be_v in_o a_o estate_n of_o grace_n if_o john_n do_v write_v these_o epistle_n for_o this_o end_n that_o we_o may_v know_v we_o have_v eternal_a life_n then_o sure_o we_o may_v know_v it_o else_o john_n fail_v of_o his_o end_n and_o for_o john_n to_o be_v disappoint_v be_v less_o matter_n but_o the_o holy_a ghost_n himself_o for_o john_n be_v the_o penman_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n the_o judgement_n or_o discern_v a_o man_n have_v of_o a_o certain_a thing_n if_o a_o man_n ask_v you_o whether_o he_o know_v if_o such_o a_o man_n have_v possession_n of_o such_o a_o place_n and_o he_o say_v first_o yes_o and_o afterward_o say_v he_o conjecture_n so_o his_o knowledge_n be_v no_o knowledge_n it_o be_v a_o false_a intelligence_n if_o you_o ask_v a_o man_n if_o he_o know_v whether_o such_o a_o man_n have_v such_o a_o portion_n of_o such_o a_o value_n and_o he_o say_v he_o have_v he_o conjecture_n so_o it_o be_v no_o knowledge_n but_o if_o he_o know_v it_o than_o he_o speak_v of_o beautify_v the_o meek_a with_o salvation_n that_o be_v he_o will_v beautify_v they_o by_o their_o manifold_a deliverance_n nay_o beside_o deliverance_n you_o shall_v find_v this_o to_o be_v the_o beautiful_a frame_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n people_n in_o their_o estate_n take_v it_o in_o their_o outward_a condition_n in_o the_o world_n a_o estate_n of_o mean_n and_o affliction_n if_o he_o be_v a_o man_n of_o a_o fair_a outward_a estate_n and_o of_o good_a mean_n in_o the_o world_n yet_o you_o shall_v see_v a_o marvellous_a spirit_n of_o selfe-deniall_n in_o he_o so_o as_o that_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o many_o worldly_a comfort_n he_o fit_v loose_a from_o they_o and_o life_n beside_o they_o these_o be_v not_o the_o thing_n that_o he_o have_v set_v his_o heart_n upon_o as_o our_o saviour_n say_v to_o his_o disciple_n concern_v the_o stone_n of_o the_o temple_n so_o as_o that_o though_o god_n have_v do_v much_o for_o they_o and_o give_v they_o many_o comfort_n yet_o there_o be_v a_o more_o hide_a matter_n in_o their_o heart_n better_o than_o these_o thing_n can_v reach_v unto_o they_o be_v not_o a_o christian_n crown_n and_o glory_n but_o he_o be_v crucify_v to_o they_o and_o they_o unto_o he_o gal._n 6.14_o and_o if_o so_o be_v that_o god_n give_v he_o any_o great_a or_o eminent_a gift_n of_o spiritual_a grace_n it_o be_v strange_a to_o see_v how_o they_o be_v clad_v in_o he_o with_o a_o garment_n of_o christ_n crucify_v over_o shadow_a in_o self_n denial_n as_o they_o say_v of_o paul_n mean_v in_o outward_a view_n and_o speech_n of_o little_a or_o no_o value_n 2_o cor._n 13.3_o and_o yet_o even_o in_o this_o very_a meanness_n which_o any_o of_o they_o labour_n under_o in_o regard_n of_o want_n of_o outward_a thing_n and_o all_o their_o meanness_n and_o lowness_n of_o carriage_n and_o selfe-deniall_n of_o all_o the_o outward_a blessing_n and_o contentment_n they_o have_v receive_v yet_o you_o shall_v see_v a_o mighty_a power_n of_o christ_n triumph_v in_o the_o baseness_n and_o mortifiednesse_n of_o a_o christian_a soul_n so_o as_o that_o the_o apostle_n fit_o and_o suitable_o express_v their_o estate_n though_o he_o be_v crucify_v through_o weakness_n yet_o he_o live_v by_o the_o power_n of_o god_n for_o we_o also_o be_v weak_a in_o he_o but_o we_o shall_v also_o live_v with_o he_o by_o the_o power_n of_o god_n so_o that_o as_o it_o be_v with_o christ_n in_o his_o estate_n so_o it_o be_v with_o we_o in_o our_o estate_n weak_a in_o he_o meaning_n that_o as_o christ_n in_o his_o outward_a man_n seem_v to_o be_v weak_a and_o contemptible_a so_o we_o