lose_v his_o pristine_a purity_n and_o subjugate_v himself_o to_o the_o cruel_a tyranny_n and_o dominion_n of_o sin_n in_o this_o deplorable_a state_n be_v utter_o unable_a to_o help_v himself_o our_o bless_a lord_n redeem_v we_o from_o our_o captivity_n by_o offer_v up_o himself_o a_o ransom_n to_o satisfy_v divine_a justice_n and_o all_o this_o that_o we_o may_v walk_v in_o newness_n of_o life_n and_o now_o what_o ingratitude_n be_v it_o to_o despise_v so_o much_o love_v sure_o if_o he_o that_o despise_a moses_n law_n die_v without_o mercy_n of_o how_o much_o sore_a punishment_n shall_v he_o be_v think_v worthy_a who_o have_v tread_v under_o foot_n the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o have_v count_v the_o blood_n of_o the_o covenant_n wherewith_o he_o be_v sanctify_v a_o unholy_a thing_n heb._n 10.28_o 29._o he_o must_v certain_o be_v of_o a_o very_a base_a and_o disingenous_a spirit_n who_o take_v pleasure_n in_o sin_n when_o he_o consider_v how_o dear_o christ_n pay_v for_o it_o have_v he_o be_v at_o so_o much_o pain_n undergo_v such_o dismal_a suffering_n to_o purchase_v our_o peace_n and_o will_v we_o notwithstanding_o frustrate_v his_o design_n how_o strange_a to_o astonishment_n be_v this_o that_o man_n shall_v prefer_v captivity_n to_o freedom_n alas_o be_v it_o not_o enough_o that_o our_o bless_a master_n be_v so_o barbarous_o and_o despiteful_o use_v by_o the_o jew_n and_o roman_a soldier_n but_o must_v we_o be_v also_o actor_n in_o the_o tragedy_n and_o by_o our_o sin_n crucify_v he_o again_o do_v he_o not_o die_v that_o we_o may_v live_v and_o shall_v we_o spend_v our_o life_n in_o offer_v despite_n unto_o he_o strange_a that_o so_o much_o madness_n shall_v lodge_v in_o the_o breast_n of_o any_o into_o who_o god_n have_v breathe_v the_o breath_n of_o life_n i_o may_v here_o also_o add_v that_o it_o be_v a_o contemn_v and_o offer_v of_o the_o great_a despite_n to_o the_o holy_a spirit_n to_o despise_v holiness_n for_o upon_o this_o account_n be_v the_o three_o person_n of_o the_o bless_a trinity_n call_v the_o holy_a ghost_n because_o his_o peculiar_a office_n be_v to_o enable_v we_o to_o perform_v holy_a action_n now_o if_o we_o continue_v in_o our_o rebellion_n if_o we_o reject_v the_o offer_n of_o grace_n and_o the_o internal_a motion_n of_o the_o spirit_n to_o holiness_n we_o do_v hereby_o become_v guilty_a of_o quench_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o offer_v despite_n unto_o he_o which_o be_v so_o horrid_a a_o piece_n of_o villainy_n that_o heaven_n threaten_v it_o with_o the_o severe_a torment_n sect_n 5._o holiness_n the_o most_o proper_a and_o effectual_a mean_n for_o attain_v length_n of_o day_n of_o all_o outward_a and_o temporal_a blessing_n length_n of_o day_n have_v just_o the_o precedency_n since_o without_o this_o all_o other_o can_v afford_v little_a or_o no_o comfort_n the_o possession_n and_o enjoyment_n of_o other_o mercy_n can_v bestow_v no_o satisfaction_n to_o man_n lie_v on_o their_o bed_n of_o languish_v nay_o there_o be_v no_o comfort_n be_v it_o never_o so_o great_a but_o man_n will_v willing_o quit_v with_o to_o acquire_v this_o now_o since_o this_o be_v above_o all_o thing_n so_o universal_o desire_v it_o can_v but_o very_o much_o enhance_v the_o value_n of_o holiness_n to_o demonstrate_v that_o there_o be_v nothing_o so_o proper_a nor_o more_o effectual_a to_o procure_v length_n of_o day_n than_o this_o in_o order_n to_o my_o prove_v of_o this_o i_o shall_v first_o make_v it_o plain_a from_o scripture_n that_o length_n of_o day_n be_v due_a to_o holy_a man_n by_o virtue_n of_o the_o many_o true_a and_o faithful_a promise_n and_o second_o i_o shall_v appeal_v to_o common_a experience_n to_o determine_v