his_o face_n towards_o the_o wall_n and_o pray_v etc._n etc._n hezekiah_n turn_v his_o face_n towards_o the_o wall_n as_o he_o lie_v in_o his_o bed_n that_o he_o may_v pray_v to_o god_n with_o the_o more_o intention_n of_o mind_n while_o he_o turn_v his_o face_n from_o those_o which_o stand_v by_o and_o remove_v his_o eye_n from_o distract_n object_n and_o pray_v unto_o the_o lord_n to_o wit_n such_o time_n be_v first_o that_o they_o may_v the_o more_o incline_v the_o lord_n to_o mercy_n for_o the_o lord_n be_v more_o ready_a to_o show_v mercy_n to_o those_o which_o endeavour_n to_o live_v according_a to_o his_o law_n then_o to_o those_o which_o neglect_v they_o second_o that_o they_o may_v sustain_v themselves_o against_o the_o pusillanimity_n and_o faintheartedness_n which_o may_v assail_v they_o be_v prone_a by_o nature_n thereto_o for_o the_o testimony_n of_o a_o good_a conscience_n produce_v boldness_n towards_o god_n 1_o pet._n 3.21_o but_o beside_o these_o hezekiah_n may_v have_v a_o special_a reason_n to_o move_v he_o to_o mention_v his_o good_a deed_n and_o that_o be_v this_o because_o the_o lord_n make_v a_o promise_n to_o david_n say_v if_o thy_o child_n take_v heed_n to_o their_o way_n to_o walk_v before_o i_o in_o truth_n with_o all_o their_o heart_n and_o with_o all_o their_o soul_n there_o shall_v not_o fail_v thou_o a_o man_n on_o the_o throne_n of_o israel_n 1_o king_n 2.4_o and_o at_o this_o time_n hezekiah_n have_v not_o a_o child_n to_o succeed_v he_o in_o the_o throne_n and_o hezekiah_n weep_v sore_o viz._n because_o god_n have_v say_v unto_o he_o thou_o shall_v die_v and_o not_o live_v v._o 1._o it_o may_v be_v ask_v here_o why_o hezekiah_n shall_v weep_v sore_o to_o hear_v that_o he_o shall_v die_v answ_n a_o general_a reason_n may_v be_v this_o because_o in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o law_n in_o which_o hezekiah_n live_v the_o hope_n of_o eternal_a life_n be_v not_o so_o great_a as_o it_o be_v under_o the_o gospel_n because_o the_o glory_n to_o come_v be_v not_o so_o full_o reveal_v then_o as_o it_o be_v now_o ephes_n 3.5_o therefore_o be_v death_n more_o fear_v then_o now_o it_o be_v but_o beside_o this_o hezekiah_n may_v have_v many_o particular_a reason_n for_o which_o he_o weep_v at_o the_o hear_n of_o his_o death_n as_o first_o because_o if_o he_o shall_v die_v than_o he_o shall_v leave_v judah_n and_o jerusalem_n under_o the_o pressure_n
and_o danger_n of_o sennacherib_n and_o must_v not_o see_v the_o delivery_n of_o it_o second_o because_o he_o have_v no_o son_n as_o yet_o to_o succeed_v he_o in_o his_o throne_n and_o it_o may_v be_v a_o cause_n of_o sorrow_n to_o he_o to_o think_v that_o the_o promise_v make_v to_o david_n and_o solomon_n 1_o king_n 8.25_o shall_v not_o appertain_v to_o he_o and_o his_o posterity_n yea_o it_o be_v inbred_a by_o nature_n even_o in_o good_a man_n to_o grieve_v to_o think_v that_o they_o shall_v die_v childless_a and_o that_o their_o inheritance_n shall_v come_v to_o stranger_n see_v a_o example_n of_o this_o in_o abraham_n gen._n 15.2_o add_v to_o this_o that_o hezekiah_n know_v that_o the_o messiah_n be_v to_o arise_v out_o of_o the_o seed_n of_o david_n therefore_o if_o he_o shall_v live_v to_o have_v issue_n he_o may_v hope_v that_o the_o messiah_n may_v arise_v out_o of_o that_o from_o which_o hope_n he_o shall_v be_v cut_v off_o by_o die_v at_o this_o time_n three_o he_o may_v imagine_v that_o they_o which_o have_v ascribe_v the_o calamity_n of_o his_o time_n to_o he_o because_o he_o break_v down_o the_o altar_n and_o the_o image_n etc._n etc._n may_v be_v more_o bold_a to_o ascribe_v it_o to_o he_o if_o he_o shall_v now_o die_v and_o other_o will_v be_v more_o prone_a to_o believe_v they_o as_o if_o his_o sin_n in_o this_o have_v hasten_v his_o death_n five_o he_o may_v think_v that_o god_n do_v intend_v to_o cut_v he_o off_o in_o displeasure_n which_o can_v not_o be_v but_o grievous_a to_o he_o to_o think_v of_o because_o the_o prophet_n come_v as_o god_n herald_n to_o threaten_v he_o with_o death_n and_o for_o this_o reason_n perhaps_o among_o the_o rest_n he_o do_v here_o mention_n how_o he_o have_v walk_v before_o god_n in_o truth_n etc._n etc._n 5._o thus_o say_v the_o lord_n the_o god_n of_o david_n thy_o father_n david_n be_v say_v to_o be_v the_o father_n of_o hezekiah_n because_o hezekiah_n descend_v from_o david_n though_o after_o many_o generation_n matth._n 1._o v._n 6_o 9_o and_o the_o lord_n in_o send_v to_o hezekiah_n the_o promise_n of_o recovery_n style_v himself_o the_o god_n of_o david_n his_o father_n that_o hezekiah_n may_v