as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o original_a be_v weak_a with_o he_o but_o we_o shall_v live_v with_o he_o by_o the_o power_n of_o god_n so_o that_o suppose_v christ_n be_v indeed_o weak_a in_o outward_a view_n so_o as_o he_o that_o look_v once_o will_v not_o look_v twice_o at_o he_o yet_o when_o he_o seem_v to_o be_v most_o weak_a and_o base_a then_o be_v he_o most_o powerful_a and_o glorious_a and_o so_o the_o very_a death_n of_o christ_n wherein_o he_o be_v most_o expose_v to_o such_o infirmity_n as_o follow_v man_n nature_n yet_o than_o he_o perform_v the_o great_a work_n of_o our_o redemption_n satisfy_v the_o father_n wrath_n for_o we_o procure_v we_o pardon_v of_o sin_n and_o redeem_v we_o from_o the_o bondage_n of_o hell_n and_o purchase_n for_o we_o a_o spirit_n of_o grace_n and_o power_n and_o true_o there_o be_v a_o certain_a kind_n of_o conformity_n even_o in_o this_o very_a point_n between_o the_o lord_n jesus_n and_o every_o servant_n of_o christ_n as_o he_o be_v weak_a so_o be_v we_o as_o he_o die_v so_o do_v we_o as_o he_o be_v in_o his_o great_a debasement_n and_o advancement_n so_o it_o be_v with_o we_o and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o you_o read_v these_o phrase_n in_o scripture_n we_o be_v dead_a with_o christ_n col._n 2.20_o and_o rise_v with_o christ_n col._n 3.1_o and_o crucify_v with_o christ_n rom._n 6.6_o now_o these_o be_v strange_a phrase_n that_o christ_n who_o be_v dead_a one_o thousand_o six_o hundred_o year_n ago_o and_o rise_v again_o so_o long_o since_o what_o be_v this_o which_o the_o apostle_n say_v we_o be_v thus_o dead_a and_o crucify_v and_o rise_v with_o christ_n what_o be_v the_o intendment_n of_o his_o discourse_n the_o true_a meaning_n be_v that_o by_o the_o same_o spirit_n of_o christ_n which_o be_v shed_v abroad_o into_o his_o heart_n above_o measure_n we_o be_v so_o knit_v unto_o christ_n as_o that_o we_o be_v not_o only_o of_o the_o like_a nature_n with_o he_o but_o of_o like_a estate_n with_o christ_n that_o as_o he_o be_v in_o this_o world_n so_o be_v we_o while_o we_o be_v in_o the_o world_n weak_a as_o he_o yea_o glorious_a as_o he_o and_o as_o he_o rise_v again_o out_o of_o all_o contempt_n and_o reproach_n and_o persecution_n so_o do_v we_o rise_v again_o out_o of_o all_o our_o many_o and_o great_a affliction_n mighty_o by_o the_o same_o power_n of_o the_o same_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n so_o that_o this_o be_v a_o point_n that_o inward_o flow_v from_o this_o have_v of_o christ_n he_o that_o have_v the_o son_n have_v the_o spirit_n of_o the_o son_n whereby_o he_o be_v make_v one_o with_o christ_n in_o nature_n in_o office_n and_o in_o his_o estate_n and_o this_o be_v evident_a in_o the_o experience_n of_o god_n servant_n and_o by_o testimony_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n in_o scripture_n and_o therefore_o examine_v we_o ourselves_o in_o this_o particular_a if_o we_o have_v the_o son_n we_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o the_o son_n the_o second_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v that_o it_o be_v not_o only_o a_o spirit_n of_o union_n but_o it_o be_v also_o a_o spirit_n of_o liberty_n liberty_n the_o second_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n liberty_n for_o of_o all_o the_o kind_n of_o temper_n in_o a_o son_n there_o be_v nothing_o more_o express_v the_o frame_n of_o a_o son_n next_o to_o his_o likeness_n and_o union_n with_o if_o he_o offend_v be_v afraid_a of_o extremity_n from_o his_o master_n but_o the_o son_n walk_v with_o more_o liberty_n rom._n 8.15_o we_o have_v receive_v the_o spirit_n of_o adoption_n whereby_o
