Epistle to Timothe the first Chapter GOD hath not geuen vs the spirite of feare but of power and of loue and of sobernesse of mynde Be not ashamed to testifie our Lorde neyther be a shamed of me whiche am bounde for his sake but suffre thou aduersitie also with the gospell through the power of god whiche saued vs and called vs with an holy callyng not accordynge to oure dedes but accordynge to his owne purpose and grace which grace was geuen through Christ Iesu before the worlde was but is now declared openly by the appering of our sauiour Iesu Christ whyche hathe put awaye death and hath brought lyfe and immortalitie vnto lyghte throughe the gospell The .ii. Chapter NO man that warreth entangleth himselfe with worldly busines and that because he wolde please hym that hath chosen him to be Souldier and though a man stryue for a mastry yet is he not crouned except he striue laufully It is a true saying yf we be dead with hym we also shall lyue with him Yf we be pacient we shall also raygn with him Yf we deny hym he also shal deny vs. Yf we beleue not yet abydeth he faythful He cannot denye himselfe Stryue not aboute wordes whiche is to no profyte but to peruert the hertes The Lorde knoweth

Chapter ANd the elder wemen lykewise that they be in suche raymente as becommeth holynes not false accusars not geuen to muche drinkinge but teachers of honest thinges to make the yong wemen sobre mynded to loue theyr husbandes to loue theyr chyldren to be discrete chast huswifely good and obedient to theyr owne husbandes that the worde of god be not euel so oken of The grace of god that bringeth saluation vnto al men hath appered and teacheth vs that we should deme vngodlynes and worldly lustes and that we should lyue sobre mynded righteouslye godly in this present world lokyng for the blessed hope and glorious appering of the mightye God and of our saueour Iesu Christ whiche gaue hym selfe for vs to redeme vs from all vnrighteousenes and to pourge vs a peculier people vnto him selfe feruently geuen vnto good workes The .iii. Chapter CHrist as a sōne hath rule ouer the house whose house are we so that we hold fast the cōfidēte and the reidysyng of that hope vnto the ende Take hede brethren that there be in none of you an euil herte in vnbeleue that he shoulde depart from the lyuing god but exhort one another dayly while it is called to daye leaste any of you ware harde harted thorowe the deceytefulnesse of synne The .iiii. Chapter THe worde of god is quicke and mightye in operacion and sharper then any two edge sweared and en treth through euen vnto diuiding a sonder of the soule and the sprite and of the taintes and the mary and iudgeth the thought is and theintentes of the hearte neither is there any creture inuisible in the sight of it For all thinges are naked and bare vnto the eyes of hym of whom we speake The .v. Chapter WE haue not an hye priest which cānot haue cōpassion on our infirmities but was in all poyntes lyke as we are but yet without synne Let vs therfore go boldly vnto the seate of grace that we may receyue mercy fynde grace to helpe in tyme of nede Euery hye priest that is taken from among men is ordeyned for men in thynges pertayninge to God to offer giftes and sacrifices for sinne which can haue compassion on the ignorant and on them that are out of the waye because that he him selfe also is compassed with infirmitie for the whyche infirmities sake he is bounde to offer for synnes as well for his owneparte as for the peoples No man taketh honoure vnto hym selfe but he that is called of god as was Aaron Christ in the dayes of his fleshe dyd offer vp prayers and supplications with strong crying teares vnto him that was able to saue him frome death and was also hearde because of his obedience The .vi.