the_o case_n first_o there_o be_v nothing_o more_o evident_o assert_v in_o scripture_n than_o that_o holiness_n have_v the_o promise_n of_o length_n of_o day_n annex_v to_o it_o prov._n 3.1_o 2._o my_o son_n forget_v not_o my_o law_n but_o let_v thy_o heart_n keep_v my_o commandment_n for_o length_n of_o day_n and_o long_a life_n shall_v they_o add_v unto_o thou_o this_o encourage_v motive_n be_v press_v very_o effectual_o by_o moses_n in_o his_o exhortation_n to_o obedience_n deut._n 4.40_o thou_o shall_v keep_v therefore_o his_o statute_n and_o his_o commandment_n which_o i_o command_v thou_o this_o day_n that_o it_o may_v go_v well_o with_o thou_o and_o with_o thy_o child_n after_o thou_o and_o that_o thou_o may_v prolong_v thy_o day_n upon_o the_o earth_n upon_o this_o account_n we_o also_o find_v that_o there_o be_v many_o promise_n of_o this_o nature_n to_o obedient_a child_n exod._n 20.12_o honour_n thy_o father_n and_o thy_o mother_n that_o thy_o day_n may_v be_v long_o upon_o the_o land_n which_o the_o lord_n thy_o god_n give_v thou_o and_o as_o righteousness_n tend_v to_o life_n as_o the_o wise_a man_n observe_v so_o he_o that_o pursue_v evil_a pursue_v it_o to_o his_o own_o death_n prov._n 11.19_o there_o be_v nothing_o more_o evident_a from_o scripture_n than_o that_o sin_n have_v a_o natural_a tendency_n to_o shorten_v man_n life_n nay_o the_o great_a god_n who_o be_v serious_a in_o his_o threaten_n have_v assure_v we_o it_o be_v so_o upon_o which_o account_n we_o may_v well_o conclude_v with_o the_o wise_a man_n prov._n 10.27_o the_o year_n of_o the_o wicked_a shall_v be_v shorten_v the_o whole_a tenor_n of_o the_o scripture_n abound_v with_o many_o such_o promise_n and_o threaten_n and_o the_o thing_n be_v so_o plain_a that_o i_o need_v not_o stand_v to_o transcribe_v many_o text_n but_o beside_o scripture_n this_o truth_n be_v also_o plain_o attest_v by_o common_a experience_n for_o if_o we_o examine_v who_o be_v the_o man_n who_o for_o ordinary_a be_v most_o obnoxious_a to_o disease_n and_o live_v short_a we_o shall_v find_v it_o true_a enough_o that_o the_o vicious_a be_v the_o man_n who_o live_v not_o out_o half_a their_o day_n prov._n 23.29_o 30._o who_o have_v woe_n who_o have_v sorrow_n who_o have_v wound_n without_o cause_n they_o that_o tarry_v long_o at_o the_o wine_n etc._n etc._n holiness_n be_v repugnant_a and_o inconsistent_a with_o excess_n which_o natural_o put_v a_o period_n to_o the_o life_n of_o man_n it_o forbid_v all_o manner_n of_o vice_n which_o lead_v down_o to_o the_o chamber_n of_o death_n and_o keep_v man_n within_o due_a bound_n in_o their_o eat_n and_o drink_v before_o mankind_n have_v corrupt_v themselves_o by_o their_o notorious_a and_o impudent_a viciousness_n we_o read_v of_o their_o great_a length_n of_o day_n but_o the_o increase_n of_o sin_n multiply_v disease_n which_o hurry_v man_n to_o untimely_a death_n i_o deny_v not_o but_o the_o great_a lord_n and_o master_n of_o the_o universe_n may_v for_o holy_a and_o wise_a end_n know_v unto_o himself_o cut_v short_a the_o life_n of_o the_o righteous_a yet_o sure_o if_o we_o consult_v either_o experience_n or_o reason_n we_o shall_v find_v it_o certain_a beyond_o doubt_n that_o virtuous_a man_n enjoy_v for_o ordinary_a far_o the_o long_a life_n some_o good_a man_n may_v be_v natural_o of_o a_o brittle_a constitution_n yet_o how_o strange_o have_v their_o life_n be_v protract_v by_o their_o moderation_n and_o sobriety_n and_o how_o many_o strong_a man_n have_v have_v their_o day_n shorten_v by_o their_o intemperance_n and_o excess_n indeed_o he_o that_o consider_v this_o well_o shall_v find_v that_o holiness_n be_v the_o most_o effectual_a mean_n to_o promote_v long_a life_n both_o upon_o