or_o peer_n noble_a or_o ignoble_a rich_a or_o poor_a there_o be_v no_o difference_n nor_o exception_n with_o god_n and_o therefore_o they_o ought_v speedy_o to_o sue_v for_o their_o deliverance_n in_o this_o place_n the_o reason_n why_o the_o holy_a ghost_n term_v this_o natural_a corruption_n inherent_a in_o the_o soul_n as_o well_o as_o the_o body_n by_o the_o name_n of_o flesh_n reas._n be_v because_o so_o strict_a be_v the_o union_n betwixt_o the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o in_o a_o unregenerate_a man_n that_o as_o a_o love_a couple_n they_o seek_v the_o preservation_n of_o each_o other_o estate_n and_o like_o hypocrates_n twin_n they_o laugh_v together_o they_o weep_v together_o and_o be_v alike_o affect_v a_o bloody_a heart_n and_o a_o bloody_a hand_n a_o false_a heart_n and_o a_o false_a tongue_n a_o lascivious_a mind_n a_o adulterous_a eye_n yea_o and_o which_o be_v more_o so_o strange_o sometime_o be_v the_o soul_n overcome_v with_o the_o love_n of_o the_o body_n that_o whereas_o by_o nature_n reason_n shall_v command_v and_o rule_v the_o flesh_n as_o the_o weak_a vessel_n the_o belly_n and_o back_n so_o subtle_o insinuate_v and_o creep_v into_o favour_n with_o the_o understanding_n that_o as_o the_o foolish_a wife_n with_o her_o beauty_n and_o compose_a device_n over-ruleth_a her_o husband_n though_o a_o man_n of_o understanding_n so_o these_o importunat_a craver_n never_o give_v over_o their_o suit_n unto_o reason_n they_o make_v it_o a_o drudge_n to_o sensuality_n and_o a_o attorney_n to_o solicit_v the_o cause_n of_o mere_a gross_a and_o carnal_a pleasure_n in_o consideration_n whereof_o i_o mean_v because_o of_o this_o mutual_a intercourse_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o the_o body_n in_o accomplish_v of_o sin_n many_o learned_a divine_n have_v make_v this_o a_o question_n whether_o the_o soul_n be_v first_o infect_v with_o the_o contagion_n of_o the_o body_n or_o no_o but_o of_o that_o i_o will_v not_o stand_v it_o be_v beside_o holy_a ghost_n name_v the_o flesh_n only_o as_o a_o man_n that_o blame_v the_o provoke_a wife_n for_o the_o lewd_a action_n do_v by_o her_o husband_n for_o albeit_o sin_n lie_v principal_o in_o the_o soul_n as_o poison_v in_o the_o tooth_n yet_o it_o shed_v and_o disperse_v itself_o at_o his_o pleasure_n actual_o into_o the_o member_n of_o the_o body_n of_o who_o it_o be_v apt_o accomplish_v as_o occasion_n be_v offer_v and_o as_o the_o whole_a toad_n be_v call_v a_o venomous_a creature_n because_o of_o some_o one_o part_n preserve_v poison_n the_o rest_n be_v capable_a of_o the_o same_o virulent_a infection_n so_o the_o whole_a man_n be_v say_v to_o be_v sinful_a not_o as_o if_o the_o body_n of_o itself_o as_o it_o consist_v of_o bone_n &_o sinew_n and_o live_a artery_n can_v proper_o be_v say_v to_o be_v sinful_a otherwise_o then_o as_o the_o house_n be_v say_v to_o be_v wicked_a because_o of_o the_o wicked_a dweller_n albeit_o i_o grant_v as_o the_o serpent_n be_v a_o fit_a instrument_n for_o the_o devil_n because_o of_o his_o subtlety_n so_o
