prison_n and_o bondage_n and_o therefore_o he_o cause_v they_o to_o go_v forth_o and_o do_v arise_v upon_o they_o to_o that_o end_n for_o the_o application_n of_o the_o point_n there_o be_v several_a use_n to_o be_v make_v of_o it_o first_o then_o take_v notice_n from_o hence_o what_o a_o grievous_a bondage_n the_o service_n of_o sin_n be_v this_o be_v the_o principal_a part_n of_o the_o bondage_n and_o all_o the_o rest_n be_v but_o the_o product_n of_o sin_n sin_n be_v pregnant_a it_o have_v the_o seed_n of_o all_o those_o terror_n fear_n sorrow_n slavishness_n deadness_n straitness_n and_o all_o the_o rest_n in_o its_o womb_n but_o itself_o be_v the_o chief_a and_o therefore_o we_o be_v say_v to_o be_v sell_v under_o sin_n and_o sin_n be_v say_v to_o have_v dominion_n over_o we_o so_o many_o lust_n brethren_n in_o strength_n so_o many_o 14._o pair_n of_o fetter_n there_o be_v about_o our_o leg_n and_o how_o then_o be_v it_o likely_a that_o a_o sinner_n shall_v run_v the_o way_n of_o god_n commandment_n but_o i_o hope_v by_o what_o have_v be_v say_v already_o it_o will_v be_v grant_v that_o a_o condition_n of_o sin_n be_v a_o condition_n of_o bondage_n only_o a_o little_a to_o aggravate_v this_o consideration_n to_o you_o and_o all_o little_a enough_o i_o doubt_v to_o startle_v sinner_n who_o be_v in_o this_o condition_n first_o consider_v it_o be_v the_o base_a most_o sordid_a thing_n that_o can_v be_v you_o know_v a_o servile_a condition_n be_v mean_a and_o base_a in_o comparison_n of_o liberty_n and_o freedom_n take_v it_o at_o the_o best_a but_o to_o serve_v the_o base_a of_o man_n who_o will_v not_o abhor_v this_o what_o spirit_n will_v stoop_v to_o be_v a_o drudge_n to_o a_o master_n to_o rake_v channel_n and_o cleanse_v jakes_n who_o will_v not_o abhor_v this_o brethren_n this_o be_v nothing_o to_o sin_n to_o the_o slavery_n of_o sin_n as_o it_o be_v the_o great_a honour_n in_o the_o world_n to_o be_v a_o servant_n a_o son_n of_o god_n moses_n the_o servant_n of_o the_o lord_n david_n my_o servant_n as_o you_o know_v servant_n do_v much_o bear_v themselves_o up_o upon_o the_o honour_n of_o their_o master_n so_o it_o be_v the_o base_a servitude_n in_o the_o world_n to_o be_v in_o bondage_n to_o a_o lust_n for_o a_o man_n to_o sell_v himself_o into_o the_o hand_n of_o sin_n and_o satan_n for_o a_o moment_n pleasure_n of_o sin_n this_o be_v base_a it_o be_v brutish_a for_o a_o man_n to_o subject_v his_o understanding_n and_o will_n to_o the_o passion_n of_o his_o lust_n dishonourable_a base_a passion_n 26._o for_o beast_n be_v lead_v by_o their_o appetite_n second_o as_o it_o be_v base_a drudgery_n so_o second_o the_o poor_a sinner_n have_v so_o many_o lust_n and_o so_o contrary_a to_o serve_v and_o satisfy_v that_o he_o must_v needs_o be_v distract_v between_o they_o one_o command_v he_o this_o way_n and_o the_o other_o command_v he_o that_o way_n as_o now_o for_o a_o man_n to_o serve_v his_o pride_n and_o covetousness_n or_o his_o luxury_n and_o covetousness_n these_o be_v contrary_a and_o distract_v and_o distort_v the_o mind_n and_o hurry_v he_o hither_o and_o thither_o he_o can_v enjoy_v no_o peace_n in_o his_o own_o spirit_n at_o all_o you_o shall_v see_v a_o man_n that_o will_v spend_v at_o no_o aim_n when_o he_o be_v in_o company_n and_o none_o seem_v to_o set_v less_o by_o the_o world_n than_o he_o at_o such_o a_o time_n but_o afterward_o when_o he_o recollect_n himself_o than_o he_o must_v run_v and_o drudge_n and_o hurry_v himself_o and_o all_o his_o family_n and_o drive_v fast_o than_o they_o be_v able_a to_o bear_v and_o all_o to_o make_v up_o that_o which_o he_o have_v consume_v upon_o his_o lust_n be_v not_o this_o a_o