eternal_a life_n and_o for_o the_o adoption_n to_o wit_n the_o redemption_n of_o the_o body_n as_o it_o be_v speak_v of_o saint_n hope_v rom._n 8_o 23_o 24_o 25._o he_o that_o have_v such_o a_o save_a hope_n whereby_o as_o a_o anchor_n sure_a and_o steadfast_a he_o hope_v for_o life_n can_v never_o be_v toss_v like_o a_o wave_n with_o any_o slavish_a fear_n of_o death_n oh_o then_o still_o thy_o soul_n by_o hope_n in_o god_n the_o apostle_n peter_n call_v the_o saint_n the_o child_n hope_n a_o lively_a hope_n who_o have_v say_v he_o beget_v we_o unto_o a_o lively_a hope_n lively_a hope_n destroy_v the_o exanimate_v kill_a fear_n of_o death_n put_v we_o beyond_o death_n as_o to_o fear_v before_o it_o come_v at_o we_o as_o to_o feel_n for_o he_o that_o have_v this_o lively_a hope_n as_o a_o anchor_n sure_a and_o steadfast_a can_v much_o fear_n that_o he_o shall_v at_o death_n become_v a_o castaway_n though_o he_o be_v careful_a with_o the_o apostle_n paul_n it_o be_v hell_n pit_n that_o be_v bottomless_a or_o fathomless_a so_o that_o the_o despair_v damn_v be_v always_o torment_v with_o eternal_a pain_n and_o fright_n but_o alas_o come_v the_o worst_a of_o it_o to_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n this_o they_o know_v that_o the_o grave_n pit_n be_v not_o bottomless_a there_o be_v enough_o for_o their_o hope_n to_o bottom_n and_o anchor_n upon_o sure_o and_o steadfast_o the_o grave_a to_o the_o wicked_a be_v indeed_o bottomless_a and_o though_o it_o detain_v a_o while_n the_o body_n yet_o it_o let_v the_o soul_n slip_v into_o hell_n and_o the_o body_n too_o not_o long_o after_o but_o christ_n death_n &_o burial_n have_v so_o sanctify_v every_o of_o the_o saint_n grave_n that_o at_o worst_a their_o grave_n will_v be_v by_o so_o much_o happy_a to_o they_o then_o that_o grave_n be_v to_o the_o dead_a man_n who_o elisha_n bury_a bone_n revive_v even_o by_o how_o much_o lazarus_n his_o second_o be_v or_o will_v be_v better_o than_o his_o first_o resurrection_n christ_n death_n and_o burial_n have_v leave_v somewhat_o in_o every_o saint_n grave_a sufficient_a at_o the_o low_a for_o his_o hope_n to_o bottom_n on_o so_o that_o his_o body_n when_o there_o may_v be_v true_o say_v to_o rest_v in_o hope_n and_o therefore_o have_v this_o grace_n of_o hope_n he_o need_v not_o unless_o he_o will_v be_v disquiet_v with_o fear_n before_o death_n four_o christ_n by_o give_v his_o people_n on_o earth_n some_o real_a foreta_v of_o heaven_n and_o of_o eternal_a life_n do_v thereby_o effectual_o destroy_v their_o fear_n of_o death_n and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n paul_n who_o be_v next_o to_o his_o lord_n and_o master_n the_o great_a conqueror_n and_o triumpher_n over_o death_n we_o read_v of_o after_o that_o he_o have_v be_v rapt_v up_o into_o the_o three_o heaven_n as_o he_o story_n it_o himself_o in_o the_o second_o epistle_n to_o the_o corinthian_n be_v ever_o after_o most_o undaunted_a under_o the_o serious_a thought_n of_o death_n as_o be_v most_o evident_a in_o his_o other_o epistle_n which_o be_v write_v after_o those_o to_o the_o corinthian_n particular_o in_o that_o to_o the_o roman_n where_o he_o tell_v we_o how_o little_o he_o fear_v death_n or_o a_o thousand_o death_n though_o kill_v as_o it_o be_v all_o the_o day_n long_o yet_o more_o than_o conqueror_n he_o have_v before_o so_o sweet_a a_o sight_n of_o heaven_n that_o death_n can_v not_o fright_v he_o so_o sweet_a a_o taste_n of_o heaven_n pleasure_n that_o he_o can_v never_o after_o taste_v any_o bitterness_n in_o death_n and_o thereupon_o just_o long_v to_o be_v there_o again_o he_o fear_v not_o death_n the_o only_a passage_n into_o so_o much_o bliss_n let_v every_o true_a saint_n consider_v this_o i_o say_v every_o soul_n that_o conscionable_o walk_v with_o god_n and_o labour_n to_o have_v communion_n with_o god_n in_o his_o holy_a way_n and_o ordinance_n that_o walk_v in_o some_o measure_n as_o that_o bless_a apostle_n paul_n who_o live_v in_o all_o good_a conscience_n before_o god_n that_o with_o holy_a david_n taste_v and_o see_v that_o the_o lord_n be_v gracious_a that_o