a_o moral_a and_o natural_a account_n upon_o a_o moral_a account_n long_a life_n be_v the_o reward_n which_o the_o divine_a promise_n do_v secure_a to_o such_o man_n and_o on_o the_o contrary_a wickedness_n be_v threaten_v with_o shortness_n of_o day_n upon_o a_o natural_a account_n the_o fire_n do_v not_o more_o natural_o produce_v heat_n than_o holiness_n do_v procure_v health_n and_o length_n of_o day_n and_o there_o be_v nothing_o more_o evident_a than_o that_o the_o most_o of_o vice_n have_v a_o physical_a efficacy_n in_o the_o shorten_n of_o humane_a life_n that_o this_o be_v the_o necessary_a product_n and_o genuine_a effect_n of_o intemperance_n and_o lasciviousness_n need_v no_o other_o argument_n to_o prove_v it_o but_o the_o daily_a example_n of_o multitude_n who_o those_o sin_n have_v hurry_v to_o their_o grave_n and_o true_o there_o be_v not_o any_o vice_n which_o do_v not_o like_a fire_n in_o man_n bosom_n torture_n and_o consume_v they_o and_o so_o disorder_n and_o discompose_v they_o that_o they_o even_o neglect_v the_o necessary_a mean_n of_o their_o health_n see_v period_n of_o humane_a life_n pag._n 111_o 124_o edit_n 2._o sect_n 6._o holiness_n that_o which_o make_v man_n honourable_a vice_n render_v man_n mean_a and_o ignoble_a honour_n be_v a_o ornament_n so_o noble_a and_o venerable_a that_o he_o be_v but_o very_o sottish_a if_o not_o quite_o brutish_a who_o do_v not_o
pleasure_n he_o may_v otherwise_o free_o enough_o delight_n in_o o_o how_o do_v it_o molest_v and_o torment_v he_o nocte_fw-la diéque_fw-la suum_fw-la gestare_fw-la in_o pectore_fw-la testem_fw-la to_o have_v a_o inward_a principle_n of_o fear_n haunt_v the_o sinner_n in_o his_o most_o retire_a enjoyment_n of_o pleasure_n which_o can_v be_v silence_v by_o his_o utmost_a endeavour_n this_o this_o be_v it_o that_o torment_v he_o with_o anguish_n and_o confusion_n that_o allay_v the_o imaginary_a pleasure_n of_o the_o most_o charm_a lust_n and_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o laughter_n make_v his_o heart_n heavy_a which_o full_o verify_v the_o truth_n of_o what_o i_o say_v that_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o all_o other_o blessing_n can_v never_o free_v a_o man_n from_o torment_n nor_o a_o whit_n profit_v he_o that_o be_v destitute_a of_o holiness_n four_o holiness_n be_v the_o most_o incomparable_a blessing_n and_o free_v the_o soul_n from_o the_o worst_a of_o evil_n what_o david_n say_v of_o goliahs_n sword_n i_o may_v more_o safe_o say_v of_o holiness_n there_o be_v none_o like_o it_o nothing_o in_o the_o world_n so_o apt_a to_o remove_v those_o disaster_n and_o turmoil_a fear_n that_o inward_o work_v upon_o and_o damp_n the_o mind_n of_o man_n with_o severe_a check_n and_o lash_n as_o holiness_n which_o be_v diametrical_o opposite_a to_o sin_n which_o be_v the_o worst_a of_o evil_n must_v therefore_o by_o a_o necessary_a consequence_n be_v the_o best_a of_o blessing_n now_o see_v contrary_n place_v near_o to_o other_o be_v the_o more_o discernible_a i_o shall_v therefore_o take_v a_o short_a view_n of_o the_o evil_a and_o malignity_n of_o sin_n that_o hereby_o the_o beauty_n and_o excellency_n of_o holiness_n may_v appear_v the_o bright_a and_o have_v the_o great_a force_n to_o conquer_v our_o affection_n to_o express_v the_o evil_a and_o malignity_n of_o sin_n scripture_n represent_v it_o by_o the_o most_o ugly_a and_o abominable_a thing_n by_o the_o most_o dangerous_a and_o terrible_a disease_n nay_o the_o great_a apostle_n seem_v to_o want_v language_n and_o comparison_n too_o to_o express_v the_o evil_n of_o it_o when_o he_o call_v it_o exceed_o evil_n as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v it_o infinite_o transcend_v all_o