miserable_a bondage_n to_o be_v under_o such_o contrary_a lust_n three_o yea_o consider_v that_o these_o lust_n be_v most_o insatiable_a in_o drink_v up_o a_o man_n time_n and_o spirit_n and_o strength_n and_o will_v never_o 16._o leave_v a_o man_n while_o he_o have_v any_o thing_n to_o lay_v out_o upon_o they_o more_o so_o you_o know_v the_o prodigal_n spend_v all_o that_o ever_o he_o have_v upon_o his_o lust_n all_o his_o patrimony_n his_o time_n and_o strength_n and_o spirit_n and_o all_o and_o so_o the_o wanton_a do_v upon_o his_o dalilah_n and_o thou_o mourn_v at_o the_o last_o say_v the_o wise_a man_n when_o thy_o life_n and_o thy_o body_n be_v consume_v and_o 11._o say_v how_o have_v i_o hate_a instruction_n and_o my_o heart_n despise_a reproof_n except_o it_o have_v all_o the_o precious_a work_n of_o the_o soul_n it_o be_v not_o satisfy_v it_o must_v have_v all_o the_o thought_n be_v in_o they_o all_o though_o god_n be_v in_o none_o of_o they_o all_o that_o precious_a water_n must_v drive_v this_o mill_n as_o for_o covetousness_n now_o how_o be_v the_o soul_n under_o the_o power_n of_o that_o lust_n as_o i_o may_v say_v hang_v up_o like_o a_o meteor_n in_o the_o air_n as_o the_o evangelist_n have_v it_o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d be_v not_o hang_v up_o as_o meteor_n in_o the_o 2d_o ●ir_n as_o i_o may_v say_v between_o heaven_n and_o earth_n and_o be_v not_o careful_a ●aith_o our_o saviour_n be_v not_o divide_v distract_v in_o your_o care_n o_o ●hat_n they_o shall_v eat_v and_o what_o they_o shall_v drink_v how_o they_o shall_v accomplish_v this_o and_o that_o design_n what_o a_o drudge_n be_v any_o man_n that_o be_v under_o the_o power_n of_o this_o lust_n he_o do_v nothing_o but_o root_n in_o the_o world_n in_o other_o servitude_n if_o that_o a_o servant_n be_v maim_v or_o dismember_v lose_v a_o eye_n yea_o or_o but_o a_o tooth_n they_o must_v be_v let_v go_v 26._o for_o their_o eye-sake_n or_o for_o the_o tooth-sake_n but_o here_o sin_n do_v nothing_o but_o wound_v the_o soul_n break_v a_o man_n consume_v he_o soul_n and_o body_n and_o yet_o will_v not_o let_v he_o go_v sin_n do_v put_v a_o man_n eye_n out_o that_o so_o it_o may_v have_v the_o more_o full_a complete_a command_n over_o the_o poor_a creature_n and_o stop_v the_o ear_n and_o strike_v out_o the_o tooth_n and_o distaste_v the_o pallate_n so_o that_o any_o thing_n of_o god_n have_v no_o more_o relish_n than_o a_o chip_n to_o a_o soul_n make_v the_o poor_a creature_n lame_a for_o any_o lust_n harbour_v in_o the_o soul_n make_v a_o man_n go_v with_o a_o uneven_a pace_n and_o halt_v he_o can_v go_v upright_o and_o so_o it_o weaken_v the_o hand_n and_o make_v feeble_a knee_n and_o indeed_o like_o a_o wolf_n

with_o we_o at_o all_o but_o then_o when_o we_o do_v actual_o thus_o pollute_v ourselves_o he_o take_v occasion_n to_o depart_v to_o leave_v we_o to_o those_o evil_n and_o to_o fill_v we_o with_o our_o own_o backslide_n three_o take_v heed_n of_o sin_v against_o conviction_n against_o light_n this_o be_v dangerous_a indeed_o you_o may_v come_v to_o be_v shut_v up_o in_o darkness_n for_o this_o to_o be_v bind_v in_o affliction_n and_o iron_n to_o endure_v sad_a thing_n upon_o your_o spirit_n for_o if_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n who_o convince_v you_o this_o or_o that_o be_v a_o sin_n be_v so_o far_o slight_v as_o you_o heed_v it_o not_o what_o if_o he_o then_o forbear_v and_o be_v it_o not_o righteous_a he_o shall_v forbear_v to_o shine_v upon_o your_o grace_n that_o you_o shall_v see_v any_o thing_n that_o be_v aught_o in_o you_o so_o that_o you_o shall_v walk_v in_o darkness_n and_o see_v no_o light_n will_v not_o