taste_v in_o deed_n and_o truth_n save_o of_o the_o heavenly_a gift_n the_o good_a word_n of_o god_n and_o the_o power_n of_o the_o world_n to_o come_v o_o precious_a saint_n do_v thou_o so_o live_v how_o be_v it_o possible_a but_o thou_o must_v long_o to_o be_v fill_v with_o these_o heavenly_a joy_n how_o can_v thou_o fear_v that_o death_n that_o will_v put_v thou_o into_o actual_a possession_n of_o thy_o master_n joy_n according_a to_o that_o in_o rom._n 8.28_o and_o not_o only_o they_o viz._n the_o creature_n but_o we_o ourselves_o also_o which_o have_v the_o first_o fruit_n of_o the_o spirit_n do_v groan_n within_o ourselves_o wait_v for_o the_o adoption_n to_o wit_n the_o redemption_n of_o our_o body_n see_v here_o that_o a_o taste_n of_o the_o first_o fruit_n of_o the_o heavenly_a canaan_n which_o god_n spirit_n from_o above_o fetch_v for_o and_o feed_v a_o saint_n with_o make_v he_o not_o to_o groan_v under_o the_o fear_n of_o die_a but_o rather_o under_o fear_n of_o not_o die_v o_o you_o that_o taste_n and_o relish_v heavenly_a thing_n in_o divine_a ordinance_n and_o have_v much_o of_o the_o presence_n of_o christ_n with_o you_o in_o they_o be_v you_o afraid_a to_o die_v and_o to_o be_v with_o christ_n for_o ever_o be_v not_o this_o better_a than_o to_o live_v there_o be_v three_o thing_n deserve_o to_o be_v call_v first_o
come_v to_o we_o the_o coward_n trick_n indeed_o who_o never_o fight_v but_o when_o he_o think_v his_o enemy_n fear_v to_o resist_v he_o so_o i_o may_v to_o be_v sure_o say_v on_o the_o contrary_a that_o as_o to_o fear_v the_o devil_n draw_v he_o upon_o we_o so_o not_o to_o fear_v he_o keep_v he_o off_o of_o we_o courage_n in_o resistance_n will_v put_v he_o to_o flight_n for_o he_o be_v a_o absolute_a coward_n to_o christ_n and_o stout_a christian_n if_o this_o be_v not_o do_v i_o mean_v if_o the_o devil_n be_v not_o full_o resist_v all_o be_v in_o vain_a that_o man_n will_v scarce_o ever_o keep_v his_o conscience_n quiet_a that_o tame_o suffer_v the_o devil_n to_o play_v the_o merciless_a soldier_n sophister_n gaoler_n or_o executioner_n with_o it_o master_n the_o devil_n and_o then_o have_v make_v thy_o peace_n with_o god_n thou_o have_v only_o thy_o conscience_n still_o to_o pacify_v from_o time_n to_o time_n with_o that_o blood_n that_o have_v pacify_v god_n well_o then_o take_v this_o course_n do_v as_o christ_n do_v in_o his_o fight_n and_o you_o will_v without_o doubt_n fight_v a_o good_a fight_n of_o faith_n and_o finish_v your_o course_n with_o joy_n three_o love_v not_o the_o world_n or_o any_o thing_n in_o it_o that_o be_v of_o it_o love_v not_o your_o life_n too_o much_o exercise_v self_n denial_n do_v we_o love_v god_n and_o ourselves_o aright_o we_o shall_v not_o fear_v death_n perfect_a love_n cast_v out_o the_o fear_n of_o death_n but_o imperfect_a love_n love_v divide_v the_o love_n of_o god_n and_o of_o the_o world_n too_o i_o mean_v the_o comfort_n pleasure_n of_o this_o life_n sweet_a relation_n or_o the_o like_a oh_o this_o imperfect_a love_n instead_o of_o cast_v out_o do_v but_o hatch_n and_o harbour_v the_o fear_n of_o death_n prize_v spiritual_a thing_n above_o worldly_a place_v your_o sensible_a daily_a yea_o hourly_a happiness_n in_o spiritual_a thing_n count_v they_o not_o only_o your_o food_n but_o feast_n yea_o recreation_n too_o always_o reckon_v thus_o to_o be_v merry_a my_o meditation_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v sweet_a say_v david_n and_o i_o will_v be_v glad_a in_o the_o lord_n let_v the_o comfort_n of_o your_o life_n your_o choice_n constant_a delight_n and_o treasure_n be_v heavenly_a thing_n than_o you_o will_v never_o fear_v death_n for_o as_o it_o be_v a_o comfort_n when_o a_o house_n be_v on_o it_o be_v christ_n direction_n the_o uncertainty_n of_o the_o time_n of_o death_n and_o judgement_n have_v this_o use_n of_o exhortation_n annex_v to_o it_o by_o a_o great_a ecclesiaste_n than_o solomon_n christ_n himself_o who_o preach_v as_o never_o man_n do_v and_o speak_v as_o never_o man_n speak_v say_v he_o what_o i_o say_v unto_o you_o i_o say_v unto_o all_o watch_n mar._n 13.37_o
