proper_a felicity_n hereupon_o follow_v the_o extinction_n of_o all_o envy_n regret_n and_o discontentment_n the_o sacrifice_a of_o ourselves_o the_o annihilate_v of_o ourselves_o the_o lowliness_n of_o ourselves_o and_o the_o exaltation_n of_o god_n and_o the_o adoration_n of_o god_n and_o the_o joy_n of_o adore_v the_o great_a of_o all_o other_o the_o amity_n and_o friendship_n between_o god_n and_o his_o creature_n the_o unity_n of_o both_o and_o their_o happiness_n for_o ever_o without_o this_o humility_n of_o look_v into_o the_o bottom_n of_o our_o first_o condition_n all_o this_o be_v impossible_a and_o for_o this_o cause_n be_v humility_n a_o eternal_a virtue_n in_o all_o estate_n for_o ever_o to_o be_v enjoy_v i_o may_v have_v say_v exercise_v thus_o in_o the_o estate_n of_o sin_n and_o misery_n all_o the_o odiousness_n of_o our_o gild_n all_o our_o despair_n and_o deformity_n all_o our_o shame_n and_o misery_n all_o the_o necessity_n of_o hate_v god_n and_o be_v hate_v of_o he_o come_v before_o the_o eye_n of_o a_o humble_a soul_n with_o all_o the_o mercy_n and_o condescension_n of_o eternal_a love_n in_o the_o work_n of_o redemption_n and_o in_o the_o state_n of_o glory_n itself_o all_o the_o particular_a sin_n neglect_v rebellion_n apostasy_n and_o villainy_n we_o commit_v against_o god_n after_o all_o his_o mercy_n and_o goodness_n in_o the_o death_n of_o his_o son_n how_o infinite_o base_a we_o be_v in_o despise_v all_o his_o bounty_n and_o glory_n how_o infinite_o those_o offence_n make_v we_o unworthy_a of_o heaven_n and_o the_o eternal_a glory_n we_o now_o enjoy_v how_o marvellous_a and_o incomparable_a his_o love_n be_v in_o pursue_v we_o with_o so_o much_o long-suffering_a and_o patience_n how_o amiable_a he_o be_v and_o how_o vile_a and_o unworthy_a we_o be_v in_o all_o this_o it_o be_v the_o office_n of_o humility_n to_o feel_v and_o ponder_v thus_o you_o see_v its_o work_n and_o you_o may_v easy_o conjecture_v at_o its_o eternal_a reward_n all_o thing_n be_v in_o it_o in_o the_o utmost_a height_n and_o depth_n of_o resignation_n and_o contentment_n enjoy_v i_o need_v not_o observe_v that_o sweetness_n of_o conversation_n that_o civility_n and_o courtesy_n that_o spring_v from_o humility_n the_o meek_a and_o lowly_a be_v the_o same_o man_n the_o kind_a and_o charitable_a and_o the_o affable_a and_o the_o good_a be_v all_o of_o they_o humble_a and_o so_o be_v all_o they_o that_o prefer_v other_o above_o themselves_o and_o render_v themselves_o amiable_a by_o honour_v their_o inferior_n and_o give_v place_n to_o their_o equal_n at_o least_o they_o imitate_v humility_n as_o complimental_a courtier_n do_v for_o their_o advantage_n and_o it_o be_v no_o small_a token_n of_o its_o excellency_n that_o the_o great_a enemy_n of_o humility_n and_o virtue_n be_v force_v sometime_o to_o fly_v to_o it_o for_o succour_n as_o those_o that_o well_o know_v they_o can_v never_o thrive_v nor_o prosper_v in_o the_o world_n without_o esteem_n nor_o gain_v esteem_n without_o cover_v their_o vice_n under_o the_o mask_n of_o virtue_n all_o the_o advantage_n and_o effect_n of_o this_o will_v be_v enjoy_v eternal_o chap._n xxvii_o that_o contentment_n be_v a_o virtue_n its_o cause_n and_o its_o endi_n its_o impediment_n effect_n and_o advantage_n the_o way_n to_o attain_v and_o secure_v contentment_n though_o we_o have_v not_o let_v we_o therewith_o be_v content_a for_o godliness_n with_o contentment_n be_v great_a gain_n where_o he_o fit_o note_v that_o godliness_n be_v the_o original_n of_o true_a contentment_n and_o that_o the_o gain_n of_o so_o great_a a_o virtue_n be_v inestimable_a the_o truth_n be_v it_o be_v impossible_a to_o be_v happy_a or_o grateful_a without_o it_o a_o discontent_a mind_n be_v exceed_o prone_a to_o be_v peevish_a and_o fretful_a and_o throw_v a_o man_n into_o all_o the_o indecency_n of_o avarice_n ambition_n envy_n treason_n murder_n contention_n turbulence_n murmur_a repine_v melancholy_a and_o sowrness_n anger_n baseness_n and_o folly_n into_o all_o the_o malevolence_n and_o misery_n which_o can_v disorder_v the_o soul_n or_o disturb_v the_o world_n suspicion_n