this_o be_v a_o pay_v of_o you_o home_o in_o your_o own_o coin_n david_n can_v not_o be_v ignorant_a what_o his_o sin_n be_v before_o he_o commit_v it_o and_o yet_o you_o see_v he_o venture_v upon_o it_o and_o what_o it_o cost_v he_o four_o take_v heed_n of_o deliberate_a sin_v when_o a_o man_n have_v time_n of_o consideration_n of_o his_o sin_n to_o argue_v the_o case_n pro_fw-la and_o con_v as_o we_o use_v to_o say_v and_o do_v revolve_v with_o himself_o o_o this_o be_v sinful_a if_o i_o do_v it_o i_o rebel_v against_o god_n i_o do_v what_o in_o i_o lie_v to_o undo_v myself_o o_o but_o say_v lust_n man_n it_o shall_v be_v satisfy_v god_n be_v merciful_a there_o be_v time_n enough_o to_o repent_v or_o it_o will_v easy_o be_v heal_v afterward_o now_o upon_o such_o deliberation_n as_o this_o if_o a_o man_n will_v sin_v there_o be_v much_o of_o the_o will_n in_o it_o and_o so_o much_o the_o more_o wicked_a and_o therefore_o now_o the_o spirit_n must_v needs_o be_v grieve_v what_o can_v such_o a_o poor_a creature_n expect_v but_o to_o be_v bring_v under_o bondage_n as_o you_o see_v it_o in_o david_n his_o plot_v and_o contrive_v the_o death_n of_o vriah_n these_o sin_n in_o cold_a blood_n when_o a_o man_n be_v not_o under_o the_o sudden_a violent_a heat_n of_o a_o temptation_n and_o yet_o will_v sin_v o_o this_o grieve_v he_o much_o if_o a_o pot_n be_v on_o the_o fire_n and_o the_o scum_n rise_v we_o throw_v it_o out_o we_o expect_v it_o will_v rise_v but_o if_o no_o fire_n be_v under_o and_o yet_o a_o scum_n arise_v o_o this_o be_v so_o loathsome_a it_o be_v not_o to_o be_v endure_v five_o take_v heed_n of_o rank_a and_o malice_n of_o grudge_n of_o heart_n one_o against_o another_o as_o the_o apostle_n say_v grudge_v not_o one_o against_o another_o prejudices_fw-la heartburning_n grudge_n upon_o injury_n real_a or_o conceive_v and_o imagine_v o_o this_o grieve_v the_o spirit_n who_o be_v a_o spirit_n of_o pure_a love_n and_o will_v have_v they_o that_o look_v to_o enjoy_v he_o to_o be_v a_o people_n of_o love_n to_o cover_v much_o bear_v and_o forbear_v and_o forgive_v in_o love_n for_o love_n will_v cover_v a_o multitude_n of_o offence_n six_o take_v heed_n then_o of_o pride_n of_o be_v lift_v up_o for_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n be_v a_o spirit_n of_o humility_n o_o he_o love_v to_o dwell_v in_o the_o lowly_a spirit_n if_o we_o be_v lift_v up_o we_o rob_v he_o of_o his_o honour_n to_o arrogate_v that_o to_o ourselves_o which_o he_o have_v be_v work_v for_o we_o to_o think_v we_o be_v something_o of_o our_o own_o of_o ourselves_o he_o will_v let_v we_o know_v to_o our_o sorrow_n that_o we_o have_v nothing_o in_o our_o heart_n but_o darkness_n and_o bondage_n and_o sin_n and_o that_o all_o be_v from_o he_o seven_o take_v heed_n of_o unthankfulness_n for_o what_o he_o have_v do_v for_o we_o when_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n shall_v be_v at_o all_o this_o pain_n with_o we_o contest_v with_o the_o quarrelling_n and_o dispute_n of_o our_o own_o heart_n against_o our_o own_o peace_n and_o comfort_n and_o answer_v all_o our_o objection_n and_o still_o our_o complaint_n and_o seal_v up_o love_n upon_o our_o heart_n remove_v our_o tremble_a and_o fear_n dispel_v our_o darkness_n cleanse_v our_o loathsome_a heart_n in_o a_o great_a measure_n of_o those_o lust_n that_o do_v so_o much_o prevail_v against_o we_o and_o we_o shall_v forget_v this_o now_o and_o not_o return_v to_o he_o the_o praise_n but_o either_o to_o grow_v into_o carnal_a security_n and_o when_o we_o have_v rest_n from_o that_o which_o gall_v we_o with_o the_o nine_o leper_n go_v our_o way_n never_o mind_n whence_o we_o receive_v it_o or_o