of_o these_o four_o point_n first_o of_o the_o perpetuity_n of_o this_o institution_n this_o the_o apostle_n signify_v when_o he_o say_v that_o by_o eat_v this_o bread_n 26._o 1_o cor._n 11_o 26._o and_o drink_v this_o cup_n we_o do_v show_v the_o lord_n death_n till_o he_o come_v second_o of_o the_o obligation_n that_o lie_v upon_o all_o christian_n to_o a_o frequent_a observance_n of_o this_o institution_n this_o be_v signify_v in_o that_o expression_n of_o the_o apostle_n as_o often_o as_o you_o eat_v this_o bread_n and_o drink_v this_o cup_n which_o expression_n consider_v and_o this_o sacrament_n to_o be_v a_o solemn_a remembrance_n of_o the_o death_n and_o suffering_n of_o our_o lord_n during_o his_o absence_n from_o we_o that_o be_v till_o his_o come_n to_o judgement_n than_o this_o sacrament_n will_v never_o be_v out_o of_o date_n till_o the_o second_o come_v of_o our_o lord_n the_o consideration_n whereof_o shall_v mighty_o strengthen_v and_o encourage_v our_o faith_n in_o the_o hope_n of_o eternal_a life_n so_o often_o as_o we_o partake_v of_o this_o sacrament_n since_o our_o lord_n have_v leave_v it_o to_o we_o as_o a_o memorial_n of_o himself_o till_o this_o text_n be_v to_o draw_v some_o useful_a corollary_n or_o conclusion_n from_o this_o assertion_n of_o the_o apostle_n that_o whilst_o we_o be_v in_o these_o body_n we_o be_v detain_v from_o with_o the_o lord_n for_o sure_o to_o be_v with_o the_o lord_n must_v signify_v a_o state_n of_o happiness_n which_o sleep_n be_v not_o but_o only_o of_o inactivity_n beside_o that_o the_o apostle_n argument_n will_v be_v very_o flat_a and_o it_o will_v be_v but_o a_o cold_a encouragement_n against_o the_o fear_n of_o death_n that_o so_o soon_o as_o we_o be_v dead_a we_o shall_v fall_v asleep_a and_o become_v insensible_a but_o the_o apostle_n use_v it_o as_o a_o argument_n why_o we_o shall_v be_v willing_a to_o die_v as_o soon_o as_o god_n please_v and_o the_o soon_o the_o better_a because_o so_o soon_o as_o we_o quit_v these_o body_n we_o shall_v be_v present_a with_o the_o lord_n that_o be_v admit_v to_o the_o blissful_a sight_n and_o enjoyment_n of_o he_o and_o while_o we_o abide_v in_o the_o body_n we_o be_v detain_v from_o our_o happiness_n but_o if_o our_o soul_n shall_v sleep_v as_o well_o as_o our_o body_n till_o the_o general_a resurrection_n it_o be_v all_o one_o whether_o we_o continue_v in_o the_o body_n or_o not_o as_o to_o any_o happiness_n we_o shall_v enjoy_v in_o the_o mean_a time_n which_o be_v direct_o contrary_a to_o the_o main_a scope_n of_o the_o apostle_n argument_n 2._o this_o assertion_n of_o the_o apostle_n do_v perfect_o conclude_v against_o the_o feign_a purgatory_n of_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n which_o suppose_v the_o far_o great_a number_n of_o true_a and_o faithful_a christian_n of_o those_o who_o die_v in_o the_o lord_n and_o have_v obtain_v eternal_a redemption_n by_o he_o from_o hell_n not_o to_o pass_v immediate_o into_o a_o state_n of_o happiness_n but_o to_o be_v detain_v in_o the_o suburb_n of_o hell_n in_o extremity_n of_o torment_n equal_a to_o that_o of_o hell_n for_o degree_n though_o not_o for_o duration_n till_o their_o foul_n be_v purge_v and_o the_o guilt_n of_o temporal_a punifhment_n which_o they_o be_v liable_a to_o be_v some_o way_n or_o other_o pay_v off_o and_o discharge_v they_o suppose_v indeed_o some_o very_a few_o holy_a person_n especial_o those_o who_o suffer_v martyrdom_n to_o be_v so_o perfect_a at_o their_o departure_n out_o of_o the_o body_n as_o to_o pass_v immediate_o into_o