other_o evil_n the_o malignity_n of_o which_o no_o pen_n can_v full_o delineate_v and_o describe_v either_o in_o its_o nature_n or_o consequence_n in_o its_o nature_n the_o scripture-character_n of_o it_o be_v it_o be_v a_o enmity_n against_o god_n a_o transgression_n and_o voluntary_a violation_n of_o his_o most_o holy_a and_o righteous_a law_n a_o disobedience_n of_o his_o authority_n and_o a_o wicked_a contempt_n of_o all_o the_o divine_a attribute_n it_o be_v the_o woeful_a stain_n and_o blemish_n of_o our_o nature_n the_o disease_n of_o our_o soul_n and_o the_o reproach_n of_o our_o reason_n the_o consequence_n of_o sin_n be_v fearful_a and_o fatal_a so_o bad_a a_o cause_n can_v never_o fail_v to_o produce_v the_o worst_a effect_n for_o beside_o all_o the_o temporal_a calamity_n and_o mischief_n that_o befall_v mankind_n those_o unspeakable_a misery_n and_o extreme_a torment_n that_o accompany_v man_n to_o the_o other_o world_n be_v also_o the_o dreadful_a and_o sad_a effect_n of_o sin_n i_o have_v already_o show_v that_o every_o vice_n be_v natural_o attend_v with_o some_o particular_a punishment_n but_o that_o indeed_o which_o be_v most_o terrible_a which_o shall_v mighty_o amaze_v and_o startle_v the_o sinner_n be_v the_o dreadful_a misery_n of_o another_o world_n alas_o how_o dismal_a be_v the_o condition_n of_o those_o man_n who_o have_v lose_v the_o divine_a image_n and_o consequent_o his_o love_n and_o favour_n and_o be_v liable_a to_o his_o fury_n and_o wrath_n who_o be_v possess_v with_o a_o legion_n of_o impure_a lust_n which_o lead_v they_o captive_a and_o hurry_v they_o headlong_o to_o perdition_n where_o they_o must_v have_v their_o everlasting_a abode_n with_o impure_a spirit_n and_o devour_a flame_n how_o impossible_a be_v it_o to_o give_v a_o just_a list_n and_o catalogue_n of_o the_o sad_a and_o dreadful_a consequence_n of_o sin_n or_o full_o describe_v the_o evil_a and_o malignity_n of_o it_o but_o yet_o this_o imperfect_a glance_n may_v in_o part_n satisfy_v and_o inform_v we_o that_o a_o holy_a and_o virtuous_a life_n which_o exclude_v all_o those_o mischief_n and_o inconvenience_n which_o both_o in_o this_o and_o the_o next_o life_n attend_v sin_n be_v the_o best_a of_o blessing_n and_o free_v we_o from_o the_o worst_a of_o evil_n five_o holiness_n be_v the_o best_a evidence_n of_o our_o be_v in_o favour_n with_o god_n and_o of_o our_o adoption_n to_o god_n family_n how_o sedulous_a and_o inquisitive_a be_v be_v state_v after_o death_n this_o be_v certain_o a_o matter_n of_o the_o great_a consequence_n and_o deserve_v every_o man_n most_o serious_a consideration_n a_o mistake_n here_o be_v so_o exceed_o dangerous_a like_o a_o wound_n in_o the_o vital_a part_n it_o prove_v mortal_a and_o incurable_a if_o continue_v in_o now_o the_o most_o infallible_a mark_n and_o character_n of_o our_o be_v in_o plain_a inference_n i_o break_v the_o divine_a law_n therefore_o i_o be_o not_o of_o god_n or_o i_o obey_v they_o therefore_o i_o be_o a_o child_n of_o god_n and_o thus_o every_o consider_a man_n shadow_n of_o death_n and_o make_v their_o comfort_n abound_v and_o overflow_v death_n be_v not_o so_o small_a a_o matter_n as_o some_o man_n think_v in_o scripture_n it_o be_v not_o unfit_o call_v the_o king_n of_o terror_n now_o nothing_o can_v free_v man_n from_o the_o terror_n of_o it_o but_o a_o good_a conscience_n and_o this_o can_v be_v have_v without_o holiness_n which_o make_v all_o calm_a and_o serene_a within_o it_o will_v afford_v man_n little_a pleasure_n when_o they_o come_v to_o die_v to_o reflect_v upon_o the_o earthly_a pleasure_n they_o have_v enjoy_v these_o thing_n profit_v not_o in_o the_o day_n of_o wrath_n but_o the_o conscience_n of_o well_o do_v