruct_v in_o all_o godly_a knowledge_n to_o live_v virtuous_o and_o godly_a for_o the_o time_n of_o this_o mortal_a life_n and_o so_o be_v the_o cup_n in_o the_o scripture_n take_v for_o any_o thing_n that_o can_v
