that_o be_v by_o his_o appointment_n between_o the_o sin_n exagitated_a and_o the_o punishment_n threaten_v whence_o the_o fear_v mention_v do_v consequent_o ensue_v they_o may_v obtain_v their_o receive_v a_o comfortable_a assurance_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v keep_v by_o the_o power_n of_o god_n through_o faith_n unto_o salvation_n the_o beget_n in_o they_o of_o fear_n of_o death_n and_o hell_n be_v neither_o useful_a in_o itself_o nor_o be_v they_o intend_v of_o god_n to_o be_v their_o portion_n but_o if_o at_o any_o time_n they_o turn_v aside_o from_o the_o holy_a commandment_n and_o thereby_o fail_v of_o the_o persuasion_n of_o their_o perseverance_n as_o their_o faith_n will_v be_v by_o such_o mean_v impair_v though_o the_o certainty_n of_o the_o thing_n itself_o be_v no_o raise_v in_o a_o long_a and_o tedious_a discourse_n to_o interrput_n the_o evidence_n thereof_o in_o the_o 13_o section_n 57_o §._o 57_o under_o pretence_n of_o answer_v a_o objection_n a_o long_a fall_v away_o from_o it_o which_o be_v a_o ridiculous_a piece_n of_o sophistry_n for_o though_o they_o may_v not_o be_v exhort_v to_o continue_v in_o their_o hypocrisy_n which_o corrupt_v and_o vitiate_v their_o profession_n yet_o they_o may_v in_o their_o profession_n which_o in_o itself_o be_v good_a and_o though_o there_o be_v no_o danger_n of_o leave_v their_o hypocrisy_n yet_o there_o be_v of_o their_o wax_a worse_a and_o worse_o by_o fall_v from_o the_o beginning_n of_o grace_n which_o they_o have_v receive_v the_o profession_n which_o they_o have_v make_v and_o the_o regular_a conversation_n which_o they_o have_v enter_v upon_o so_o that_o notwithstanding_o any_o thing_n say_v to_o the_o contrary_a the_o commination_n under_o consideration_n may_v principal_o belong_v to_o some_o kind_n of_o professor_n who_o notwithstanding_o all_o their_o gift_n and_o common_a grace_n which_o they_o have_v receive_v yet_o in_o a_o large_a sense_n may_v be_v term_v hypocrite_n as_o to_o apostasy_n than_o what_o can_v be_v draw_v from_o the_o place_n mention_v i_o dare_v undertake_v that_o mr_n goodwin_n shall_v never_o prove_v any_o such_o concernment_n of_o they_o therein_o whilst_o his_o eye_n be_v open_a but_o about_o this_o i_o shall_v not_o at_o present_a contend_v three_o he_o tell_v we_o that_o the_o end_n and_o aim_v of_o god_n in_o these_o threaten_n be_v the_o sanctify_v the_o lord_n of_o host_n in_o our_o heart_n make_v he_o our_o dread_n and_o our_o fear_n and_o such_o a_o fear_n of_o punishment_n as_o be_v inconsistent_a with_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n that_o we_o shall_v be_v preserve_v in_o obedience_n &_o so_o be_v free_a from_o it_o yet_o i_o shall_v consider_v the_o follow_a discourse_n that_o be_v build_v thereon_o suppose_v all_o that_o mr_n