make_v man_n salute_v death_n without_o dread_n and_o astonishment_n and_o lift_v up_o their_o head_n with_o joy_n because_o the_o day_n of_o their_o redemption_n approach_v but_o with_o the_o ungodly_a and_o wicked_a it_o be_v not_o so_o then_o their_o sin_n stare_v they_o in_o their_o face_n and_o so_o terrify_v and_o affright_v they_o that_o no_o wonder_n though_o in_o the_o extremity_n of_o their_o agony_n they_o prefer_v strangle_v and_o death_n to_o life_n if_o holy_a job_n do_v so_o heavy_o complain_v of_o the_o terror_n of_o god_n how_o much_o more_o terrify_v shall_v the_o apprehension_n of_o a_o severe_a and_o terrible_a judgement_n be_v to_o the_o unsanctified_a and_o pollute_a to_o think_v how_o short_o he_o must_v be_v everlasting_o separate_v from_o the_o good_a thing_n he_o enjoy_v here_o and_o be_v cast_v into_o utter_a darkness_n to_o have_v his_o portion_n with_o the_o damn_a in_o devour_a flame_n to_o be_v a_o everlasting_a resident_a in_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n and_o brimstone_n where_o he_o shall_v be_v continual_o torment_v with_o that_o gnaw_a worm_n that_o never_o die_v these_o be_v the_o amaze_a thought_n that_o will_v seize_v upon_o the_o sinner_n his_o conscience_n then_o will_v not_o sleep_v nothing_o will_v be_v able_a to_o allay_v those_o storm_n and_o tempest_n that_o be_v raise_v by_o the_o fearful_a expectation_n of_o the_o reward_n due_a to_o sin_n at_o death_n man_n be_v general_o wise_a than_o at_o other_o time_n then_o they_o begin_v to_o consider_v what_o they_o have_v be_v do_v and_o call_v themselves_o fool_n a_o thousand_o time_n for_o their_o disobedience_n and_o wickedness_n the_o smoke_n of_o worldly_a care_n that_o former_o blind_v their_o eye_n be_v now_o dispel_v they_o see_v their_o folly_n when_o it_o be_v too_o late_o to_o mend_v it_o and_o if_o they_o do_v no_o more_o yet_o balaam-like_a they_o will_v cry_v o_o that_o i_o may_v die_v the_o death_n of_o the_o righteous_a chap._n iu._n frivolous_a cavil_n and_o objection_n remove_v the_o former_a chapter_n have_v discover_v the_o beauty_n of_o holiness_n and_o the_o mighty_a power_n and_o force_v of_o argument_n that_o excite_v to_o the_o practice_n of_o it_o one_o who_o weigh_v all_o this_o by_o the_o measure_n of_o equity_n can_v as_o any_o man_n will_v think_v but_o look_v upon_o it_o as_o the_o strange_a prodigy_n that_o so_o just_a a_o cause_n shall_v miss_v of_o its_o effect_n and_o find_v the_o son_n of_o man_n who_o pretend_v to_o be_v such_o master_n of_o reason_n so_o monstrous_o foolish_a in_o reject_v it_o upon_o the_o account_n of_o some_o frivolous_a and_o very_a fallacious_a cavil_n but_o the_o truth_n be_v resolute_a impiety_n be_v set_v upon_o the_o bench_n and_o make_v judge_n and_o no_o wonder_n though_o it_o pass_v a_o unjust_a sentence_n and_o condemn_v holiness_n because_o of_o its_o opposition_n to_o vice_n the_o common_a imputation_n and_o prejudices_fw-la which_o wicked_a man_n load_v holiness_n with_o i_o shall_v reduce_v to_o the_o four_o follow_a head_n first_o holiness_n lay_v upon_o man_n heavy_a burden_n and_o grievous_a to_o be_v bear_v which_o make_v humane_a life_n joyless_a and_o uneasy_a they_o be_v so_o inconsistent_a first_o with_o peace_n and_o second_o with_o pleasure_n and_o satisfaction_n second_o experience_n inform_v we_o that_o wicked_a man_n enjoy_v pleasure_n and_o satisfaction_n in_o their_o way_n there_o be_v no_o man_n so_o jovial_a and_o merry_a as_o they_o and_o that_o man_n who_o pretend_v to_o holiness_n be_v sullen_a and_o melancholy_a and_o be_v expose_v to_o heavy_a suffering_n and_o trial_n three_o it_o be_v singularity_n and_o ambition_n that_o prevail_v more_o with_o man_n than_o any_o other_o