else_o so_o much_o poor_a upon_o the_o remainder_n of_o our_o sin_n as_o not_o to_o exalt_v that_o grace_n whereby_o we_o be_v in_o so_o great_a a_o part_n deliver_v o_o this_o grieve_v he_o and_o therefore_o he_o may_v just_o let_v we_o step_v back_o again_o or_o let_v loose_a upon_o we_o again_o those_o lust_n that_o we_o be_v deliver_v from_o their_o strength_n and_o never_o prize_v the_o mercy_n that_o we_o learn_v to_o admire_v that_o grace_n much_o more_o may_v be_v add_v but_o this_o shall_v suffice_v the_o next_o use_n of_o the_o point_n shall_v be_v for_o satisfaction_n to_o some_o doubt_n since_o we_o be_v deliver_v and_o set_v free_a from_o the_o law_n as_o you_o have_v hear_v from_o that_o it_o may_v be_v think_v first_o that_o the_o law_n be_v a_o evil_a that_o it_o be_v such_o a_o privilege_n of_o the_o saint_n to_o be_v deliver_v from_o it_o second_o it_o may_v be_v doubt_v how_o far_o we_o be_v set_v free_a from_o it_o and_o therefore_o i_o will_v speak_v a_o little_a to_o each_o of_o they_o for_o the_o first_o first_o the_o apostle_n meet_v with_o it_o or_o rather_o prevent_v it_o for_o see_v that_o carnal_a reason_n will_v be_v so_o ingenuous_a as_o to_o find_v out_o that_o cavil_n among_o other_o against_o the_o doctrine_n of_o faith_n and_o of_o freedom_n from_o the_o bondage_n under_o the_o law_n as_o the_o strength_n of_o sin_n special_o what_o shall_v i_o say_v then_o say_v the_o apostle_n be_v the_o law_n sin_n that_o 12._o we_o be_v say_v to_o be_v deliver_v from_o it_o and_o that_o sin_n have_v its_o strength_n from_o it_o and_o so_o deliverance_n from_o sin_n be_v a_o deliverance_n from_o the_o law_n as_o the_o strength_n of_o it_o or_o be_v the_o law_n death_n since_o sin_n by_o this_o mean_n do_v work_v death_n no_o say_v the_o apostle_n the_o law_n be_v holy_a just_a and_o good_a the_o law_n give_v no_o occasion_n to_o sin_n but_o sin_n take_v occasion_n sin_n will_v not_o endure_v to_o be_v contradict_v it_o suck_v poison_v out_o of_o that_o holy_a and_o good_a law_n of_o god_n meet_v with_o opposition_n it_o swell_v and_o rage_v so_o that_o indeed_o it_o be_v sin_n that_o be_v the_o evil_a the_o law_n be_v holy_a and_o good_a o_o but_o the_o law_n it_o work_v wrath_n and_o work_v death_n and_o can_v this_o then_o be_v good_a and_o how_o can_v it_o be_v such_o a_o mercy_n to_o be_v deliver_v from_o it_o be_v it_o a_o favour_n to_o be_v put_v into_o golden_a fetter_n suppose_v the_o law_n to_o be_v good_a and_o holy_a yet_o since_o it_o be_v as_o we_o may_v say_v gin_n and_o fetter_n and_o bolt_n though_o of_o gold_n to_o hold_v the_o poor_a soul_n in_o to_o keep_v he_o in_o and_o up_o as_o in_o a_o prison_n be_v this_o so_o good_a then_o to_o this_o i_o answer_v it_o be_v true_a by_o the_o law_n be_v the_o knowledge_n of_o sin_n i_o have_v not_o know_v lust_n except_o the_o law_n have_v say_v thou_o shall_v not_o covet_v whether_o in_o the_o last_o command_n or_o in_o each_o command_n now_o i_o will_v not_o dispute_v but_o the_o first_o motion_n thought_n rise_n and_o bubbling_n of_o corruption_n i_o have_v not_o know_v they_o to_o be_v sin_n but_o that_o the_o law_n have_v say_v thou_o shall_v not_o covet_v why_o but_o be_v that_o then_o that_o be_v good_a make_v death_n to_o i_o say_v the_o apostle_n you_o must_v know_v the_o apostle_n speak_v here_o of_o a_o death_n which_o be_v the_o receive_n as_o i_o may_v say_v the_o sentence_n of_o condemnation_n in_o his_o own_o spirit_n by_o conviction_n for_o this_o be_v all_o his_o knowledge_n of_o sin_n that_o sin_n by_o the_o commandment_n may_v appear_v to_o be_v exceed_o sinful_a this_o be_v the_o die_v there_o mention_v sin_n revive_v and_o i_o die_v which_o