upon_o they_o yet_o shall_v they_o escape_v no_o more_o than_o a_o beast_n take_v in_o a_o trap_n or_o the_o prisoner_n include_v in_o a_o strong_a tower_n when_o the_o lord_n shall_v come_v in_o post_v with_o his_o cup_n companion_n there_o stand_v in_o one_o of_o the_o drink_a place_n a_o man_n with_o a_o pistol_n charge_v with_o white_a powder_n of_o purpose_n to_o shoot_v he_o through_o i_o imagine_v how_o glad_o he_o will_v leave_v his_o wine_n and_o sugar_n and_o betake_v himself_o to_o his_o heel_n yea_o and_o account_v he_o his_o friend_n that_o will_v push_v he_o over_o the_o threshold_n and_o thrust_v the_o door_n after_o he_o and_o this_o not_o without_o reason_n for_o as_o a_o man_n will_v be_v willing_a to_o give_v all_o that_o he_o have_v yea_o and_o to_o lose_v some_o of_o his_o limb_n to_o redeem_v his_o life_n skin_n for_o skin_n and_o all_o that_o a_o man_n have_v will_v be_v give_v for_o his_o life_n 2._o so_o will_v he_o be_v content_v to_o deny_v his_o pleasure_n and_o profit_n if_o in_o case_n they_o prejudice_v that_o unless_o it_o be_v those_o wherein_o the_o temerarious_a rashness_n of_o affection_n prevent_v reason_n and_o enforce_v the_o body_n to_o commit_v the_o action_n before_o the_o mind_n have_v give_v any_o counsel_n now_o if_o reason_n can_v thus_o prevail_v against_o corrupt_a passion_n when_o hurt_n be_v intend_v against_o the_o body_n why_o shall_v it_o not_o much_o more_o persuade_v the_o understanding_n conscience_n and_o will_v to_o endeavour_v themselves_o against_o fleshly_a corruption_n which_o be_v pernicious_a to_o the_o soul_n and_o not_o only_o temporal_a but_o eternal_a death_n to_o the_o whole_a man_n by_o death_n in_o this_o place_n be_v understand_v not_o the_o first_o but_o the_o second_o death_n as_o appear_v plain_o by_o the_o antithesis_fw-la and_o opposition_n of_o eternal_a happiness_n against_o this_o everlasting_a death_n and_o misery_n and_o so_o it_o be_v take_v in_o many_o place_n of_o scripture_n 11._o he_o that_o overcom_v shall_v not_o be_v hurt_v of_o the_o second_o death_n 18_o the_o fearful_a and_o unbelieved_a etc._n etc._n shall_v have_v their_o part_n in_o the_o lake_n which_o burn_v with_o fire_n and_o brimstone_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n what_o need_v many_o proof_n as_o if_o every_o scripture_n be_v not_o give_v by_o divine_a inspiration_n here_o we_o country_n answ._n upon_o the_o scafffold_n of_o this_o present_a earth_n and_o perhaps_o have_v get_v he_o wealth_n wife_n and_o child_n build_v a_o fair_a house_n bear_v office_n in_o the_o parishwhere_o he_o dwell_v purchase_v much_o land_n engross_v sundry_a commodity_n and_o mount_v upon_o the_o proud_a foam_a steed_n of_o all_o stumble_a vanity_n of_o a_o sudden_a when_o he_o most_o wish_v and_o hope_v to_o live_v as_o a_o fish_n take_v with_o a_o hook_n or_o a_o bird_n with_o the_o snare_n he_o shall_v be_v entrap_v with_o death_n his_o fleshly_a body_n shall_v be_v cast_v into_o the_o earth_n for_o a_o time_n and_o his_o soul_n into_o the_o bottomeless_a pit_n of_o hell_n now_o after_o that_o the_o soul_n and_o body_n have_v for_o a_o certain_a season_n make_v their_o abode_n in_o the_o say_a place_n of_o the_o grave_n and_o hell_n as_o a_o malefactor_n in_o the_o prison_n until_o the_o law_n day_n then_o shall_v they_o by_o the_o unspeakable_a power_n of_o god_n be_v unite_v again_o into_o one_o man_n at_o the_o voice_n of_o a_o archangel_n and_o trumpet_n of_o god_n 16._o and_o be_v summon_v together_o with_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o dead_a to_o make_v their_o appearance_n before_o the_o almighty_a to_o hear_v that_o fearful_a sentence_n of_o condemnation_n pronounce_v against_o they_o depart_v from_o i_o you_o curse_v 25._o etc._n etc._n this_o