motive_n to_o be_v holy_a four_o it_o be_v the_o great_a piece_n of_o folly_n ignorance_n and_o impudence_n for_o man_n to_o quit_v with_o present_a pleasure_n for_o mere_a uncertainty_n the_o first_o be_v the_o most_o material_a objection_n i_o shall_v therefore_o more_o large_o and_o distinct_o examine_v it_o and_o in_o do_v of_o this_o i_o shall_v desire_v these_o four_o thing_n may_v be_v consider_v first_o that_o the_o divine_a law_n be_v not_o grievous_a and_o uneasy_a second_o that_o vice_n be_v much_o more_o troublesome_a and_o difficult_a than_o virtue_n three_o that_o holiness_n conduce_v both_o to_o the_o peace_n and_o happiness_n of_o humane_a society_n and_o to_o the_o temporal_a advantage_n of_o private_a person_n and_o four_o that_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o more_o pleasure_n in_o the_o way_n of_o holiness_n than_o in_o the_o commission_n of_o sin_n that_o the_o divine_a law_n be_v not_o grievous_a and_o uneasy_a but_o extreme_o reasonable_a and_o wise_a be_v a_o truth_n i_o have_v already_o make_v plain_a when_o i_o discourse_v of_o the_o rule_n of_o holiness_n the_o whole_a tenor_n of_o the_o law_n of_o christianity_n be_v so_o exceed_o suitable_a to_o the_o very_a nature_n of_o man_n it_o can_v be_v rational_o suppose_v that_o they_o can_v be_v grievous_a to_o they_o st._n paul_n to_o the_o philippian_n give_v we_o a_o brief_a and_o compendious_a but_o very_o full_a and_o comprehensive_a account_v of_o what_o thing_n the_o law_n of_o our_o christianity_n enjoin_v viz._n whatsoever_o thing_n be_v true_a whatsoever_o thing_n be_v honest_a whatsoever_o thing_n be_v just_a whatsoever_o thing_n be_v pure_a whatsoever_o thing_n be_v lovely_a and_o whatsoever_o thing_n be_v of_o good_a report_n all_o which_o be_v so_o agreeable_a to_o reason_n that_o even_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n prompt_v man_n to_o the_o do_v of_o they_o and_o full_o discover_v itself_o to_o be_v a_o irreconcilable_a enemy_n to_o all_o kind_n of_o vice_n it_o be_v not_o then_o reason_n but_o the_o impetuous_a lust_n of_o man_n that_o determine_v a_o holy_a law_n to_o be_v grievous_a and_o uneasy_a and_o indeed_o no_o wonder_n though_o this_o unjust_a judge_n make_v holiness_n appear_v formidable_a and_o represent_v it_o as_o grievous_a to_o mankind_n it_o be_v so_o much_o the_o interest_n of_o this_o partial_a judge_n to_o condem●_n it_o as_o criminal_a and_o to_o decry_v it_o as_o a_o yoke_n intolerable_a and_o grievous_a to_o be_v bear_v it_o be_v not_o probable_a that_o the_o most_o innocent_a shall_v pass_v uncondemned_a when_o a_o enemy_n be_v set_v up_o in_o the_o judgement_n seat_n to_o pass_v sentence_n our_o bless_a saviour_n must_v be_v pronounce_v guilty_a by_o pilate_n although_o even_o this_o unjust_a judge_n open_o profess_v he_o find_v no_o fault_n in_o he_o and_o see_v our_o great_a lawgiver_n meet_v with_o so_o severe_a a_o sentence_n who_o can_v expect_v any_o more_o upright_a verdict_n shall_v pass_v upon_o his_o law_n but_o that_o the_o divine_a law_n be_v not_o indeed_o grievous_a to_o be_v bear_v may_v easy_o appear_v from_o plain_a text_n of_o scripture_n which_o be_v the_o only_a infallible_a rule_n our_o great_a lord_n have_v himself_o teach_v his_o disciple_n that_o his_o yoke_n be_v easy_a and_o his_o burden_n light_n and_o one_o of_o his_o inspire_a disciple_n have_v assure_v we_o that_o his_o command_n be_v not_o grievous_a two_o text_n sufficient_a methinks_v to_o remove_v all_o those_o prejudices_fw-la that_o be_v cast_v upon_o a_o holy_a life_n as_o if_o it_o be_v full_a of_o fatigue_n and_o trouble_n but_o beside_o scripture_n reason_n and_o experience_n too_o come_v in_o to_o witness_v this_o truth_n first_o reason_n
